<a href="https://www.ryanmortuary.com/obituary/Myredith-Buss"></a>Myredith E. Buss, 83, of Salina, Kansas, was born on 
Thursday, November 17, 1938, and passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022,&nbsp; with her family at her side.&nbsp; A Thursday child; generous and loving 
throughout her life. 
As a child of the Great Depression, Myredith's early life was not easy. 
She worked in the orchard and garden, fished with her brothers in a 
nearby river, and froze her fingers raising ducks to help support her 
family. But she walked away from her childhood with a strong faith, a 
loving and supportive family, compassion for those less fortunate, a 
sharp-witted sense of humor, and a belief that determination and hard 
work would bring a brighter future. 
She was married twice, first to Ronald C. Tonne with whom she had four 
children.&nbsp; They lived in Norton, Kansas, where she worked as the Clerk 
of the District Court.&nbsp; She moved to Salina, Kansas in 1978 and later 
married Kenneth. E. Buss, creating a loving family that would last until
 his death in 2019.&nbsp; Ken made her laugh, loved her endlessly, and broke 
her heart with his passing. They were both devoted grandparents, 
attending all of life's events with great joy! 
Myredith gave love through acts of kindness: sharing recipes, teaching 
us to cook and bake. Fruits and vegetables were treasures, especially if
 they were free and picked by hand – they found their way into jellies 
and jams, salads and jello desserts to be relished each year on our 
holiday tables. 
She always had a project in the works! She gifted us all treasured 
holiday decorations, hand-crocheted pillowcases, and beautiful quilts, 
and she lovingly mended the stuffed animals of her grandchildren – a 
labor of love that continued even with arthritic hands and failing 
eyesight. 
Myredith found beauty in everyday things: watching her flowers grow, the
 smell of baking cinnamon rolls, the croaking of frogs, and the chatter 
and giggles of children at play.&nbsp; She enjoyed the fellowship of Mentor 
Methodist Church and spoke of time spent with friends from the choir, 
countless pancake breakfasts with friends and grandkids, and the comfort
 she found in this supportive community. &nbsp; 
With broken hearts and appreciation for the beautiful life she stitched 
together and shared with us are two of her siblings, Henry Elder and 
Annie Nelson, three of her children, Arden Tonne, Ronda Blatt, and Byron
 Tonne, her stepchildren Melinda Sevedge and Steve Buss, daughters and 
sons by marriage, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many friends. 
We will miss her but know that she will be welcomed to eternity with 
heavenly hugs from her husband Kenneth Earl of 37 years, her cherished 
son Terry Allen Tonne who sadly left us way too soon, and many others 
who shared her life. 
A service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, November 26th,&nbsp; at 11:00 a.m. at the Mentor Methodist Church, 616 E. Mentor Rd., Assaria, 
Kansas 67416.&nbsp;

Myredith E. Buss

David F.L. Graner, age 53, passed away on October 7, 2022, at Hamburg, New York.

David was born on February 28, 1969, at Montgomery, Alabama, the son of Father James and Anne LoBianco Graner.

David graduated from Larned High School in 1987, attended Kansas 
State University for two years, then enlisting in the U.S. Army, later 
at the rank of Corporal. David called himself an “Army brat” since his 
father, and 3 uncles served in the army as well.

After his army service, David attended culinary school at Baltimore 
Culinary College, completing the 2-year course. He and a friend opened a
 restaurant in Outer Banks, North Carolina before being offered a 
position at a prestigious golf club in Southampton, Long Island, New 
York, where he worked for 8 years.&nbsp; From there, David then worked his 
way up through different chef assignments to a Sous Chef position, first
 on Fishers Island, and finally, completing his career at the Wanaka 
Country Club in Buffalo, New York.

David was of the Christian faith and belonged to Saints Mary and 
Martha of Bethany Episcopal Church in Larned, Kansas. His hobbies were 
many. David was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and enjoyed the 
game of golf. &nbsp;

David is survived by his mother, Anne Graner, of Larned. He was 
preceded in death by his father, Fr. James Graner. &nbsp;Other survivors are 
his many cousins, Elise, South Carolina, Barbara, New York, Joselle, 
Denver, Blanche, St. Louis, Roberta, Connecticut, Gail, Independence, 
Lee, Florida, Loretta, Cincinnati, and Dennis, Kevin, Edward, Paul, and 
Frank, Florida, and of course, his many friends. He was very loved and 
will be greatly missed.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service with Military Honors 
will be held on Friday, November 18, at 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Mary and 
Martha of Bethany Episcopal Church, Larned with Bishop Mark Cowell 
presiding. &nbsp;Visitation will be from 9 am to 8 pm on Thursday, November 
17, with family present from 6-8 pm. at Beckwith Mortuary.

