Hays USD 489 school board member Nuchelle Chance has submitted her resignation to the school district after moving out of state.
She was appointed to the board in January 2020, filling a portion of the remainder of the term of Sophia Rose Young, who also moved out of the school district.
Chance's term would have ended in January 2022. That seat is up for election in the November school board race.
The school board will officially consider her resignation at its next regular meeting on Aug. 23. At that time, the board will also consider what to do with the vacant seat.
