Richard L. Young, 88, of Oden, Arkansas, passed away November 18, 2023, at home with family by his side. Richard was born August 31, 1935, Ellis, KS, to the late Lester and Rena (Reed) Young. 

He is preceded in death by both his parents, daughter Paula Young, brothers Ronnie, Lester and Gordon Young, sister Naomi and Karen Young.

Richard is survived by his wife Nelita Young, sons Richard Young Jr (Teresa), Johnny Young and Byron Dejarlo, daughter Mae Lin Goon (Derek), grandchildren Edmond Young, Estella and Emilia Goon and Kira And Juni Dejarlo, brothers Roger and Doug Young, sisters Cindy Balmer, Roma Young, Kay Turill, nieces, nephews and a host of other friends.

Sue Dulaney, a beloved resident of Phillipsburg, passed away on November 10, 2023, at Logan Manor Nursing Home in Logan, Kansas. She was 85 years old.

Sue was born on December 19, 1937, in Phillipsburg, Kansas, as the only daughter of Guy and Carolyn (Unland) Innes. 

She married H. Lee Dulaney, who preceded her in death on January 21, 1996.

Sue had an illustrious career and worked as an airline stewardess for Central Airlines, an Airline Reservationist for American Airlines, and a Real Estate Agent in Texas for 23 years. She had a deep passion for travel and was a 50-year member and past matron of the Order of Eastern Star Pleiades Chapter 168 and the First Christian Church. &nbsp;She also served on the Westview Housing Authority Board of Directors for the past many years.

Sue is survived by her son Lance Dulaney, grandson Hunter Lee Dulaney, five stepgrandchildren, Chellsie, Amber, Cody, Misty, and Jerimy, along with numerous stepgreat-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Douglas, Von, and Rodney Innes. 

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband H. Lee, brother Ronald Duane Innes, stepdaughters Laurie Lee Kelly, and Mickie Lynn Calisto.

Sue's family has planned for cremation. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2023 in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor LeRoy Herder officiating. &nbsp;Inurnment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg.

LaVern A. 'Ace' Leiker, formerly of Great Bend

LaVern A. “Ace” Leiker, 87, formerly of Great Bend, Kansas, died Friday, November 17, 2023 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born January 11, 1936 in Hays, the son of Leo A. and Angela (Klaus) Leiker. In 1954, he graduated from St. Joseph’s Military Academy, and on August 6, 1965 he was united in marriage to Junalie Ann Archer in Hill City, and they celebrated 42 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on September 20, 2007. 

For over 30 years, LaVern worked in oilfields for Koch Industry, retiring as a foreman. 

He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish in Great Bend and the Great Bend Knights of Columbus Council #862. He enjoyed going to car races with Junalie, fishing, and being at the lake as much as possible. He was a University of Kansas basketball and Kansas City Chiefs fan. LaVern lived simply, was a man of faith, and loved his family.

Survivors include his daughter Karla Cordes of Lawrence, two brothers, Reinhold “Ronnie” Leiker and wife Diana and Art Leiker and wife Marilyn, both of Hays, a sister, Erma Dinges of Hays, four grandchildren, Josha Cates and husband Chris, and Shannon, Easton, and Kaidon Cordes, a great-granddaughter, Jackie Cates, a great-grandson, C.J. Cates who will be born soon, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Junalie, three brothers, Herbert, Erwin “Erv”, and Kenneth Leiker, a sister, Norine Leiker, and an infant son, Ricky Leiker.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church in Hays, with Fr. Damian Richards officiating. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery in Munjor. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 on Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 on Wednesday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. A combined vigil service and rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Donna Loree Smolik, 83, passed away November 17, 2023, at the University of Kansas Health System – Great Bend campus. She was born February 19, 1940, in Great Bend to Dan Ochs, Sr. and Violet (Shetler) Ochs. 

She married Richard Smolik September 12, 1959, in Timken, Kan.&nbsp;

Being raised on a farm north of Otis and a lifetime Rush County resident, Donna worked as a cook and dietary manager for Rush County Nursing Home (Locust Grove), LaCrosse, for 34 years. &nbsp;Developing a good work ethic at an early age, she worked at her mother, Violet's, restaurant, The Nifty Nine, and also the Tastee Freeze, all of La Crosse. She was also known to be an exceptional farm hand and an excellent cook, passing on her love of cooking to her daughter and grandchildren. 

