Charles G. Hille

Charles Hille, age 89, of WaKeeney, KS, passed on to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Trego Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney with family by his side. He was born on Nov. 9, 1934, in Hays, KS., the son of Henry and Josephine (Krhut) Hille.

Charles graduated from Trego Community High School in 1952. Following a short stint at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS, to play football, Charles returned to WaKeeney to marry his High School sweetheart Darlene Folkers on December 27, 1953. They resided on the Hille ranch where they raised their 4 children. Charles and Darlene celebrated 70 years of marriage.

Charles dedicated his entire life to the family’s Quarter Circle O Ranch where he was committed to preserving the family heritage of ranching and farming. Charles loved being a cattleman and farmer. He was a lifelong member of WaKeeney Presbyterian Church and a believer in Jesus.

Charles enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, building/flying model airplanes and cheering on K State Wildcats. Most of all though, he enjoyed his grandchildren, cheering them on and always enquiring, “what are the kids up to?!”

Charles is survived by his wife of 70 years, Darlene (Folkers) Hille; sons, David Hille of Ransom, KS, Dana (Dana) Hille of WaKeeney, KS; daughters, Darla (Tom) Schroeder of Texhoma, OK, Dee (David) Rademacher of Franklin, TN; grandchildren, Suzanne (Willy) Cadoret, Brandon (Ashley) Hille, Brett Hille, Kyanne Schroeder, Sheridan Schroeder, Jackson Schroeder, Nolan Rademacher, Garrett Rademacher, Mason Rademacher; great-grandchildren, Will Cadoret, Max Cadoret, Abe Cadoret, Wyatt Hille, Madigan Hille, Elias Hille; nephew, Andrew (Ann) Bryan, niece, Barbara Bryan; great-nieces, Josie Bryan, Delilah Bryan Francis. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Josephine (Krhut) Hille; sister, Elizabeth Bryan; brother in-law, Bitts Bryan.

Graveside services will be Monday, July 8, 2024, at 10 AM in the WaKeeney City Cemetery, 501 South 13th Street, WaKeeney, KS 67672.
