HAYS – The TMP-Marian Monarchs baseball team earned a split doubleheader
Friday night in the first two games of the season. The Monarchs won the first
game 18-3 but dropped the second game 10-3 at TMP Field in Hays.

The Monarchs used timely hitting and took advantage of
Larned mistakes in the first game of the day as they go on to win 18-3.

Larned scored the first three runs of the game, in the top
of the first inning, taking advantage of four walks from TMP starter Ty Schmeidler
and an error.

The Monarchs though wasted no time getting two runs back in
the bottom of the inning, scoring on an error and an RBI groundout by Kendall
Walker.

TMP continued to pile it on in the second inning, sending
15 men to the plate while scoring nine runs in the inning for an 11-3 lead. TMP
benefitted from six walks and two hit-by-pitches, scoring on five of them. They
also scored on a pair of errors and Walker drove in two more runs with a single.


Walked added another RBI single in the third and a second two-run
second in the fourth as TMP went on to the 18-3 win in four innings.

The six RBI’s is a new career-high for Kendall Walker, he
was three-for-four in game one. Schmeidler collected a pair of hits and RBI’s
in the game as well.

Schmeidler got the win, allowing three runs, two earned with
five walks and three strikeouts in two innings.

&nbsp;GAME 2: Larned 10,
TMP 3 In the second game of the doubleheader an old teammates for
some of the Monarchs, La Crosse’s Caden Morgan, limited TMP to just three
unearned runs in three and two-thirds innings in a 10-3 Larned win.

The Monarchs were held off the scoreboard until the they
plated three runs in the bottom of the fourth.

By that time TMP was already trailing 5-3. TMP scored single
runs on a pair errors and added a third on a wild pitch. &nbsp;

Larned scored in all but the fourth inning.

TMP threatened in the final three innings of the game but
were able to put any runs across as they come up short, falling 10-3.

Carson Liles struggled with him command and was the tough-luck
loser. He allowed five unearned in two innings. He recorded three walks and
three strikeouts.

TMP drops to 1-1 on the season and will travel to Ellinwood
on Tuesday.

⚾ Monarchs split with Larned in season opener

HAYS, Kan. – The Fort Hays State track and field program picked up three provisional marks Friday, at the FHSU Spring Invite hosted at the FHSU Track and Field Facility in Hays, Kan. Sophomore standout Annabeth Baalmann&nbsp;vaulted her way into&nbsp;another school record. She now holds the record in both indoor and outdoor women's pole vault.

The Tigers finished with four champions on the day, with a plethora of top five finishes. Trevor Medina&nbsp;won the men's 800 meters, completing the event in 1:54.32. Ethan Lang and Aaron Mangan&nbsp;finished close behind for a 1-2-3 Tiger finish.\

Jaycee Vath&nbsp;won the 1,500-meter run, finishing in 4:54.52. Regan Hodsden, junior long-distance runner, finished close behind, in fourth. Maggie Remsberg, representing the Tigers in the women's 100-meter hurdles, finished on top completing the event in 14.84. The Tigers' last winner of the day was senior Addie Berens. She won the women's javelin, throwing 147-11.0 feet, a provisional qualifying mark.

Toby Wahlmeier&nbsp;finished the day off with two new personal bests, one for finishing third in the 100-meter dash and the other for finishing second in the 200-meter dash. Kinley Brown&nbsp;notched a personal best as well in the women's 200 meters, where she finished in third with a time of 24.89. The 1,500-meter men finished 2-3-4 with Ethan Fisher, Jaret Pfizenmaier, and Lucorien Deboest crossing the line in succession.

The Tiger pole vaulters had themselves a day, with Baalmann notching yet another school record to continue&nbsp;her historic sophomore season. Baalmann tops the previous record of 12-8.25 feet that Selam Ball vaulted back in the 2018 outdoor season.&nbsp;On the men's side, Brady Deges&nbsp;finished with a vault of 15-10.25, a new personal best. Kurtis McCormick&nbsp;finished third in the men's pole vault for vaulting 15-4.25.