Glenn Mitchell, 65, died Saturday, November 5, 2022, at St. Catherine 
Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born January 1, 1957, in 
Borger, Texas the son of Rayburn &amp; Bettie (Blanton) Mitchell. 
 Glenn began his working career in construction. He married Jenece 
Hanson on May 20, 1998, in Garden City, Kansas, two years to the day 
after their first date. After they were married, Glenn went to work at 
the Hanson Ranch near Russell Springs, Kansas, where he like all the new
 skills that he was learning. When his health started to fail, he moved
 back to Garden City where he has lived since. 
 Glenn loved the outdoors. He loved going to various zoo’s, no 
matter how big or small. He enjoyed going to amusement parks where he 
could spend the entire day. He also loved traveling to his two favorite
 vacation spots, Santa Fe, New Mexico or anywhere in Colorado. He also 
enjoyed going to antique shops, and he especially loved his two puppies 
Starlet and Sunshine. 
 Survivors include his wife Jenece Mitchell of the home; his 
siblings Elaine (Paul) Webb, Kathy Widowski, Dyphene (Rusty) Daniels, 
Carla (Daniel) Williamson, Ray Mitchell, Kevin Mitchell, &amp; Jimmy 
(Donna) Mitchell; a sister-in-law Carla Jo (Mike) Pebbles; a 
brother-in-law Mark (Jill) Hanson; and many nieces, nephews, and great 
nephews. Glenn is preceded in death by his parents; a sister Jenny 
Ryan; and a brother-in-law David Brakhage. 
 Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 
12, 2022, at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Russell Springs, Kansas

Glenn Mitchell

Alan C. Hagerman, 70, Larned, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, November 
8, 2022, at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned, Kansas.

Alan was born on October 4, 1952, in Larned, Kansas. He was the son 
of Elmer and Hilda (Hemken) Hagerman. He was a lifelong resident of 
Pawnee County, Kansas.

A 1970 graduate of Pawnee Heights High School, Rozel, Kansas, he 
graduated from Kansas State University in 1974. Described as a big guy 
with a big heart, he made lifelong friends as a member of the Beta Sigma
 Psi fraternity at K-State where he majored in Ag Economics. Better than
 the friends he made, he met the love of his life and on August 16, 
1974, he married Sindra Davis in Red Oak, Iowa. She survives.

Al was a farmer/rancher and he shared his love of farming, hunting, 
and outdoors with his wife and twin boys. He lived on the family 
farmstead near Rozel, Kansas, until his retirement. He and Sindy moved 
into Larned, Kansas, in November of 2017.

Al spent his retirement from farming being the unofficial parts 
fetcher or the midday taxi service. He always had a knack for stopping 
by to check on how harvest was going just as the evening meal showed up 
at the field. He loved driving out and checking his cattle on pasture.

Family and friends meant everything to Al. He enjoyed watching his 
grandkids play sports, at their shooting competitions, and dance 
recitals. He was always telling stories and accomplishments of his sons 
and their families. He and Sindy would often be found proudly cheering 
in the stands, reading in the bleachers at grandparent’s day at school, 
or losing an intense game of go-fish. He hardly knew a stranger, and was
 never in too big of a hurry to stop for a conversation.

He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Rush Center, Kansas. Al 
was active in his community. He served on the Mid-State Coop board as 
well as the Pawnee Heights School Board. He served as secretary for the 
church council. Al spent 25 years as a coordinator and instructor for 
the Pawnee County Shooting Sports program. He also spent time as an 
instructor of Hunter’s Safety courses in Rozel, Kansas.

Other survivors include his sons Brian, Larned, Kansas, and Kent, 
Timken, Kansas; 5 grandchildren Kale, Kole, Mason, Gabe, and Maddy; two 
sisters, Carol (Larry) Bartlett and Becky (Steve) Wondra; and 8 nieces 
and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an older brother, Robert.

Memorial service will be Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. 
at Hope Lutheran Church, Rush Center, Kansas, with family present 
starting at 10:00 A.M.

Church visitation will be Saturday, November 12, 2022, from 10:00 
A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Hope Lutheran Church, Rush Center, Kansas. A private family inurnment will be at a later date in Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Rush Center, Kansas.

Richard Bernard Samson, 83, of Ludell, KS, died Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at his home in Ludell Township, Rawlins County, KS. 
Richard was born July 10, 1939, in Union Township, to Adrian F. and 
Tressie B. (Flood) Samson. Richard’s life began on his aunt’s farm, East
 of Atwood. The family moved to the farm East of Ludell, in 1941, when 
he was two. Richard spent the remainder of his life on the farm he loved
 so dearly. 
Richard graduated from Atwood High School with the class of 1957. He was
 a farmer, rancher, and Archer oil salesman. Richard married Bernadine 
L. Hale on August 7, 1968. After her passing, Richard married Bonnie S. 
Jeffries on January 26, 2013. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Bernadine, in 2010; 
his wife, Bonnie, in 2021; sister Frances Carpenter, in 2011, and 
nephews, James D. Cogburn II, in 2010, and Adrian Carpenter, in 2022. 
Richard is survived by his son, Jamie Samson (Sara Bishop); daughters, 
Barbara Steiner (Les) and Beverly Evans (Mark Ramser); sister, Shirley 
Cogburn (James); grandchildren; great grandchildren; five nieces; great 
nieces, great nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. 
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 10:30 
a.m., Friday, November 11, 2022, at Baalmann Mortuary, Atwood, with 
Pastor Dan Carson officiating. Interment is at Rose Hill Cemetery,

