GREAT BEND – The TMP-Marian girls’ cross country team qualified for the 2A state cross country meet after a third-place finish at the Great Bend regional held at the Lake Barton Golf Course.
Stanton County win the meet with 34 points, Oakley finished second with 66 and the Monarchs third with 70, two less than Meade.
The Monarchs had one runner finish in the top-10. Senior Sophie Allen placed seventh with a time of 21:15.59. Sophomore Ella Bain finished 12th (22:15.80), Michaela Dickman was 22nd (23:07.75) and freshman Claire Schipppers 29th (24:11.04).
A couple of other area runners qualified for the state meet with top-10 finishes. Ellis freshman Avery Boydston finished in second place with a time of 19:37.61. and Trego freshman Kallan Rothchild placed ninth (21:40.55).
Stanton County’s Chesney Peterson won the regional with a time of 17:43.44.
The 2A state meet will be Saturday, October 29 at the Wamego Country Club.
