The TMP-Marian Monarchs make their 12th state tournament appearance Thursday afternoon as they take on Inman in the first round of the 2-1 state softball tournament in Pratt.

The Monarchs qualified for the state tournament by winning the Sylvan Grove Regional and are 21-8 on the season.&nbsp;

As the No. 5 seed they take on No. 4 seed Inman in the first round.

Inman won the Sedgwick Regional and are 17-4.

First pitch of the first game is set for 1:00 p.m. from Green Sports Complex in Pratt on the Monarchs Sports Network.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Cole Ragans allowed one hit in six innings and Freddy Fermin drove in three runs as the Kansas City Royals beat the Detroit Tigers 8-3 on Wednesday for a series sweep.

Ragans (4-3) struck out a career-best 12 while holding the Tigers hitless until Riley Greene’s two-out single in the sixth.

The Royals opened the scoring in the second on Fermin’s one-out RBI double off the top of the left-centerfield wall. One out later, Garrett Hampson followed with an RBI double for a 2-0 lead.

Nelson Velázquez hit his fourth home run into the leftfield fountains to lead off the fourth.

Kansas City took a 4-0 lead in the fifth on three consecutive one-out singles with Vinnie Pasquantino’s RBI hit scoring Maikel Garcia, who extended his hitting streak to 10 games.

Tarik Skubal (6-1) threw five innings, allowing four runs on six hits with two walks and six strikeouts.

The loss snapped Skubal’s 14-game unbeaten streak dating to Aug. 29 last year.

Andy Ibáñez cut the deficit to 4-2 with a two-out, two-run double in the seventh.

Bobby Witt Jr. and Fermin delivered two-run hits in the bottom half of the frame, extending the lead to 8-2.

The Royals won their first series against the Tigers since taking two of three in September 2022. It was Kansas City’s first sweep of Detroit since July 2021.

Colt Keith recorded seven of the Tigers’ 19 hits in the series.

Tigers RHP Jack Flaherty (1-3, 3.79 ERA) opposes Blue Jays (undecided) on Thursday in Detroit.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Bobby Witt Jr. homered twice as the Kansas City Royals beat the Detroit Tigers 10-3 for their fifth straight win on Tuesday night.

Maikel Garcia led off the first with a triple and scored on Witt’s infield hit. Witt stole second and scored when Salvador Perez hit a single to right.

After Kyle Isbel and Garcia singled in the second, Witt hit Casey Mize’s splitter 468 feet — the farthest of his career —&nbsp;<a href="https://www.mlb.com/gameday/746309/video/bobby-witt-jr-s-468-foot-home-run">into the upper deck fountains.</a>

Mize (1-3) surrendered six runs on nine hits with two strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings, the shortest outing of his career.

Garcia drove an RBI triple to right and scored on Witt’s third-inning sacrifice fly to give the Royals an 8-0 lead. Garcia scored three runs while matching a career best with four hits, extending his hitting streak to nine games.

Witt added a solo homer leading off the sixth. It was his fourth multihomer game as he matched a career best with six RBIs.

In the seventh, Hunter Renfroe’s fourth homer of the season capped the scoring.

Kansas City collected six extra-base hits and has at least one extra-base hit in all 50 games this year, one game shy of their franchise record set in 1978.

Alec Marsh (4-1) allowed three runs on five hits and two walks with five strikeouts in six innings. The Royals have won all but one of his eight starts.

Kansas City has led or been tied for all 45 innings of the current homestand and hasn’t trailed since&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/royals-mariners-score-0b62bf25f1441178eafb446f901ba9f2">Wednesday’s loss at Seattle.</a>

Plainville’s Jayden Morris fired a final-round 76 and missed medaling by one stroke. The Cardinals Noah Brewster tied for 29th after a 91.

Heuer Brungardt was disqualified for signing an incorrect scorecoard. The junior, who was tied for 10th after an opening round 78 on Monday, shot an 84 in Tuesday's final round but signed a scorecard which recorded an 83. KSHSAA rules disqualifies any golfer who signs a scorecoard that is lower than the actual score. Brungardt would have finished in 11th place.

Ellinwood’s Drew Heinz, who shot a 66 in round one, finished with a 74 and won the individual title by eight strokes. Sacred Heart won the
team title by 57 shots over Ellinwood. Hoxie placed fifth.

Banker was the only Hays High golfer to advance to the second round after shooting an 84 in Monday's first round.