L. Hale on August 7, 1968. After her passing, Richard married Bonnie S. 
Jeffries on January 26, 2013. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Bernadine, in 2010; 
his wife, Bonnie, in 2021; sister Frances Carpenter, in 2011, and 
nephews, James D. Cogburn II, in 2010, and Adrian Carpenter, in 2022. 
Richard is survived by his son, Jamie Samson (Sara Bishop); daughters, 
Barbara Steiner (Les) and Beverly Evans (Mark Ramser); sister, Shirley 
Cogburn (James); grandchildren; great grandchildren; five nieces; great 
nieces, great nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. 
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 10:30 
a.m., Friday, November 11, 2022, at Baalmann Mortuary, Atwood, with 
Pastor Dan Carson officiating. Interment is at Rose Hill Cemetery, 
Ludell, KS. Memorials may be given to the McCook Humane Society and sent

Richard Bernard Samson

W.N. “Bill” Bryant, 97, died on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at Lane 
County Hospital in Dighton. He was born on January 30, 1925, in Lane 
County the Son of M.G. (Marion General) and Hazel Virginia (Newman) 
Bryant. 
Bill graduated from Dighton High School in 1943 and entered the United 
States Army to fight World War II. He was very proud of his service in 
the 160th Army Combat Engineers under General Patton. His company 
landed at Normandy and he received the Purple Heart after being shot in 
the Battle of the Bulge at Luxemburg, Germany. He found himself 
following in almost the same footsteps that his father traveled in World
 War I in Germany and France. After his discharge he returned to the 
family farm and was a lifelong farmer in Lane County. He was a member 
of the United Methodist Church of Dighton. 
He is survived by his Sister- Virginia “Ginger” Bryant Rankin, Nephew- 
Bryant (LuAnn) Schultz, 2 Nieces- Gini (Bill) Driskill and Heather 
Colleen (David) Underwood, Great-Nephews- Caleb Schultz, Marion Schultz,
 Joe Schultz, Aaron Schultz, Kevin Schultz &amp; Kasha Driskill, 
Great-Nieces- Margo Schultz Elder, Michelle Schultz Fullmer &amp; Damian

Janice Anne Quance, 79, died on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Lane County
 Hospital in Dighton. She was born on December 5, 1942, at Dallas, Texas,&nbsp; the daughter of George Henry &amp; Eunice (Martin) Barber. She married
 Chet Quance on August 31, 1963, at Duncanville, Texas. 
Janice graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas and went to 
work for the First National Bank in Dallas. After her marriage the 
couple lived in Houston, Denver and Dighton where she worked at First 
National Bank until 1969. They moved to Pueblo, Colorado, where she 
worked in a bank and was a travel agent. They moved to Denver where she
 worked at Westminster Bank and also started working as a model for 
Powers Model Company. She later continued her modeling career while 
working at Cherry Creek National Bank. They moved to Parker Highlands 
and she became the office manager for the family Photography Studios. 
In 1994 they moved back to Dighton. She was a member of Bible 
Fellowship Church in Dighton where she was very active in the church 
activities including teaching bible classes. She enjoyed sewing, her 
cats and dogs, yardwork and anything nature. 
She is survived by her Husband- Chet Quance and 2 Sisters- Virginia 
Morrison of Plano, Texas and Dorothy Moore of Wichita Falls, Texas. 
Funeral Service will be at 10:30 AM Monday at Bible Fellowship Church in
 Dighton with Rev Darrin Hammond officiating. Burial will be in Dighton
 Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at 
Boomhower Funeral Home in Dighton.

