Rachel Thille Beavers, 54, of Colby, KS, passed away on November 3, 2022, after a lifetime of mental illness. 
Rachel was born on September 6, 1968, to Mathew Gail and Elizabeth 
Thille, in Osborne, KS. After graduating from Waconda East High School 
in 1987, she earned her bachelor’s degree at Avila College of Overland 
Park, KS. 
Rachel and her ex-husband, John Beavers, had one daughter Ruby Beavers. 
Rachel enjoyed spending time outside exploring with her lab dog, painting, and sharing stories from the past. 
Rachel was preceded in death by her father, Mathew Gail Thille, brother,
 Rusty Thille, and ex-husband John Beavers. She is survived by her 
mother Elizabeth Thille; her sister Ruthann Zentner; brothers, Randy and
 Robyn Thille; her daughter, Ruby Beavers Johnson, and her grandson, 
Rylan Johnson. 
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a memorial donation be made to 
offset burial costs, allowing her daughter Ruby to lay her mom to rest.

Rachel Thille Beavers

Patricia A. “Pat” (McKenna) Hartzog, of Hoxie, KS, passed away on November 14, 2022, at the Sheridan County Health Complex in Hoxie, KS, at the age of 85. 

She was born on October 29, 1937, to Theodore and Ruby (Rolland) McKenna in&nbsp;Oberlin, Kansas.&nbsp;She married Lloyd Krizek,&nbsp;and after he passed away&nbsp;on March 21, 1957,&nbsp;she married Earl Hartzog on April 20, 1958. She&nbsp;was&nbsp;blessed with 3 children:&nbsp;Mike,&nbsp;Virginia, and&nbsp;Harold.&nbsp;

Pat graduated from Jennings High School in 1956.&nbsp;She&nbsp;kept busy raising her children and later, Grandma Pat’s Daycare. She loved&nbsp;kids – everybody’s kids, and especially her family. She enjoyed working in her garden and giving away the fruits of her labor, oftentimes in the form of the jellies she made&nbsp;and her famous chocolate chip cookies. She very&nbsp;much&nbsp;loved&nbsp;traveling with Earl. She was an active&nbsp;member of the Christ Community Church.&nbsp;

Pat is survived by her children:&nbsp;Virginia Fullbright (Irlan) of Ellinwood,&nbsp;KS&nbsp;and&nbsp;Harold Hartzog of Hoxie; sister, Donna Chambers of McCook, NE; sister-in-law, Gloria McKenna of Colby, KS; 3 grandchildren: Brad Fullbright (Jodi), Cody Holzmeister (Christie), and&nbsp;Megan&nbsp;Jacques (Ryan); and 6 great-grandchildren: Kolton&nbsp;and Carli&nbsp;Fullbright, Kaylynn Holzmeister, Gabe,&nbsp;Rhythm and Ranger Jacques.&nbsp;

She is preceded in death by her parents,&nbsp;Theodore&nbsp;and Ruby McKenna; husbands,&nbsp;Lloyd Krizekand&nbsp;Earl Hartzog; son, Mike Krizek; brother, Edward&nbsp;McKenna; grandson&nbsp;Alan Fullbright; and daughter-in-law Yvette Hartzog.

Karl Eric Schwenneker, 72, passed away November 14, 2022, at his home
 in Great Bend, Kan.&nbsp; He was born June 20, 1950, to George and Marjorie

Karl, a retired Sunflower Diversified Services employee, was a 
longtime resident of Great Bend and previously lived in Kinsley, Kan.,&nbsp; and Nye, Mont.&nbsp; He enjoyed drinking coffee and taking naps while 
enjoying his favorite TV shows. He will be missed for his friendly 
conversation and story-telling.

He was preceded in passing by his parents.

Visitation will be from Noon to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 16,

Karl Eric Schwenneker

Bonnie Lee Fountain passed from life November 9, 2022, in Hill City, 
Kansas. Born Bonnie Lee Robinson, September 29, 1930, in Denver, Colorado,&nbsp; to Donle Edwin and Claris (Clark) Robinson. She was the first of their 
six children starting childhood in the hills of Missouri and later 
moving to Weatherford, Oklahoma.

