Carolyn Gilson, 66, of Colby, died Monday, March 18, 2024, at home. She was born September 8th, 1957 in Washington D.C, to Arnold and Sue (Condon) Davis.

She graduated from Fremont High School in Sunnyvale, CA in 1975. She then attended Chico State University in Chico, CA. On November 30, 1985 Carolyn and Gary were united in marriage, and to this union one child was born: Brady. She attended Community College of Denver, in Denver, CO for nursing school and spent most of her LPN career working for Kaiser. Carolyn enjoyed making pottery, crafting, traveling, spoiling her two grandsons, and being with friends and family.

She is survived by her son Brady (Jessica) Gilson of Colby; parents, Arnold and Sue Davis, of Tempe, AZ; siblings Karen (Nancy) Davis, Craig (Melanie) Davis, and Ken Davis; two grandchildren, Colton and Clay Gilson; one nephew, Nic Valverde and many friends and extended family.

Carolyn chose cremation, a small service will be held at a later date with location to be determined. Robert Jay Michael “Robbie” Corcoran, 73, died March 21, 2024 at his home in Great Bend, Kansas. The son of Robert and Betty (Detter) Corcoran was born June 12, 1950, in Hoisington, Kansas. He attended schools in Hoisington, Kansas. Robert married Janet Cotten and to that union were born two sons, Patrick, and Aaron. They later divorced. He then married Connie Judd Michaelis Corcoran on August 26, 2000. &nbsp;

He is survived by his wife, Connie; his sons, Aaron Corcoran of Great Bend, and Patrick (Trish) Corcoran of Valley Center; bonus-daughter, Kimberly Specht of Salina; bonus-son, Kevin Michaelis of Russell; sister, Cathy (Jim) Morris of Hoisington. He leaves grandchildren, Tyler (Christine) Corcoran of Tempe, Arizona, Abby and Dylan Corcoran of Valley Center, Patrick Gillen of Wichita, Remy Corcoran of Great Bend, Austin (Victoria) Michaelis, Madison (Hunter) Dean and Brooklyn Michaelis all of Topeka, Tyler Specht of Overland Park, Jacob Specht of Hays; and a great grandson, Waylen Dean of Topeka; He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Ronald “Randy” Corcoran.

Robbie worked in the oil fields as a young adult and later for Boger Brothers Oil, Inc., in sales. &nbsp;He was co-owner of Oz Creations, Inc. After closing Oz Creations, he went to work for the Lyon County Department of Aging and AR Transportation, retiring in 2015. &nbsp;After retiring, Robbie enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing, and boating with his family.

Cremation has taken place. Family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial service will be 11:30 a.m., Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, with Chaplain Jeff Johnson presiding.

Mary Jo Larson, 74, passed away on March 18, 2024 in Oberlin, KS. She was born on October 26, 1949 to Thomas and Donna (McClary) Eskew in McCook, NE.

Jo went to elementary school and middle school in Olathe, CO. The family then moved back to Oberlin where she attended Decatur Community High School. She loved to travel and met many people and saw many places before settling back in Oberlin. Jo married Wayne E. Larson on March 15, 1985 in Oberlin, KS.

Jo was an active member of the Oberlin EMS for 30 years, which she was very proud of. She also worked in the healthcare field as a CNA and later as a housekeeper. She explored many other employment opportunities from road construction, grocery and convenience store clerk, pizza maker, and bartender. She always had to be busy. Before her health declined she loved to spend time at the lake, read, play the lottery, crossword puzzles, shopping, but most of all spending time with her family.

Jo is survived by her husband of 39 years, Wayne E. Ruth Whittington, age 89, of Elkhart, Kansas, died March 17, 2024, at Stanton County Hospital in Johnson. She was born August 11, 1934, in Shamrock, Texas, the daughter of Reverend A. E. and Meda W. (Hall) Whittington.

After graduating from Johnson High School, Ruth lived the majority of her life in California. She was very involved in her church activities and often played the piano for services. She had a love for music, serving people, and God most of all. She was the owner / operator of Armstrong Trucking, worked in the hospital laboratory in Johnson and Elkhart, Kansas, Springfield, Colorado, and Sherman, Texas, and was also a Radiologic Technician.