⛳ HHS's Banker ties for 40th at 5A state

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Fort Hays State's Katie Wagner&nbsp;(women's basketball) was selected as a finalist for the annual Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association's Ken B. Jones Award, presented by Summit Pointe Financial Group, announced Tuesday (May 21) by the conference office. The annual award recognizes the conference's male and female student-athletes of the year.

Wagner and the nine other finalists will be recognized at the 2024 MIAA Awards Celebration, presented by Husch Blackwell, on Monday, June 3 in the Music Hall at the Kansas City Convention Center. The 2023-24 female and male Ken B. Jones winners will be announced during the event as well. Former FHSU softball student-athlete Maddie Holub will be going inducted in the MIAA Hall of Fame that evening at the awards celebration.

Wagner is coming off a tremendous season on the basketball court in 2023-24 that saw her earn MIAA Player of the Year honors. She was also an All-America selection by the WBCA, an All-Central Region First Team selection by D2CCA, an All-MIAA First Team and MIAA All-Defensive Team selection, and was named the MIAA Tournament's Most Outstanding Player when selected to the MIAA All-Tournament Team. For the season, Wagner averaged 17.2 points and 8.7 rebounds per game, recording 14 double-doubles. She scored in double figures in 30 of the 33 games on the season and never had less than eight points in a game. She now ranks fourth all-time in scoring at FHSU with 1,732 points and second in rebounds with 965. With a COVID year of athletic eligibility still in hand, Wagner will return for a fifth and final season at Fort Hays State in 2024-25.

Wagner helped Fort Hays State to its 13th-consecutive season of reaching at least 20 wins, the longest active streak in NCAA Division II and tied for sixth-longest for all NCAA levels in women's basketball. She helped the Tigers to their eighth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last 10 years and ninth overall. Wagner helped the Tigers earn a win in the opening round of the national tournament before falling to eventual national champion Minnesota State in the Central Regional Semifinal. The Tigers finished the season at 25-8 overall.

Overall, Wagner is a three-time All-MIAA selection, earning first-team honors each of the last two seasons and a second-team honor in 2021-22. Academically, she is a two-time CSC Academic All-District selection, two-time recipient of the D2ADA Academic Achievement Award, three-time recipient of the MIAA Scholar-Athlete Award, and four-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.\

Wagner graduated magna cum laude with her bachelor's degree in Accounting in December of 2023 with a cumulative GPA of 3.87. She holds a 4.0 GPA so far in graduate school, working on a master's in Business Administration. She was nominated for Accounting Student of the Year by the FHSU Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting in 2024. Wagner was nominated and selected by accounting faculty for a Graduate Teaching Assistantship following her December 2023 graduation. Back in the summer of 2023, she completed an accounting/analyst internship at Koch Industries in Wichita, Kansas, where she learned and developed new skills through hands-on experience in the accounting profession, including creating a new deferred revenue schedule for the business she supported.

Wagner has also been very active in the community and on campus aside from her time on the court and in the classroom. In April of 2024, she was selected by the MIAA to attend NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum in Bethesda, Maryland. She has been a volunteer at the Hays Night to Shine event, the regional Special Olympics Basketball Tournament, and an adaptive field day for individuals in the community with special needs. Along with members of the FHSU women's basketball team she partnered with Team Impact, which matches children facing serious illnesses and disabilities with college sports teams. She is also an engaged member of Encounter Young Adults, a Christian ministry affiliated with Celebration Community Church.

Myles Menges was Fort Hays State's male nominee for the Ken B. Jones Award in 2023-24. Menges was an All-MIAA Second Team selection in 2023, earning the third All-MIAA honor of his career. He graduated with his bachelor's degree in May of 2023 in Sports Management/Recreation and has been working on his master's in Sports Administration. He is also a two-time CSC Academic All-District and three-time MIAA Scholar-Athlete at FHSU. He has also been active away from the football field and classroom as a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), a mentor for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Ellis County, and a volunteer for Night to Shine, Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas, and Kansas Kids' Fitness Day.

