Isabelle Marie Staab was born on March 8, 1920, in Severin, Kansas, to 
Emil and Katherine Dinkle Schmeidler and died Friday, November 4, 2022. 
She was a wife, mother and homemaker. A longtime member of St. John the 
Apostle Church, St. John KS and most recently Sacred Heart Catholic 
Church, Pratt, KS. A devout Catholic, she was an active member of the 
Altar Society and served as an extra-ordinary minister of Holy Communion
 for 28 years. She married Seraphin Staab on September 16, 1940, at 
St. Severin Church in rural Ellis County, KS. He died April 18, 2004. 
Isabelle was a resident of Stafford, KS since 1942, when she and 
Seraphin moved there from Hays, KS. She moved to Pratt in August 2009. 
 She is survived by two sons: Jerry (Mary)Staab, Rose Hill, KS and Dean 
(Anita) Staab, Pratt, KS. Daughter, Diana (Scott)Schaeffer, Oklahoma 
City, OK. Daughter-in-law Donna Staab, Great Bend, KS, and family friend

Sister Donna Gottschalk, CSA, formerly Sister Philip, died peacefully
 November 2, 2022, at St. Francis Home, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

Donna
 Marie was born in La Crosse, Kansas, on May 6, 1940.  She was the first 
daughter after eight sons born to Philip Gottschalk and Lidwina Werth 
Gottschalk. Following Donna, three more boys and two girls made the 
family of fourteen complete. Donna spent her childhood keeping up with 
her brothers, doing farm and household chores, and learning very fast 
how to play baseball and football with the best. When Donna was six, the
 family moved to Hays, Kansas, to fulfill her parents’ desire for their 
children to have a Catholic education.  In grade school and high school,
 Donna was taught by the Sisters of St. Agnes.  From early on, she wanted
 to be just like the sisters. After high school, Donna, still undecided 
about pursuing her desire to be a sister, attended the College of Mount 
St. Scholastica in Atchison, Kansas, taught by the Sisters of St. 
Benedict. In 1959, after her first year of college, Donna made the 
decision to enter St. Agnes Convent. Even though she missed the wheat 
fields of Kansas and the life she shared with her family, her call to 
religious life beckoned her to Wisconsin and CSA.  She made her first 
profession of vows as Sister Philip in the Congregation of Sisters of 
St. Agnes on August 15, 1962, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

Sister
 Donna earned a BS in Elementary Education from Marian College, Fond du 
Lac, Wisconsin, in 1964.  Sister taught primary grades in Wisconsin, 
Pennsylvania and Kansas for thirty-one years. She loved teaching and 
working with children, and they loved her and filled her heart with many
 happy memories.  During her years as an educator, she enriched her 
teaching and religious education skills with several courses and 
seminars at Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas, and at Silver Lake 
College, Manitowoc, Wisconsin.

In 1993, Sister Donna 
retired from teaching. After a year of sabbatical in Rock Haven, 
Missouri, in 1994, she engaged in a variety of ministries including 
serving on the parish team of Sacred Heart Parish in Colby, Kansas, and 
cooking for the residents at St. John’s New Horizons Assisted Living, 
Hays, Kansas. In 1998, Sister Donna returned to Fond du Lac as an 
assistant to the Local Coordinators for the CSA retirement community at 
Nazareth Court and Center. She spent countless hours providing for the 
needs of the sisters, shopping for them, driving, baking, preparing 
special meals and filling the sisters’ days with her caring and 
attentive presence and support. In 2018, a serious illness caused Sister
 Donna to resign her position. Unable to serve the sisters as before, 
she herself became a resident at Nazareth Court and Center and later at 
St. Francis Home where she received loving care until the time of her 
death.

Throughout her life, Sister Donna cherished her 
life in CSA and her Kansas roots. Her love for life, for her CSA 
sisters, for her family and friends, for the wheat fields, for the smell
 of the land and for all creation remained strong as did her special 
hobbies of cooking, baking, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers.

Preceding
 Sister Donna in death were her parents; her brothers Father Andrew 
Gottschalk, OSB, Vernon, Ivan, Cecil, Philip, Floyd, Stephen; her sister
 Helen (Ron) Legleiter.

