
Myron Arthur Scott was born April 18, 1944 in Hill City, Kansas to Georgia (Post) and Roy “Socks” Scott. He passed away at age 82, May 7, 2026 at Dawson Place in Hill City surrounded by his family. He married Alberta McIntire September 2, 1967 at Red Line Church of God near Palco. The marriage produced three children: Vance, Justin and Melissa.
Myron worked bridge construction during the building of I-70 and in other areas of Kansas and at the Hill City Phillips 66 gas station, before working for Kansas Department of Transportation for 35 years, including 20 years as Hill City area foreman. He was well respected by his co-workers and the public and was known for having the best maintained highways in the area.
Myron was a proud veteran who served two years active duty in the Army, four years Army Reserve and two years in the National Guard.
After retirement, he and his wife of 58 years, Alberta, had many years of travel and adventure .They took an epic road trip through Canada and Alaska, spent springs and autumns in Hill City, summers at their cabin in Rosita, Colorado and winters in their RV in Rockport, Texas.
Myron loved his family, the outdoors, camping, fishing, bird hunting, and working with his hands. He enjoyed training and having horses, raising cattle and restoring pickups, classic cars and antique Ford tractors. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, parents, sisters, brothers, and his many nieces and nephews. He was always up for adventure and never shied away from hard work. He could build anything, fix anything and would help anyone build or fix anything.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: Melvin, Leroy and Leland “Pete,” and sister Loletta Nevins; four nephews and two nieces. He is survived by his wife Alberta, of the home; his children: Vance Scott and wife Lori of Collyer, Justin Scott and wife Wendy of Oberlin, and Melissa Winter and husband Nathan of El Dorado, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 11, 2026 from 5pm to 7pm at Stinemetz Funeral Home, 522 N. Pomeroy, Hill City, Kansas.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, May 12, 2026 , at the First Assembly of God Church, 206 North Middle St. Hill City, Kansas.
Burial will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Hill City, Kansas.
Memorials may be made to Dawson Place Nursing Home, in care of Stinemetz Funeral Home.