Fort Hays State has now had 18 Ken B. Jones Award finalists since joining the MIAA in 2006-07. Three Tigers have earned the conference's top honor, including Ryan Stanley (2020-21 spring and 2023), Whitney Randall (2020-21 winter) and Kate Lehman (2014-15). FHSU has had at least one finalist for each of the last 12 awards (since 2014-15).Each institution may nominate one female and one male student-athlete. The nominees must have completed at least their junior season of athletics eligibility by June 1 of the academic year of nomination. Jones Award, presented by Summit Pointe Financial Group, announced Tuesday (May 21) by the conference office. The annual award recognizes the conference's male and female student-athletes of the year.Wagner and the nine other finalists will be recognized at the 2024 MIAA Awards Celebration, presented by Husch Blackwell, on Monday, June 3 in the Music Hall at the Kansas City Convention Center. The 2023-24 female and male Ken B. Jones winners will be announced during the event as well. Former FHSU softball student-athlete Maddie Holub will be going inducted in the MIAA Hall of Fame that evening at the awards celebration.Wagner is coming off a tremendous season on the basketball court in 2023-24 that saw her earn MIAA Player of the Year honors. She was also an All-America selection by the WBCA, an All-Central Region First Team selection by D2CCA, an All-MIAA First Team and MIAA All-Defensive Team selection, and was named the MIAA Tournament's Most Outstanding Player when selected to the MIAA All-Tournament Team. For the season, Wagner averaged 17.2 points and 8.7 rebounds per game, recording 14 double-doubles. She scored in double figures in 30 of the 33 games on the season and never had less than eight points in a game. She now ranks fourth all-time in scoring at FHSU with 1,732 points and second in rebounds with 965. With a COVID year of athletic eligibility still in hand, Wagner will return for a fifth and final season at Fort Hays State in 2024-25.Wagner helped Fort Hays State to its 13th-consecutive season of reaching at least 20 wins, the longest active streak in NCAA Division II and tied for sixth-longest for all NCAA levels in women's basketball. She helped the Tigers to their eighth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last 10 years and ninth overall. Wagner helped the Tigers earn a win in the opening round of the national tournament before falling to eventual national champion Minnesota State in the Central Regional Semifinal. The Tigers finished the season at 25-8 overall.Overall, Wagner is a three-time All-MIAA selection, earning first-team honors each of the last two seasons and a second-team honor in 2021-22. Academically, she is a two-time CSC Academic All-District selection, two-time recipient of the D2ADA Academic Achievement Award, three-time recipient of the MIAA Scholar-Athlete Award, and four-time member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.\Wagner graduated magna cum laude with her bachelor's degree in Accounting in December of 2023 with a cumulative GPA of 3.87. She holds a 4.0 GPA so far in graduate school, working on a master's in Business Administration. Wagner was nominated and selected by accounting faculty for a Graduate Teaching Assistantship following her December 2023 graduation. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Fort Hays State seniors Isebel Robben&nbsp;(women's soccer) and Clay Robinson&nbsp;(football) received the 2024 National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) All-American Athlete Award. Both receive the honor based off athletic accomplishments and dedication to strength and training, nominated for the award by Fort Hays State Strength and Conditioning Coach Doug Boucher.

Robben was a two-time All-MIAA selection at goalkeeper for FHSU, earning second-team honors in 2022 and third-team honors in 2023. She was a CSC Academic All-America First Team selection in 2022 at goalkeeper. Robben broke the FHSU single-season record for shutouts in a season with 12 in 2023, topping a record of 11 she previously shared with two other players. Robben played all 1,890 minutes possible in goal for the Tigers in 2023. She also owns the school record for individual shutouts by a goalkeeper in a career with 23. She finished her career with a record of 24-8-10 and an .801 career save percentage with a 0.68 career goals against average. Robben is a double major at FHSU in Accounting and Finance.

Robinson was a member of the Tiger football team for five years and was a December 2023 graduate with a degree in Criminal Justice. He played in a total of 31 games, appearing in all 22 games throughout his junior and senior seasons. As a running back, Robinson had 36 career rushing attempts for 248 yards, producing a 6.9 yards per attempt average. He had four rushing touchdowns as a Tiger. He also saw a good amount of time on Tiger special teams units.

INDIANAPOLIS - NCAA Division II announced the 46 student-athletes who will each receive the 50th&nbsp;Anniversary Scholarship, worth over $1,000.&nbsp;The recipients were announced during the opening ceremonies at the Division II Festival on Monday in Orlando, Fla.

NCAA Division II schools submitted 196 nominations for the commemorative scholarship. Conference offices reviewed their member schools' nominations and selected up to four finalists for review by the Division II Management Council Identity Subcommittee. The subcommittee reviewed all finalist submissions and determined the recipients, awarding one male student-athlete and one female student-athlete from each of the 23 Division II conferences. Fort Hays State tight end Cale Cormaney&nbsp;was chosen as the MIAA's male recipient of the scholarship.