Bonnie was a graduate of 
Weatherford High School Class of 1948. She and her classmates remained a
 close-knit group throughout the years, meeting annually in various 
vacation spots where lifelong memories were made.  One special memory 
was the invitation from astronaut Thomas P. Stafford, a classmate and 
lifelong friend, to attend a space launch in Florida.

She began 
her journey in higher education at Southwestern Oklahoma State 
University as a Medical Technician, earning her Bachelor of Science 
Degree in Biology.  She interned, and later was employed. at St. Anthony
 Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Her love of teaching came about 
accidentally when she was asked to watch a class for a teacher that had 
an emergency phone call. When the teacher didn’t return, she grabbed a 
book, gave the kids a snack and started reading as she did with her 
siblings at home.

Bonnie’s teaching career spanned many states and
 grade levels, including teaching Home Economics in the Intermountain 
Indian School in Brigham City, Utah. With the help of an interpreter, 
she taught grade school in a multi-cultural school in Texas, and schools
 in Oklahoma before settling in Hill City as a grade school/reading 
teacher.  Along her teaching journey, she discovered grade schoolers 
were her favorite age.

On April 12, 1963, Bonnie and Clair Eugene 
Fountain were married, adding farm wife to her resume. Mary Fountain, 
Clair’s sister-in-law introduced the couple at a card party.

The 
beloved Hill City first grade teacher and owner of Fountain Pre-School 
enjoyed using innovative teaching in her classroom. Included were live 
animals, a grasshopper farm, even an old bathtub as a reading carrel.

Although
 she did not meet the qualifications of a 20-year Kansas Teacher, 
several teachers were inducted into the Kansas Teacher Hall of Fame due 
to Bonnie’s successful nominations.  She served as a representative to 
the Kansas Board of Education and traveled to Topeka for meetings. She 
was also a life member of KNEA, NEA, Delta Kappa Gamma (a teacher 
sorority) and Daughters of the American Revolution, a 15-year member of 
High Plains Mental Health Board, Sunday School teacher, and 4-H leader.

Among
 her passions were her Greenheaded Amazon Parrots, Polito and Donald, 
often joking they were more important than her children. Well-known for 
her wheat weavings, Bonnie belonged to Kansas Straw Artists and the 
National Wheat Weavers Association. She attended and conducted classes 
for both and was honored as one of the Kansas artists to have her work 
displayed on the White House Christmas tree. Her works have traveled the
 world from Africa, South America, Japan and of course numerous local 
homes.  As a breast cancer survivor, Bonnie grew her hair and donated 28
 inches to Locks of Love for wigs.

Preceding her in death were her
 husband, Clair Fountain, sisters: Quembee Mary Lou Walking Stick and 
Sheril Jean Robinson; her brother Clark Henry Robinson; miscarried 
daughter, Sheril Jean Fountain, and grandson Zachary Lee Maupin.

Surviving
 are her children: David Fountain and wife Karen of Morland, Quembee 
LaDonna Garringer and husband Benton of Bogue; brothers Donald Edward 
Robinson and wife Deloris of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma and Max Riley Robinson 
of Yukon, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Brandon Eggelston Starla Eggelston, 
DVM, both of Oklahoma City, Johnny Levi Maupin and wife Joyce of Colby, 
Jesse Clair Maupin of Texas, Skylar Jo Rife of Ellis and Katie Burris of
 Texas; along with numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

As
 a tribute to Bonnie’s friendship, her high school classmates have 
established a memorial in her name to the Thomas P. Stafford Air and 
Space Museum in Weatherford, Oklahoma.

Bonnie Lee Fountain

Ross Edward 
Ailslieger, 85, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2022, surrounded 
by family. He was born September 24, 1937, in Hays, Kansas, to Herbert 
Edward and Mary May (Pizinger) Ailslieger, the youngest of three 
children. 

Upon graduation from Hoisington (KS) High School in 
1955, Ross joined the Army, serving in the military police in Korea and 
Yuma, AZ. While stationed at Yuma, Ross was also a member of the base 
parachute team, making over 100 jumps. 

