Hays led by four runs twice in game two but could not hold on for the victory. The Indians scored four in the first inning and two more in the second for a 6-2 advantage. Dodge City switched pitchers for the third inning trailing 6-3 and Ramie Lopp threw five more innings of scoreless ball.
