NORTON — The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin work on a resurfacing project on a 26.5-mile portion of U.S. Highway 40 in Wallace County the week of April 7.
Project work will involve a mill and overlay and construction of 3-foot paved shoulders starting at the Colorado state line and ending at Pebble Road near Wallace.
Traffic through areas where crews are actively working will be reduced to one lane and directed by flaggers and a pilot car. Travelers should be prepared for delays of up to 15 minutes during daylight hours.
KDOT expects project work to be complete in mid-August, conditions permitting.
APAC-Kansas Inc. Shears Division, of Hutchinson, is the primary contractor with a total contract cost of $11.3 million.