In 1959, he attended Ft. 
Hays State University, obtaining a BA &amp; MS in Experimental 
Psychology. It was there that he met the love of his life, Sharon Marie 
Shue; marrying in 1965. Their union lasted 57 years, producing three 
sons and five grandchildren. His greatest love was his family – he was 
so proud of their accomplishments.

Ross spent his career in the 
aerospace industry and the family went where his job led him. They lived
 in California, the Marshall Islands, and North Dakota before returning 
to Wichita in 1978, where Ross retired from Boeing, in 1996, as a Human 
Factors Engineering Manager.  

Ross loved anything with an engine 
that flew, floated or went fast. As a result, he owned several 
airplanes, boats, motorcycles, and sports cars over his life. He was a 
flight instructor for many years and loved passing on his love of flying
 to his students. He also enjoyed the many hours he spent with his sons 
working on their muscle cars when they were younger. 

Ross and 
Sharon also loved to travel, visiting many countries. They discovered 
RVing, in retirement, and traveled all over the US.

Ross is 
preceded in death by his parents, brother, Herbert; sister, Gloria Nuss;
 and son, Alex. He is survived by wife, Sharon, sons Paul (Suzanne), 
Kristafer (Rhonda) and grandchildren, Elizabeth and Lauren Dwyer and 
Lauren, Morgan, and Braden Ailslieger (and his fur babies, Tina &amp; 
Jerry).

Visitation will be November 17, 2022, at Resthaven Mortuary, on west Kellogg from 5 to 8 pm. 

Services
 will be held November 18, 2022, at Ascension Lutheran Church, 842 N. 
Tyler, Wichita, KS 67212 at 10am. Interment will be immediately 
following at Resthaven Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice for their care during Ross’s last days.

Alan Lee Robins, 61, died November 12, 2022, in Wichita, Kansas.&nbsp; He 
was born on May 5, 1961, at Dodge City, Kansas, the son of Don and Karon 
(Melia) Robins.

Alan worked as a parts manufacturer for Curtis Machine Co. Inc. He 
enjoyed fishing and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and KU basketball 
fan. He also loved a good barbeque at home with family

Alan is survived by his parents, Don and Karen Robins of Dodge City, 
KS; his wife, Judith Ibarra Robins of Dodge City, KS; two sisters, Jil 
Rodriguez of Dodge City, KS and Niki Waldron (Chris) of&nbsp; Vallejo, CA; 
children, Tim Robins of NE, Ashley Lewis (Rusty) of Ellis, KS, and Heath
 Robins of Ellis, KS; and six grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a
 brother, Wesley Robins and a sister, Kenda Robins.

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Saturday 
November 19, 2022, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Kirk&nbsp; Larson presiding.&nbsp; There

Robert “Bob” L. Durheim, 85, died Saturday, November 12, 2022, at St Catherine’s of Dodge City.

He was born April 12, 1937, in Beatrice, Nebraska, the son of Clifford 
and Francis (Meyers) Durheim.&nbsp; He was a graduate of Great Bend High 
School.&nbsp; He married Una Rae Nuss on July 28, 1957, at Great Bend and they
 moved to Dodge City in the early 1960s.&nbsp; He was a letter carrier for 
the United States Postal Service for many years and later worked for 
Centel as a power plant operator until retiring.

He served in the United States Army during the Korean war.&nbsp; He was a 
member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and Howard Gotschall VFW Post 1714 
both in Dodge City. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and 
fishing, enjoyed traveling on family vacations, took pride in his 
gardening, and was quite the handy man.

Survivors include: his son, Steve Durheim and wife Janet of Ellis, 
Kansas; his daughter Debbie Harris and husband Larry of Dodge City; his 5
 grandchildren, Travis Elder, Jamie Durheim, Emily Hiss, Ashley Harris 
and Jacob Harris; and 2 great grandchildren, Oliver Hiss and Laurel 
Gerber.

He was preceded in death by his wife Una Rae on March 12, 2021, his parents and his sister, Nancy Schrader.

