Irene (Garvert) Fellhoelter, of Plainville, KS, passed away on January 12, 2025, at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, at the age of 95. She was born on April 6, 1929, to George and Lenora (Meyers) Garvert in Plainville, where she lived her entire life.
Irene graduated from Plainville High School in 1947 and on April 3, 1951, she married the love of her life, Herman H. Fellhoelter, Jr., and together they built a beautiful life, raising six children: Linda, Kathy, Steve, Eileen, Mary, and Jerry. Her devotion to her family was evident in everything she did, from her loving care for her children to the endless hours spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Irene found immense joy in watching her family grow, and her heart swelled with pride as she celebrated the accomplishments of each generation.
Irene was a hardworking woman who held a variety of jobs over the years. She worked for Southwestern Bell, Meade-Storm Insurance Agency, Kimbark Oil, Jerry’s Tank Service, Fellhoelter Consulting, and as owner of H&C Oil Operating. Despite her busy career, Irene never lost sight of her deep faith and commitment to her community. A lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, she was actively involved in the Ladies Guild. She also volunteered as a teacher’s aide at the Sacred Heart School for many years and loved every child she had the privilege to work with. She also dedicated her time to the Rooks County Health Center Auxiliary and volunteered with hospice, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Outside of work, Irene had a passion for gardening, where she found peace and joy in nurturing her plants. She was known for her beautiful flowers and lush garden. But it was her love for her family that truly defined her life. Whether it was playing games like Old Maid with her grandchildren, sharing stories on the phone with friends, or simply sitting on the porch birdwatching, Irene’s warm and loving nature made everyone who spent time with her feel cherished. Irene’s legacy of kindness, faith, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