"Congratulations to these deserving student-athletes who exhibit the core values of Division II," said Terri Steeb Gronau, vice president of Division II. "It was important while celebrating the history of Division II that we also recognize and celebrate our student-athlete leaders in a meaningful way.

⛳ Area golfers advance at the State Championships

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Michael Massey and Salvador Perez homered as the Kansas City Royals beat the Detroit Tigers 8-3 on Monday night for their fourth straight win.

Massey opened the scoring in the second inning with a leadoff homer, the first long ball given up this season by Tigers starter Reese Olson after 48 1/3 innings, snapping the majors’ longest homerless streak.

In his next at-bat, Massey stunned Olson with a liner off his right hip while Vinnie Pasquantino scored on catcher Jake Rogers’ throwing error for a 2-0 Royals lead.

After tossing a few warmup pitches, Olson (0-5) exited with a right hip contusion. He threw 2 2/3 innings, allowing the two runs and five hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

Perez led off the sixth with his ninth homer as the Royals greeted reliever Joey Wentz with five consecutive hits. Seven straight batters reached safely while Kansas City scored six runs to build an 8-1 lead.

Michael Wacha (4-4) allowed two runs and six hits in seven innings while walking one with three strikeouts to win his third straight start.

Kerry Carpenter hit his sixth homer in the fourth inning – a one-out solo shot into the leftfield fountains – then doubled and scored in the seventh on Colt Keith’s two-out double. Keith had three of Detroit’s seven hits.

Carpenter’s eighth-inning sacrifice fly capped the scoring.

The Tigers have scored 20 runs while losing 8-of-9 starts by Olson.

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Fort Hays State's Morgan Brasser&nbsp;earned a spot on the 2023-24 Women's Golf Coaches Association All-Central Region team for a second-consecutive season, announced Monday (May 20) by the coaches organization.

The Andale, Kan. native wrapped up her collegiate career with the best single-season scoring average in school history, posting a stroke average of 74.96 across 28 rounds as a senior. 

She won two events this spring and posted six top-5 finishes in 12 events. 

Brasser fired seven round at-or-under par this season, including tying the program record with a 3-under 69 (9/8/23).

Brasser earned All-MIAA honors for the fourth-consecutive season this year, picking up first team honors for the second time after being named honorable mention as a freshman and sophomore. 

The 2022-23 MIAA Player of the Year competed at the NCAA DII Central Regional for a fourth time earlier this month, becoming the first player in school history to reach the NCAA postseason four times in a career.

She played in a school-record 99 rounds in her career, posting a career stroke average of 76.6, which lowered the school record for career stroke average by nearly three strokes. 

Brasser finished her career with a school-record 19 rounds at-or-under par, including a school-record eight sub-par rounds and a school-record 11 rounds at even-par. 

She is the only player in program history with multiple sub-70 rounds in a career, firing three rounds of 69. She tied the school record for top-10 finishes (24) and top-5 finishes (16) while finishing second in school history with six career tournament victories.

Brasser was one of seven MIAA student-athletes listed on the All-Central Region list, with five competitors from the GAC rounding out the 12-person list.

Dreiling was named to the first team as an outfielder. The true sophomore recorded 61 hits while batting .333. Out of the 61 hits, 34 were for extra bases. He hit 15 doubles, 2 triples and 17 home runs.&nbsp;

Dreiling scored 53 runs and drove in 59 and registered a team high 37 walks.

The #1 ranked Volunteers won the SEC regular season title. Their first game in the SEC tournament will be on Wednesday, May 22nd.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Brady Singer stuck out nine, Vinnie Pasquantino hit a three-run triple and the Kansas City Royals completed a sweep of the Oakland Athletics with an 8-1 victory Sunday.

It was the third sweep of the season for Kansas City. It took until September 20 for the Royals to record their third sweep of the season last year.

Singer (4-2) tossed six innings on one-run ball, giving up six hits with one walk and nine strikeouts. It was the fifth time this season that Singer has stuck out six or more and was one shy of his season high. He has gone at least five innings in every start this season.

“That’s what we were hoping for, the early counts and low pitch counts and making them make decisions," Royals manager Matt Quatraro said. "Certainly couldn't ask more for that when it comes to efficiency. To have him set the tone like that and get the early lead that’s all we could hope for.”