Memorial service will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at 
Holy Cross Lutheran Church with Rev. Randall Jahnke officiating.&nbsp; 
Inurnment will follow at the Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery, Ft. Dodge, with 
military honors by Howard Gotschall VFW Post 1714 and Military Honors 
for the state of Kansas. There will be no public viewing, cremation has 
taken place.&nbsp; Friends may sign the register Monday, November 21, 2022,&nbsp; from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City.

Harry L. Schneider, 94, Otis, Kansas, passed away Sunday, November 
13, 2022, at Rush County Memorial Hospital Intermediate Swing Bed, La 
Crosse, Kansas.

Harry was born September 13, 1928, in Rush County, Kansas, the son of
 Jacob and Edna (Brack) Schneider.&nbsp; He was a lifelong resident of Rush 
County, Kansas.&nbsp; He owned and operated OK Oil Service in Otis, Kansas, a
 Mobil Oil distributor for many years before his retirement.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Otis, Kansas.&nbsp; Harry was also the former fire chief of Otis, Kansas.&nbsp;

He married Alberta M. Brack in 1951 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Otis, Kansas.&nbsp; She preceded him in death March 27, 1999.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his daughter, Lee Anne Schneider, (October 21, 2011).

Per Harry’s wishes, the family has chosen cremation.

Memorial service will be Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at
 Trinity Lutheran Church, Otis, Kansas, with Stan Ewy, SAM officiating.&nbsp;

A private family inurnment will be at a later date in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Otis, Kansas.

Celebration of Mosier's life scheduled this weekend in Hays

Dondra “Dondi” Lyn Doty, age 61, passed 
away on November 13, 2022, at the Greeley County Hospital in Tribune, 
Kansas. She was born on July 18, 1961, at the very same hospital where 
she worked and passed. She was the daughter of Robert Moser Sr. and 
Margaret “Maggie” (Curtis) Moser. She was a life long resident of 
Tribune. She was a nurse for 32 years with a Bachelor’s in Nursing.&nbsp; She
 retired from nursing in 2020.

Dondi’s retirement gave her even more time to enjoy traveling, 
playing bingo, and bowling. Her favorite activity was spending time with
 her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, two sons, Justin Doty of Tribune, 
Kansas, Travis &amp; Rachel Doty of Burlington, Colorado, four siblings;
 Brenda &amp; Bob Gonzales of Topeka, Kansas, Wanda Stewart of Jasper, 
Georigira, Dr. Bob Moser &amp; Dalene of Lawrence, Kansas, Charles Moser
 of Tribune, Kansas, three grandchildren; Cooper, Myla, and Lynnex.

Daniel 'Dan' Edwards

Velda Irene Skolaut, of WaKeeney, KS, passed away on November 13, 
2022, at the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney, at the 
age of 73. 

She was born on November 30, 1948, to Russell and Ester 
“Arlene” (Hillman) Grecian in Hays, KS. She was married to Roger Sells 
on May 27, 1968. They were blessed with three children: Roger Jr “Bub”, 
Mindie, and Lee. They later divorced.

Velda grew up in 
WaKeeney and graduated from Trego County High School in 1966. She then 
went on to cosmetology school and was a beautician for many years. Velda
 loved her family and all her grandkids, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed
 road trips, especially her kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events. In her
 earlier years she enjoyed dancing, gambling, yard sales, partying, 
Bingo, and taking care of the neighborhood.

Velda loved
 people and enjoyed life to the fullest. Her strong spirit and open 
heart made all who knew her feel loved and cared for. Always putting the
 needs of her family, friends, and neighbors ahead of her own, she was a
 woman with a heart of gold who lived a life of simplicity, grace, and 
beauty. May we be comforted in remembering her life in its totality, and
 that as she enters eternal glory, the old things will pass, and all 
things will be made new.

Velda is survived by her

Gillian Killmayer, Reed Killmayer, Teghan Groff (Brandon), Taylor 
Schoenthaler (Corbin), and Tanner Sells; and 5 great-grandchildren:

 Schoenthaler.

Velda is preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Arlene Grecian; and brother, Richard Grecian.

Velda Irene Skolaut

Sharyn Colene (Lambert) Kilian, 61, of Russell, Kansas, died on 
Thursday, November 10, 2022, at the St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, 
Kansas.