Rodney Eugene Smith, 67, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, 
November 6, 2022. He was born on September 9, 1955, in Smith Center, 
Kansas, to Harley and Cleora (Bliss) Smith. Rodney grew up in 
Osborne, KS he was on the wrestling team and in band. Rodney enjoyed the
 small town life running around with his twin brother Roger and little 
brother Rick and working at the town grocery store. The three of them 
spent countless hours in the summers at the Osborne City pool. He 
graduated from Osborne High School in 1973. His mother and father were 
very proud of him, and he was thankful for the loving home and life he 
had growing up. He always knew he wanted to be a Pharmacist and 
attended the University of Kansas Pharmacy School graduating in 1978. 
His first job as a pharmacist was at Dillon’s Pharmacy in Lawrence on 
Massachusetts street. Work took him to many towns in Kansas as a 
Pharmacist. In 1981 he was working at the Dillons Pharmacy in Salina, KS
 when he met his soon to be wife, Roxanne, at a Dillon’s picnic. She 
worked at another Dillons in Salina, where he came in to ask Roxanne out
 for the first time for a ride on his motorcycle. The two were 
married in 1982 in Salina at the Grand Avenue United Methodist Church. 
They welcomed their first son, Christopher in 1984 in Lawrence, KS. In 
1988, they welcomed their daughter, Abby in Lawrence, KS. They made 
Lawrence their home and Rodney opened the Medicine Shoppe on 
Massachusetts Street. Life took them to Hutchinson, KS in 1991 
where Rodney owned the Medicine Shoppe on Main Street. They raised their
 children in Hutchinson until Abby graduated high school in 2007, when 
they made their way back to Lawrence where both Chris and Abby attended 
his alma mater Kansas University, which made Rodney so proud. Chris went
 on to get his PhD in Chemistry from University of Minnesota and is the 
head of a lab in the Kansas City area. Abby went on to become a Dental 
Hygienist and has furthered her career in Dental software technology. Rodney
 touched many lives and filled many scripts over the years, and had 
heart warming stories about the many people that touched his life in 
pharmacy. Rodney worked up until the day he passed as a remote pharmacy 
consultant for a non profit, Family Healthcare Center in Kansas City, 
KS. His passion became helping the underserved and he was able to give 
back by helping to start 340B Pharmacies for the uninsured. Rodney
 was an avid golfer up until he got pancreatic cancer. He has fond 
memories golfing with his father Harley, son Chris, brother Roger and 
nephews Jared, Ryan and Andrew and his lifelong Salina golf buddies. 
Rodney had 2 impressive hole in one’s throughout his golfing career. Rodney
 was a diehard Kansas Jayhawk fan, loved all things basketball and 
football at KU. He loved his Chiefs, and grew a love for the Oklahoma 
State Cowboys after his daughter Abby married her husband Derek that ran
 cross country and track there. Rodney was so proud of Chris’s wife Linh, becoming a pharmacist in his footsteps at KU. Rodney followed his dad Harley’s footsteps to become a Mason and was a Master Mason of the Masonic temple in Hutchinson, KS. Rodney
 was a jokester, could never remember the entire joke when he repeated 
it, which made his family and friends laugh even harder, he was often 
the brunt of jokes and that’s the way he liked it! Rodney was the
 grandpa that got down on the ground with his grandkids and would sit 
and play with them for hours. One of Abby and Chris’s fondest memories 
as children was Rodney telling them his own version of jack and the 
beanstalk as a bedtime story. It always ended in laughter and tears the 
way he told it. Rodney could not wait to be with his mother, Cleora in heaven. He talked about her every day. Rodney
 is survived by his father, Harley Smith of Osborne, KS; loving wife, 
Roxanne Smith, children, Chris (Linh &amp; Aiden) Smith; Abby (Derek, 
Lucy &amp; Drew) Tate, all of Olathe, KS. Brother, Roger (Neta, Amanda, 
Jared, Mark, Graham, Elia, Molly) Smith of Topeka, KS; Brother, Rick 
(Dee, Ryan, Holly, Andrew, Nomi, Tanner, Sammy, Heidi, Presley, Violet,

Ron Rome

Sister Donna Gottschalk, CSA, formerly Sister Philip, died peacefully November 2, 2022, at St. Francis Home, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Donna Marie was born in La Crosse, Kansas, on May 6, 1940.&nbsp; She was the first daughter after eight sons born to Philip Gottschalk and Lidwina Werth Gottschalk. Following Donna, three more boys and two girls made the family of fourteen complete.

Donna spent her childhood keeping up with her brothers, doing farm and household chores, and learning very fast how to play baseball and football with the best. When Donna was six, the family moved to Hays, Kansas, to fulfill her parents’ desire for their children to have a Catholic education.&nbsp; In grade school and high school, Donna was taught by the Sisters of St. Agnes.&nbsp; From early on, she wanted to be just like the sisters. After high school, Donna, still undecided about pursuing her desire to be a sister, attended the College of Mount St. Scholastica in Atchison, Kansas, taught by the Sisters of St. Benedict. In 1959, after her first year of college, Donna made the decision to enter St. Agnes Convent. Even though she missed the wheat fields of Kansas and the life she shared with her family, her call to religious life beckoned her to Wisconsin and CSA.&nbsp; She made her first profession of vows as Sister Philip in the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes on August 15, 1962, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.&nbsp; Sister Donna earned a BS in Elementary Education from Marian College, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, in 1964. Sister taught primary grades in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Kansas for 31 years. She loved teaching and working with children, and they loved her and filled her heart with many happy memories.&nbsp; During her years as an educator, she enriched her teaching and religious education skills with several courses and seminars at Ft. Hays State University, Hays, Kansas and at Silver Lake College, Manitowoc, Wisconsin.&nbsp; In 1993, Sister Donna retired from teaching. After a year of sabbatical in Rock Haven, Missouri, in 1994, she engaged in a variety of ministries including serving on the parish team of Sacred Heart Parish in Colby, Kansas, and cooking for the residents at St. John’s New Horizons Assisted Living, Hays, Kansas. In 1998, Sister Donna returned to Fond du Lac as an assistant to the Local Coordinators for the CSA retirement community at Nazareth Court and Center. She spent countless hours providing for the needs of the sisters, shopping for them, driving, baking, preparing special meals and filling the sisters’ days with her caring and attentive presence and support. In 2018, a serious illness caused Sister Donna to resign her position. Unable to serve the sisters as before, she herself became a resident at Nazareth Court and Center and later at St. Francis Home where she received loving care until the time of her death. Throughout her life, Sister Donna cherished her life in CSA and her Kansas roots.  </figure>Sister Donna Gottschalk, CSA, formerly Sister Philip, died peacefully November 2, 2022, at St. Francis Home, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. Donna Marie was born in La Crosse, Kansas, on May 6, 1940.&nbsp; She was the first daughter after eight sons born to Philip Gottschalk and Lidwina Werth Gottschalk. Following Donna, three more boys and two girls made the family of fourteen complete. Donna spent her childhood keeping up with her brothers, doing farm and household chores, and learning very fast how to play baseball and football with the best. When Donna was six, the family moved to Hays, Kansas, to fulfill her parents’ desire for their children to have a Catholic education.&nbsp; In grade school and high school, Donna was taught by the Sisters of St. Agnes.&nbsp; From early on, she wanted to be just like the sisters. After high school, Donna, still undecided about pursuing her desire to be a sister, attended the College of Mount St. Scholastica in Atchison, Kansas, taught by the Sisters of St. Benedict. In 1959, after her first year of college, Donna made the decision to enter St. Agnes Convent. Even though she missed the wheat fields of Kansas and the life she shared with her family, her call to religious life beckoned her to Wisconsin and CSA.&nbsp; She made her first profession of vows as Sister Philip in the Congregation of Sisters of St. Agnes on August 15, 1962, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.&nbsp; Sister Donna earned a BS in Elementary Education from Marian College, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, in 1964. Sister taught primary grades in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Kansas for 31 years. She loved teaching and working with children, and they loved her and filled her heart with many happy memories.&nbsp; During her years as an educator, she enriched her teaching and religious education skills with several courses and seminars at Ft. Hays State University, Hays, Kansas and at Silver Lake College, Manitowoc, Wisconsin.&nbsp; In 1993, Sister Donna retired from teaching. After a year of sabbatical in Rock Haven, Missouri, in 1994, she engaged in a variety of ministries including serving on the parish team of Sacred Heart Parish in Colby, Kansas, and cooking for the residents at St. John’s New Horizons Assisted Living, Hays, Kansas. In 1998, Sister Donna returned to Fond du Lac as an assistant to the Local Coordinators for the CSA retirement community at Nazareth Court and Center. She spent countless hours providing for the needs of the sisters, shopping for them, driving, baking, preparing special meals and filling the sisters’ days with her caring and attentive presence and support. In 2018, a serious illness caused Sister Donna to resign her position. Unable to serve the sisters as before, she herself became a resident at Nazareth Court and Center and later at St. Francis Home where she received loving care until the time of her death. Throughout her life, Sister Donna cherished her life in CSA and her Kansas roots. Sister Donna Gottschalk

