
Louise Halfman, 103, of Tulsa, and a former Parsons resident passed away
at 12:31 a.m., Friday February 4, 2022, at her home in Tulsa.
She was born on March 13, 1918, at Ellis, Kansas, to Louise and
Stephanie (Schuster) Locker. Louise grew up at Eilis and attended Ellis
schools graduating from Ellis High School. She then attended Fort Hays
State University where she received a Bachelor of Art in Education.
She and Roy Halfman were married. He preceded her in death on November 15, 1961.
They lived in Rexford, KS where she taught school and Roy was a
principal. They then moved to Parsons where she taught school at Eire
and Galesburg until her retirement. She and Roy also owned and operated
Superior School Supply. They later sold the business.
Following her retirement, she enjoyed visiting with family back in
Ellis and taking many trips with friends. Louise was beloved by the
many students she taught over the years. She received letters and cards
from them up until her passing. Louise was baptized into the Catholic
faith.
She is survived by her sister, Francis Butler of Escondido, CA;
several nieces and nephews; several great, great-great, and
great-great-great nieces and nephews; and a cousin, Lawrence Locker of
Kansas City, KS.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Arthur Locker, and her sister, Blanche Erbert.
A private burial will be held at a later date in the St. Mary’s
Cemetery at Ellis. Memorials are suggested to the Catholic Charities of
Wichita, and these may be left or mailed to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home
