Milton J. Dinges, 85, Hays, died Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Miles Memory Care in Papillion, Nebraska.

He was born January 2, 1937, in 
Schoenchen the son of Isidore “Issy” and Loretta (Werth) Dinges.&nbsp;&nbsp;In 
1955, he graduated from Schoenchen High School.&nbsp;&nbsp;On October 18, 1958, he
 was united in marriage to Gladys M. Werth in Schoenchen, and they 
celebrated 64 years of marriage.&nbsp;&nbsp;Milton served in the U.S. Army from 
1959 to 1962. &nbsp;He was a part-time farmer and traveling salesman.&nbsp;&nbsp;Milt 
and Gladys owned a commercial lighting business for most of his 
career.&nbsp;&nbsp;His memberships included St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, 
the Schoenchen Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council #4166, and the 
Bishop Cunningham Fourth Degree Assembly #282.&nbsp;&nbsp;Milton was a fun-loving,
 kind man who didn’t know a stranger and had the biggest heart.&nbsp;&nbsp;He 
loved golf, playing cards, dancing, scotch, and his family.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife Gladys of 
Hays, a son: Dale Dinges of Hays, a daughter: Deanna Hanquist and 
husband Brant of Papillion, NE, a brother: Thomas Dinges and wife Susan 
of Schoenchen, a sister: Pam Basgall and significant other Vern Dreiling
 of Schoenchen, a grandson: Dalen Hanquist and wife Bernadette of 
Ottawa, Canada, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his 
parents, his sister: Rosanne Bieker and husband Kenny, and three young 
sisters, Bernita, Thelma, and Mary Jane Dinges.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 
10:00 am on Friday, December 2, 2022, at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic 
Church in Hays, with Fr. Damian Richards officiating.&nbsp;&nbsp;Inurnment with 
military honors by the Hays VFW Post #9076 Honor Guard will follow in 
St. Anthony Cemetery in Schoenchen.&nbsp;&nbsp;Visitation will be from 5:00 pm 
until 8:00 on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral
 Home and from 9:00 am until service time on Friday at the church.&nbsp;&nbsp;A 
St. Anthony Altar Society Christian Mothers rosary will be at 5:30 pm, a
 vigil service will be at 6:00 pm, followed by a combined Third and 
Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus rosary, all on Thursday, December 1 at
 the funeral home.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Dorothy P. Dibble

Robert Ayers Hutchison, 90, passed away November 13, 2022, in the 
arms of his loving wife of 69 years, Pat, at Hutchinson Regional Medical
 Center after a brief illness. In addition to his wife, he is survived 
by his son Randy (Debie), of Centennial, CO, and son Jim (Sondra), of 
Hutchinson, 6 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.

Robert Ayers Hutchison was born February 25th, 1932, in 
Greeley, CO, to Carl and Clemma (Hutchison) Ayers. Bob’s mother passed 
away from pneumonia two days after his birth. Since Carl had 5 older 
children to care for, he asked Clemma’s brother and his wife, Hartzel 
and Bertha (Converth) Hutchison, to care for Bob until Carl could 
arrange to care for him at some future date. It was not long before 
Hartzel and Bertie loved Bob as if he were their own. Bob was raised by 
his uncle and aunt on their modest farm 16 miles northwest of Dodge 
City. He graduated from Dodge City High School in 1950 and from Fort 
Hays State University in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1969 he
 received a Master’s Degree in teaching from Western State University in
 Gunnison, Co.

The Albert Wasson family farmed a few miles from the Hutchison’s. Bob
 had known this family for several years. He was smitten with their 
daughter, Patsy.&nbsp; They were married August 23, 1953, three months after 
Patsy graduated from Dodge City High School. 

Bob spent his life as an 
educator, teaching industrial arts in Garden City, Tribune, Flagler, CO,
 and Eagle CO. In 1964 he switched to teaching 6th grade when
 they moved to Aurora, CO, where he taught for the next 15 years. Bob 
had a lifetime love of automobiles and spent several years in the auto 
repair business. Bob and Pat then moved to Gunnison, CO, where they 
enjoyed their love of snowmobiling in the winter and 4-wheeling in the 
summer. They later returned to Dodge City and then settled in Hutchinson
 where they have lived for the last 17 years. Bob was a Para in the 
Hutchinson School District until 3 years ago when he finally retired 
altogether.

Bob was an outstanding husband, father, and grandfather. He was loved and respected by all who knew him.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2022, at the
 Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Seth Hamilton officiating. &nbsp;The 
memorial service can be viewed online by going to Robert’s obituary and

Robert A. Hutchison

Kip Michael Boomhower, 58, of Russell, Kansas, passed away Monday, November 14, 2022, at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

Kip was born October 14, 1964, in Hoisington, Kansas.&nbsp; He was one of three children to Gerald and Virginia (Tauscher) Boomhower.&nbsp; He grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School.