When her children were in school, Donna attended all of their activities whenever she could and loved to watch KU basketball.&nbsp;

Donna was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Timken and attended Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend. Donna will be missed for her servant’s heart and always being ready to lend a hand where needed.

Survivors include, her husband Richard of the home; two sons, Ken Smolik and wife Kris of Great Bend and Gerald Smolik of Timken; a daughter, Mary Bieker and husband Darrell of Great Bend; four grandchildren, Scott Smolik and wife Cassie, Michael Smolik and wife Kendyll, Michala Bieker and Emma Bieker; three great-grandchildren, Olivia Smolik, Connor Smolik and Levi Smolik; and four stepgreat-grandchildren, Kadyn Schmidt, Carsyn Berggren, Brock Berggren and McKoy Berggren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Dan Ochs, Jr.; and three sisters, Leona Hanhardt, Wanda Jacobs and Norma Foos.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 21, 2023, with Altar Society Rosary at 4:00 p.m., the family to receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father Prakash Kola presiding. Interment will be in the Bohemian Cemetery, Timken.

Marilyn Meyer, 84, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 17, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on June 24, 1939 at Great Bend the daughter of Stanley Henry and Lillian Irene (Parker) Dannebohm. 

She married her high school sweetheart Robert L. Meyer on June 16, 1957 at Ellinwood and he preceded her in death on December 11, 2017.

Marilyn attended Ellinwood schools and graduated from Ellinwood High School. 

She moved to Garden City in 1957. She worked as a sales clerk at Martin’s Maternity Wear and Little Britches/ Moods. 

She had a strong protestant faith and attended the First Assembly of God Church and the Turning Point Church of The Nazarene. She enjoyed her flower gardens, watching her squirrels and especially cooking and baking with her family and other family activities.

She is survived by her daughter- Linda and Jerry McVey of Garden City, son- Brian and Kim Meyer of Garden City, son-in-law- Daniel St Clair of Garden City, seven grandchildren- Brandon and Amber Sullivan of Garden City, Scott and Claudia St Clair of Garden City, Kristen St Clair of Kansas City, Kansas, Melissa and Aaron Swick of Houston, Texas, Jennifer and Jacob St Clair-Martinez of Hays, Jamie and Brandon Urquizo of Wichita Falls, Texas and David Meyer of Garden City and eight great-grandchildren- Austin Sullivan, Brady Sullivan, Chase Russell, Jaslene Moncada, Kaylee St Clair, Mason St Clair, Liam St Clair &amp; Brewer Urquizo.

Kevin passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at The University of Kansas Health Systems in Kansas City, KS.&nbsp;

Kevin was born on August 22, 1971, in Midland, TX, the son of Dewey Lynn and Carolyn (Williams) Teel.&nbsp; 

Growing up in west Texas he developed lifelong friendships and a love of the outdoors, spending time camping, floating, and swimming in places such as Big Bend National Park, Sweetwater, and other rivers, reservoirs, and parks around the state of Texas. After high school, Kevin earned a BBA in Accounting from Southwest Texas State and later a BA in Economics from University of Missouri, Kansas City.

 Always seeking an adventure, Kevin joined the Navy Reserves and was deployed during his service to Dubai, Bahrain, UAE, and other stateside east coast ports in Virginia. Kevin started working at KU in 2006 and advanced to become a Business Manager for KU Center for Research in Lawrence, KS. Throughout the last few years, Kevin was also on the look out for a good side hustle, starting Teel Roll Off Containers and Teel Vending.

Kevin met his life partner, Jeri Ann Blain, in 2000 at a K-State vs. Nebraska football game. They made their home in Lawrence, KS where eleven years later their family grew when they welcomed their daughter Brynn. Kevin embraced being a “girl dad” and could be found taking Brynn to school, attending her soccer, dance, and theater events, and going shopping anytime it was requested. Kevin enjoyed chauffeuring both Brynn and Molly (the Pandemic Pup) for treats and pup cups.

