
The National Weather Service in Dodge City has issued a flash flood watch for portions of northwest Kansas, including Ellis, Rush, Trego, Ness and Lane counties. The watch is in effect from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 10 a.m. Thursday.
There is a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms after 4 p.m. Wednesday, with the chance of precipitation rising to 90 percent in the Hays area after 1 a.m. Thursday.
Between a half and three-quarters of an inch of rainfall is possible as the front moves in. There is a chance of showers into Saturday, with skies expected to clear on Sunday.
The front also will bring a mass of colder air, with high temperatures plunging to the low 60s on Thursday and the high 60s to upper-70s the remainder of the week.