Kip was united in marriage to Kathy Curtis on May 12, 1990, in Hudson, Kansas.&nbsp; This union was blessed with three children; Bailey, Jesse and Wyatt.&nbsp; They made their home in Russell.

Kip was a Rancher most all of his life in Russell.&nbsp; He was a member of the American Paint Horse Association, American Quarter Horse Association, and the Red Angus Association.&nbsp; He was a 4-H leader when his children were involved with 4-H.

Kip’s surviving family include his wife, Kathy of Russell, Kansas; daughter, Bailey Boomhower (Mitch) of Phillipsburg, Kansas; sons, Jesse Boomhower (Kelli) of Russell, Kansas and Wyatt Boomhower (Keena) of Ashland, Kansas; mother, Virginia Boomhower of Russell, Kansas; sisters, Lisa Moubry (Brian) of Bunker Hill, Kansas and Denise VanDegrift (Tom) of Luray, Kansas; and a grandchild, Avery Boomhower.

Kip was preceded in death by his father and infant daughter Valerie Boomhower.

A Greeting will be held from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday, November 21, 2022, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary, where the family will be present to greet friends.&nbsp; Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday at the mortuary.&nbsp;

Jerry Ray Clarke, 79, passed away November 15, 2022, at his home.&nbsp; He
 was born December 31, 1942, in Hutchinson, KS, to David James Clarke 
and Velma Marie (Corkins) Clarke.

Jerry was a 1961 graduate of Ellinwood High School, Ellinwood, KS.&nbsp; 
He also graduated from Salt City Business College, Hutchinson.&nbsp; Jerry 
served in the United States Army Reserves.&nbsp; He was employed for many 
years as an accountant at Consolidated Manufacturing Inc., Hutchinson.&nbsp; 
Jerry was a longtime member of Eastwood Church of Christ, Hutchinson.

He enjoyed fishing and playing cards with a card group comprised of 
family friends.&nbsp; Jerry and his wife, Anita, liked to travel, and 
frequently visited Hawaii and Branson, MO.&nbsp; They even participated in a 
church mission work trip to Antiqua.&nbsp; He loved to dress up as Santa 
Claus and Anita as Mrs. Claus to bring many hours of entertainment for 
his family and for families of the church.

On May 14, 1963, Jerry married Anita Rae Fletcher, at the South 
Hutchinson United Methodist Church.&nbsp; They shared over 59 years of 
marriage.

He is survived by:&nbsp; his wife, Anita Clarke of Hutchinson; sisters, 
Marilyn (Delmer Thibault) Sherman of Hays, KS, and Darlene Oglesbee of 
Palatka, FL; and numerous nephews, nieces, great-nephews, and 
great-nieces.

Jerry was preceded in death by:&nbsp; his maternal and paternal grandparents; parents; and three brothers-in-law.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 
Eastwood Church of Christ, 2500 N. Plum, Hutchinson, with Wayne DeWindt 
officiating.&nbsp; Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday 
through Friday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, at Elliott Mortuary.&nbsp; 
Cremation has taken place.

Lifelong Phillips County resident Derek T. Kats passed away Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the Phillips County Hospital, Phillipsburg, at the age of 86.

He was born August 15, 1936, in Phillips County, KS the son of Theodore and Grace (Engelsman) Kats.&nbsp; He was a farmer.

Derek was united in marriage to Shirley L. Alexander on April 10, 1960, at Norton, Kansas.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on April 1, 2015.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include daughters, Kathy &amp; husband, Tim&nbsp;Nimz, of Littleton, CO, Sherry &amp; husband, Alan Woodside, of Prairie View, KS, and Vicky &amp; husband, Steve Allen, of Fredericksburg, VA; two grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother Sherlyn Kats and wife Irene of Spring Hill, KS; and two sisters Jean&nbsp;VandeHoef&nbsp;and Holland, MI and Marianne&nbsp;Schlatter&nbsp;of Smith Center, KS.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 21, 2022, in the&nbsp;Luctor Christian Reformed Church with Pastor Shawn Richardson officiating.&nbsp; Burial will follow in the&nbsp;Luctor&nbsp;Cemetery.

Robert Yarmer, 64, died November 16, 2022. He&nbsp;was born to&nbsp;Vernon&nbsp;and Arlene (Stoss)&nbsp;Yarmer on July 5, 1958. He grew up on a farm in rural Russell County near Galatia.