Keamonie Archie&nbsp;jumped a wind-aided national qualifying mark in the long jump, while Jayme Hargerman&nbsp;(long jump) and Abby Rueschhoff&nbsp;(triple jump) showed out on the women's side by finishing&nbsp;second in their respective events. Freshman Kyreese Groen&nbsp;posted a second-place finish in the triple jump, and finished top five in the long jump.

Following a successful FHSU Spring Invite, the Tigers will embark on separate journeys ahead, with some athletes competing in the Texas Relays in Austin, some at the WashU Distance Carnival in St. Louis, Missouri, and more at the Central Nebraska Challenge in Kearney, Nebraska.

 </figure>FHSU AthleticsHAYS, Kan. – The Fort Hays State track and field program picked up three provisional marks Friday, at the FHSU Spring Invite hosted at the FHSU Track and Field Facility in Hays, Kan. Sophomore standout Annabeth Baalmann&nbsp;vaulted her way into&nbsp;another school record. She now holds the record in both indoor and outdoor women's pole vault.The Tigers finished with four champions on the day, with a plethora of top five finishes. Trevor Medina&nbsp;won the men's 800 meters, completing the event in 1:54.32. Ethan Lang and Aaron Mangan&nbsp;finished close behind for a 1-2-3 Tiger finish.\Jaycee Vath&nbsp;won the 1,500-meter run, finishing in 4:54.52. Regan Hodsden, junior long-distance runner, finished close behind, in fourth. Maggie Remsberg, representing the Tigers in the women's 100-meter hurdles, finished on top completing the event in 14.84. The Tigers' last winner of the day was senior Addie Berens. She won the women's javelin, throwing 147-11.0 feet, a provisional qualifying mark.Toby Wahlmeier&nbsp;finished the day off with two new personal bests, one for finishing third in the 100-meter dash and the other for finishing second in the 200-meter dash. Kinley Brown&nbsp;notched a personal best as well in the women's 200 meters, where she finished in third with a time of 24.89. The 1,500-meter men finished 2-3-4 with Ethan Fisher, Jaret Pfizenmaier, and Lucorien Deboest crossing the line in succession.The Tiger pole vaulters had themselves a day, with Baalmann notching yet another school record to continue&nbsp;her historic sophomore season. Baalmann tops the previous record of 12-8.25 feet that Selam Ball vaulted back in the 2018 outdoor season.&nbsp;On the men's side, Brady Deges&nbsp;finished with a vault of 15-10.25, a new personal best. Kurtis McCormick&nbsp;finished third in the men's pole vault for vaulting 15-4.25.Keamonie Archie&nbsp;jumped a wind-aided national qualifying mark in the long jump, while Jayme Hargerman&nbsp;(long jump) and Abby Rueschhoff&nbsp;(triple jump) showed out on the women's side by finishing&nbsp;second in their respective events. Freshman Kyreese Groen&nbsp;posted a second-place finish in the triple jump, and finished top five in the long jump.UP NEXTFollowing a successful FHSU Spring Invite, the Tigers will embark on separate MANHATTAN, Kansas –&nbsp;K-State, the four-seed in the Albany 2 region, led wire-to-wire on Friday afternoon, as the Wildcats downed Portland, 78-65, in the first round of the 2024 NCAA Tournament at Bramlage Coliseum on Friday afternoon. With Friday's win, K-State has now advanced at least one round in the NCAA Tournament for the 13th time.

K-State (26-7) has secured 26 wins this season, the most in the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/coaches/jeff-mittie/2161">Jeff Mittie</a>&nbsp;era and most by the Wildcats since the 2002-03 season (29). This is the sixth 26-win or better season in program history.