Ruth is survived by her son, Jerry Slates of Fort Jones, California; daughter, Cheryl Morisse and husband, Lindsey, of Basehor, Kansas; sisters, Vivian Fisher and husband, Neil, of Johnson, and Glenda McVey and husband, Larry, of Forgan, Oklahoma; three grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren on the way; and many other family members and friends.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Reverend A.E. and Meda Whittington; brothers, Erman Glenn Whittington and Enid Whittington; and one grandson, Levi Morisse.

Rachel E. Applegate, age 92, died Monday, March 18, 2024, at Hospice House in Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born March 11, 1932, in Garden City, Kansas, the daughter of Lee M. and Dolores (Rodriguez) King.

Rachel grew up in Ulysses. After graduating from high school, she attended college. Rachel married Edwin A. Applegate on November 18, 1961. They raised their family in Ulysses. Her family was her number one. She worked at the Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital and the Dr. Marshall Brewer Clinic. She also worked at the Grant County Library and was a nanny for the Pinnick family. Rachel was an active member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church and loved her job at the Grant County Health Department. It gave her great joy to work with young mothers and their babies.

Rachel is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Chandley of Hutchinson; son, Steven C. King and wife, Ginger, of Newton; sister, Rosalie King of Hutchinson; brother, Johnny Lee King of Ulysses; brother-in-law, Dan Rios of Ulysses; grandchildren, Tracey Lytle and husband, Mike, Shannon Hendricks and husband, Tim, Christopher King and wife Lynae and Carrie Claassen and husband Lance; great-grandchildren, Henry Claassen, Ava Claassen, Andrew Morales, Cassie Porter, Michael and Aubree Hendricks and Seth Hendricks; great-great-grandchildren, Victoria King, Chloe King, Landon McClintock, Dawson Hendricks and Anneliese Hendricks.

Greg grew up in Ulysses and graduated from Ulysses High School. He then attended Lineman School in Manhattan. Greg worked for Lane-Scott Electric in Dighton, Pioneer Electric in Ulysses, and held lineman positions in various towns in Florida, Arizona, and Louisiana. After moving back to Ulysses, he owned and operated the Double Deuce Bar. He enjoyed working on and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and the companionship of his dog, Goober.

Greg is survived by his son, Shannon Maughlin and wife, Charley, of Dighton; sister, Debbie Long and husband, Marty, of Ulysses; sister-in-law, Carmen Long of New Braunfels, Texas; and two grandchildren, Brianna and Chevy Maughlin.Greg is preceded in death by his parents, Sy and Lois Hileman; and brother, Larry Hileman.

Delores Nadine Betz, age 79 of Norman, Oklahoma, passed away on February 15, 2024. She was born March 16, 1944 in Dodge City, Kansas to George Swatzell and Susie (Pelton) Swatzell. Delores graduated from Ness City High School in 1962.

On February 16, 1963 she married Gary Merle Betz. They had two children, April and Aaron and three grandchildren, Skyler, Austin and Kel.

Delores did many things in her life including working at the bank, running a skating rink, working for the Shopper’s Weekly and later becoming an elementary substitute teacher for the Hooker, Oklahoma Public Schools. She loved knitting, painting, crocheting and many other arts and crafts. She also enjoyed going fishing.

She is survived by her son, Aaron Betz and wife Tammie of Palmetto, Florida; daughter, April Lujan and husband Jesse of Norman, Oklahoma; grandsons, Skyler Betz of Palmetto, Florida; Austin Ray of Norman, Oklahoma and Kel Coker and wife Avri of Edmond, Oklahoma. Sisters Patty Keller of Canon City, Colorado; Shirley Schuler and husband Jerry of Ness City, Kansas; brother Victor Swatzell and wife Linda of Phillipsburg, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gary, daughters Melody Dawn and Claresa Marie; father George Swatzell; mother Susie Curtis and step-father Frank Curtis.&nbsp;

Delores graduated from Ness City High School in 1962.On February 16, 1963 she married Gary Merle Betz. They had two children, April and Aaron and three grandchildren, Skyler, Austin and Kel.Delores did many things in her life including working at the bank, running a skating rink, working for the Shopper’s Weekly and later becoming an elementary substitute teacher for the Hooker, Oklahoma Public Schools. She loved knitting, painting, crocheting and many other arts and crafts. Jerry was born on July 13, 1945, in Wichita, KS, the son of Glen Francis and Fleta Ann (Kline) Everett.&nbsp; Jerry was a United States Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on August 15, 1967.&nbsp; On February 23, 1974, Jerry married Judy M. Montey and together they were blessed with two children, Richard, and Lori.