 As a family and during “guy” trips with his Texas friends, Kevin enjoyed traveling to Table Rock Lake, Yellowstone National Park, Denver, CO, and Goodland, KS (Jeri Ann’s hometown). Kevin shared his love of floating, boating, and swimming with Brynn during excursions to outdoor and indoor water venues. Kevin was also known to sneak away and wet a fishing line in lakes closer to home.

Survivors include his parents, wife, Jeri Ann Blain, daughter, Brynn Teel, brothers, Mark (Julia) Teel, Michael (Jaime) Teel, grandmother, Doris Teel, and mother-in-law Virginia Blain.

Mary Alice Klinge, 78, passed away November 18, 2023 at Country Living of Larned Home Plus.

She was born December 28, 1944 in Omaha, NE, the daughter of Martin and Elsie Podraza Klinge. &nbsp;

A longtime area resident, she was a retired director of medical records for Central Kansas Medical Center and St. Joseph Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Altar Society, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a Dominican Associate of the Dominican Sisters of Peace. Mary enjoyed cross stitching, scrapbooking, reading, traveling, shopping and going to the casino.

Survivors include brother, Richard (Maureen) Klinge, Edmond, OK; two nieces, Amy Klinge, Stillwater, OK, Kristen (Austin) Case, Edmond, OK. and a great nephew, Griffin Case.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Elsie.

Billy “Bill” Lee Terry, 76, passed away November 17, 2023, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kan. He was born February 7, 1947, at St. Francis, Kan. to John and Bernetta (Wall) Terry. 

He married Sheryl Sleichter June 12, 1968, at Palco, Kan.&nbsp;

Coming from Colby in 1974, Bill was a current Great Bend resident. He was an independent insurance adjuster for many years. 

He was a member of Foundry Community Church, The Gideons International and Promise Keepers. Bill enjoyed fishing and hunting but especially loved to spend time with his family.&nbsp;

Survivors include, his wife Sheryl of the home; two sons, Chad Terry and wife Sue of Castle Rock, Colo. and Shawn Terry and wife Kim of Loveland, Colo.; a daughter, Angie Berringer and husband Todd of Erie, Colo.; six grandchildren, Triston Berringer, Darby Berringer, Kalyssa Berringer, Rocco Terry, Payton Terry and Cameron Terry; and a great-grandson, William Berringer; three brothers, Cecil Terry and wife Mary of Aurora, Colo., Dean Terry and wife Donna of Superior, Neb. and Dwaine Meireis of Scott City, Kan.

Kenneth James Leiker, age 85, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society, Ellis, Kansas.

He was born in Wichita, Kansas to Marcellus and Alice (Roth) Leiker.

Kenneth grew up on the family farm south of Munjor, Kansas where he attended Munjor Grade School and the Schoenchen High School. 

He moved to Norton, Kansas where he worked at Jamboree Foods for over 30 years as a stock man and carry out. After his retirement he moved to Hays. 

While in Norton he was very active with the Norton High School athletics, The Lions Club, The Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the American Legion. He enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, listening to polkas and country/western music.

His survivors include his brothers, Allen F. Leiker and wife, Marie, Hays, KS; Dean Leiker, Tulsa, OK; his sister, Judy Leiker, Atwood, KS; his sister-in-law, Joyce Leiker, Littleton, CO; his nephew, Marc Leiker and wife, Amy, Hays, KS; his nieces, Kathyrn Zolnierz and husband, Marc, Munjor, KS; Kretice Crowson, Denver, CO; and several great-nephews and great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcellus and Alice; his brother, Duane Leiker; and his sister, Juanita Leiker.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 18th and Vine, Hays, Kansas with Father Trinity Savariyar officiating. The burial will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Hays, Kansas.

Sandra Kay Harman, a cherished resident of Phillipsburg, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at the tender age of 75, at the Phillips County Hospital in Phillipsburg.&nbsp;

She was born to Lyle, Jr. and Katherine (Peil) Davis on August 22, 1948.&nbsp;

On June 15, 1991, she married Rex Dean Harman in Phillipsburg, who lovingly survives her.