For the sixth time this season the trio of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/gabby-gregory/11191">Gabby Gregory</a>&nbsp;(22 points),&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/ayoka-lee/11193">Ayoka Lee</a>&nbsp;(21 points) and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.kstatesports.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/serena-sundell/11197">Serena Sundell</a>&nbsp;(16 points) scored in double figures in the same game. This was the first time Kansas State has had multiple players score 20 or more points in the same NCAA Tournament game since March 19, 2005 against Bowling Green when Kendra Wecker (25) and Laurie Koehn (22) reached the marks.

Gregory scored a season-high 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including 3-of-7 from beyond the arc and 5-of-6 from the charity stripe. Her 22 points were a career-high for an NCAA Tournament game.

Lee tallied 21 points on 7-of-12 shooting and a game-high nine rebounds. With her 21 points, Lee scored a career-high for an NCAA Tournament game and notched her second career NCAA Tournament game with 20 or more points.

Sundell carded a career-high for an NCAA Tournament game with 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting including 3-of-4 from long range, dished out nine assists and hauled in five rebounds. Sundell's nine assists were the second-most in a K-State NCAA Tournament game and the most since Shalee Lehning set the school record with 13 against Drexel on March 21, 2009.

Portland (21-13) was paced by Maisie Burnham with 21 points, while Kianna Hamilton-Fisher added 12.&nbsp;&nbsp;

🏀 K-State women collect NCAA first round win over Portland

KEARNEY, Neb. – The Fort Hays State softball team picked up a pair of much-needed wins in MIAA play on Friday at Nebraska-Kearney. After dropping their first four games of conference play this season, the Tigers got on track with a sweep of the Lopers by scores of 4-1 and 9-2. FHSU improved to 16-12 overall, now 2-4 in the MIAA, and UNK moved to 13-16 overall, 1-5 in the MIAA.

FHSU has now won seven of its last eight games and never trailed on Friday. The Tigers picked up their first wins in Kearney since the 2018 season and now have a four-game win streak against the Lopers going back to last season.

Peyton Shepard, Carly Stucky and Loren Beggs walked in the first inning to&nbsp; set up a 2-RBI single by Lilliana Ramirez-Johnson. In the second, Audrey Gillespie&nbsp;and Shepard drew walks to set up an RBI single by Stuke. Regan Curry&nbsp;hit by a pitch in the sixth, moved up on a wild pitch, then came in to score on a Gillespie RBI single.

Savanah Egger&nbsp;surrendered just two hits to the Lopers through the first five innings, but ran into a bit of trouble in the sixth when she allowed three. An RBI single gave the Lopers their only run of the game. Egger had to dance out of danger when the Lopers loaded the bases with two outs, but she ended the threat by fielding a comebacker and tossing it to first for the third out.

Egger registered another complete-game win for the Tigers, moving to 9-5 on the season. She struck out four and won her fourth straight decision.

Game 2: Fort Hays State 9, Nebraska-Kearney 2 The Tigers used two big innings to hold off the Lopers in game two. FHSU scored three times in the third for a 3-0 lead, saw UNK score single runs in the fifth and sixth to get within one, but then put the game away with six more runs in the seventh.

A Peyton Shepard&nbsp;single and Sarah TIffany&nbsp;walk eventually set up a 2-RBI single by Loren Beggs&nbsp;to put the Tigers on top in the third. A throwing error by the Lopers on a fielder's choice allowed another run to score.

The Lopers manufactured a run in the fifth with an RBI single and then Bailey Carlson&nbsp;entered in relief for the Tigers in the sixth to minimize damage after the Lopers loaded the bases with no outs. UNK pushed one run across, but Carlson used three-straight ground balls to third base to get out of the jam.

The Tigers got the runs back the Lopers scored and more in the seventh when Shepard and Tiffany started a rally with back-to-back triples to make it 4-2. A Loper error allowed another run to score, then Madison Pierce, Regan Cyrry and Advsen Burghart&nbsp;all picked up RBIs, and yet another Loper error plated a sixth run in the inning as the Tigers ran away with the win.

Morgan Schmidt&nbsp;threw the first 5 innings for the Tigers, allowing two runs (one earned). Carlson picked up her first save of the season with her solid relief effort over 2 innings of work, recording two strikeouts.