He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister Laura Everett.

Jerry is survived by his wife Judy M. Jerry Lee Everett

Jack Jay Kersenbrock, age 88, passed away on March 18, 2024, at Citizen’s Medical Center in Colby, Kansas. He was born on the family farm on February 25, 1936, to Herman “Babe” and Olive (Metzler) Kersenbrock. He grew up on the farm, first attending country school and graduating from Colby High School. He attended Kansas State University for one year and then was drafted into the Army. While stationed at Fort Devon in Massachusetts he met Jane Emily Swayer, who would become his wife. He was stationed in the Philippines for a year and worked as a Teletype Interpreter. He also resumed his studies at the University of the Philippines. When he returned stateside, he married Jane on June 17, 1956. They celebrated 58 years of marriage before her death in June 2014. To this union they welcomed four children, Keith, Dwayne, Luann, and Kris.

Jack finished his bachelor’s degree at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina. He attended and graduated with his Master of Divinity from St. Paul School of Divinity in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended and received his Doctor of Theology from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma. His life’s work was serving the Lord as a pastor of many churches in central and western Kansas for 60 plus years. He was a tremendous influence and is fondly remembered by many of his former parishioners.

Jack enjoyed playing cards (especially Pinocle), Yahtzee, and Cribbage. He loved visiting his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren wherever they were located. He was always willing to “do the cooking” when he would visit by paying for the meal. He was generous, kind, compassionate, and loving to everyone he met.

He was preceded in death by his parents Herman “Babe” and Olive; his wife Jane; his oldest son Keith, and infant grandson Jazz. He is survived by his children, Dwayne (Renae) of rural Hoxie, Luann Horchem (Gary) of rural Ransom, Kris Schulte (Mark) of rural Sedgwick, and Keith’s widow, Nancy Kersenbrock of Wichita. He had ten grandchildren, Kyle Kersenbrock (Treasure) of Colby, Katie Watts (Nathan) of Conway, Arkansas, Angela Horchem (Matt McKenzie) of Tucson, Arizona, Jerod Horchem (Megan) of Ransom, Jennifer Costello (Micheal) of Wichita, David Schulte of Hays, Alex Schulte of Manhattan, Benjamin Schulte of rural Sedgwick, Erik Kersenbrock, and Ashlee Kersenbrock, and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at the United Methodist Church in Colby, Kansas on April 5, 2024, at 1:00 pm with Pastor Deb Harvey officiating. Arlene White age 95 passed away on March 19, 2024, at the Parkview Care Center in Osborne, KS.

Arlene and Victor White (Whitey) were married January 16, 1946. Victor preceded her in death on November 13, 1985. She was also preceded in death by a son Victor R White (Whitey) Jr., her parents, stepmother, 3 brothers, 2 sisters and a great granddaughter.

Survivors include her sons Gary (Connie), Jerry (Peggy), Ed (Vicki) and daughter Connie (Ron) Lynn, 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren,4 great great grandsons, sister-in-law Kathy Davis, 2 half-brothers and 4 half-sisters.

Our dear mother, Bonnie Vogel, sadly passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024, at the age of 92. She was a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her. She also had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community.

Bonnie was born on July 18, 1931, in Agra, Kansas, to Curtis and Mabel (Munyon) Smith. Bonnie graduated from Agra High School. Bonnie married Arnold Vogel in Stuttgart, Kansas on February 26, 1950. To this union, seven children were born. Arnold and Bonnie lived and raised their children on the Vogel Family Farm. They celebrated 56 years of marriage before Arnold’s passing on June 3, 2006.

As her children got older, Mom decided she wanted a career. She attended Colby Community College and graduated at the top of her class as an LPN. She worked as a nurse at the Phillips County Hospital, Medical Clinic, and Retirement Center. Mom had a passion for caring for others. Mom’s patients loved her and especially loved hearing stories about her children. She left a lasting impression on all the patients she cared for during her time as a nurse. Bonnie worked for many years before retiring at the age of 78.