Sister is survived by her 
brothers Donald (Theresa), Leon, Father David, OFM, Cap., Andrew (Lena);
 her sister Raeann (Charles) Suppes; her sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Cecil)
 Gottschalk, Nita (Ivan) Gottschalk, Bernadette (Philip) Gottschalk; her
 devoted nieces and nephews, and the Sisters of St. Agnes with whom she 
lived, prayed, and ministered.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM Friday, November 11, 2022, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays with Fr. Nick Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hays.

Visitation will be held at Brock's-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory, 2509 Vine Street, Hays, KS, 67601 from 5:00 PM — 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 10, and from 9:00 AM—9:30 AM&nbsp;on Friday, November 11, 2022.&nbsp;

A Parish vigil and rosary service will be at 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral chapel.

Dawn Marie Brown, age 47, passed away November 2, 2022, at her home in
 Osborne, KS.  She was born February 25, 1975, in Osborne to L. Ellsworth
 and Vivian (Williams) Brown.  She was a waitress at many different 
restaurants.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Leonard and Gilbertta Brown, Ernest Williams and Fred and Clara Scheckel.

 include her parents L. Ellsworth and Vivian Brown of Osborne, KS;  
sister Dee (Brian) Goatley of El Dorado Springs, MO;   brother David 
(Rita) Brown of Chandler, AZ;   nieces and nephews Tyler, Connor &amp;

Bruce W. Day, 63, died Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Hays Medical Center, Hays.

He was born April 23, 1959, at Dodge City, the son of Bob and Betty 
(Gaul) Day.&nbsp; He was a lifetime area resident and worked in the family 
business, Day Sandblasting, for 30 years as well as farming.&nbsp; Bruce 
enjoyed the country and had lived on the family farm northeast of 
Cimarron for the past 10 years.&nbsp; He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his 
younger days and later in life enjoyed watching wildlife from his bay 
window.&nbsp; He loved family and was always willing to help his friends.

On February 14, 2006, he married Ginger Clanton at Cimarron.&nbsp; She survives.

Other survivors include: his daughter, Chloe Zielke and husband Shay,
 Dayton, Texas; his step-son, Jamie Pedigo and wife Andrea, Salina; and 
grandchildren Zachary Pedigo, Madison Pedigo, Arya Zielke and Alaric due
 in January 2023.

Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Maple
 Grove Cemetery, Dodge City, with David Johnson officiating.&nbsp; Visitation
 will be Monday from noon to 8:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge

Ed was born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, on June 15, 1936, a son of Ruth (Immel) and Leroy Herman Zimmerman.

He served in the United States Marine Corps and was a welder at ElDorado Bus and Kenison Inc.

 was a member of Salina USBC- Bowling, Salina Busch Pool League, 
American Legion Post 62, and was in the Demo Derby for 24 years.

Survivors
 include his daughter, Teresa Zimmerman-Dewitt, (Chuck) of Salina, 
Kansas; son, Ed Zimmerman Jr., (Kacey Johnston) of Stockton, Kansas; 
sister, Betty Dullebawn, of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania; and his significant
 other, Kathleen Nagely, of Salina, Kansas.

He is also 
survived by his grandchildren, Wayne Zimmerman, Kirtistan "Kris"

American Legion Post 62, and was in the Demo Derby for 24 years.Survivors
 include his daughter, Teresa Zimmerman-Dewitt, (Chuck) of Salina, 
Kansas; son, Ed Zimmerman Jr., (Kacey Johnston) of Stockton, Kansas; 
sister, Betty Dullebawn, of Mount Joy, Pennsylvania; and his significant
 other, Kathleen Nagely, of Salina, Kansas.He is also 
survived by his grandchildren, Wayne Zimmerman, Kirtistan "Kris" 
Zimmerman, Jordan Zimmerman, Collin Zimmerman; great grandchildren,

Ed M. Zimmerman Sr.

Carole Ann Bodine, 76, passed away on November 3, 2022, at Hutchinson
 Regional Health Systems, Hutchinson, Kan. She was born on September 27,
 1946, in Russell, Kan., to Gilbert and Marceline (Rajewski) Denning. On
 September 26, 1992, she married Norman Dale Bodine in Great Bend. He 
survives.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, Carole worked as a laborer for Great 
Bend Packing Plant prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Rose
 of Lima Catholic Church and Altar Society. Carole loved gardening, 
sewing, cooking, baking wedding cakes, and camping. She cherished time 
with her family and avidly watching NASCAR races.