The Tigers (18-10, 6-8 MIAA) limited the best scoring offense in the country to two runs over the first four innings before the Mules (24-4, 12-2 MIAA) pushed across 11 runs in the final two innings of the contest.

Fort Hays State managed a pair of singles in the top of the first but were unable to score before the Mules manufactured their first run of the game in the home half of the inning. The Tigers put two men in scoring position with one out in the top of the second, but UCM got out of the inning with back-to-back strikeouts. The Mules then doubled their lead with a solo home run in the bottom of the second.

Tiger starter Ty Riley&nbsp;left one man on base in the third before working out of a two-on, one-out jam in the fourth to keep the score at 2-0. The Tiger bats were unable to take advantage, however, with the Mules sitting down 14 consecutive FHSU hitters.

Central Missouri took control in the fifth inning with seven runs, six of which were unearned, before scoring four more in the sixth. The Tigers had runners on second base in the sixth and seventh after doubles from Isaiah Ural and Trey DeGarmo, but FHSU was unable to push across a run in either frame.Ural had two hits in the contest, with DeGarmo and Cesar Saavedra&nbsp;contributing the only other two hits for FHSU.&nbsp;

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Nicolas Timberlake of Kansas swears he got fouled. If he did, Samford’s A.J. Staton-McCray insisted, then “I guess Casper hit him.”

The fourth-seeded Jayhawks took advantage of what looked like a phantom foul in the waning seconds Thursday night that set up two key free throws by Timberlake for a 93-89 victory in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

The 13th-seeded Bulldogs used their frenetic press and deep bench to trim a 22-point deficit to one with less than a minute left. They were trapping KU in the backcourt when Timberlake took a long pass in stride as he was streaking toward the basket.

As he went up to dunk, Staton-McCray came from behind and blocked the shot, appearing to touch nothing but ball.

The whistle blew and Timberlake calmly made both free throws with 14.7 seconds left to help Bill Self's team push the lead to three and set up a second-round meeting against Gonzaga.

“I was definitely fouled on the breakaway,” Timberlake said.

Well, maybe not, according to Staton-McCray.

“I feel like it was a great play by me,” he said “Terrible call.”

The debate will play out for about a day back in Lawrence, where bigger things await, but will linger longer in Birmingham, where tiny Samford, champion of the Southern Conference, was denied the first tournament victory in program history.

“I thought A.J. made an incredible play, you know what I’m saying?” Samford coach Bucky McMillan said. “I’m not faulting the call. You can see it different ways. But I was really proud of our guys’ ability to go make a play.”

The call certainly didn't detract from the game Hunter Dickinson had for Kansas.

Playing with a sleeve on to protect his recently dislocated right shoulder, the KU center finished with 19 points, 20 rebounds and four blocks. KJ Adams Jr., led the Jayhawks with 20 points, while Timberlake finished with 19 after his two game-deciding free throws.

Self’s team came into the tournament slumping — a popular pick to go down early without leading scorer Kevin McCullar Jr. (knee) and having lost four of its last five.

The Jayhawks play on. But the Kansas coach wouldn't play into the good call-bad call debate.

“I thought Nic attacked the basket well,” Self said. “He’s a much better athlete than what a lot of people think. He attacked it strong, just like he should.”

That he had legs left to do that was a feat, given the way Samford played fullcourt basketball for 40 minutes, slowly wearing down a KU rotation that had essentially been reduced to six players.

Achor Achor had 23 points and eight rebounds for Samford, including a tomahawk jam with 38 seconds that cut the Bulldog deficit to two.

Dickinson then hit Adams with a long pass for a dunk, but Jaden Campbell (18 points) answered with a 3-pointer for the Bulldogs to set up the crazy finish.

Kansas, and the refs, walked off the court to lusty boos from the rowdy Samford contingent, many of whom stuck around, calling up replays of the foul call on their phones.

