FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Sean Keenan had three this and drove in five runs, Taber Stokes and Brayden Huebner both added three hits and the Hays Larks bounced back from their first loss of the season with a 13-7 victory over the Fort Collins Foxes Tuesday night at City Park Field.
The Larks (17-1, 14-1 RMBL) broke the game open with a seven-run sixth inning, highlighted by Kennan’s grand slam. Cooper Holtorf had an RBI double and Stokes drove in another run with a single.
Hays took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on Dylan LaRue's RBI double and made it 2-0 in the third on Huebner's RBI single.
Fort Collins (15-7, 4-4 RMBL) answered with three runs in the bottom of the third to move in front 3-2, but the Larks evened the score in the fourth on Max Flowers' RBI double.
Both teams scored a run in the seventh and two in the ninth for the final margin.
Keenan finished with five RBIs, while Huebner drove in three runs and Flowers added two.
Braden Cox (2-0) earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief. He allowed one hit, struck out three and walked two.
Starter Charlie Pearce surrendered three runs on four hits over four innings, striking out two and walking one. Justin Peinado allowed one run on two hits in the seventh inning. Jaxon Ramos gave up three runs on four hits while striking out two and walking none over the final two innings.
