Albert J. Zerr

Albert J. Zerr, age 81, of Quinter, KS peacefully passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at Gove County Medical Center, LTC. Albert was the son of Frank A. and Albina (Ziegler) Zerr of Quinter, KS. 

Albert attended Quinter schools graduating the class of 1957. After high school, he joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Riley. After his basic training, he was stationed in Germany, returning home in June of 1961.

On November 25, 1961, Albert was united in marriage to the love of his life, Aurilla (Glick) Zerr. They were married at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Park, KS. He lived his life in Gove County. Albert and Aurilla were married nearly 60 years and they were blessed with 5 children. 

Albert worked side by side with his wife during their life doing farming, custom hay work, hay grinding and hauling grain. 

Albert was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.), WaKeeney, KS.  Through the years, Albert became President of the F.O.E.in both local and state Aeries. He was very proud of his accomplishments in the organization and made many friends in his years of service whom he cherished.  Albert also enjoyed coyote hunting, going to car races, Polka music and spending time with his friends and family. 

Albert is survived by his wife Aurilla; sons Kirk Zerr (Deana) of Quinter and Terry Zerr of Wichita; daughters Sheree Flax (Darren) of Quinter and Bernice Spinden (Michael) of Cottonwood Falls, KS; brothers Elmer Zerr (Loretta) of Salina and Alfred Zerr (Mary Lou) of Tyler, TX; brother-in-law Ray Schroeder of Angelus, KS; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was proceeded in death by his parents; son Wade Zerr; and sister Dorothy Ann Schroeder. 

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Park, KS or the Quinter Senior Citizen Center. Donations to the organizations may be sent to Schmitt Funeral Home, 901 S. Main St. Quinter, Kansas, 67752.