He attended St. Ann’s Catholic Elementary School&nbsp;through the 8th&nbsp;grade. &nbsp;Then&nbsp;graduated with the class of 1977 from Russell High School.

He married the love of his life, Valerie Brummer on October 10th, 1981. Together they raised their four children;&nbsp;Megan, Devan, Andrea, &amp; Audra on their farm&nbsp;in southwest Russell County. &nbsp;He loved spending time with his children,&nbsp;hunting, fishing, working with horses, dancing,&nbsp;and playing cards.

Robert was a rancher and farmer his whole life. When&nbsp;he was younger he enjoyed hunting&nbsp;and farming with his Grandpa. &nbsp;As the years passed Robert worked hard to grow the family farm. &nbsp;If he wasn’t at the farm, he was&nbsp;working at the sale barn or selling seed.&nbsp;Later,&nbsp;he helped Devan on the farm by watching&nbsp;on-line&nbsp;auctions and bull sales for him.&nbsp;

Building relationships with people was one thing he did best. Robert had a heart of gold and was always willing to help a neighbor.&nbsp;He didn’t know a stranger and had the personality to talk&nbsp;with anyone. &nbsp;He loved entertaining everyone&nbsp;with a story and&nbsp;a joke and would often leave them smiling ear to ear.&nbsp;Robert had a&nbsp;huge heart&nbsp;and was very giving. He would often makegifts in his free time&nbsp;from horseshoes and wood.&nbsp;

Something Robert enjoyed most of all&nbsp;was being with family. &nbsp;He loved&nbsp;taking his grandkids on wheelchair rides,&nbsp;teaching them how to play checkers, and telling stories&nbsp;especially of hunting and fishing. &nbsp;Robert&nbsp;also&nbsp;loved driving around looking at crops and cattle.

Robert was a member&nbsp;at&nbsp;St. Ann Catholic Church,&nbsp;Olmitz&nbsp;Knights&nbsp;of Columbus Council #2100, Russell County Farm Bureau, and a past trustee&nbsp;of the Winterset Township Board.

He is survived by his&nbsp;mother, Arlene Yarmer of Russell;&nbsp;wife, Valerie of the home, and four children, Megan (Jared) Herl of Hays, Devan (Meggy) Yarmer of Russell, Andrea (Greg) Wertz of Bedford, Pennsylvania, and Audra (Cory)&nbsp;Brown&nbsp;of Oakley;&nbsp;nine grandchildren, Saige, Wyatt, and Maverick Herl, Troy&nbsp;and Trent Yarmer, Augustus and Catherina Wertz, and Ava and Colter Brown;&nbsp;sisters, Rhonda (John) Glassman of Russell, Rebecca (Allen) Cameron of Grant City, Missouri, Rochelle (Curtis) Kuhn of Victoria,&nbsp;a brother, Verlin&nbsp;(Susanne) Yarmer of Russell;&nbsp;and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Vernon Yarmer.

Visitation will be&nbsp;12 noon to 5 p.m., Saturday, November 19th, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. On&nbsp;Sunday, November 20th, 2022,&nbsp;there will be visitation&nbsp;at St. Ann Catholic Church, Olmitz, Kansas from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a&nbsp;Vigil&nbsp;and&nbsp;Knights of Columbus Rosary beginning at 6 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Monday, November 21st, 2022, at St. Ann Catholic Church, Olmitz, Kansas, celebrated by Father Jacob Schneider. &nbsp;Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery.

Robert Yarmer

Josephine “Jo” Marie (Goodnough) Yakich,&nbsp;95 years young, residing in 
Westminster, Colorado, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday,
 November 2, 2022, at her home, Keystone Place at Legacy Ridge.

Jo was born in Bennington, Kansas,&nbsp;to&nbsp;Edward and Frances Goodnough on
 October 6, 1927.&nbsp; She attended high school in Hays, Kansas, graduated 
in 1945 with a music scholarship to Fort Hays Kansas State University. 
&nbsp;She went on to earn a college degree, majoring in music, from Fort Hays
 State University. &nbsp;This was a remarkable accomplishment for a young 
woman in 1949.&nbsp; That was not enough for Jo as shortly thereafter, she 
moved to the big city of Denver, Colorado where she began work as a 
receptionist at the University of Denver.&nbsp; During her early years in 
Denver, she was the First Oboist in the Denver Community Symphony (later
 the Denver Philharmonic), conducted by Dr. Antonio Brico, the first 
woman to conduct the New York Philharmonic. &nbsp;

