Lilly Marlene Zeman

Lilly Marlene Zeman, age 85, of WaKeeney, KS, passed away October 18, 2020. She was born November 16, 1934 in Quinter, KS, to John and Ruby (Jarboe) Jamison. She was a graduate of Quinter High School. Lilly was a fierce fighter, having beaten breast cancer twice, as well as battling lung cancer for over 2 years. 

On February 10, 1956, she was united in marriage to Frank “Junior” Zeman in Quinter, and they enjoyed 43 years of marriage together. They lived on a farm in Trego county for a few years before buying a home in WaKeeney where they raised 3 children together. Lilly worked as a dietary aide for 35 years in WaKeeney at the Lutheran home before going on to work another 24 years as a senior companion. Following the death of her husband in 1999, she moved to Keeney Village, where she lived for 20 years. In her spare time, Lilly liked to crochet her hangers, work on her word search and puzzle books, and play dice. She was also a collector of many angels. 

Lilly well be dearly missed and remember by so many friends and family, including her children Joquetta (Robert) Roth of Lakewood, CO, Stephen Zeman of Quinter, Kevin Zeman of WaKeeney, and Debbie (Brett) Rucas of Hays, KS; grandchildren Jessica (Russell) Wood of Ogallah, KS, Amanda (Cody) Hamilton of Morland, KS, Cortney Wright of Hays, and Kerbi (Jeremy) Jacobson of Littleton, CO; great-grandchildren, Brendon Wright, Hannah and Breanna Wood of Ogallah, Caleb and Tristan Hamilton of Morland, Haylee and Tanner Finnesy, Mikah Chaffee and Kira Plante of Hays, and Lanie and Micha Jacobson of Littleton; sister Myrna Prewitt of Beloit, KS; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband; brothers Hershel, Virgil, Reuben, Loren, and Edwin Jamison; sisters Mary Loreen Williams, Eula Schreiner, Wava Smith, and Nellie Kepferle.

Inurnment will be at the Kansas Veterans cemetery, in WaKeeney. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