Not only did she work as a nurse, but she was a homemaker to her husband and 7 children. She was an excellent cook, seamstress, and gardener. She loved her flowers as well as her books, as she was an avid reader. Bonnie also had a deep love for all the pets she cared for throughout her life. Bonnie loved all of her children and cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She attended as many of her family’s events as possible.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Vogel, parents Curtis and Mabel Smith, daughter Julie Elliot, brother Ross Smith, great grandsons Trenton Horn, and Bennett Wolf, and son-in-law Dennis Jordan.

Bonnie Lee Vogel

Dennis Deon Donovan, 78, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024 at his residence.

Dennis was born April 20, 1945 in Kansas City, Missouri.&nbsp; He was the son of Carl and LeNora (Shara) Donovan.&nbsp; He grew up on a farm near Lewis, Kansas.&nbsp; He was a 1963 graduate of Lewis High School.&nbsp; He also was an Eagle Scout.&nbsp; He then attended Ft. Hays State University.

Dennis served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1967.&nbsp; He served his tour of duty in the Vietnam War.&nbsp; After his tour he retired to Kansas.&nbsp; Later in life, he attended and graduated from the Wichita Area Technical College with a degree in HVAC.

Dennis was united in marriage to Sherry Fisher in 1971.&nbsp; This union was blessed with three children; Kyle, Kasey and Kayla.&nbsp; They made their home in Kinsley, Kansas.&nbsp; They divorced later in 1993.

Dennis was a proud Truckdriver hauling cattle, or in his words a ‘Bovine Relocation Specialist.’&nbsp; His CB handle was ‘Fat Albert.’ Prior to this he worked at Big A Auto Parts for many years and then as a Parts Manager for the Ford Garage in Kinsley &amp; Bucklin.&nbsp; He also worked as a Farmer/Rancher.&nbsp; After retirement, his ‘jobs’ were helping with a friendly smile at COOP, A &amp; W, Stoppel Supply and the Playdium Bowl, all of Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; He was a lifemember of the Kinsley V.F.W. Post# 7349 and later transferred to Russell V.F.W. Post #6240.&nbsp; He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s events, attending the COOP early morning coffee group, bowling, watching squirrels, and collecting humorous T-shirts.&nbsp; Dennis was known for his slow cruising through town whether it was in his pickup or his ranger, always greeting everyone with a smile and his silly antics and a joke or two if you were lucky. Some good.. Some bad! Although he loved them all!

Dennis’ surviving family include his daughter, Kayla Donovan (Dakota) of Kinsley, Kansas; sons, Kyle Donovan (Mandi Blundon) of Russell, Kansas and Kasey Donovan (Laurie) of LaCrosse, Kansas; brothers, Gary Drawbridge (Anita) of Mooreland, Oklahoma and William Wright of Woodlawn, Oklahoma; sisters, Dandy (Norman) Tramba of Edmond, Oklahoma, Dee Burns of Bonner Springs, Kansas and Ann Morris of Malcolm, Missouri; and six grandchildren; Austin, Harlee, Myiah, Kiana, Taelynn and Zade.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law, Kellie Donovan. Hays State University.Dennis served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1967.&nbsp; He served his tour of duty in the Vietnam War.&nbsp; After his tour he retired to Kansas.&nbsp; Later in life, he attended and graduated from the Wichita Area Technical College with a degree in HVAC.Dennis was united in marriage to Sherry Fisher in 1971.&nbsp; This union was blessed with three children; Kyle, Kasey and Kayla.&nbsp; They made their home in Kinsley, Kansas.&nbsp; They divorced later in 1993.Dennis was a proud Truckdriver hauling cattle, or in his words a ‘Bovine Relocation Specialist.’&nbsp; His CB handle was ‘Fat Albert.’ Prior to this he worked at Big A Auto Parts for many years and then as a Parts Manager for the Ford Garage in Kinsley &amp; Bucklin.&nbsp; He also worked as a Farmer/Rancher.&nbsp; After retirement, his ‘jobs’ were helping with a friendly smile at COOP, A &amp; W, Stoppel Supply and the Playdium Bowl, all of Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; He was a lifemember of the Kinsley V.F.W. Post# 7349 and later transferred to Russell V.F.W. Post #6240.&nbsp; He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s events, attending the COOP early morning coffee group, bowling, watching squirrels, and collecting humorous T-shirts.&nbsp; Dennis was known for his slow cruising through town whether it was in his pickup or his ranger, always greeting everyone with a smile and his silly antics and a joke or two if you were lucky. Some good.. Some bad! Although he loved them all!Dennis’ surviving family include his daughter, Kayla Donovan (Dakota) of Kinsley, Kansas; sons, Kyle Donovan (Mandi Blundon) of Russell, Kansas and Kasey Donovan (Laurie) of LaCrosse, Kansas; brothers, Gary Drawbridge (Anita) of Mooreland, Oklahoma and William Wright of Woodlawn, Oklahoma; sisters, Dandy (Norman) Tramba of Edmond, Oklahoma, Dee Burns of Bonner Springs, Kansas and Ann Morris of Malcolm, Missouri; and six grandchildren; Austin, Harlee, Myiah, Kiana, Taelynn and Zade.Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law, Kellie Donovan. Jack Marston passed away on March 14, 2024 at the Homestead of Russell in Russell Kansas at the age of 94.