Though music was her passion, Jo was also an exercise enthusiast 
(until she was 93!); and she enjoyed tennis, bicycling, volleyball, and 
softball.&nbsp; She met Eli Yakich Jr. at the boarding house where they both 
lived, and they married on Christmas Eve in 1950.&nbsp; They settled in 
Aurora, Colorado and Jo became an organist at St. Therese Church.&nbsp; For 
the next 40+ years, she accompanied Sunday mass (and the choir), as well
 as funerals and weddings for parishioners.&nbsp; During those years, Jo 
taught piano out of her home and was a substitute teacher while raising 
her four children.&nbsp; She continued to teach and give piano lessons for 
the next 15 years.&nbsp; After she let the school system Jo worked fulltime 
at a bank for a couple of years before joining the Aurora Municipal 
Court as a court reporter. Jo would work for the Court for 13 years 
before retiring.&nbsp;

Jo and Eli retired to Salida, Colorado, and Jo became an organist and
 choir member of St. Joseph Catholic Church there.&nbsp; All who had the 
privilege of knowing Jo would use the same three words to describe her –
 sweet, genuine and kind.&nbsp; Jo affected many lives in her 95 years, but 
none more so than her loving family who will miss her always and love 
her forever.&nbsp;

Jo&nbsp;was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Eli 
Yakich Jr.; her sister, Frances Rankin; her brother William McKinley; 
and her sister Eldora Verberg.&nbsp; Jo is survived by her children (Debra 
Yakich Montgomery of Parker, CO; David Yakich and wife Carrie of Arvada,
 Colorado; Diane Yakich Simondi and her husband Rudy of Golden Valley, 
MN; and Danell Yakich of St. Louis Park, MN); her two granddaughters 
(Sarah Yakich of Westminster, CO and Ali Yakich of Denver, CO); her 
niece, Lynn Kelly of Santa Fe, NM; and her nephew, Dennis McKinley of 
Buena Vista CO.

Services were Nov. 15 and in the care of the Archdiocese of Denver Catholica Funeral &amp; Cemetery Services.

Josephine 'Jo' Yakich

Kevin Lee Geerdes, 53, of Hoxie, Kansas, passed away on Monday, 
November 14, 2022, at his home. Kevin was born on June 14, 1969, in 
Hoxie, Kansas, to Robert “Bob” and Carol (Ochs) Geerdes. He was the 
second of three sons. Kevin attended Hoxie Grade and High School 
graduating with the class of 1987. After high school, he attended Fort 
Hays State University and graduated Cum Laude with a degree in 
Industrial Arts. After graduation, he returned to Hoxie where he made his
 home in rural Sheridan County.

Kevin worked in 
construction for a while, and then, he went into farming with his 
family. He was a farmer for most of his life raising crops and cattle.  
If Kevin wasn’t in the field or taking care of cattle, he was always 
busy in his wood shop making things.  When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed
 attending the Fort Hays State University and Hoxie High School 
basketball games. Kevin enjoyed attending rodeos and stock car races. He 
was always listening to sports on the radio. He was a member of the St. 
Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, the Elks, and was a
 boy scout when growing up.

Kevin is survived by his 
mother, Carol Geerdes of Hoxie, Kansas; brothers, Doug Geerdes and wife 
Dana of Hoxie, Kansas and Vic Geerdes and wife Kari of Hays, Kansas; 
nieces, Kayla Geerdes, Kelsey Geerdes, Katie Geerdes, Madison Geerdes, 
and Morgan Geerdes; and extended family and many friends.

He
 was preceded in death by his father, Robert Geerdes; and grandparents 
Henry W. and Margaret Geerdes and Clem and Emma Helen Ochs.

A
 Mass of Christian Burial is planned for Saturday, November 19, 2022, at
 10:30 A.M. at the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Hoxie, Kansas. 
Visitation and a Vigil and Rosary Service will be held Friday, November 
18, 2022, at the Mickey-Leopold Funeral Home, Hoxie Kansas. The 
visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with family 
receiving friends from 5:30 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. with the Vigil and 
Rosary Service stating at 7:00 P.M. immediately following the 
Visitation. Memorials are suggested to the St. Frances Cabrini Cemetery 
and Hoxie DSNWK.

All of Kevin’s plowing of the soil and
 taking care of livestock are over. He dwells with Christ above and has 
discovered the glories of Heaven. He loved his family, and his passing 
leaves a hole in their lives. They know as long as there is memory, 
Kevin will always be with them in their hearts.

Betty Lou Dalton Schuster, 84, was born on July 2nd, 1938,
 to Holly Dalton and Bertha Bradshaw Dalton in Salina, Kansas. She 
passed peacefully in her home the morning of November 16th, 2022, in 
Great Bend.&nbsp;

Betty was a proud Air Force military wife during her marriage to 
Glenn Schuster, supporting their family through many moves nationally 
and abroad. Betty gratefully returned to Kansas and set roots in Great 
Bend, where she lived her years writing poetry, painting, and going to 
local country music dances.