Civilla (Sandlin) Robinson, 92, the second child of Grog Phillip and 
Pearl Ellen (Chamberlain) Sandlin, was born February 16, 1930, in 
LaValle, Missouri. Civilla passed away Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 
Graham County Hospital in Hill City, Kansas.

Civilla grew up on a 
small family farm outside of Lilbourn, Missouri. When her parents 
brought her home, her older sister said, “That’s my sissy baby.” The 
nickname stuck. Sissy was a 1948 graduate of Lilbourn High School.  On 
June 4, 1949,&nbsp; Civilla was united in marriage to her high school 
sweetheart  Simon Peter Robinson Jr.  To this union, four children were 
born: Michael Glenn, Sherry Lynn, Richard Dale, and Peter Eugene. Their 
family moved to Granby, Colorado, in December of 1957 and S.P. and Sissy 
took over the operation of a Mobil Service Station and bulk plant. They 
later purchased the service station, which they operated for over 40 
years, first as a Mobil Service Station and later as a Phillips 66 
Service Station, better known as Pete’s 66.  Sissy moved to Bogue in 
2007 and lived there until moving into Dawson Place earlier this year.

The
 Robinson home revolved around running that service station, seven days a
 week for many years. Their home was on a large lot directly behind 
their business so trips back and forth from home to work were made 
frequently throughout the day. Sissy was the person who kept the service
 station clean, lent a hand as needed and kept the books for their 
family business.

Sissy loved to cook.  In the summer there were 
barbecues and hand cranked homemade ice cream.  Homemade cookies and 
candy were a staple at Christmas. Sissy was very proud of the flower 
gardens she grew which featured perennials and lots of annual flowers 
including her favorite, red petunias. Sissy also enjoyed fishing with 
her family.  She would take a picnic lunch and say, “The fish might not 
bite but we sure will.”

In her later years she loved bird watching
 and spotting her favorite bird, the red cardinal. Her boys remember 
that their mom was always offering coffee and food to friends and family
 that came over to visit and that no one ever left their home hungry. 
Sissy loved being “Grannie” and cared deeply for her 11 grandchildren. 
She never hesitated to offer to take care of them whenever the need 
arose. and would do anything to help them out whenever she could.

Sissy
 was preceded in death by her parents, husband S.P Robinson Jr., son 
Michael Glenn and daughter Sherry Lynn; sisters: Erekia Sandlin, 
Priscilla Scherer, Wanda Kell, and brother Groggy Sandlin.

Those 
left to mourn Sissy are her sons: Richard and wife Deb Robinson of Hill 
City, Peter Robinson of Granby, Colorado; sister: Cendra Moss of Denham 
Springs, Louisiana; brother-in-law: Bill Kell of Springfield, Missouri; 
11 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren, three great-great 
grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Earnest Edward "Ernie" Knipp, 75, passed away Saturday, November 5th, 2022. He was born December 1st, 1946, to Victor and Catherine (Brungardt) Knipp in Hays, Kansas. 