Pasquantino hit a three-run pinch-hit triple to highlight a four-run sixth inning for the Royals. It was his first career triple in the Majors. Kansas City ended the day with five extra-base hits.

“The nice thing about the Majors is that we have a batting cage close, so from the third inning on, I’m getting hot for that one opportunity," Pasquantino said. “I’m not coming into the game for my speed; I know it’ll be a high-leverage situation, so I was able to do that today.”

Bobby Witt Jr. went 2 for 3 with a double, a triple and two RBIs. Maikel Garcia had a two-RBI game and extended a six-game hitting streak. Salvador Perez had a two-hit game with an RBI.

JP Sears (3-3) tossed 4 1/3 innings allowing four runs on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts.

Brent Rooker hit his 11th home run of the season with a three-run shot over the left-field bullpen. He leads the team in the category.

Tyler Soderstrom put the A’s on the board with a two-out double in the fourth. Since being recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday, Soderstorm has a hit in six of nine games. Max Schuemann had a two-hit game.

Trailing 2-1 in the fifth, Oakland had a chance to take the lead with bases loaded with two outs, but Singer ended the inning on a Rooker groundout. Oakland left 10 men on base on 11 hits.

“We have to do a better job of scoring on situations to keep ourselves close late in games,” Rooker said. “We just need to take advantage when we have opportunities. We are just going to keep working. The guys stepping into the box are working hard. We are just going to keep pushing through this tough stretch.”

On a 10-game road trip, the Athletics went 1-9, including an eight-game losing streak. It was also the fourth time Oakland has been swept this season.

“I think the at-bats were better the last two days. We pitched better than we had all series,” A's manager Mark Kotsay said. “Sometimes you get into these ruts where you start hitting well but not pitching and vice versa. You just have to push through them.”

The Athletics head home after a 10-day, tri-city road trip hosting the Rockies beginning on Tuesday night. Aaron Brooks (0-1, 3.86 ERA) will start game one for Oakland. Kansas City continues a six-game homestand with a matchup against Detroit beginning Monday night. Michael Wacha (3-4, 4.71 ERA) will take the mound for the Royals.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Seth Lugo struck out 10 and earned his American League-leading seventh victory as the Kansas City Royals beat the Oakland Athletics 5-3 Saturday night.

The Royals improved to 28-19, nine games over .500 for the first time since the end of the 2015 season, when they went on to win the World Series. Kansas City also claimed its eighth series win of the season, a mark the Royals didn't reach until mid-September in 2023.

“With this pitching staff, we don't need much,” second baseman Michael Massey said. "When a hitter is on a hot streak, at what point is he just good and not on a hot streak? I feel like that's where we're starting to get as a team. It's not really a streak. We're just playing the way we're supposed to play.

Oakland lost its seventh straight game, the team's longest skid of the season.

Lugo (7-1) allowed two runs on six hits with a walk in 5 2/3 innings. The 34-year-old right-hander had his second straight double-digit strikeout game and became the eighth Royals pitcher to accomplish that feat. James McArthur picked up his 11th save.

“The starter's job is to pitch deep into the game,” he said. “When (John) Schreiber's having to go multiple innings and three relievers are used, I feel like the standard should be to pitch deeper and to take the load off (the bullpen).”

"You feel really good that he's going to keep you in it” Kansas City manager Matt Quatraro said. ”His stuff looked really good. The home run pitch was just him not getting the ball where he wanted it.

“This was a good test for Lugo. This was the first night when it was really warm and humid, and you could see that they made him work.”

Ross Stripling (1-8) picked up his league-leading eighth loss. The 34-year-old righty allowed four runs on nine hits with no walks and two strikeouts in five-plus innings.

The Athletics had plenty of chances, pounding out 11 hits, but they only pushed across three runs.

“We just didn't get the big hit,” Oakland manager Mark Kotsay said. “They were able to capitalize with two outs. But, offensively, there were better signs.”

The Royals got to Stripling for a pair of runs in the first. Maikel Garcia and Bobby Witt Jr. opened with singles. After the runners advanced to second and third on a groundout, Salvador Perez drove in both with a single to left field.

“I don't care when we score runs,” Quatraro said, “but it's better to get out to a lead. We knew Stripling was going to be tough.”

The Athletics answered in the second. Zack Gelof legged out a double before Seth Brown hit his fourth homer of the season, a 445-foot shot to center field to tie the score.