She is now joined with her two daughters, Carrie Heiderscheit and 
Beverly Schuster. She is survived by her daughter and caregiver, Diana 
Ferguson and husband Darwin of Great Bend, 5 grandchildren, and 7 great 
grandchildren.

Public visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 
Monday, November 21, 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to

Betty Lou Schuster

Mae Suppes, 84, passed away November 16, 2022, at Hays Medical 
Center, Hays, Kansas. She was born on August 24, 1938, in Victoria, to 
Joseph &amp; Elizabeth (Wellbrock) Brungardt. She married Edward Joseph 
Suppes on June 14, 1958, in Hays. He passed away September 3, 2005.

A longtime Great Bend resident, Mae worked for many years at both 
Gibson’s Hallmark and Great Bend Floral. She was a member of Prince of 
Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Altar Society, Daughters of
 Isabella, Central Kansas Thread Benders and the Barton County Art 
Society. She enjoyed traveling, quilting and spending time with her 
family.

Survivors include, three sons, Terry Suppes and wife Marsha of 
Overland Park, David Suppes and wife Michele of Fort Worth, Tex. and 
Rick Suppes of Overland Park; a brother, Dale Brungardt and wife Thuong 
of Hays; three sisters, Doreen Wildeman of Grainfield, Helen Van 
Quaetham of Raytown, Mo., and Mary Brungardt of Overland Park; a brother
 in law, Cornelius “Corny” Enslinger of Overland Park; six 
grandchildren, Nicole Miller (Joshua), Christopher Suppes, Shawn Suppes 
(Evangeline), Taylor Suppes, Kelly Parker (Trent) and Kristen Suppes; 
and one great grandson, Rhett Miller. &nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward J. 
Suppes; two sisters, Gerri Enslinger and Rose Brungardt; and a brother 
in law, Francis Wildeman

Visitation will be held from Noon to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 22,
 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Altar Society rosary at 4:00 p.m. 
and Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 
10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at St. Patrick Catholic 
Church, with Father Prakash Kola presiding. Interment will be in the 
Great Bend Cemetery.

Joseph &amp; Elizabeth (Wellbrock) Brungardt. She married Edward Joseph 
Suppes on June 14, 1958, in Hays. He passed away September 3, 2005.A longtime Great Bend resident, Mae worked for many years at both 
Gibson’s Hallmark and Great Bend Floral. She was a member of Prince of 
Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Altar Society, Daughters of
 Isabella, Central Kansas Thread Benders and the Barton County Art 
Society. She enjoyed traveling, quilting and spending time with her 
family.Survivors include, three sons, Terry Suppes and wife Marsha of 
Overland Park, David Suppes and wife Michele of Fort Worth, Tex. and 
Rick Suppes of Overland Park; a brother, Dale Brungardt and wife Thuong 
of Hays; three sisters, Doreen Wildeman of Grainfield, Helen Van 
Quaetham of Raytown, Mo., and Mary Brungardt of Overland Park; a brother
 in law, Cornelius “Corny” Enslinger of Overland Park; six 
grandchildren, Nicole Miller (Joshua), Christopher Suppes, Shawn Suppes 
(Evangeline), Taylor Suppes, Kelly Parker (Trent) and Kristen Suppes; 
and one great grandson, Rhett Miller. &nbsp;She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward J. 
Suppes; two sisters, Gerri Enslinger and Rose Brungardt; and a brother 
in law, Francis WildemanVisitation will be held from Noon to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 22,
 2022, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Altar Society rosary at 4:00 p.m. 
and Vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at

Kanorado, KS resident Mark Dale Swayne, 63, passed away unexpectedly at his home NE of Kanorado on Tuesday, November 15, 2022.

Mark was born on May 1, 1959, in Farmington, New Mexico, to Ted and Gertrude Swayne. &nbsp;He was one of 4 children. &nbsp;He attended grade school in Kanorado, KS and graduated from Goodland High School.

Over the years, Mark farmed with his dad, worked with Rick Farris custom harvesting and for the past 20 years&nbsp;Mark worked for Nutrein Agricultural Company.

He enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing as well as helping with wheat and corn harvest. &nbsp;He was active in the Goodland Elks Lodge and was honored as&nbsp;Elk of the year in 1988 and 1989. &nbsp;Mark was very active as a Jaycees National Senator and involved in Kansas, Colorado and Oklahoma Jaycees.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents&nbsp;Rudolph and Christina (Lippert) Schritter and Henry Sr. and Ethel (Doggett) Swayne&nbsp;and several aunts and uncles.

