Vadis Colleen Madden

Vadis Colleen Madden, daughter of Roscoe and Elta (Stevens) Wildman, was born January 27, 1932, in Arapahoe, Nebraska, and passed away at the Good Samaritan Health Center in Kearney, Nebraska, on July 8, 2020, at the age of 88.

Vadis grew up in Elwood and attended the local schools, graduating from the Elwood High School.

On March 16, 1951, she married Bobbie Dean Madden in Lexington, Nebraska. They made their home in Norton where they raised their family.

Vadis worked as a telephone operator for many years. She also worked at the Norton State Hospital. When it sold and became Norton Correctional Facility, Vadis worked as a corrections officer, retiring with the rank of Sergeant.

Her loving husband, Bob, passed away Oct. 12, 2012.

Vadis was a member of the Norton Christian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary, the Red Hat Society and a quilting club. She greatly enjoyed playing bingo and gambling trips with her friends and sewing but her greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her great-granddog.

Survivors include: three children, Barry (Dana) Madden, Norton; Rob (Melanie) Madden, Emporia, Kansas; Bobbi (Dean) Wiseman, Norton; one step-son, Jim Madden, Moab, Utah; six grandchildren, Casey and Clay Madden, Norton; Kyle (Sarah) Madden, El Dorado, Kansas; Katie (Thad) Davidson, Emporia; Lucas (Jill) Wiseman, Beloit, Kansas; Thea (Ryan) McMillan, Concordia, Kansas; 10 great-grandchildren, Rylee and Peyton Madden, Ella, Carter and Lucy Davidson, Brooklyn Wiseman, Alex, Ian, Lillian and Olivia McMillan; other relatives and friends.

Vadis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her special cousin, Gloria Hasty Tobias.
