Marjorie E. (Todd) VanVleet

Marjorie E. VanVleet, 93, of Goodland, Kansas passed away on Monday, February 15, 2021 at Topside Manor in Goodland.  Marjorie was born on August 1, 1927 to Vivian and Martha (Kruger) Todd in Cheyenne County, Kansas. 

On May 12, 1946, Marjorie married Charles M. VanVleet.  They farmed north of Goodland until Charles’ death in 1996.  Although Marjorie did not work outside of the home, she was a farmer’s wife which says it all. 

After her husband’s death, Marjorie enjoyed playing cards and getting together with friends and family.  She continued to enjoy gardening until just a few years ago.  Marjorie was an accomplished seamstress.  She sewed clothes for herself and her daughters and also sewed the wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses for all three of her daughters.  She then enjoyed sewing baby clothes and toddler outfits for her grandchildren. 

Marjorie is survived by her children, Dennis VanVleet of Texas, Linda VanVleet of Idaho, Barbara (Jim) Waldman of Goodland, and Margaret Beierle of Idaho; brothers-in-law, Dale Thompson of Colorado, Ronald VanVleet of Goodland; sisters-in-laws, Emma VanVleet of Goodland, Wilma Blue of Utah, Esther Smith of Mississippi; seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings:  Clinton, Leonard, Vida, Osa and Elaine; brothers-in-law, Richard VanVleet, Harold VanVleet, Merlin Blue, Otho Wilcher; sisters-in-law, Julie VanVleet and Patsy VanVleet. 

Due to Covid-19 virus, a private graveside service for immediate family was held on Thursday, February 18, 2021.