Jack was born on January 25, 1930 in Plainville Kansas and was the youngest of four children born to Charles and Anna Marston. He graduated in 1948 from Plainville High School and married his high school sweetheart Doris (Louise) Brotemarkle not long afterward.

As was the case with all children born in 1930 his childhood was marked with the wind and dust that became the trademark of those years. His family was not spared the difficulties and scarcities that were common to all families of the Great Plains.

&nbsp;He was eleven years old when WW11 broke out and because the young men and women went off to war that left the old men, women, girls and boys to “fight on the home front”. Jack’s first job was at Walker Air Base in the earliest days of the war. He and his friends were given charge over the pop supply on the base and to insure that the pop was given to the soldiers and not stolen. Their payment was all the pop the young boys could drink.

Once the War ended he worked at a Service Station in Plainville and after graduation he started his life as a butcher. He worked at Safeway in Hays Kansas, other grocery stores in Ellis Kansas, and Great Bend Kansas at a time before they used electric meat saws and all meat was cut by hand. He, Louise and their young daughter Patricia (Pattie) then moved to Russell Kansas where he worked for Klemas IGA. For a number of years he also delivered bread for the Rainbow Bread Company on Sundays.

In total Jack was a butcher for 61 years and he and Louise were married for 66. He had a reserved sense of humor, loved to fish, hunt, and loved to work with wood.&nbsp;

He is preceded in death by his wife Louise Marston, his parents Charles and Anna Marston, his brothers Fred and Delmar, and his great granddaughter Catalina Shea.

He is survived by his daughter Patricia and Son-In-law Roy Rein, his son’s David Marston (Susan) their children and grandchildren, and his son Mark Marston (Beth) and their daughters and his sister Doris Casey.&nbsp; A grave side service will be held on April 2nd&nbsp;at 1:00pm at the Russell Cemetery in Russell Kansas. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell Kansas will be directing the service and Pastor Mike Ketchens will be officiating.

Fidel Delgadillo, 49, passed away March 19, 2024, at his home in Great Bend, Kansas. He was born on March 23, 1974, in Durango, Mexico, to Jose Fransico and Maria Rosalia (Acosta) Delgadillo.&nbsp;

A resident of Great Bend since 1992 coming from Mexico, he worked as a general contractor in the construction industry. Fidel was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish and enjoyed listening to music while enjoying beverages.

Survivors include three sons, Mario Delgadillo of Denver, Colorado, Jared Hickeling, and Alex Delgadillo of Albert; two daughters, Adriana and Sandra Delgadillo, both of Great Bend; two grandchildren, Hazley and Samuel; his parents; two brothers, Roberto and Miguel Delgadillo, both of Great Bend; four sisters, Maria Mayela Delgadillo of Mexico, Maricela Delgadillo of Great Bend, Rocio and Edelmira Delgadillo, both of Chicago, Illinois; ex-wife, Samantha Naab; and many other loved ones.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Gerardo Delgadillo.