Surviving family includes his parents Ted and Gertrude Swayne of Goodland, Kansas,&nbsp;two brothers,&nbsp;Dr. Marlyn Swayne (Brenda) of Hays, KS, Marvin Swayne (Cindy) of Wichita, KS, one sister,&nbsp;Marlene Vickrey (Brad) of McPherson,&nbsp;KS. &nbsp;He is also survived by two nieces, Michelle Goff (Spencer),&nbsp;Dr.&nbsp;Shannon Swayne (Dusty),&nbsp;one nephew, Ryan Swayne (Elizabeth), &nbsp;t<a></a>wo&nbsp;great nephews,&nbsp;Mason Goff and Jackson Swayne and one great niece&nbsp;Aeris Goff.

Mark Dale Swayne

Catherine "Kitty" Pricilla Fixx was born on September 18, 1934,&nbsp; in New York City.  She and her brother, James (Jimmy) Fixx, bestselling 
author of  “The Complete Book of Running,” grew up in a loving home in 
Jackson Heights, NY.  Her father, Calvin Fixx, was an editor at Time 
Magazine and their mother, Marlys Fuller Fixx, had been a ballerina.  
Kitty grew up surrounded by her parent’s friends, influential 
journalists, poets, artists, and creative thinkers, (dubbed the 
“interstitial intellectuals" by Robert Vanderlan in his 2010 book), who 
inspired her lifelong interest in painting, drawing and poetry. 

 As a 
young girl, Kitty studied portraiture under the tutelage of the prolific
 artist, Boris Chaliapin. Chaliapin encouraged her to pursue her 
artistic talent, and at the young age of 11, Kitty rode the train into 
NYC weekly to study at The Art Students League of America. Her love of 
tennis was born at the Garden Country Day School in Queens where she and
 her brother, Jimmy, developed a friendly rivalry that lasted well into 
their adulthood.

Her father died when she was 13, and 
she and her mother moved to Oberlin, Ohio where Kitty pursued a degree 
in early education. After graduating from Oberlin College, she taught in
 Venezuela and Florida before marrying Walter Davis and moving with him 
to Verona, New Jersey, and then Santa Barbara, California. Her children,
 Martha and Tom, were added to the family in Santa Barbara before moving
 to Winchester, Massachusetts. After divorcing, Kitty remarried and 
moved back to Santa Barbara.

She was a creative person 
with a lifelong passion for painting, drawing, and writing.  She loved 
tennis and running and was into healthy eating before it was in vogue.  
She served on the board of the Inherited High Cholesterol Foundation, 
for many years.  She was an equally fervent activist, going door to door
 in the 70s to petition for school integration through the METCO 
program.  She loved God and worshipped at the Episcopal church, where 
she was often a lay reader.  She was an amazing mother who loved her 
children unconditionally and sacrificially.  She lived many adventures 
and enjoyed deep friendships with kindred spirits.  After the difficult 
loss of her 96 year old mother with whom she shared a deep and abiding 
bond, some cognitive issues began which resulted in the diagnosis of 
dementia in 2009.  After living with her daughter in Los Angeles, she 
later moved to Kansas to be closer to her son with whom she lived 
surrounded by her son, daughter-in-law and four grandchildren.  Kitty 
passed away peacefully in Salina, Kansas, on Sunday November 13, 2022.

She
 is survived by her children: Martha Davis of Los Angeles and Tom Davis 
of Salina, KS; her daughter in law, Kat, grandchildren: Kara, Kate, 
Calvin, Summer, and Zachariah, as well as her niece, Betsy and nephews, 
Paul, John and Stephen.  She was preceded in death by her Father, Calvin
 Fixx, her mother, Marlys Fuller Fixx and her brother James Fixx; also 
by her husband, Walter Davis and her second husband, James Bower.

Funeral services will be held privately at a later date.

Robert “Bob” Eugene Harris, 85, passed away peacefully November 12, 
2022, at Hospice House, Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp; He was born April 27, 1937, in 
Great Bend, KS, to John Francis Harris and Thelma Mae (Foreman) Harris.