Sharyn was born on September 29, 1961, in Plainville,
 Kansas, the daughter of Elwyn James and Wilda Madeline (Hand) Lambert.&nbsp;
 She grew up in Stockton, Kansas, and graduated from Stockton High 
School in 1979.&nbsp; In her teenage years Sharyn worked in her mother’s café
 as a waitress &amp; short order cook. After graduation she attended the
 Hays Academy of Hair Design in Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; She was a beautician for 
over 30 years, during this time she also worked as a bartender for the 
Stockton VFW Post #8873.&nbsp; Through a mutual friend she met, fell in love 
and was united in marriage to Anthony “Tony” Dennis Kilian on October 
25, 2008, in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; Sharyn then worked as a canteen manager 
at the Russell V.F.W. Post #6240 for several years and currently worked 
as head cook at the Russell Senior Center.&nbsp; She enjoyed cooking, 
gambling at casinos with Tony and friends, flowers, dancing, watching 
soap operas, Kansas University sports, Kansas City Chiefs football and 
betting at horse racing.&nbsp; Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her
 family and many friends.&nbsp; She will be fondly remembered for her dry 
wit, cooking skills and especially her deviled eggs.

Surviving family include her husband Tony of the home, twin sister

Thursday, November 10, 2022, at the St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, 
Kansas.Sharyn was born on September 29, 1961, in Plainville,
 Kansas, the daughter of Elwyn James and Wilda Madeline (Hand) Lambert.&nbsp;
 She grew up in Stockton, Kansas, and graduated from Stockton High 
School in 1979.&nbsp; In her teenage years Sharyn worked in her mother’s café
 as a waitress &amp; short order cook. After graduation she attended the
 Hays Academy of Hair Design in Hays, Kansas.&nbsp; She was a beautician for 
over 30 years, during this time she also worked as a bartender for the 
Stockton VFW Post #8873.&nbsp; Through a mutual friend she met, fell in love 
and was united in marriage to Anthony “Tony” Dennis Kilian on October 
25, 2008, in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; Sharyn then worked as a canteen manager 
at the Russell V.F.W. Post #6240 for several years and currently worked 
as head cook at the Russell Senior Center.&nbsp; She enjoyed cooking, 
gambling at casinos with Tony and friends, flowers, dancing, watching 
soap operas, Kansas University sports, Kansas City Chiefs football and 
betting at horse racing.&nbsp; Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her
 family and many friends.&nbsp; She will be fondly remembered for her dry 
wit, cooking skills and especially her deviled eggs.Surviving family include her husband Tony of the home, twin sister

Martha Marie Leonhardt passed away in Sacramento, California, on November 7, 2022.&nbsp; She was 98 years old. She was born in Hays, Kansas, on February 8, 1924, and was one of ten children born to Peter and Rosa Spies.&nbsp; Martha grew up and attended school in Hays and had many happy memories from that time, especially summer days reading books from the library and swimming in the community pool.&nbsp; Martha and Cletus moved to San Mateo, California and raised their family in that community.&nbsp; After retirement they lived in Orangevale, California, where Martha went to college and became an Executive Housekeeper for Kaiser Hospitals. Martha and her husband returned to Hays in 1999 to spend time with family and childhood friends.&nbsp; In 2007, Martha returned to Sacramento, California, to be nearer to her children. &nbsp; Her survivors include her sons Kenneth Leonhardt (Carole), Robert Leonhardt and David Leonhardt (Tammie) and her daughter Donna Leonhardt. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. &nbsp; Martha was predeceased by her husband Cletus C. Leonhardt whom she married in June of 1942. Martha was also predeceased by her daughters Diana Mangin and Kerin Gale. &nbsp; Martha was guided by her strong and abiding faith throughout her life.&nbsp; She was a devoted and loving mother and her family will always cherish many wonderful memories of her care and devotion. Martha Marie Leonhardt

Scharlene Dee Mix, 57, passed away November 13, 2022, at Hodgeman County Health Center, Jetmore.