Ernie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother &amp; friend. Ernie was a proud Army Vietnam veteran. He was retired maintenance technician for Derby Schools &amp; previously served in Salina Schools, he was known around Derby for his old yellow chevy truck. Ernie was a member of The American Legion and Knights of Columbus. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother in law, Marvin Kriley. 

Ernie is survived by his Wife of 48 years, Belinda (Benjamin) Knipp; Daughters: Sandra (Craig) Lafon, Teresa (Jason) Cole both of Derby; son: Philip Knipp of Wichita; grandchildren: Ethan, Aila, Emily &amp; Addison; siblings: Ellie Kriley, Shirley Leochner, Gerald Knipp, Verlin Knipp, Ron Knipp &amp; Sheryl Curry; numerous nieces, nephews other relatives &amp; friends.

Diona “Dion” L. Bose, 67 of Salina, passed away Wednesday. October 
19, 2022.&nbsp; She was born March 5, 1955, in Phillipsburg, Kansas.

Dion’s passion was “to be the voice for kids.”

Dion was preceded in death by her beloved children; Linda L. Urbanek,
 2006, and Scott D. Smith, 2014, and her brother; Duane Bose, and her 
father Floyd Bose, 2021.

Survivors include mother, Bernetta J. Bose and a sister; Vicki 
Mersman both of Garnett, and four grandchildren, Mikal, Jessalyn,

 Sharon Springs High School in 1940, she attended Kansas Wesleyan 
University, Salina, and then Hutchinson Community College, Hutchinson, 
where she completed a 60-hour teaching course.&nbsp; Winnie then taught at 
Antioch County Grade School, Abbyville, and Eastern Star School, Pretty 
Prairie.&nbsp;

She married Wilbur "Bill" Ellis Hendershot, in Hutchinson in 1944, 
and from that union was born Sharon Jean and Larry Roland.&nbsp; Together 
they farmed south of Hutchinson for many years.&nbsp; Winnie was a member of 
the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, Darlow Study and Social 
Club, and Lincoln EHU.&nbsp; She enjoyed researching family genealogy, 
collecting antiques, and spending time with Bill on many wonderful 
camping trips with the Good Sam’s Club.

Winnie was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Wilbur "Bill";
 son, Larry Roland; and three brothers, Robert, Richard, and John.

Sara Suzanne "Suzy" Ehrlich Seed, of Salina, died Nov. 4, 2022. She was 59.

Suzy was born Nov. 2, 1963, in Longmont, Colo., to Arthur "Lyle" 
Ehrlich and Helen "Lorece" Branch Ehrlich. She grew up in Russell and 
graduated from Russell High School.

On July 16, 1983, she married Joel Seed in Russell. A few years later, they moved to Salina, where they raised their family.

Suzy enjoyed crafting and had a gift for turning random items into 
art. She liked spending time with her family and tending to her pet 
chickens.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her three 
children: Shannon Shuler (Chris), Seth Seed (Tara), and Stetson Seed 
(Andrea Jackson). Other survivors include her six grandchildren: Jaylah 
Buchanan of Texas, Dakota and Raelyn Shuler of Salina, Jaxsen and Jexa 
Seed and their mother Madison Cox of Abilene, Savannah Bailey and Sami 
Jo Seed, Salina. She's also survived by her siblings Pam, Teresa and 
John, and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Suzy often opened her home to friends and family and treated young 
people as if they were her own children. Those survivors include Jonah 
Wolf, Jason Shanley, James Wheeler, and her nieces Angela and Jessica 
Pozalek.

A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 10, at 1 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. 8th St., Salina.

Ronald Blaine Gabel, 64, passed away on November 7, 2022, at the Ness 
County Hospital in Ness City, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on June 30, 1958, in 
Ness City, Kansas, the son of Milton and Rita (Bessel) Gabel.

Ron was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Ness City. He was an oil
 hand having worked for several oil companies over the years.&nbsp; Ronnie 
managed the Arnold Grain Elevator for Right Co-op and he worked for KDOT 
for five years before retiring.&nbsp; He married Marcia Gullion on November 
3rd, 1984, in Ness City, Kansas. Ronnie was an avid Chiefs fan and loved
 sports, hunting, and following his grandchildren in their endeavors.&nbsp;

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Marcia Gabel; two sons, Blaine Gabel 
and his wife, Kim, of Hays, Ben Gabel and his wife, Tatum of Goodland; 
daughter, Veronica Jeffery and her husband, Brady, of Scott City; three 
brothers, Gary Gabel (Rhonda), Kansas City, Kelly Gabel (Monica), Hays, 
and Tim Gabel, Ness City; two sisters, Debbie Overrocker, Garden City 
and Sharon Castor (Norm), Ness City; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Donnie and Terry Gabel and two sisters, Theresa Gabel and Brenda Zeller.

Funeral service will be on Friday, November 11, 2022, 10:00 a.m., at 
the Sacred Heart Church, Ness City&nbsp; Burial in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
 The Wake will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a Rosary followed by the Vigil at
 Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ness City. The family requests that friends 
remember Ronnie by dressing in something that reminds them of Ronnie, 
whether it be Chiefs, KU, or hunting clothing.