Bob was a 1955 graduate of Great Bend High School.&nbsp; He attended 
Kansas State University for two years where he was a member of the Sigma
 Phi Epsilon fraternity. &nbsp; He then transferred to Fort Hays State 
University where he majored in Biology graduating&nbsp;in 1959.&nbsp; Bob began 
his teaching career in Stafford, KS, where he taught General Science and
 coached football, basketball, and track in the junior high school for 
three years.&nbsp; From 1961 to 1967, he taught science and coached at Marie 
L. Hare Intermediate School in Garden Grove, CA.&nbsp; From 1968 to 1981, Bob
 taught Biology, Zoology, and coached football and swimming at 
Hutchinson High School.&nbsp; In 1980, he began working as an insurance agent
 for Ozark National Life &amp; N.I.S. Financial Services.&nbsp; He retired in
 2020 at the age of 83.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Bob was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ.&nbsp; In his many years
 at Eastwood, he taught Bible classes, led singing, served communion, 
and was head of the missionary program.&nbsp; He was frequently found talking
 to others about Christ whom he loved beyond measure.&nbsp; He definitely 
epitomized a life of servitude.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Throughout his life, Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf.&nbsp;
 Bob was an avid sports fan who followed the Kansas City Chiefs, the 
Kansas State University Wildcats, and the University of Kansas Jayhawks.

On October 31, 1958, he married the love of his life, Sandra Kay 
Cooper, in Great Bend, KS.&nbsp; They shared over 64 years of marriage, 3 
children, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Bob is survived by:&nbsp; his wife, Sandra of Hutchinson; children, Dan 
(Mitzi) Harris of Flower Mound, TX, Kim (Joe) Horsch of Goddard, KS, and
 Shelly (Darren) Watson of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Josh Hoefler, 
Jordan (Vanessa Jones) Hoefler, Chloe Harris, Kylie (fiancé, Zach 
Norton) Horsch, Jake (Makala) Horsch, Madison Harris, Logan Watson, Sean
 Harris, and Lucas Watson; great-grandchildren, Kannon Hoefler, Kyler 
Hoefler, and Kolby Grace Hoefler; and siblings, Roger (Magda) Harris and
 Rita (Keith) Morgan, all of Abilene, TX.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, John and Thelma Harris.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 
Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Wayne DeWindt officiating.&nbsp; Friends may

Michael James “Woody” Woodrow, 68, of Lakin, died Nov. 10, 2022 in the Girard Medical Center in Girard.

Michael was born Sept. 8, 1954, in Great Bend, to Woodrow Wilson and Gladys Rosalie (McMullen) Woodrow. He grew up and attended schools in Great Bend. During high school, and the decades following, he played guitar and sang in numerous bands.&nbsp;

Michael married Nancy Maddox on Sept. 6, 1997, in Great Bend.&nbsp; She survives.&nbsp;

Michael worked with the clients at Sunflower Diversified Services in Great Bend from 1983 until he retired in 2013.

He enjoyed his family, playing guitar and singing in various bands, and working with the clients and staff at Sunflower Diversified.&nbsp;

Survivors include Nancy, of Larned, his sons, Adam Woodrow, Larned; Rostin Tammen, Rush Center; his daughter, Jenessa Tammen, Independence, Mo.; his sister, Meleah Frazer of Great Bend; his nieces, Melissa Malcom, Alisha Farmer, (Matt,) and Jenna Fanshier, (Ben) along with numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gary Woodrow, and his brother-in-law, Jim Frazer.

As were Michael’s wishes, his remains have been donated to the University of Kansas Medical Center for anatomical study.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

Logan, KS resident Michael Bruce Alberding passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022, at his home at the age of 81.

Bruce was born December 23, 1940, in Alva, Oklahoma, the son of Roy and
 Margaret (Good) Alberding.&nbsp; He attended Northwestern Oklahoma State 
University and earned a Masters Degree from Kansas State University.&nbsp; He
 was a teacher for many years

He was married in June of 1981 to Sarah Elizabeth (Sally) Combs in 
Julesburg, CO.&nbsp; The couple lived in Walsh, CO for six years before 
moving to Logan in 1989.&nbsp; They also lived in Linn, KS, Russell, KS and 
Lyons, KS during the 1990’s before a move back to Logan in 1996.&nbsp; Bruce 
enjoyed all sports, especially KU basketball, KState football and the 
Kansas City Chiefs.&nbsp; He oftentimes had three different sporting events 
going at the same time in his living room.&nbsp; In his early years, he was 
an avid hunter and always enjoyed the company of a four-legged friend, 
most recently his dog, Max.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sally in 2001 and brother Keith.

Survivors include son Michael Alberding of Albuquerque, NM; step-son 
Robert Eugene Wyels of Kansas City, KS; a sister Gayle Jackson and 
husband Tom of North Newton, KS and sister-in-law Judi Alberding of 
Paola, KS.

Cremation was planned. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan, Kansas.

