🏃HHS boys finish 4th at state

WICHITA – The Hays High boys collected four second place finishes and had nine individual and a relay team earn finish in the top eight on their way to a fourth place finish at the 5A state track and field meet in Wichita Thursday.

Jaren Kanak collected a team-high four medals. He finished second in both the 100 meter dash (10.58 seconds) and 200 meter dash (22.06).

He also finished fifth in the boys long jump (20’11”) and was a member of the 4x100 meter relay team that finished third. He was joined on that team by Logan Casper, Bryce Salmans and Malik Bah.

Trey Adams also earned a silver medal in the boys discus (178’7”) and Jordan Dale was second in the high jump (6’4”).

Gaven Haselhorst earned a third place finished (49’11.25”) and Trey Adams was fourth (49’11”) in the shot put.

Tucker Veach placed seventh in the pole vault (12’6”) and Kyler Beckman was eighth in the long jump (20’5”).

The Indians finished with 56 teams points.

Mill Valley was first with 74, St. Thomas Aquinas finished second with 71 and Andover was third with 59 points.

Hays High’s Re Green earned a pair of medals on the girls’ side.

Green finished third in the girls long jump (16’10.5”) and fifth in the triple jump (36’0.75”).

The Indian girls finished in a tie for 20th with 10 team points.

The high school track and field meet continues Friday with classes 4A and 3A. Saturday will feature 2A and 1A.
