The Hays school board will have a hearing on the Washington School closure during its regular board meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Rockwell Administration Center.

The board also has on its agenda the resolution that would formally close the school.

The school board has entered into a contract with Overland Property Group to purchase the school for $500,000. The developer plans to remodel the school into apartments.

Early Childhood Connections had been located in the school, but the program was moved to its new location on 13th Street last fall. The Learning Center has been temporarily located in that building. It will move to a temporary location next semester.

The district hopes to move the Learning Center into a remodeled space at Rockwell Administration Center within the next year.

In other business, the board will:

• Hear a financial update from Chris Hipp, assistant superintendent
• Hear an update on the West Central Kansas Special Education Cooperative from Kyle Carlin, director
• Hear a communications report from Superintendent Ron Wilson
• Select a delegate and alternate for the Kansas Association of School Boards conference in December