Letha Karleen Wishon, age 89, passed away
 on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at the Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott 
City, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on July 28, 1933, in Tribune, Kansas, the 
daughter of Charles Hugo and Mary Elizabeth Swilley Thon.&nbsp; A resident of
 Scott City, Kansas, since 1996 moving from Stillwell, Oklahoma, she was a
 retired Med Tech &amp; Nurse Aide at Park Lane Nursing Home and a Home 
Health Nurse.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Scott City, Kansas.&nbsp; 
Letha enjoyed music, playing the piano, singing in the church choir, 
teaching Sunday school and cooking and cleaning at the church.

In 1948, she married Bobby Lloyd Wishon in Lamar, Colorado.&nbsp; He passed away August 1, 2015, in Dodge City, Kansas.

Survivors include her Three Daughters - Wanda &amp; Rod Barton of 
Scott City, Kansas, Janet &amp; Gary Goodman of Scott City, Kansas, 
Shelley &amp; Scott Shockley of Galena, Kansas, Seven Son - Steve &amp;

Bennie was born on December 10, 1926, in Athol, KS, the son of Edward G. and Neva M. (Beach) Smith.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;On March 4, 1962, he married Lois L. Matteson in Phillipsburg, KS.&nbsp;&nbsp;Bennie was a U. S. Army WWII Veteran serving from May 26, 1945, to October 9, 1946, when he was honorably discharged.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lois on November 5, 2005, brother, Arthur Smith and a sister, Ilene (Wagenblast) Voorhees.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Bennie is survived by his two children, Stacey Smith of Concordia and Kevin (Charlene) Smith of Athol; a sister-in-law, Betty Smith of Smith Center; two grandchildren, Derek (Staci) Foreman and Dakota (Latham) Foreman and three&nbsp;great grandchildren Tate and Mack Foreman and Eitte Foreman. &nbsp;&nbsp;

She was born April 20, 1955, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, to Wayne Thomas and Arlene (Braun) Zimmerman. &nbsp;She married Joseph G. Geist Jr. and they later separated.

Deborah was a CNA at&nbsp;the&nbsp;Hadley Hospital in Hays, worked at Wayne’s Auto Glass, and&nbsp;was&nbsp;a homemaker. &nbsp;She grew up in Hays, and was a 1973 graduate of Hays High School. &nbsp;She was always available&nbsp;as&nbsp;the family babysitter. &nbsp;She enjoyed playing cards, playing bingo, going to the lake, fishing, and working the Lion’s Cubs demo derbies. &nbsp;

Survivors include her children, Chad Geist, Hays, KS; Wayne Geist, Hays, KS; Dawn Geist, Hays,&nbsp;KS; her former husband, Joseph G. Deborah A. Geist

Dr. Steven Ray “Steve” Mosier, DVM, 79,
 Hays, entered Heaven on September 11, 2022, surrounded at the time of 
his passing by family and skilled, caring HaysMed staff.&nbsp; This date fell
 on National Pet Memorial Day.

Steve was born on December 14, 1942, in
 Hoxie, the 10th child of Decker and Lela (Mowry) Mosier, arriving five 
minutes before his twin brother, Stanley Jay.&nbsp; Henceforth and ever known
 as “the twins” by Lela, Decker, and his siblings, they were promptly 
placed in a shoe box to be kept warm in the farmstead oven.&nbsp; Their 
antics would become the stuff of legend throughout their childhood and 
adult years, from a fire lit playing with matches under the bed to 
pretending to be the other brother.

Steve went to Saint Paul school in 
rural Hoxie for six years and then into town for 7th and 8th grade.&nbsp; He 
graduated from Sheridan Community High School in 1960.&nbsp; He placed third 
in state wrestling his junior year and second his senior year, holding 
the flame of Hoxie’s notable wrestling history at a time when Hoxie 
competed with all of Kansas.&nbsp; This talent would serve him later in life,
 as his daughters Karen, Kristen, Karla and Kayleen unanimously recall 
being pinned simultaneously, each under an arm or leg and with no hope 
of escape, during spontaneous family floor wrestling.&nbsp; His 
grandchildren, Ethan, Decker, Isaac, Ben, and Hannah were also met with 
his famous full and half nelsons.&nbsp;

Steve went on to Kansas State 
University and, like four brothers before him, attended the School of 
Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1966.&nbsp; On June 5, 1965, he married 
Linda Louise Ward in Manhattan.&nbsp; Following graduation, Steve and Linda 
moved to Wichita to begin veterinary practice and then on to Aurora, 
Nebraska.&nbsp; From 1967-1969, Steve served in the US Army Veterinary Corps 
and was stationed in St. James, Minnesota.&nbsp; He was responsible for 
inspection of food going to overseas military and was a Survivor’s 
Assistance Officer, personally notifying 16 families regarding their 
fallen loved ones.&nbsp; He also assisted these families in planning funeral 
services.&nbsp; Following his military service there, Steve and Linda 
returned to Wichita in 1969, and then went on to join Hays Veterinary 
Hospital, hired by Dr. &nbsp;Paul McRae, DVM in 1970, choosing Hays because 
it was in-between Linda’s parents in Manhattan and Steve’s in Hoxie.&nbsp; 
Steve became full practice owner in 1995.&nbsp; His practice was purchased by
 Dr. Mark Meier in 2020.&nbsp; Steve thought that Dr. Meier, raised in Hays, 
was the perfect owner for the clinic.

