Lucille May Martin

Lucille May (Miller) Martin, age 68, of WaKeeney, Kansas, passed away Friday, October 22, 2021, at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital.

Lucille was born on May 2, 1953, in Hoxie, Kansas, to Virgil O. and Pearl M. (Brown) Miller. She grew up in Hoxie, where she graduated from High School in 1971. Lucille was united in marriage to Anthony W. Martin on April 11, 1975 in Hoxie. It was at this time that they moved to WaKeeney and resided there until her passing.

Lucille enjoyed being a housewife and mother of two children, Richard and Kimberly. She worked as a cook, motel housekeeper, and for the last 16 years as a dietary aide at Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney. Lucille was a very loving, caring, passionate lady. She was a charter member of the Eagle’s Club 3774 of WaKeeney. She enjoyed playing and calling bingo at the Eagle’s Club, and watching football games.

Lucille is survived by her husband Tony of the family home; son Richard W. Martin (Mackenzie) of WaKeeney; daughter Kimberly S. Jukes (Terry) of Denver, Colorado; sisters Carol Trice of WaKeeney, and Meg Muir, of Fort Collins, Colorado; many nieces, nephews, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Virgil, Earl, and Philip Miller; sister Louise Craft; and 3 nieces.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 29, 2021, from 5:00-8:00 PM at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney.

A memorial service will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney, with Pastor Jon Anderson officiating.
