🥎 HHS drops regular season finale in Garden City

GARDEN CITY – The Hays High softball team nearly overcame seven errors and a five-run deficit but come up short in their regular season finale, 10-8 at Garden City. Hays dropped their final three games following a seven-game win streak and are 12-8. They’ll find out whom and when they play in next week’s regionals Saturday.

The Indians struck early with three runs in the top of the first but the Buffs rally with a run in the bottom of the inning, six in the second and one in the third.

The Indians rallied with a run in the fourth then tied the game with four in the top of the fifth only to see Garden City score twice in the bottom of the fifth.

Brenna Schwien had three of the Indians 11 hits. Ashlyn Zimmer and Raegan Winter both added two hits. Winter and Elle Dreiling both drove in two runs.

Aubree Thomas allowed only one earned run on 12 hits with two strikeouts and one walk over six innings.