The Jayhawks won this game, but they were forced to do it Samford’s way. The Bulldogs rushed Kansas into tying its season high with 18 turnovers.

The tradeoff was that Kansas shot 60% from the floor and made this look like a dunk contest at times. Of KU's 35 field goals, 14 were layups and eight were slams

The biggest shot, though, was the one that didn’t go in by Timberlake.

“I’m not blaming the whistle (but) if there is no whistle, we’re going to have the numbers advantage going the other way to advance to round two,” McMillan said. "That’s how close the game was and that’s how well our guys played when we were down 22.”

The first tipoff Saturday in Salt Lake City will be at 10:45 a.m. local time between Arizona and Dayton, with the Kansas-Gonzaga matchup to follow. This will mark the third matchup between the programs; they split the last two.

A technical foul on the Samford bench gave Kansas two easy points in the first half that turned out to be important in a game this close. Samford officials said they weren't told which coach was slapped with the ‘T,’ which was officially charged to the bench.

ATLANTA - Fort Hays State's&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/katie-wagner/7531">Katie Wagner</a>&nbsp;was listed on the 2024 WBCA NCAA Division II Coaches' All-America list as an honorable mention selection, announced Thursday. Wagner was one of 40 players in Division II to earn All-America honors from the Coaches Association this season.

Wagner adds All-America status to an already impressive 2023-24 résumé that includes MIAA Player of the Year honors, first team All-MIAA accolades, a spot on the MIAA All-Defensive Team, first team D2CCA All-Central Region status, MIAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors and two recognitions as MIAA Player of the Week.

Wagner was an unstoppable force on the floor this season for the Tigers, with the junior averaging 17.2 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.2 steals per game. She ranked third in the MIAA in scoring, third in rebounds and second in steals. Wagner recorded 14 double-doubles in 33 games, second-most in the MIAA and 17th-most in all Division II. She led the MIAA and ranked 17th in DII with 210 field goals made while also leading the league and ranking 16th nationally with 467 field goal attempts.

The Maize, Kan. native scored in double figures 30 times this season, including 12 games with at least 20 points scored and two games with 30 or more points. She was one of just two players in the MIAA with multiple 30-point games this season. Wagner recorded four-consecutive double-doubles in the postseason, becoming the first Tiger with at least four double-doubles in a row since 2019.

Wagner finished the season with 569 points, fifth-most in a single season in program history, while ranking ninth with 287 rebounds and ninth in steals with 72. She now has 1,732 points in her career, fourth-most in program history, while ranking second in school history with 965 career rebounds and ninth with 183 career steals.

She helped the Tigers to 25 wins on the year, tied for the sixth-most in a season in school history. The Tigers surpassed 20 wins for the 13th-consecutive season, extending the longest streak in Division II.

Wagner is the sixth player in program history to earn All-America status and the fourth to do so during the NCAA DII era. She is the first Tiger All-American since Jaden Hobbs earned WBCA honorable mention All-America status in 2020-21.Wagner is one of two MIAA players to earn the distinction this season, joined by Central Missouri's Brooke Littrell on the honorable mention list.

HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State Softball moved to 14-12 overall on the season by splitting a pair of games with Colorado School of Mines on Wednesday afternoon in at Fleharty Family Field. The Tigers had a late rally in game one that came up a run short in a 4-3 loss, but bounced back for a 7-1 win in the second contest. Colorado School of Mines moved to 12-14 overall for the season.

Game 1: Colorado School of Mines 4, Fort Hays State 3 Fort Hays State had a tough time solving Colorado School of Mines starter Sadriena Rodriguez through the first six innings, scratching out just three hits in that span. The Orediggers built a 4-0 lead with a run in the first, two in the second, and one in the fifth, and it proved to be just enough for a win as FHSU rallied for three runs in the seventh.