Adrain Max "Dee" Desaire, 85, passed 
away Monday, November 7th, 2022, at the Robert J. Dole Medical Center. 
He was born October 30th, 1937, to George and Amy (Garringer) Desaire in
 Damar, Kansas.

Loving husband, father, grandfather 
&amp; friend. He served in the US Army and Air Force, was a retired 
truck driver, had worked in the oil fields and auto sales manager, song 
writer in his retirement years. Dee enjoyed karaoke, playing cards, 
writing songs &amp; poems and more than anything, teasing his numerous 
grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his 
parents; Sons: William Desaire and Kenneth George Desaire &amp; 
son-in-law, Joseph Gerhardt. Dee is survived by his wife of 15years, 
Twila Desaire; daughters: Christi (Gary) Wilson, Tammie (Gary) Fischer, 
Julie (Christopher) John, Melinda (James Manderson) Schoene; sons: David
 (Nancy) Desaire, Michael (Janet) Schoene; Sister: Phyllis Knipp of 
Dickinson, ND; brother: Larry (Betty) Desaire of Olathe, KS; 30 
Grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.

19, 2002, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Damar, KS. Inurnment will

Gregory Kent Ellis, 61, of Colby, died Monday, November 14, 2022, at 
Citizens Medical Center, Colby. 

He was born April 3, 1961, in Oakley, 
KS, to Larry and Donna (Wagy) Ellis. In his younger years, Greg worked 
for the Rainbow Drive-In before joining the City of Colby. In 1991, he 
began working at the City’s municipal power plant as an operator. Greg 
worked his way up to power plant superintendent and served in this 
position until his passing. In his free time, Greg enjoyed being 
outdoors, hunting, fishing, being around horses, riding dirt bikes and 
working on vehicles. He especially loved time spent with his children 
and family. 
Greg was preceded in death by his parents and son Dalton Ellis. 
He is survived by his wife Tonya Yonkey, of the home; son Paden (Morgan)
 Ellis, of Hoxie, KS; brother Mark Ellis; brothers-in-law, Gail Yonkey 
and Kale Yonkey; sister-in-law Linda Davison and numerous nieces, 
nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews.

     Clarissa Ann (Leiker) Augustine, 81, of Hays passed away at her home on Monday, Nov. 15, 2022.

    She was born May 3, 1941, in Hays to Edmund F. and Pearl (Kippes) Leiker.

Ann married Wayne J. Augustine on March 31, 1962, in Hays.  He preceded her in death on March 26, 2014. 

     She was a hairdresser in Hays for over 40 years and worked at Dillons in Topeka for 10 years.  Ann grew up in Hays, was a 1959 graduate of Hays High School and attended the Salina Cosmetology School.  She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  

     Survivors include her children, Don Augustine and wife, Kimberly, Russell; Darin Augustine and wife, Jill, Wichita; Dianne Lindeman and husband, Dean, Gilbert Ariz.; her grandchildren, Nick Augustine; Alexis, Tristan, Samatha, Aidan and Mallory Lindeman; and Chloe Augustine; her great-grandson, Bentley Augustine; her sisters, Hazel Roberts, Wheatland, Wyo.; Ruth Howard, Hutchinson; and Carol Zedaker, Wheatland, Wyo. 

     Ann was preceded in  death by her parents; her husband; her son, Keith Alan Augustine; her granddaughter, Taylor Elizabeth Augustine; and her twin great-granddaughters, Hadley and Presley Augustine.

     The memorial service will be in spring 2023, and the inurnment will be at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

David Allen New, 70, of Jennings, KS passed away November 10, 2022, at
 the Norton County Hospital with his loving wife by his side. He was 
born September 30, 1952, in Kentucky to David William and Mary Louise 
(Wilson) New.

In his youth, David moved to Florida and then years 
later his family moved to the Clayton and Jennings area. He owned the 
Broken Wheel in Jennings for years and most recently he worked at Ed’s 
Tire and Oil in Dresden. David married Donna Simmons on May 26, 2011, in 
Hoxie, KS. His proudest moment was when he and Donna adopted Brextyn 
after years of fostering him. His world revolved around Brextyn, he was 
so proud to be his father. They did everything together, from watching 
sports and westerns to collecting and polishing rocks. In his spare 
time, he also enjoyed going fishing.

David was preceded in death 
by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Donna; son Brextyn Chance 
New both of the home; daughters, Summer (Nathaniel) Natali and Megan 
(Shawn) Eissler all of Florida; three grandchildren; brother, Shane 
(Melissa) New of Jennings; sister, Shellie Franco, Clayton; his best 
friend, Greg Legree of North Carolina; nieces, nephews, and many other 
family and friends.

The family has followed David’s wishes and 
have chosen cremation.