The Royals regained the lead in the fifth when Vinnie Pasquantino snapped an 0-for-14 slump with a two-out line drive single that scored Garcia. The Royals added to the lead in the sixth on an RBI single by Nelson Velazquez that scored Massey, who led off with a double.

The Athletics closed within a run on an RBI single by Brent Rooker in the seventh. But the Royals got that run back on a leadoff home run by Kyle Isbel, his fourth, in the bottom of the seventh.

The Athletics and Royals will close their three-game series Sunday afternoon. The Athletics will send LHP JP Sears (3-2, 3.96 ERA) to the mound to face RHP Brady Singer (3-2, 2.84 ERA).

⚾️ Seth Lugo claims AL-leading 7th win as the Royals beat A's

LENEXA - Hays High's Izbel Schmidt placed second in the 50 yard freestyle and third in the 100 yard freestyle in Saturday's final day of the&nbsp;5-1A state Swimming and Diving Championships at the Shawnee Mission School District Aquatic Center.

Schmidt had a time of 24.41 in the 50 yard freestyle finals, better than her 24.54 preliminary time. Hillsboro sophomore Lauryn Vogt tied the state record time of 23.77 to win the event.

In the 100 yard freestyle, Schmidt had a time of&nbsp;53.22 which was better than the&nbsp;53.73 in the prelims. McPherson senior Danica Brunk finsihed first (52.77). Topeka Seaman senior Avery Walz finished second (53.17).

Hays High freshman Jaylen Hughes finished 16th in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 59.63. She had a time of 58.36 in Friday's prelims to qualify for the finals.

Schmidt and Hughes were also on the the Indians 200 yard and 400 yard freestyle relay teams that both placed&nbsp; placed 11th along with Lucy Tippy and Brecklyn Wahlmeier.

Ragans (3-3) walked two and struck out seven, rebounding from a 9-3 loss at the Los Angeles Angels when he allowed seven runs and eight hits. He has three scoreless starts of at least six innings this season.

Chris Stratton and Matt Sauers finished the four-hitter, the ninth time Oakland has been held to four hits or fewer.

Oakland has been outscored 36-6 during its losing streak, which dropped the A's to 19-28.

Kansas City went ahead in the first when Salvador Perez hit a two-out, run-scoring infield single. Perez was called out by first base umpire Ryan Additon, but a video review ruled Perez beat the throw from third baseman Brett Harris.

Massey hit a two-run homer off Austin Adams and Maikel Garcia a three-run drive against Brandon Bielak in a five-run sixth.

Mitch Spence (3-2) gave up one run and five hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Shea Langeliers hit a two-run homer off Sauers in the ninth, his 10th this season.

Oakland activated Bielak, a day after he was acquired from Houston for cash. LHP Hogan Harris was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas.

Former Hays High standout high jumper Jordan Dale was named&nbsp;USTFCCCA Outdoor All-Region honors, announced Friday by the coaches association.

Dale is the No. 5 seed in the upcoming Division II National Championships after clearing 2.17m (7-01.50) at the MIAA Championships two weeks ago. He is making his second NCAA outdoor championship appearance and his third NCAA Championship appearance overall. He finished 11th at the 2023 Outdoor Championships and was eighth at the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships earlier this year.

All-region honors go to the top-five individuals in each event from each region.

NEW ORLEANS - The Fort Hays State men's and women's track and field teams earned six USTFCCCA Outdoor All-Region honors, announced Friday by the coaches association. The Tiger women had four honorees, while two from the men's squad earned the distinction.

The top five individuals in each event from each region earn All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top three relay teams.

It is his second All-Region honor in the steeplechase, also earning the distinction in 2021.Clark grabbed his fourth All-Region honor and second of the season thanks to a season-best clearance of 17-3.5 in the pole vault. This is the second time Clark has earned All-Region honors outdoors.Brown received All-Region honors in the javelin for a third time in her career, also picking up the award as a freshman in 2021 and as a junior in 2023. She ranks sixth in all DII this season with a top heave of 158-2.Savolt collected her second career All-Region award, picking up the honor in the 400m hurdles for a second-consecutive season. She posted a season-best time of 59.59 in the event earlier this season at KU.Vath earned All-Region accolades for a second time this season after also receiving the award at the Central Region Cross Country Championships, finishing 13th. She picked up the honor in the 5,000m run with a season-best time of 16:52.41 in April in California.Baalmann is a first-time recipient of the All-Region honor. She set the school record with a top clearance of 13-0.25 this season.&nbsp;&nbsp;
