Teodora Castañeda de Acosta died Friday March 8, 2024 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. She was born in Huánuco, Peru on November 11, 1930.La Señora Teodora lived in Peru most of her life before immigrating to United States. She was born a strong, independent, brave woman. She was influenced by World War II’s mentality of survival. When her children were down she would tell them “Get up, be like the soldiers that carry a weapon in one hand and their leg in the other!” Although she was small in stature she was large in mental toughness. This mental tenacity along with her devout faith in Jesus made for a well rounded mother and grandmother, who could help her family overcome their own obstacles. She enjoyed traveling to her native Peru and Venezuela.
Survivors include her Step Son-Edwin Acosta; Children-Jesus Manuel Acosta, Jose (Yolanda) Acosta, Lupe (George) Jones, Rosario (Segundo Aponte) Acosta & Fernando Acosta and fur baby -Kitty.
She was preceded in death by her Mother- Francisca Palomino, Husband-Manuel Acosta and Daughter-Amanda Acosta.
Visitation will be held 2:00-8:00 pm Sunday March 10, 2024 at Garnand Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 am Monday March 11, 2024 also at Garnand Funeral Home with Pastor David Fernandez Officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Teodora Castañeda de Acosta falleció el Viernes 8 de Marzo de 2024 en Wesley Medical Center en Wichita, Kansas. Nació en Huánuco, Perú el 11 de noviembre de 1930.La Señora Teodora vivió en Perú la mayor parte de su vida antes de emigrar a Estados Unidos. Nació como una mujer fuerte, independiente y valiente. Estaba influenciada por la mentalidad de supervivencia de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Cuando sus hijos se cayeron, les decía “¡Levántense, sean como los soldados que llevan un arma en una mano y la pierna en la otra!” Aunque era pequeña de estatura, era grande en fortaleza mental. Esta tenacidad mental junto con su fe devota en Jesús la convirtieron en una madre y abuela integral, que pudo ayudar a su familia a superar sus propios obstáculos. Le gustaba viajar a su Perú natal y Venezuela. Los sobrevivientes incluyen a su Step-Son- Edwin Acosta; Hjos:-Jesús Manuel Acosta, José (Yolanda) Acosta, Lupe (George) Jones, Rosario (Segundo Aponte) Acosta y Fernando Acosta y Perrita -Kitty. Le precedieron en la muerte su Madre-Francisca Palomino, su Esposo-Manuel Acosta, y su Hija-Amanda Acosta.El Velorio se llevará a cabo de 2:00 a 8:00 p. m. el Domingo 10 de Marzo de 2024 en Garnand Funeral Home. Se llevará a cabo un Funeral a las 10:00 am el Lunes 11 de Marzo de 2024 también en la Funeraria Garnand con el Pastor David Fernández oficiando. Seguirá el entierro en el Cementerio Valley View.