Survivors include her husband of the home; three sons, Shawn (Mary) 
Gregg of Valentine, Neb., Shannon (Julie) Gregg of Great Bend, and Shane
 (Amy) Gregg of Hays; three stepsons, Richard Bodine of Great Bend, 
Steve (Toni) Bodine of the Kansas City area, and Robert (Anna) Bodine of
 Atlantic, Iowa; two stepdaughters, Kim (Jack) Koch of Garden City and 
Carrie Mantooth of Lawrence; two brothers, Clyde (Phyllis) Denning of 
Marysville and Alvin (Sara) Denning of Great Bend; twenty-four 
grandchildren; and twenty-nine great-grandchildren. She is preceded in 
death by her parents; a sister, Betty Haberman; and a great-grandson, 
Grayson Gregg.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place from Noon to 
8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, 2022, with Altar Society rosary at 4:00
 p.m., and family receiving guests from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Mass of 
Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 
2022, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.

Carole Ann Bodine

Pastor John David Clayton, of Wellington, KS, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at the age of 75.

John was born the son of Garnett and Pauline (Fowler) Clayton on February 3, 1947, in Anthony, KS.

On
 August 9, 1969, John and Sandra Mers were united in marriage in 
Bladenboro, NC. This year, they celebrated 53 wonderful years with each 
other. John was a man who loved the Lord Jesus Christ and served in full
 time Christian ministry throughout his entire adult life. John began in
 ministry by pastoring the Wellington Baptist Temple in Wellington, KS, 
for 9 years. He then answered the call to missionary ministry. John and 
Sandra served in France for 16 years, mainly in theological education, 
but also in various church planting and discipleship ministries. John’s 
Bible teaching also took him to other countries, including Romania, 
Haiti, Canada, Jordan, Mali, Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt. John’s focus in
 teaching was New Testament and Greek. He also taught across the 
theological disciplines. In his later ministry years, John’s work was 
first based in Kansas City, and then back in Wellington, for a second 
season as pastor of the Wellington Baptist Temple. Among his other 
interests were reading, gardening, and especially woodworking, antique 
tool collecting and furniture making. John enjoyed spending time with 
people from all walks of life and was a mentor to many.

Survivors 
include his wife, Sandra Clayton of Wellington, KS; his children: 
Rebekah Hyer of Wellington, KS, John Nathan Clayton and wife Maureen of 
Lake Forest, IL and Meredith Clayton and husband Rocky Supinger of 
Chicago, IL; grandchildren: John Christian Hyer of Hays, KS, Juliette 
Hyer of Chicago, IL, Gabriel Hyer of Wellington, KS, Elizabeth Clayton 
of Oxford, UK, Adam Clayton of Lake Forest, IL, Mary Clayton of Lake 
Forest, IL, Benji Clayton of Lake Forest, IL, and Laura Supinger of 
Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents and his eldest 
daughter, Rachel Clayton.

Pastor John David Clayton

Carrie Louise Stranathan was born April 5, 1963, in Hays, KS to 
Samuel E. and Helen E. (Schupbach) Stranathan.  She went to the Lord on 
October 20, 2022, after an eight month long battle with liver cancer. 

She
 is survived by her parents, a son Jeremy, in Las Vegas, NV; brothers 
Matthew (Pam) of  Gardner, KS and Thane (Rachel) of Montrose, CO;  She 
is further survived by four nephews, 3 nieces and one great nephew.  

Her elder brother, Todd preceded her in death in 1996.

Carrie’s
 early years were spent in Ft. Scott, KS where she was active in 4-H 
with sewing, cooking, and sheep projects.  Music was important to her, 
and she played piano, handbells, cello and baritone.  The family moved 
to Meeker, CO in 1977.  She graduated from Meeker HS in 1981.  Her HS 
class reunion this past summer was a very special time for her and much 
enjoyed.