She was born October 16, 1965, in Jetmore, the daughter of Gary and 
Ruby Klein Rebel.&nbsp; Scharlene lived most of her life in Kansas, but had 
moved from Alamosa, CO to Jetmore 5 years ago. She was a homemaker and a
 secretary at the United Methodist Church for a short while and most 
recently was a secretary for Kindsvater Trucking in Dodge City.

She was a member of FCE and The Piecemakers, both of Jetmore.&nbsp; She 
loved to quilt, sew, knit, crochet and enjoyed fishing and camping and 
spending time with her grandchildren.

On September 7, 2013, she married Jimmy Mix in Pagosa Springs, CO.&nbsp; He survives.

Other survivors include: father, Gary (Susan) Rebel, La Crosse; son, 
Adam (Angie) Lopez, Pueblo, CO; two daughters, Sarah Soffel, Alamosa, 
CO, Crystal (Nate) Cornum, La Jara, CO; brother, Jeffery Rebel, 
Colorado; two sisters, Charlotte (VI) Macepuru, Albuquerque, NM, Becky 
Rebel, Denver, CO; fourteen grandchildren, Zachary, Adrianna, Rebecca, 
Xaiver, Bailey, Wyatt, Isabella, Quincy, Heavenly, Jonathan, Delton, 
Vaden, Zayin and Kahlynn.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby and a brother, Gary Rebel.

In his free time, he enjoyed bowling. Raymond and Carol Ann (Heier) were
 united in marriage on November 28, 1991. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Brenda McGuire; brother Alvin McGuire and a great grandchild. 
Raymond is survived by his wife Carol Ann; sons, Jerry (Teresa) McGuire

She was born November 11, 1926, in 
Catharine, the daughter of Albert and Cherubim (Giebler) Staab.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mary 
was a graduate of Girls Catholic High School, and on August 6, 1948, was
 united in marriage to Andrew J. Lang.&nbsp;&nbsp;They celebrated 66 years of 
marriage before he preceded her in death on August 21, 2014.&nbsp;&nbsp;She and 
her husband owned and operated several bars.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mary enjoyed music, 
playing Bingo, and loved her family.

Survivors include four sons: David Lang
 and wife Cindy, Wayne Lang and wife Tammy, Donald Lang and wife Martha,
 all of Hays, and Alan Lang and wife Susan of Wichita, a daughter: 
Dianne Patterson and husband Charles of Ellis, two sisters: Patty Staab 
of Russell and Roseann Seader of Louisville, CO, nine grandchildren, and
 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her

Mary Jane Lang

Kathleen Jane Beals Crampton passed away during her sleep Saturday, 
November 12, 2022, at Citizens Medical Center in Colby, Kansas. 
Kathleen was born January 27, 1942, in Farnam, Nebraska, to Nancy Jane 
Beals and Joseph Ralph Beals. Kathleen lived on her parent’s farm in 
Frontier County, Nebraska, and graduated high school from Cambridge, 
Nebraska. After graduation, she babysat her nephews before becoming a 
farm wife. 
Kathy married Kenneth Lee Crampton August 10, 1961, in Indianola, 
Nebraska. Three children were born to this union: Karmel Carothers, 
Martin Crampton, and Kendra Bernard. Kathy was a farm wife and was an 
excellent seamstress. Ken and Kathy lived and farmed in Frontier County,
 Nebraska until January 1972 when they moved to their farm in Levant, 
Kansas. In 1995 Ken and Kathy moved to their ranch, C Lazy V located in 
Sylvan Grove, Kansas. They spent their retirement years in Colby and 
Salome, Arizona. 
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Joe Beals, and 
son Martin Crampton. She leaves behind her husband, sisters Marilyn 
Kester and Celia Liffrig, two daughters, one daughter-in-law, and seven 
grandchildren. 
Her family will fondly remember her as a joyful and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. 
The visitation will be 5-7:00 p.m., with a Vigil at 6:00 p.m.,

Kathleen Jane Crampton (Beals)

Johnny “Junebug” Cheeks was born June 27, 1958, in Great Bend, Kansas, to Johnny Cheeks Sr. and Virginia Lee (Robinson) Cheeks.