Lilliana-Ramirez-Johnson started the seventh-inning rally with a single and&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/softball/roster/madison-pierce/7746">Madison Pierce</a>&nbsp;followed with a hit to put runners at second and third. After a second out was recorded, the Tigers really made the game interesting with a big two-out rally. Audrey Gillespie&nbsp;doubled home a pair of runs and then&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/softball/roster/peyton-shepard/7749">Peyton Shepard</a>&nbsp;notched an RBI single to make it 4-3. Sarah Tiffany&nbsp;walked and then Carly Stuke&nbsp;sent a laser single to left field that was hit too sharply to score Shepard and loaded the bases. Unfortunately, a pop out left the potential tying and winning runs stranded in scoring position.

Rodriguez lasted 6 2/3 innings for the Orediggers before handing the ball to Allison Westbrook, looking to get the final out. Westbrook struggled to get that last out, having to face four batters to get it and record her first save of the season. Rodriguez picked up the win with three strikeouts.

Morgan Schmidt&nbsp;allowed three runs in 1 2/3 innings before handing the ball to&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/softball/roster/bailey-carlson/7738">Bailey Carlson</a>, who allowed just one run in 5.1 innings of relief. Carlson struck out four and allowed just two of Colorado School of Mines' seven hits in the game.

Game 2: Fort Hays State 7, Colorado School of Mines 1 The late-inning success at the plate from game one carried over to game two for the Tigers. They pounded out 13 hits to aid&nbsp;<a href="https://fhsuathletics.com/sports/softball/roster/savanah-egger/7741">Savanah Egger</a>&nbsp;in another complete-game effort in the pitching circle.

The Tigers grabbed an early lead in the first when a wild pitch scored Sarah Tiffany, who was hit by a pitch earlier in the inning. FHSU broke the game open in the third with four runs. The rally began with a Carly Stuky single followed by a Loren Beggs&nbsp;double. That set up an RBI single on the infield by Alondra Dominguez&nbsp;as her ball was tough to reach for the shortstop. Madison Pierce&nbsp;loaded the bases with a single, then Regan Curry&nbsp;had a funny spinning ball to the right side for a hit that drove in another run. Audrey Gillespie&nbsp;followed that with a two-RBI single.

The Tigers added on in the fourth when three-straight singles by Beggs, Dominguez, and Lilliana Ramirez-Johnson&nbsp;set up a pair of run scoring opportunities. A passed ball plated one run, then a sacrifice fly RBI by Pierce plated another. 

Peyton Shepard&nbsp;led the Tiger hit parade with three in the game, while Beggs, Dominguez, and Gillespie all had two.

Egger struck out four Orediggers and scattered just four hits in the game. She moved to 8-5 overall on the season with the complete game.

Fort Hays State hits the road this weekend for a conference doubleheader at Nebraska-Kearney. Originally scheduled for Saturday, the teams will now play on Friday (March 22) due to weather forecasted for the Kearney area this weekend. The games begin at 1 p.m.&nbsp;&nbsp;

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Fort Hays State senior golfer Morgan Brasser&nbsp;has been named MIAA Women's Golfer of the Week for a second time this season, announced Wednesday (March 20) by the league office.

Brasser&nbsp;picked up the honor after winning the Midwest Intercollegiate Invitational in Bolivar, Mo., her fifth-career tournament victory. She finished the week with a two-round total of 1-over 145. Brasser opened the tournament with a 1-over 73 in round one before firing an even-par 72 in round two. She birdied three of her last four holes to secure the win, including a birdie on her final hole of the week to win by one stroke.

The Andale, Kan. native led the field with seven birdies through the 36-hole event, two more than any other competitor in the field. She led the field in par-5 scoring at 2-under and in par-4 scoring at even par. Brasser now has five top-five finishes in eight events this season. The second round was her 18th career round with a score at-or-under par.

This is Brasser's sixth weekly honor from the conference in her career. She lowered her season stroke average to 74.06 and her career stroke average to 76.6.Brasser and the rest of the Tigers will next travel to St. Joseph, Mo. for the Holiday Inn Express Women's Spring Invitational March 25-26, where Brasser is a two-time champion.&nbsp;&nbsp;

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — Payton Sandfort scored 30 points and made seven 3-pointers to lead Iowa over Kansas State 91-82 on Tuesday night in the NIT.