Carrie was awarded her Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene
 in 1989.  She worked in Cortez, Co, Denver, CO and Denton, TX 
supporting herself and son Jeremy.  In the 1990’s she changed careers 
and moved into healthcare, working for Express scripts and Aerogas in 
Pueblo, CO.  She married Stephen L. Fessler in 2001, they divorced in 
2020.  A promotion at Aerogas prompted a move to Montrose, CO.  She was 
currently employed at Montrose Memorial Hospital at the Admissions Desk,
 a job she enjoyed very much.

Carrie was an exceptional seamstress and enjoyed counted x-stitch, making many beautiful items including angels for the family.

When
 she lived in Pueblo, she found a small church and a new friend.  
Together they sang and played pianos and helped with the choir.

Carrie’s
 path to the Lord was very difficult but sustained by her deep faith in 
Jesus.  She particularly responded to her many friends, classmates, and 
strong believers in her Lord.  Each and every one of you that held her 
hand, shared your time, your thoughts, and your voices with her were 
deeply appreciated.

Carrie will be remembered for her smile, her willingness to help and her abundant joy for life.

The family suggests gifts be make in Carrie’s name to the Meeker United Methodist Church, Box 26, Meeker, Colorado 81641.

James Lawrence Luedke was born the third of five children of Norman and 
Bonna Lea Luedke, on July 13, 1954, in Atwood, Kansas. He departed this 
life November 2, 2022, at the age of 68. 
James worked closely with his dad, Norman, in the family business, 
Luedke Construction. He is the only son that started working for the 
business from the time his dad started the business in 1968 until his 
father retired in 2008. James then went to work for Finley Ready-Mix 
until he retired in 2017. He had a great work ethic. He graduated from 
Atwood High School. He was a member of Atwood United Methodist Church. 
James loved following family sporting events, especially wrestling. He 
had a hearty laugh which will be missed by all who knew and loved him. 
He was known for saying “Family and friends are everything”. 
Preceding him in death were his parents, Norman and Bonna Lea, and a 
great nephew, Bear Luedke. Those remaining to celebrate his life are 
brothers, Dennis (Bernadette), and Dale, of Atwood, KS and Brian (Judy) 
of Colby, KS; sister Lisa (Jim) of Lakin, KS; Aunt Claudette and Uncle 
Gene Anderson, Colony, KS and nephews, nieces and other relatives and 
friends.

James Lawrence Luedke

Marvin Franklin Cloe, 76, of Colby, Kansas passed away on Saturday, 
October 29, 2022, at the Hays Medical Center after a courageous battle 
with cancer. 
He was born October 19, 1946, in Colby to the late Claude H. Cloe and 
Veta (Graham) Cloe. He graduated from Atwood High School in 1964 and 
later from Colby Community College with a degree in Criminal Justice. 
Marvin enlisted in the United States Army in 1965 and was sent to 
Vietnam. Upon returning he served in the Army National Guard where he 
was also sent to serve his country in Desert Storm. Marvin served a 
total of 37 years in the army and reserves. He served his community as a
 police officer in Colby for 11 years. He then worked for Williams 
Natural Gas and Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline where he retired. 
Marvin was a member of the United Methodist Church and volunteered for 
the Visitor’s Center in Colby. He was a special man, who was greatly 
loved and admired by his friends, family, and community. His 
friendliness and charm will be greatly missed. He loved his family, 
cats, community, and garden, which brought endless fruits and vegetables
 to everyone he knew. 
He is survived by his children, Tina (Kevin) Alford, Bradley “Scott” 
Cloe, Chase (fiancé Maggie) Cloe and Randi (Jarrod) Glissmann; five 
grandchildren, Justin (Taylor), Brandon (Ashley), Mason, Breahna and 
Sophie and 4 great-grandchildren, Ryder, Brayden, Vivienne, and Sutton. 
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Christopher, and his brother, Charles.

Marvin Franklin Cloe

Blaine Albert Baxter passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at 
the age of 78 in Stockton, Kansas. He was born on December 3, 1943, in 
Hays, Kansas, to Victor Reid and Ruth (Blauer) Baxter. He was united in 
marriage to Margaret Diana “Diane” Miller on March 20, 1970. The couple 
was blessed with five children: Cash, Jean, Matthew, Chauncey, and 
Michael.

