Dolores P. Petz, age 95, of McCracken, Kansas passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Via Christi Village, Hays. She was born on March 12, 1930, in Ellinwood, Kansas to Anton and Barbara (Auburger) Kowalsky. Dolores graduated from the Catholic High School in Ellinwood. On October 16, 1947, she married Donald J. Petz. He preceded her in death on June 15, 1984.
Dolores was a homemaker and a farmer along with Donald She continued farming after Donald’s death in 1984 retiring in 1996 when their son, Danny took over the farming operations. Dolores was artistic in nature particularly landscape oil paintings. Her painting was a way for her to pass the time while she was caring for Donald. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Altar society both in McCracken. She also attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellis. Family was especially important to Dolores and keeping her family together was always a priority for her.
She is survived by her sons, Chris Petz and wife Jackie Kennedy of McCracken and Darrell Petz and wife Cynthia of Andover, Kansas; nine grandchildren, Terri Everhart and husband James, Kelly Petz and wife Melanie, Angie Timson and husband Trent, Troy Petz, Melissa Leiker and husband Chad, Chansler Petz and wife Kaylyn, Chelsea Wells and husband Kurt, Dustin Petz and wife Shelly and Shanda Preston and husband Shane; 27 grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Madeline, Patricia, and Joy as well as a son-in law, Harold.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sons, Gene, Danny, Tim, and Kirby; daughter, Sherry Witthuhn and a grandson, Eric Petz.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, April 28, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in McCracken, Kansas. Burial will follow in the McCracken Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday 4 PM - 7 PM with a combined parish vigil and rosary service at 6 PM all at Keithley Funeral Homes and Crematory - Brock's Chapel 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601. Monday visitation will be 10 AM until service time at St. Mary's Church in McCracken.