Sandra is also survived by her son, Kevin Watts, of Bennington, KS; her daughter, Kerri Gwennap, of Phillipsburg; stepson Nick Harman and his wife, Shannon, of Huntsville, AL; stepdaughter Chastity Ingram and her husband, Kent, of Franklin, NE; brothers Howard and his wife, Brenda, of Dodge City, KS, Joe and his significant other, Linda, of Mt. Home, AR, and Loren and his significant other, Ketsani, of Fredricksburg, TX; a sister, Denise Hays and her husband, Bob, of Wichita, KS; seven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Sandra Kay Harman

Sheryl Denny, 74, of Colby, passed away November 13, 2023. She was born April 3, 1949, to Harry and Maxine Nickelson. 

She graduated from Oakley High School in 1967 and was Miss Northwest Kansas in 1968. 

She attended Fort Hays State University where she was a proud member of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She graduated in 1971, but at the prospect of moving back to western Kansas to settle down, she opted to jump into her sorority sister’s car and drive to Chicago to join United Airlines as a flight attendant. 

She married the father of her children in 1974 and moved to California where she spent the next two decades giving birth to and raising six daughters. 

Fate finally caught up to her in August 1994 when she married Charles Denny, a farmer from western Kansas and moved home to Colby. 

She spent the rest of her life farming, attending graduations, spoiling her dogs, loving her kids and grandkids, and finding the perfect gift for everyone on QVC. Even at the end, she continued giving to others by donating her organs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Maxine Nickelson, and brother, Jerry Nickelson.

She is survived by her husband Charles Denny, daughters Megan Cassidy, Katherine Cassidy, Christine Cassidy, Ellen Cassidy, Maureen Yost, and Siobhan Gray, and 10 grandchildren, and two stepkids, JJ Denny and Kristy Smith, and 13 stepgrandkids.

A celebratory memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2023, at The Gathering Place in Colby followed by fellowship. Following her wishes, she has been cremated and will be laid to rest at a later date next to her brother and parents at the Oakley City Cemetery.

Jerry Duayne Orebaugh, 75, died Monday, November 13, 2023, at his home in Garden City, Kansas. He was born May 23, 1948, in Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Leo Wilson and Edna Irene (Jurgensen) Orebaugh.

Jerry grew up in Great Bend, Kansas where he attended schools and graduated from Great Bend High School in 1967. He later lived in Manhattan, KS, Wichita, KS, and McPherson, KS before moving to Garden City in 1977 to work for his very good friend Al Chappel and his family. He later moved to Ashland, KS before returning back to Garden City. 

Jerry spent most of his working career in retail but was most known for his local and corporate management of lumber yards. Jerry was well respected in every community that he was a part of and had a humble heart, generous spirit, and was well known for his kindness.

Survivors include three children Jeff (Choiseul) Orebaugh of Garden City, KS, Suzie (Matt) Swenson of Menomonie, WI, and Joey (Hazel) Orebaugh of Wilsey, KS; grandchildren Micah, Caleb, Jadon, Levi, Justus, Joshua, Hosanna, Jeremiah, Judah, Hallielujah, Hannah, Braidyn Orebaugh, Liv Swenson, &amp; Kai Swenson; Great-Grandchildren Arielle, Elijah, Adalynn, Zekiah, Arianna, Emma, and Esme Orebaugh; stepchildren Alvin Howard, Regina Howard, and Terry Howard, and numerous more grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jerry will also be remembered and loved by his sisters Ulanda Jackman of Pratt, KS and Jolene Peters of Great Bend, KS; and brother Randy Orebaugh of Great Bend, KS. 

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Turning Point Church of the Nazarene in Garden City, Kansas with Rev. Chad Ulrich officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City. Visitation hours are from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City.

SCOTT CITY — The Last Ride.&nbsp; God’s Pickup Men arrived on 11-14-2023 for Kyle D. Glunz after his lifelong ride with a score of 87. Kyle’s final out was at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City, Kansas. &nbsp;

Kyle was born August 7, 1936, to Fred and Lela Glunz in Elsie, Nebraska.&nbsp; Kyle was welcomed home by two sisters and later, four more sisters and one brother. 

After graduating from Elsie High School in 1954, he married Kay Kerchal in 1957 and to this union, three children were born. 