Visitation will take place from noon to 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2024, with vigil at 7:00 p.m., at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Father Prakash Kola presiding. Wilma Priska Weickart was born on June 21, 1928 to Bruno and Lena Weikart in Karlsruhe, Baden, Germany. &nbsp; She passed away on February 16, 2024 at the age of 95.

She met her future husband, Leroy Fixsen while he was stationed in the Army in Germany during WWII. &nbsp; They were married on October 15, 1948 in Karlsruhe, Germany. &nbsp;They moved to Goodland, KS, where she resided until 1996.

One of Wilma’s proudest moments was when she became a naturalized citizen of the United States in November of 1951. &nbsp;Wilma and Leroy had 4 children, Pam, Randall, Lori and Jackie.

Wilma and Leroy owned and operated Fixsen TV and Appliance opening in 1958. &nbsp;In 1979, after Leroy passed away, Wilma, Randall and Debra continued with the business until Wilma’s retirement in 1996. &nbsp;Randall and Debra purchased the business from Wilma and continued the business until their retirement in 2015. &nbsp;After her retirement, Wilma moved to Longmont, Colorado where her daughters lived. &nbsp;In 2019, she moved to Loveland, CO.

Wilma loved history, loved to travel and enjoyed sharing her experiences of living in Germany during WWII. &nbsp;&nbsp;

She was predeceased by her husband Leroy, grandson Clayton Fixsen, her parents and 12 siblings.

She is survived by her 4 children, Pam Brown, Randall (Debra) Fixsen, Lori (Bill) Burbridge and Jackie Albright, her sister Vera, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Wilma will be buried alongside her husband Leroy in the Goodland Cemetery at a later date during a private family ceremony.

Larned – Jim A. Mitchell, 71, passed away March 17, 2024 at his home in Larned.

He was born January 29, 1953 in Scott City, the son of John F. and Agnes Schmaltz Mitchell.

As a child, Jim grew up in the farming communities of western Kansas. He was a Project Manager for Sprint in the Kansas City area where he lived for twenty years before moving to Pawnee County in 2014. &nbsp;Jim was an integral member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, serving many different roles including, School of Religion, Adult Education and starting Kapaun’s Men group. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus, a previous member and past president of CMBA. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, being a bus driver, and especially spending time with his grandkids.

On August 15, 1975 he married Mary E. Finger at Larned; she survives.

Other survivors include: daughter, Stacey (Bob) Rein, Larned; two sons, Ryan (Becka) Mitchell, Rozel, Jeff (Heather) Mitchell, Fargo, North Dakota; three sisters, Donna Thatcher, Wichita, Debbie Allen, Wichita, Sandy (Tom) Holub, Pilsen; nine grandchildren, Lexi, Dalton, Jameson, Alaina, Kole, Gillian, Audrey, Tyson, and Kason.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Tracy Kottmeyer.

Funeral mass will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned with Father Anselm Eke, MSP and Father Warren Stecklein presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2024 with family present from 4-6 p.m. at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with a vigil and rosary at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Larned Cemetery.

Gary D. Kitch, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the Rice County Hospital in Lyons, Kansas. &nbsp;He was born on July 26, 1937, in Scott City, Kansas, the son of Charles &amp; Merle Hull Kitch. &nbsp;A lifetime resident of Scott City, Kansas until 2022 moving to Sterling, Kansas, he was the owner and operator of Kitch Packing Company for 34 years in Scott City, Kansas.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Scott City, Kansas, and was a past city council member.

Gary grew up in Scott City, KS&nbsp;&nbsp;where he graduated from Scott Community High School in 1955.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was an avid sports fan. He played many different sports in school and followed sports his entire life.&nbsp;&nbsp;If you wanted to know the score of any ballgame, all you had to do was ask. He was a quiet man but had a quick sense of humor and a very ornery side. His hobbies included leatherwork, making silver jewelry, and photography. &nbsp;&nbsp;He loved spending time with his family and really enjoyed his grandchildren. &nbsp;

Survivors include his One Daughter - Traci &amp; Lynn Taylor of Sterling, Kansas, One Son - Tad Kitch &amp; Tami Bloedorn of Dighton, Kansas, Two Sister - Georgia &amp; Bob Plum of Dodge City, Kansas, Peggy Kitch of Castle Rock, Colorado, Four Grandchildren, and Ten Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, One Brother, One Infant Daughter, and a Great Grandson.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2024, at the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas with Adam Taylor presiding.