Blaine was a lifetime resident of Stockton, 
Kansas, and graduated with the class of 1961. Blaine began working at the
 age of 15 for local electrician Dale Shelton.  Although starting 
out doing odd jobs for Dale, Blaine eventually learned the trade, which 
started a 50-year career in commercial, industrial, and agricultural 
electric work.

In addition to his career as an 
electrician, Blaine owned a hardware store with his father and a bait 
and tackle store with his wife. He was always proud to say that he was

Although
 Blaine was a hard worker, a trait that he instilled into all his 
children, he also liked to play hard. He was a known fisherman and loved
 the outdoors. In his youth you would find him on the river or exploring
 the fields around Stockton in search of an arrowhead. He loved to spend
 time at Webster Reservoir, Kirwin Reservoir, and Waconda Lake. Although
 he couldn't fish in his later years, he never declined a trip to the 
lake and loved to teach his grandchildren how to throw rocks in the 
water. When not at the lake, you could find him at the bait shop's back 
table in a game of five-point, cutthroat pitch with his friends and 
family.

Through his time at the bait shop, Blaine 
became a well-known member of the Stockton community. He was always 
happy to see customers and would quickly befriend any person who came 
in, whether it was a local or out-of-state hunter visiting for a 
weekend. In fact, many of Blaine's closest friends were frequent 
customers or hunters who made a yearly trip to Stockton.

He
 is survived by his wife, Diane Baxter of Stockton, KS; children, Cash 
Baxter of Stockton, KS, Jean (Mike) Rohr of Russell, KS, Matthew Baxter 
of Stockton, KS, Chauncey (Staci) Baxter of Salina, KS, and Michael 
(Jackie) Baxter of Hays, KS; brother, Steve (Cheryl) Baxter of Stockton,
 KS; and nine grandchildren, Aidan Rohr, Mason Rohr, Hailey Baxter, 
Dylan Baxter, Slayde Baxter, Jackson Tanner, Kynadee Tanner, Eli Baxter,
 and Lily Baxter.

Blaine is preceded in death by his parents, Victor Reid and Ruth Baxter; and brother, Rudy Baxter.

A
 Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on December 3, 2022, 2:00 PM

the age of 78 in Stockton, Kansas. He was born on December 3, 1943, in 
Hays, Kansas, to Victor Reid and Ruth (Blauer) Baxter. He was united in 
marriage to Margaret Diana “Diane” Miller on March 20, 1970. The couple 
was blessed with five children: Cash, Jean, Matthew, Chauncey, and 
Michael.Blaine was a lifetime resident of Stockton, 
Kansas, and graduated with the class of 1961. Blaine began working at the
 age of 15 for local electrician Dale Shelton. Although starting 
out doing odd jobs for Dale, Blaine eventually learned the trade, which 
started a 50-year career in commercial, industrial, and agricultural 
electric work.In addition to his career as an 
electrician, Blaine owned a hardware store with his father and a bait 
and tackle store with his wife. He was always proud to say that he was 
in business on Main Street Stockton for fifty years.Although

Blaine Albert Baxter

Dennis Dinkel, age 67, passed away on 
Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at the Wheatridge Park Care Center in 
Liberal, Kansas, surrounded by his children. He was born December 12, 
1954, in Hays, Kansas, to Leo and Odellia “Tillie” Schamberger Dinkel.&nbsp; 
He was an auto mechanic.

Dennis attended school in Gove County, graduating from Quinter High 
School in 1971.&nbsp;He was a member of the Catholic Church. He was a former 
member of the Knights of Columbus.

Dennis was a lifelong sports fan, watching every sporting event he 
could, particularly the KC Royals, KC Chiefs, and KU Basketball. He 
especially enjoyed taking his grandchildren to Disney World.&nbsp;

Survivors include four children, Rachel (Dinkel) See and husband 
David, Scott City, KS, Anthony Dinkel and wife Julia, Liberal, KS, 
Leatte (Dinkel) Helsel and husband Brandt, Liberal, KS; Michael Dinkel 
and his wife, Monica, Grand Island, NE, and eight grandchildren;&nbsp;Jax, 
Andrew, Allison, Courtney, Ella, Kenadi, Hazel, and little Logan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Steven Dinkel.