Kyle attended McCook Junior College and then went on to graduate from Kearny State College in 1961. &nbsp;

After graduating he began a career in education and coaching in Upland, Nebraska, and later in agri-business which took the family to Scott City, KS.&nbsp; He later married Karalea Crouch in Leoti, Kansas. Later in his agribusiness career, he moved to the Goodland, KS, and Burlington, CO area where he retired.

Kyle was a cowboy.&nbsp; He was instrumental in helping to start the rodeo club while attending Kearny State College. Kyle was a bull rider, a roper, and a horseman. He continued to enjoy watching rodeos throughout his life. Kyle cherished his family above all and was always eager to talk about his children and grandchildren. Kyle was a good friend, always ready to extend a helping hand.

Kyle was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Fred, and one sister, Donna Peterson, and brothers-in-law, Robert Hutchinson II, Jerry Peterson, Ron Spadoni, Rod Gifford, Alan Detwiler, and Jim Lanthrip.

On November 17, 2023, at the Belleville, KS Health and Rehab Center, Charles John "Cowboy" Kitzke left this life to go to the big roundup in the sky at the age of 74. &nbsp;He was born on June 8, 1949, in Logan, KS, to Paul T., Sr. and Lois Louise (Pickle) Kitzke. He was the third of four siblings.

Growing up on the family farm south of Almena, KS, John loved cowboying and spending time with his family. In 1967, he graduated from Almena High School and went on to attend Beloit Tech for carpentry. John worked at Norton Livestock, Oberlin, Alma, and many other livestock sales, as well as cowboying for farmers and feedlots.

John's first horse, Cassy, accompanied him to several horse shows, where the duo won numerous ribbons. He and his family attended a horse show in Almena where they were awarded 26 out of 50 ribbons. His last horse, Molly, held a special place in his heart, and he is now reunited with both Cassy and Molly.

John is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Louise Kitzke, his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. EC Pickle and Mr. and Mrs. August Kitzke, aunts, uncles, and a nephew Thomas Verle Kitzke. 

He is survived by his son Troy of Alma, NE, daughter Janelle Borg of Holdrege, NE, brother Thomas Kitzke and wife Judy of Prairie View, KS, and many nieces and nephews.

Floyd Glenn Mann, age 71, died at his home in Park, Kansas on November 12, 2023.&nbsp; He was born on January 13, 1952 in WaKeeney, Kansas, the son of Matthew and Jeanne (Moore) Mann.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Floyd attended and graduated from Quinter High School and then attended and graduated from Colby Junior College in Colby, KS. 

He met and married Michelle (Teff) Mann, and to this union four children were born – Chad, John, Mathew, and Patti. They later divorced.

Also known lovingly as Pete or Papa Pete, he never knew a stranger, always found an adventure, and lived life exactly the way he wanted to. He had a love for his dogs and truly enjoyed their companionship. A smile, a good joke, a puzzle, or a competitive card game were always a given.

Floyd Glenn Mann

Tyler Warren Winn, Hill City, Kansas, was tragically taken from his loving family November 9, 2023, in rural Sheridan County, Kansas. He was born May 6, 1993, to Allen and Debra (Smith) Winn in San Angelo, Texas. He was one of five siblings and the only son. 

Although Tyler moved to Kansas in 2016, he was a true Texan. “You can take the Texan out of Texas, but you can’t take Texas out of the Texan.”

Tyler graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 2011 where he was active in the Mariachi band playing the Guitarron. 

He loved working with his hands and even competed in the Texas Skills USA building trades competition. 

Tyler had many hobbies including: playing the guitar, putting puzzles together, video gaming, holding a black belt in Karate, and upcycling junk parts into artwork. He was very intrigued by wiring systems and was attending Arizona State University working toward his electrical engineering degree. His true passion, though, was cars and trucks. This love began with the purchase of his 1979 Z28 Camaro when he was 16.

Right out of high school Tyler followed in his father’s footsteps and began working in the Texas oilfields. His true calling became clear to him after landing a job as a lube tech in the Chevy House. It wasn’t long before he was a GM-certified technician. 