Johnny attended Larned High School and graduated in 1976. After graduating, he went on to serve in the United States Army. &nbsp;After discharge from the military, he found his home in Hutchinson with his family in 1976.&nbsp; He worked as a forklift operator for Midwest Iron and Metal for many years.&nbsp; Johnny was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where he participated in the church choir and as an usher. &nbsp;Serving the Lord was one of Johnny’s greatest joys and we all find peace in knowing that he is right where he wants to be.

Johnny was preceded in death by his grandparents, Winifred and Beulah Robinson, as well as many dear aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Survivors include his daughter, Jonica Banks (Chris) of Clearwater, Florida; granddaughter, Aminah Banks who he was the greatest papa to; his mother, Virginia Cheeks of Hutchinson; sister, Jonnie Brown (Donnie) of Seattle, Washington; brother, Jerry Cheeks of Hutchinson; and longtime friend, Nece Killebrew.

After graduating, he went on to serve in the United States Army. &nbsp;After discharge from the military, he found his home in Hutchinson with his family in 1976.&nbsp; He worked as a forklift operator for Midwest Iron and Metal for many years.&nbsp; Johnny was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where he participated in the church choir and as an usher. &nbsp;Serving the Lord was one of Johnny’s greatest joys and we all find peace in knowing that he is right where he wants to be.Johnny was preceded in death by his grandparents, Winifred and Beulah Robinson, as well as many dear aunts, uncles, and cousins.Survivors include his daughter, Jonica Banks (Chris) of Clearwater, Florida; granddaughter, Aminah Banks who he was the greatest papa to; his mother, Virginia Cheeks of Hutchinson; sister, Jonnie Brown (Donnie) of Seattle, Washington; brother, Jerry Cheeks of Hutchinson; and longtime friend, Nece Killebrew.A Celebration of Johnny’s Life will take place on Wednesday, November 16 at 10:00 A.M., Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 1015 E. 7th&nbsp;Ave, with Reverend William J. Green, Sr. officiating. &nbsp;A visitation will be held at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th&nbsp;Ave, on Tuesday, November 15, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.&nbsp;

Johnny 'Junebug' Cheeks

Maxine Joyce Peter, 89, of Ellinwood passed away on November 4, 2022, at Bethany Home in Lindsborg, Kansas.

Mom
 was born in Ellinwood, Kansas on March 28, 1933, to Arden and Darlene 
Crossley.&nbsp; She attended Ellinwood Grade School and Ellinwood High School
 graduating in 1951.&nbsp; She met her future husband (our father), Duane 
Peter, in high school.&nbsp; It wasn’t until after high school that they 
began to date, and he became the love of her life.&nbsp; She graduated with a
 diploma in business from the Adela Hale School in Hutchinson in 1952. 
Later, she graduated from Barton County Community College with an 
associate degree in business.&nbsp; 

Education was always important to mom, 
and she encouraged that to us.&nbsp; She stressed education all throughout 
our lives, so we considered it a given that we follow her marching 
orders. Of the four of us, there are six bachelor’s degrees, and two 
master’s degrees.&nbsp; We have a clinical laboratory scientist, two music 
educators, and a CPA.

We grew up in a typical household back in 
the late 50s through the 80s.&nbsp; We knew our parents loved us very much. 
They wanted us to be happy and grow up to be good people and good 
citizens.&nbsp; We were nestled living close to lots of cousins, aunts and 
uncles, and grandparents. We loved growing up in Ellinwood and that was 
the world to us.

Throughout mom’s life, she held several jobs. Mom
 went to work for the electrical cooperative in Great Bend after 
graduation from school and continued to work there until her second 
child, Nancy, was born in 1960.&nbsp; Later in life, mom did secretarial work
 for Thompson Construction and Barton County Community College.&nbsp; She 
also enjoyed selling Avon and Mary Kay for many years.&nbsp; Her most 
important job though, was raising her four children.&nbsp; Dad was often in 
Tribune farming while Maxine had to hold down the fort in Ellinwood. Her
 children were her life.&nbsp; She attended everything they were in.&nbsp; She was
 always incredibly supportive of us, even when we got older, and then 
her grandchildren.&nbsp; She drove all over the state to watch her children 
perform, Lori and Nancy’s students’ performances, or watching Don and 
Craig run-in races. She even often participated in the races by running 
herself.&nbsp; While her body allowed it, she continued driving across the 
state for her grandchildren’s birthdays and other activities. When her 
life crippling disease slowed her down, she was only a block from where 
two of her grandchildren in Lindsborg attended school, so she was still 
able to catch their concerts and tennis matches.&nbsp;