Sandfort added 12 rebounds for the Hawkeyes (19-14). Ben Krikke scored 24 points while going 9 of 15 and 5 of 8 from the free-throw line and added 11 rebounds and three steals. Owen Freeman had 10 points and shot 3 of 6 from the field and 4 of 5 from the free-throw line.

Dai Dai Ames finished with 16 points and five assists for the Wildcats (19-15). William McNair added 15 points and seven rebounds for Kansas State. Cam Carter had 13 points and three steals.

Iowa took the lead with 19:01 remaining in the first half and did not relinquish it. Sandfort led his team in scoring with 22 points in the first half to help put them ahead 50-39 at the break. Iowa used a 9-0 run in the second half to build a 13-point lead at 69-56 with 13:28 left in the half.

BOLIVAR, Mo. - The Fort Hays State women's golf team placed seventh out of 15 teams at the Midwest Intercollegiate Invitational which wrapped up Tuesday. Morgan Brasser earned her&nbsp;fifth-career victory in the process. Brasser finished the week with a cumulative score of 1-over 145 at Silo Ridge Country Club, the site of the 2024 MIAA Championships, which is a par-72, 5,989-yard layout.

Brasser opened the week with a 1-over 73 in round one, carding three birdies to lead by one stroke. The senior turned in an even-par 72 on day two, including three birdies over her last four holes to win by one over second place and by six over a three-way tie for third. Standing on the 36th tee and tied for the lead, Brasser secured the win with a birdie on the par-5, 462-yard sixth hole.

The Andale, Kan. native led the field with seven birdies across the two rounds, two more than any other player in the tournament. She led the field in par-5 scoring at 2-under and in par-4 scoring at even par. This is Brasser's fifth-career victory and her first of the season. It is her fifth top-five finish in eight tournaments this season. Her second round was Brasser's 18th career round at-or-under par. She lowered her season stroke average to 74.06 and improved her career stroke average to 76.6.

Shauna Lee turned in scores of 86 and 85 to finish in a tie for 48th place. She tied for the team lead by playing the par-3s in 3-over for the week. The junior recorded one birdie for the tournament.

Hayden York&nbsp;fired rounds of 86 and 88 to place in a tie for 55th. She tied for 10th in the field with three birdies on the week.

Ella Neuhauser&nbsp;posted rounds of 92 and 88 to finish in a tie for 69th place. She also carded one birdie on the week, giving Fort Hays State 12 birdies as a team, fourth-most in the field.

The Tigers turned in rounds of 337 and 333 to finish in seventh place, better than eight teams in the field. Central Missouri won the team title by 23 strokes, finishing first after rounds of 307 and 297 to finish at 28-over.

The Tigers will next compete at the Holiday Inn Express Women's Spring Invitational at St. Joseph Country Club in St. Joseph, Mo. March 25-26, where Brasser is a two-time champion.

WICHITA- The East Team claimed the crown at the inaugural KWCA Kansas Shrine Duals on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Fugate Gymnasium on the campus of Newman University in Wichita, Kansas. In a tightly contested dual, the East prevailed by a final team dual score of 72-62, by winning five of the final six matches in the dual. The East had a 15-13 edge in individual match wins during the dual.&nbsp;In addition to the competition on the mat, the wrestlers who competed in the KWCA Kansas Shrine Duals had the opportunity to interact and hear the stories of seven Shriners Children’s Patient Ambassadors who were in attendance to share the real reason behind the event. All net proceeds from the KWCA Kansas Shrine Duals will benefit Shriners Children’s Hospitals.

Kaydawn Haag of Ellis won by fall over Brooklyn Lima in the girls 143 pound division. Trego's two participants lost. Adrian Wynn lost by fall to Zoey Kessler of Cherryvale at 123 and Myah Mattheyer lost by fall to Hailey Horton of Rossville at 155.