After moving to Kansas, Tyler met the love of his life, Stephanie Wands. Following a few twists and turns, which included their firstborn, Ryder in 2019, Tyler began working as a diesel technician and opened his own automotive shop, LoneStar Auto. When they found out they were expecting a second son, Raysson, in 2021, the decision was made to move closer to their family in Hill City, Kansas. Tyler began working as a John Deere technician for BTI in Hoxie, Kansas. Life had one more blessing for them in 2022 when Daddy’s Princess, RhyAnne, was born. On October 15, 2022, Tyler and Stephanie finally tied the knot.

Tyler was only a member of the Hill City Community for 2 ½ years, but his impact will be felt for years to come. He was vice president of the Graham County Auto and Art Museum where he organized and pulled off the biggest car show the community had ever hosted. He showed northwest Kansas how a burnout contest was meant to be done and was already planning the second annual car show. 

A toy drive in Hill City has been established to honor his legacy as this was something Tyler and Stephanie were organizing. 

Tyler was a member of the Hoxie Hotrodders Lions Club and was very active in the Salina, Kansas car scene. He was the guy other car guys called when they couldn’t figure out something. He was always quick with advice and willing to teach others. Tyler was never idle. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and to reach the goals he constantly set for himself.

Tyler is survived by his loving wife Stephanie Winn and his children, Ryder, Raysson, and RhyAnne of Hill City, Kansas; his father Allen Winn and his sisters Jaime Maldanado, Haley Winn, Allison (Joe) Martin, and Holly Winn of Texas; and his grandmother, Sue Smith of Michigan. He is also survived by his grandmother-in-law Sandra Veh; his mother and father-in-law Jami (Lonnie) Sprinkle and Todd (Leslie) Wands; his brothers-in-law River (Craig) Ledet, Riley (Zoey) Wands, Tate (Skylar) Wands, and Jaran (Jordyn) Clark, along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were like family. 

Tyler was preceded in death by his mother, Debra Winn, his paternal grandparents, his maternal grandfather, and his grandfather-in-law John Veh.

 </figure>May 6, 1993 - November 9, 2023Tyler Warren Winn, Hill City, Kansas, was tragically taken from his loving family November 9, 2023, in rural Sheridan County, Kansas. He was born May 6, 1993, to Allen and Debra (Smith) Winn in San Angelo, Texas. He was one of five siblings and the only son. Although Tyler moved to Kansas in 2016, he was a true Texan. “You can take the Texan out of Texas, but you can’t take Texas out of the Texan.”Tyler graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 2011 where he was active in the Mariachi band playing the Guitarron. He loved working with his hands and even competed in the Texas Skills USA building trades competition. Tyler had many hobbies including: playing the guitar, putting puzzles together, video gaming, holding a black belt in Karate, and upcycling junk parts into artwork. He was very intrigued by wiring systems and was attending Arizona State University working toward his electrical engineering degree. His true passion, though, was cars and trucks. This love began with the purchase of his 1979 Z28 Camaro when he was 16.Right out of high school Tyler followed in his father’s footsteps and began working in the Texas oilfields. His true calling became clear to him after landing a job as a lube tech in the Chevy House. It wasn’t long before he was a GM-certified technician. After moving to Kansas, Tyler met the love of his life, Stephanie Wands. Following a few twists and turns, which included their firstborn, Ryder in 2019, Tyler began working as a diesel technician and opened his own automotive shop, LoneStar Auto. When they found out they were expecting a second son, Raysson, in 2021, the decision was made to move closer to their family in Hill City, Kansas. Tyler began working as a John Deere technician for BTI in Hoxie, Kansas. Life had one more blessing for them in 2022 when Daddy’s Princess, RhyAnne, was born. On October 15, 2022, Tyler and Stephanie finally tied the knot.Tyler was only a member of the Hill City Community for 2 ½ years, but his impact will be felt for years to come. He was vice president of the Graham County Auto and Art Museum where he organized and pulled off the biggest car show the community had ever hosted. He showed northwest Kansas how a burnout contest was meant to be done and was already planning the second annual car show. A toy drive in Hill City has been established to honor his legacy as this was something Tyler and Stephanie were organizing. Tyler was a member of the Hoxie Hotrodders Lions Club and was very active in the Salina, Kansas car scene. He was the guy other car guys called when they couldn’t figure out something. He was always quick with advice and willing to teach others. Tyler was never idle. Everyone is invited to the dinner following the service, allowing all to socialize and share stories and memories.
