PITTSBURG, Kan. - The Fort Hays State men's cross country team placed sixth at the 2025 MIAA Championships Saturday morning (Oct. 25) after compiling 158 team points. Christian Darrah led the Tigers to the line, finishing eighth to earn All-MIAA status for a second year in a row.
FHSU's sixth-place team finish is the best for the men since 2019 when they finished fourth.
Darrah navigated the eight-kilometer course at Four Oaks Golf Course in 24:51.6, less than six seconds outside of a top-five finish. The Galva, Kan. native was in 11th place at the two-kilometer pole but managed to pass three competitors over the final six kilometers.
Noah Morenz was the next Tiger to the line, placing 27th with a time of 25:41.7. Cole Krug clocked a time of 25:58.6 to finish in 31st place, with Hayden Nemechek crossing the finish line in 38th place after traversing the course in 26:10.4. Chayse McCullough rounded out the Tiger top five in 63rd place with a time of 26:52.5.
Northwest Missouri State took home the team trophy for a second year in a row after accumulating 54 points, while the Bearcats' Aziz Mohammed finished first individually in 24:16.1.
Fort Hays State will continue the postseason push in two weeks (Nov. 8) when Missouri Southern hosts the Central Region Championships in Joplin, Mo. The men's 10K is set to begin at 11:15 a.m.
