Hays Fire Department
On July 03, 2022, approximately 5:50 p.m. the Hays Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a fire in a detached garage located at 110 W 15th Steet in Hays.
On duty firefighters spotted smoke and flames and notified the dispatch center. Arriving fire crews found fire spreading from the garage to a neighboring structure. Fire crews deployed 2 attack lines to protect both homes and extinguish to the flames. The fire was quickly brought under control.
The electrical power line for the residence was damaged by the fire and Midwest Energy responded to secure the downed power line. The home was occupied at the time. No injuries from the occupants or first responders were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time.
