Cathy (Cobb) Ruby

Cathy (Cobb) Ruby, 69, of Bunker Hill, Kansas, passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021, at the Russell Regional Hospital in Russell.

Cathy was born September 22, 1951, in Huntsville, Alabama.  She was one of eight children to David Ray and Lena Kathleen (Tate) Cobb.  She grew up in the Decatur, Alabama area and attended high school there.  She later attended Broward Community College in Florida and Burton Community College in Great Bend, Kansas.  She lived in the Bushton, Kansas area from 1977 to 1989.

Cathy was united in marriage to Bruce E. Ruby on January 23, 1990, in Russell, Kansas.  They made their home in the Bunker Hill area.

Cathy was a devoted wife, homemaker and friend of Bruce.  She also did some Data Processing for companies in Hays, Kansas.  She was a member of the St. Mary, Queen of Angels Catholic Church of Russell.  She also was a member of AARP and Good Sams Travel Club .  She loved traveling, camping, reading, crocheting and spending time with family and friends.  Bruce and her spent many years traveling to Lost Dutchman in Arizona.

Cathy’s surviving family include her husband of 31 years, Bruce of the home; three sons, John D. Wilbourn (Mary) of Alabama, William L. Wilbourn (Keirri) of Tennessee and Eugene K. Wilbourn (Kathy) of Oklahoma; two brothers, David Cobb, Jr. (Pat) of Huntsville, Alabama and Leonard Cobb (Rita) of Panama City Beach, Florida; five sisters, Minerva Aylor (George) of Florida, Edith Wilbourn of Alabama, Delena Mullnite (Mike) of Florida & Sandra Mellott of Virginia; six grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Gonzales, and two grandchildren. A Private Service will be held by the family at a later date.  Cremation has taken place.  Condolences may be sent to Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, who is in charge of these arrangements.