Gary D. Kitch

Phillips County resident, LeRoy Lee Keim, passed away March 19, 2024 at the Logan Manor in Logan, KS at the age of 88. He was born Sept. 22, 1935 in Talmage, KS, the son of Harold &amp; Florence (Munyon) Keim.

Survivors include his wife Joyce of Logan; daughters: Michelle Fortt of Aurora, CO; Melinda Younkin of Norton &amp; Kelli Hueneke of Phillipsburg; a step son, Tim Brown of Delphos; step daughters: Dee Dee Singular of Linn, Sandy Lucas of Macksville &amp; Cindy Bretz of Denver; his brothers, Joe of McMinnville, OR &amp; John of Prescott, AZ, 20 grandchildren &amp; 33 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 23 at 10:30 a.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with Pastor JD Washington officiating. The service will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page. Burial will follow in the Agra Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon to 9:00 Thursday &amp; 9:00 to 9:00 Friday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Services.

Lawrence D. Tholen, 94, “Grandpa” of Grinnell, died Monday, March 18, 2024. Lawrence was born May 9, 1929, to Theodore and Margaret (Berens) Tholen. He married Agnes Schumacher on October 27, 1953. Lawrence was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish, Grinnell, served in the Korean War as a medic; and was a member of the V.F. W. Post 2864, Grinnell. He was an avid supporter of local youth, and coached baseball and softball for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Agnes, a son Rick Tholen, six brothers and seven sisters.

He is survived by four children, Greg (Stacy) Tholen, of Grinnell, Rhonda Rudell, Manhattan, Tina (Eddie) Parks, Stockton and Steve Tholen, Grinnell; grandchildren, Mindy (Eric) Hilt, Tyler Tholen, Tanner (Leslie) Tholen, Trisha (Tracy) Hageman, Tenille (Tuker) Gillespie, Jenna (Danny) Grater, Trevor (Rene) Parks, Tinley (Tyler) Hahn and Kelly (Lee) Fellhoelter; 17 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.

Lawrence D. Tholen

Etta Arlene (Duff) Holloway was the first child born to Clayborn and Stella Mae (Crochett) Duff on April 4, 1935 in Salina, Kansas. Clay and Stella Mae then moved to Hoxie, Kansas, to be near relatives where Arlene started attending elementary school. During her 5th grade school year, her family moved to Codell, Kansas, located just south of Woodston, Kansas, Arlene loved school and was known as the "teacher's helper" and could recall names of the many students she tutored there. During her senior year of High school, the family made a final move to Alton, Kansas. While attending Alton High School she met Bob Holloway who grew up on a farm west of Alton. After graduating from high school, Bob and Arlene were married on January 30, 1955 and made their home in a small rustic house along the Solomon River just west of Alton. Bob and Arlene moved to Paradise, Kansas, for a short time before settling on a farm near Woodston, Kansas, where they started their family.

Their 4 boys, Kevin, Dean, Terry, and Danny, all grew up on the farm and have fond memories of living, working, and harvesting together. She enjoyed the farm, her garden, and the chickens that kept her boys busy feeding, cleaning, and gathering the eggs. Hard work was part of her nature and she lived and taught us hard work on the farm. Arlene loved and cared for her family, but also took time to care for others in need. She would cook meals and serve others while also teaching her cooking skills to kids in 4-H, who claimed many blue ribbons at the Rooks County Free Fair. Her smile was hard to forget, especially when she was with her boys, grandkids, and great grandkids. She always wanted to spend as much time with family as she could and would stay up VERY late with them playing games and telling stories. After her boys were grown, Bob and Arlene moved to Lindsborg, Kansas, for a short time before moving to Oakley, Kansas, just south of her childhood home near Hoxie. They made one more final move to Lindsborg to be with friends and closer to family. In Lindsborg, Arlene continued her visits to those in need of food, help, or just a friend. She also looked forward to family gatherings and cherished holidays when the family was all together.

