
Loarn Leo Bucl, 69, of Sublette, died Monday, October 25, 2021, in hospice in Kansas City, after a long battle with cancer. He was born October 11, 1952, in La Crosse, KS, to Ernest and Hedy Bucl.
He graduated from Otis-Bison High School and attended Kansas State University, earning a bachelor's degree in Crop Protection. On April 16, 1977, he married Janet Sullivan in Holton. They made their home in Sublette, where he established and ran a business as a crop consultant in the Southwest Kan. region.
Loarn had a passion for all things related to agriculture, including crop production and entomology. He loved to teach and share his knowledge with others. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed sharing these experiences with family and friends.
He was an active member and served on the boards of the National
Alliance of Independent Crop Consultants, Kansas Association of
Independent Crop Consultants, and the Foundation for Environmental
Agriculture Education.
Survivors include his four sons, Casper
(Jenni) of McKinney, TX, Lucas (Lindsay) of Overland Park, KS, Sheldon
of Overland Park, KS, and Colby of Lenexa, KS; three brothers, Craig,
Bradley, & Bryan; one sister, Diana Sunley; and five grandchildren,
Mackenzie, Owen, Carter, Jackson and Leo. He was preceded in death by
his wife, Janet; mother Hedy and father Ernest.
Visitation will
be held from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Bryant
Funeral Home in Great Bend, with prayer service and time of sharing at
7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday,
November 5, 2021, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Timken. Interment
will be in Bohemian National Cemetery, Timken. The family is planning a
celebration of life in Sublette, KS, at a later date.
