🏃‍♂️ HHS boys win fourth straight WAC title; girls second

DODGE CITY – The Hays High boys track and field team had six first place finishes and won their fourth-straight Western Athletic Conference title Thursday at Memorial Stadium. The Indians scored 121 points and outdistanced second place Garden City by 35 points.

The HHS girls won four gold medals and finished in second place with 103.5 points, 15.5 behind Great Bend.

First place finishes for the HHS boys included Kamani Jones in the high jump (6-2), Gus Corsair with a personal best in the discus (152.5), Dalton Meyers the javelin (178-0), Maxim Luna with a personal best in the shot put (46-8.5), Carson Avery with a personal best in the 110 hurdles (15.17) and Elijah McCullough in the 3200 (9:59.81).

The boys also had six second place finishes. Jace Myers with a personal best in the pole vault (12-6 ), Kamani Jones in the long jump (20-1), Parker McGuire a personal best in the discus (139.9), Wyatt Kirkpatrick in the javelin (161-10), Taevian Maupin-Dabney a personal best in the 400 and the 4x100 relay team of Holden Lind, Jarek Purdy, Malik Bah and Duante Younker.

The Hays girls had four first place finishes. Katie Linenberger with a personal best in the high jump (5-6), Lilian McGrath in the long jump (17-2.75), Zoe Winter a personal best in the shot put (37-0.5) and Lyndi Zimmerman a personal best in the 100 hurdles (15.46).

They had several second place finishes as well. Kamryn McCall in the long jump (17-1.25), a personal best in the 100 (12.49) and she was also a member of the runner-up 4x100 relay along with Margan Gerdes, Lynsi Kanek and Lilian McGrath. The other second place finisher were Kenlee Vehige who had a personal best in the pole vault (9-6), Brooke Bieker in the triple jump (34-5) and Rylen Harrington a personal best in the javelin (34-5).