Arlene will be remembered for her Christian faith in God and her love for Jesus. She shared her love for the Bible by teaching children in Sunday School and would share what Christ had done in her life with anyone who was interested. Her deep faith shown as she lived, worked, and cared for others. Her daily Bible readings would often be recited in conversations throughout the day. The Bible was her guidebook for life. Even if she forgot a favorite recipe, she always could remember her favorite scriptures and would share them with others.

Arlene is survived by her husband Bob of 69 years, her younger brother Cloyd Duff of Wichita Kansas; her sons: Kevin (Vicki) Holloway of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Terry (Kim) Holloway of Ness City, Kansas, and Dan (Diana) Holloway of Topeka, Kansas. Her grandchildren: Beth (Timothy) Johnson, Nolan (Samantha) Holloway, Kale (Nikki) Holloway, Hope (Chad) Bauman, Justin (Emily) Holloway, Melissa Holloway, Abby

Holloway, Anna Holloway, Ally (Grayson) Trueblood, Adriel Holloway, Amy Holloway, Caleb Holloway, and her great grandchildren: Aven, Eloise, Ean, Adler, Cora, Abba, Kaley, Cambree, Hattie, IlsaBelle, and Judge.

Arlene was preceded in death by her parents Clay and Stella Mae Duff, son Dean Holloway, and younger brother Jay Duff.

Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Sunday, March 17 at Crick-Christian Funeral Home 103 N. Washington St. Lindsborg KS.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Monday, March 18 at Lindsborg Evangelical Covenant Church, 102 S. Washington St., Lindsborg.

Burial will be 3:00 pm at Woodston Cemetery, Woodston KS.

Etta Arlene (Duff) Holloway

John William Luetters, 80, died March 16, 2024, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS. He was born August 30, 1943, in Ransom, KS, to Francis Edgar Luetters and Josephine (Hilmes) Luetters.

John was a 1962 graduate of Ransom High School. He served in the United States Army from January 1964 through January 1966. John was a machinist at Eaton Corporation, retiring with over 40 years of service. John was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Hutchinson, KS, St. Teresa Catholic Church Men’s Club, and the Knights of Columbus.

He enjoyed rebuilding motors, sitting on his porch watching the neighborhood children and animals, and working Bingo at the St. Teresa Catholic Church Men’s Club. He loved his family and friends and treasured being a husband, father, grandfather, godfather, brother, and friend.

On September 14, 1968, he married Willa Sue Rider, in Ransom, KS. They shared over 55 years of marriage.

John is survived by: his wife, Willa ‘Susie’ Luetters of Hutchinson, KS; sons, Kevin (Trudy) Luetters of Newton, IA, and Terry Luetters of Shawnee, KS; granddaughter, Alexis Luetters of Jefferson, IA; four goddaughters; brothers, Gene (Claudia) Luetters of Salina, KS, and Jerome (Marilyn) Luetters of Highlands Ranch, CO; sisters, Rozanne Veeder of Dodge City, KS, Janice (Wayne) Houdeshell of Dodge City, KS, Carolyn (Jake) Maska of Hays, KS, and Linda (Dennis) Hess of Great Bend, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Vernon Luetters, Tom Luetters, and Louis Luetters; brother-in-law, Merton Veeder; and sister-in-law, Judy (Meis) Luetters.

Parish Rosary will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2024, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Both services will be at St. Teresa Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th, Hutchinson, KS, with Father Jerome Spexarth officiating. John William Luetters

Victoria Ann “Vicki” Larson- age 77, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024, in Glendale Arizona. She was born December 11, 1946, in Kansas City to Clyde and Dorothy Yowell. She married Richard “Dick” Wellbrock and they later separated.

Vicki grew up in Palco, Kansas and was a 1964 graduate of Palco High School. She worked at the U S Department of Defense for a few years then she attended a Business School in Denver, Colorado. She worked in the Medical Administration for over 40 years in Hays and Scott City, Kansas and the last number of years in Phoenix, Arizona.

She was a member of the Trinity Cathedral Church in Phoenix, and always had a passion for helping and serving others. Her pride and joy were her grandkids.

Vicki is survived by her son, Rich Wellbrock and wife, Kristi, Phoenix, AZ; her brother, J. Paul Yowell and wife, Joan, Dallas, TX; her sister, Claudia Schroer and husband, Joe, Philadelphia, PA; her grandchildren, Griffin and Madeline Wellbrock.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