While we were 
younger, she volunteered to help with Sunday school, Brownies, Cub 
Scouts, and Girl Scouts.&nbsp; Mom loved to stay active in every way.&nbsp; She 
was an exercise enthusiast; and was often spotted walking or jogging in 
the community. She and Dad enjoyed playing in Bridge Club together, but 
she was also very involved in her women’s Bridge Club, Tri-Circle, Unit,
 and the Red Hat Club.&nbsp; She was a founding member of the Wheat Bowl, 
served on the Kansas Tourism Committee, was a former President of the 
Ellinwood Chamber of Commerce, and past Grand Marshal of the After 
Harvest Festival Parade.&nbsp; She traveled the state promoting Ellinwood and
 the surrounding area at festivals, including the Kansas State Fair.&nbsp; 
She was involved with Ellinwood Area Enterprises and tourism projects, 
such as the Barton County Centennial Parade and the Ellinwood Gateway to
 Cheyenne Bottoms sign on the west side of town.&nbsp; She also served in an 
official capacity with the Barton County Democratic Party. She was 
dedicated to her family and the Ellinwood community.&nbsp;

Mom was 
preceded in death by her parents, Arden and Darlene Crossley; her 
brother, Gaylen Crossley; and her husband, our father, Duane Peter.&nbsp; She
 is survived by her four children; Don Peter (Carol Steele) of Leawood, 
Kansas; Nancy Green of Scott City, Kansas; Craig Peter of Prairie 
Village, Kansas and Lori (Sean) Nelson of Lindsborg, Kansas.&nbsp; She is 
also survived by her five grandchildren: Rachel (Dustin) Cooke, 
Christopher (Brittany) Green, Mattie Peter, and Per and Torsten Nelson.&nbsp;
 She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Ariana and Emerson 
Cooke, and one more on the way with Christopher and Brittany Green.

Cremation
 has taken&nbsp;place and services will be scheduled&nbsp;at a later date.

Maxine Joyce Peter

Julie Ann Cavender, age 66 years, of Great Bend, passed away on Nov. 
10, 2022, at The University of Kansas Health Systems – Great Bend Campus
 in Great Bend.&nbsp; 

Julie was born on May 22, 1956 at Oahu, Hawaii, to Don 
and Anna May (Smith) Jez.&nbsp; She grew up in Brownsville, Texas, and lived 
the life of a “Navy Brat” living in several places, and moved to Great 
Bend from Woodward, Okla. 44 years ago.&nbsp; Julie did in-home daycare for a
 number of years and was later employed by Dr. Copeland in Great Bend as
 an Eye Therapist.&nbsp; She was an accomplished artist in painting, 
photography, and ceramics, having attended Barton Community College in 
Great Bend in their Fine Arts program.&nbsp; Julie also loved gardening, 
raising houseplants, singing, and especially loved children.

Survivors
 include four daughters: Jennifer (&amp; Jason) Wilson of Lawrence, 
Michelle W. Cavender and Jewel R. Cavender, both of Great Bend, and 
Jessica I. (&amp; Matthew) Peebles of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren:&nbsp;
 Alees Cavender, Isabella Rodriguez, Jazmin Rodriguez, Daizy Gomez, 
Romeo Green, Genevieve Gilbert, Chandler Cavender, Kobi Wilson, Kalib 
Wilson, and Madisyn Peebles; three great-grandchildren:&nbsp; Kyleigh White, 
Sage Wilson, and Kingston Rodriguez, plus another on the way; one 
brother, Sam (&amp; Deanna) Smith of Windom.&nbsp; Julie was preceded in 
death by her parents; a brother Jez Jez, and a sister Jeanine Pettijohn.

According
 to her wishes, cremation has been chosen and a Celebration of Life 
Service will be held at a later date.&nbsp; Memorials may be directed to the
