CASA of the High Plains is inviting local youth to participate in a community-wide coloring contest this April in recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month. The contest will be hosted at the Hays Public Library and is designed to raise awareness while celebrating the creativity of children and teens in the community.

The contest will run through April 17 with winners announced and contacted via phone on April 22. Participants will be asked to decorate a special pinwheel-themed coloring sheet—a symbol of child abuse prevention—encouraging creativity and personal expression.

Coloring sheets are now available at the Hays Public Library and entries will be displayed throughout the contest period, allowing the community to view and celebrate the artwork.

The contest will feature three age categories:

●     Ages 0–5: $10 prize

●     Ages 6–11: $15 prize

●     Ages 12–18: $25 prize

Winners will be selected for each age group, and their artwork will be featured on social media and during the Hays Art Walk at the Hays Public Library on April 25th.

“This contest is a wonderful way to engage our community’s children while also bringing awareness to an important issue,” said Desiree Bowker of CASA of the High Plains. “We are excited to partner with the Hays Public Library and celebrate the creativity and voices of our youth.”
