Mary Lue Archibald passed away on March 4, 2021, at the Norton Andbe Home.

Mary Lue was born in Norton, Kansas on April 16, 1926, to Henry and Florence “Babe” Shaw.

She grew up in the Norton area and graduated from Norton Community High School in 1943.

Three years following graduation, Mary Lue met the love of her life, Don Archibald. They married on June 15, 1946, and for the next 58 years resided primarily in the Norton area.

Mary Lue’s employment included various office positions. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star, past Guardian of Job’s Daughters, and a lifelong member of the Norton Christian Church.

In her spare time, you might find her on the golf course, playing bridge, reading a good book, enjoying various puzzles or watching sporting events. Her sense of humor and quick wit was appreciated by all who knew her.

Mary Lue is survived by her five children, Peggy (Bob) Machen of Phoenix, AZ, Curt (Norma) Archibald of Norton, KS, Dona (Tom) Purcell of Phoenix, AZ, Becky (Dick) Knackendoffel of Grand Junction, CO, and Marianne (Gregg) Wicker of Norton, Kansas; 15 grandchildren; 28 Grandchildren; sister, Miladeen Bower of Zillah, WA, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Don; two sisters, Pauline Hixon and Wava Donovan; granddaughter, Patty Purcell Hunt and son-in-law, Kirk Allred.