Steve spent 50 of his 57 years in the 
practice of veterinary medicine in Hays.&nbsp; He felt very privileged to be a
 part of the human-animal bond. During his time as a practicing 
veterinarian, he was president of the Kansas Veterinary Medical 
Association in 1992 and received recognition as Kansas Veterinarian of 
the Year in 2000.&nbsp; In 2005, the Mosier family received the Alumni 
Recognition Award from the Kansas State University College of Veterinary
 Medicine.&nbsp; His favorite recognition was the Kansas Veterinary Medical 
Association Lifetime Achievement Award (2016) because it was presented 
to him by friend and colleague, Dr. John Nelson.

Steve’s daughters were all a part of 
his practice in some way while growing up, and his grandchildren 
continued this tradition.&nbsp; Whether riding along on a country call where 
Steve managed to grab a daughter and a diaper while enroute to pull a 
calf or waiting patiently at the grocery store or in the car while Steve
 visited with a client about their livestock or beloved pet, Steve made 
room for his family in his practice, and many memories surround 
experiences there.&nbsp; In the surgery suite, his daughters could be found 
observing the precision of a surgeon, and his ability to suture as 
though conducting a symphony.&nbsp;&nbsp; There were after hours cesarean 
sections, calf deliveries, x-rays and broken bones.&nbsp; The girls were 
happy to assist on night calls, as were his grandchildren.&nbsp; For 
twenty-five years, Kayleen served alongside Steve as his practice 
manager.&nbsp;&nbsp; He accomplished his service through the love and support of 
his wife, Linda, as well.

Steve enjoyed traveling with his 
family, with favorite destinations being to beaches and to the mountains
 of Estes Park.&nbsp; He also held very fond memories of a family trip to 
Scotland in 1999.

Survivors include his wife Linda of 
Hays, four daughters: Karen Nicholson and husband Blake, Kristen Hill 
and husband Christian, Karla DuBois and husband Justin, all of Estes 
Park, CO, and Kayleen Geist and husband Garrett of Hays, three brothers:
 Frank Mosier and wife Joan of Manhattan, Dr. Richard Mosier and wife 
Mary of Claremore, OK, and Dr. Larry Mosier of Sargent, NE, a sister: 
Louise Simcox of Salina, three sisters-in-law: Betty Mosier of 
Manhattan, Bunny Mosier of Cedar Rapids, NE, and Kathy Mosier of 
Wichita, five grandchildren: Blake “Decker”, Ben, and Hannah Nicholson, 
Ethan and Isaac Hill, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his 
parents, an infant son: Darren Ward Mosier, five brothers: Ben, Dr. 
Jacob, Dr. Ross, Dr. Don, and Dr. Stan Mosier, a sister: Lila Marie 
Fansher and husband Stan, a brother-in-law: Flavel Simcox, two 
sisters-in-law: Joann and Margaret Mosier, and a nephew: Craig Mosier.

Family Inurnment with military honors 
conducted by the Fort Riley Funeral Detail will be on Sunday, September 
18, 2022, in the Hoxie Cemetery followed by a gathering at the family 
farm, Sheephead Ranch.&nbsp; A community Celebration of Steve’s Life will be 
held at 5:00 pm on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at the Hilton Garden Inn,
 Hays.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

 </figure>Dr. Steven Ray “Steve” Mosier, DVM, 79,
 Hays, entered Heaven on September 11, 2022, surrounded at the time of 
his passing by family and skilled, caring HaysMed staff.&nbsp; This date fell
 on National Pet Memorial Day.Steve was born on December 14, 1942, in
 Hoxie, the 10th child of Decker and Lela (Mowry) Mosier, arriving five 
minutes before his twin brother, Stanley Jay.&nbsp; Henceforth and ever known
 as “the twins” by Lela, Decker, and his siblings, they were promptly 
placed in a shoe box to be kept warm in the farmstead oven.&nbsp; Their 
antics would become the stuff of legend throughout their childhood and 
adult years, from a fire lit playing with matches under the bed to 
pretending to be the other brother.Steve went to Saint Paul school in 
rural Hoxie for six years and then into town for 7th and 8th grade.&nbsp; He 
graduated from Sheridan Community High School in 1960.&nbsp; He placed third 
in state wrestling his junior year and second his senior year, holding 
the flame of Hoxie’s notable wrestling history at a time when Hoxie 
competed with all of Kansas.&nbsp; This talent would serve him later in life,
 as his daughters Karen, Kristen, Karla and Kayleen unanimously recall 
being pinned simultaneously, each under an arm or leg and with no hope 
of escape, during spontaneous family floor wrestling.&nbsp; His 
grandchildren, Ethan, Decker, Isaac, Ben, and Hannah were also met with 
his famous full and half nelsons.&nbsp;Steve went on to Kansas State 
University and, like four brothers before him, attended the School of 
Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1966.&nbsp; On June 5, 1965, he married 
Linda Louise Ward in Manhattan.&nbsp; Following graduation, Steve and Linda
