Fort Hays State Football looks to extend one streak and snap another when it hosts Missouri Southern on Saturday night (Sept. 24). Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Lewis Field Stadium. The Tigers are looking to extend an eight-game win streak against Missouri Southern to nine, which dates back to the 2011 season. FHSU will be looking to snap a string of four straight losses at home going back to last season.

Fort Hays State is looking to get back to 2-2 overall after an 0-2 start for the third straight season. The Tigers are looking to accomplish the feat against Missouri Southern for the third straight year, as the Lions have served as the fourth opponent of the season for the Tigers each year since 2018.

Thanks to eight straight wins against the Lions in the series, the Tigers own an 18-13-1 advantage in the all-time series with the Lions. Fort Hays State has scored 40 or more points in each of the last four contests against Missouri Southern. The Tigers won 42-21 last year in Joplin. The 21 points generated by the Lions was their most since against the Tigers since the 2015 meeting when they scored 31. Fort Hays State has won the last four meetings between the teams in Hays. Missouri Southern's last win in the series was during the 2010 season when it won 41-31 in Hays. Fort Hays State head coach Chris Brown is 8-0 against Missouri Southern.

Fort Hays State is averaging 391.7 yards of total offense per game. The Tigers are averaging 284 passing yards per game and 107.7 rushing yards per game. Jack Dawson is averaging 238.5 passing yards per game and 261.5 yards of total offense per game. He has both three passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns over his first two games in the role. Adrian Soto is the leading rusher for FHSU at 51.7 yards per game, while Manny Ramsey is the leading receiver for FHSU with 14 catches and averaging 72.7 yards per game.

Defensively, the Tigers are led in tackles by Makel Williams with 22, followed by Mason Perez with 19. Gaven Haselhorst leads the Tigers in tackles for loss with 4.5, which ranks second in the MIAA. Jeremiah Jackson-Trotter ranks second in the MIAA in sacks with three. Hunter Brown and Daniel Howard each have an interception this season.

Missouri Southern enters this contest averaging 331.3 yards of total offense per game, but is surrendering just 316 per game. Quarterback Dawson Herl averages 147.3 passing yards per game, while Nathan Glades leads the Lions in rushing at 95 yards per game. Glades ranks second in the MIAA in rushing yards per game. Richard Jordan Jr. averages 12 tackles per game for the Lions, which ranks second in the MIAA, and he is tied for second in the conference in tackles for loss (4.5).
