The Hays Arts Council is launching a pilot series of adult art workshops, marking the return of adult art classes for the first time in more than a decade.
While HAC has continued to offer youth programming, exhibitions, and community arts events, this new series expands opportunities for adults to learn new skills, try new mediums, and create alongside others.
"People have been asking us when adult classes would be available, and we're excited to finally make that happen," said Chandler Reich, Executive Director of the Hays Arts Council. "Whether you're trying something new or building on existing skills, these workshops are designed to be approachable and enjoyable for artists of all experience levels."
Registration & details available online on Tuesday, July 21, at 5 p.m. Advance registration is required, and class sizes are limited. The inaugural series includes three workshops: Watercolor 101 & 201 with Margie Hammerschmidt - Aug. 8th & 9th AND Sept. 9th & 110th. his two-part workshop gives participants the chance to learn watercolor fundamentals,, ncluding color, layering, and techniques for creating depth.
Designed for beginners and those looking to strengthen their watercolor skills. Participants will leave with a beginner's kit to continue their work at home. Watercolor Sunsets with Amy Warfield - August 21st Create a watercolor sunset while learning basic landscape painting techniques. Some to intermediate experience required, and participants are encouraged to bring their own sunset photograph.
Acrylic Floral Arrangement with Emily Weigel - Sept 26th Paint a fall floral arrangement inspired by a live arrangement provided by Regeena's Floral & Events. Your registration includes all painting supplies, hors d'oeuvres, and drinks. Bring a friend or come on your own for a fun evening of painting. Each participant will leave with a finished painting, and one lucky attendee will win the floral arrangement.
The pilot program will help guide future adult arts programming, with additional workshops planned based on community interest.