Robert Alan Dollison, 53, of Russell, Kansas, and formerly of Bullard,
 Texas, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022, at the Russell Regional 
Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Robert was born July 1, 1969, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of 
Charles L. and Marcia Ann (Mueller) Dollison.&nbsp; Grew up and graduated 
from Osborne High School in the Class of 1988.

Robert served his country in the U.S. Air Force as Security Police.&nbsp; After his tour of duty, he returned to Osborne.

Robert was in Law Enforcement for over 20 years working in Osborne, 
Lincoln, Kansas, and Ector County, Texas.&nbsp; The obtained his computer 
degree and work in the IT office of Judicial Systems Inc. in Texas.

Surviving family include his father, Charles Dollison (Thalia) of 
Tyler, Texas; brother, Bill Dollison (Amy) of Russell, Kansas; niece 
Bailey Dollison and nephew Cody Dollison (Ali).&nbsp; He was preceded in 
death by his mother.

A private burial of ashes will take place at a later date at American
 Heritage Cemetery, a Veterans Cemetery in Texas.&nbsp; Condolences may be

On Sunday, October 23rd, 2022, William "Bill" Getty passed away at the age of 89. He was born on March 18th, 1933, in Downs, Kansas, to William and Hazel (McStay) Getty. Bill graduated from Downs High School. He was a Marine and served in the Korean War.

On June 10, 1956, he married Audrey Bedient and together they raised one daughter, Lynne. Growing up, Bill played a variety of sports, from baseball with Osborne American Legion to being a member of the 1950 undefeated Downs High School basketball team. He even went on to be the assistant coach for the 1971 Logan High School state champions in basketball. Bill also loved to golf and spent many hours on the various golf courses in the area. He won many golf awards over the years. In his later years, Bill could be found with a never ending supply of Brach’s jelly beans and a steady rotation of true crime novels. Bill was preceded in death by his father William, his mother Hazel, his sisters Jeanne, Helen, Liz, and Elaine, as well as his wife Audrey. He is survived by his daughter Lynne Getty of Hendersonville NC, his sister Pat Steen of Ulysses KS, his brother Steven Getty of Ottawa KS, several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. No services are being held, as Bill would not have wanted any additional attention. Bonnie Lou Schartz, 90, passed away November 2, 2022, at Thorne Care 
Center-Wesley Towers, Hutchinson, KS.&nbsp; She was born June 3, 1932, in 
Russell, KS, the youngest child of eleven, to James Harbaugh and Bertha 
(Ringeisen) Harbaugh.

Bonnie was a 1950 graduate of Great Bend High School, Great Bend, KS.

On October 16, 1951, she married Aubrey Linus Schartz, in Ellinwood, 
KS.&nbsp; They shared over 62 years of marriage, prior to his death on 
September 14, 2014.

Bonnie is survived by:&nbsp; her children, Dennis (Berniece) Schartz of 
Enid, OK, Conan Schartz of Hutchinson, KS, Po Ellen (Larry) Anderson of 
Great Bend, KS, Jo Schartz of Hutchinson, KS, Glen (Debbie) Schartz of 
Hutchinson, KS, and Zeta (Stan) Boese of Hutchinson, KS; nine 
grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Bonnie Lou Schartz

Rosemary Walters Gerstner, 100, joined the legions of angels and saints 
on October 31, 2022. She was a devoted woman of faith as well as a 
sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and 
great-great-grandmother. 

Rosemary was born in the unincorporated town of
 Severin, Kansas, and grew up in Hays, Kansas, where she was raised with 
her 10 sisters and 1 brother. At the age of 10, Rosemary lost her mother
 and sister to ptomaine poisoning. Another sister succumbed to polio. 
She worked as a retail clerk at Weisner's Department Store to help with 
family finances and graduated from Girls Catholic High. She was married 
almost 60 years to the love of her life, Ernest Gerstner, when he passed
 in 2002. Together they raised four children, Miriam Wilson, Gregory, 
Linda Manning (Michael), and Debra Jones (Robert). Her 
half-brother, Ronald Walters and half-sister, Janet Gerstner will carry 
on the Walters family traditions. She also leaves eight grandchildren, 
Melissa Sims (John), Wanda Walters (James), Aaron and Joey Gerstner, 
Matthew (Chelsea) and Monica Manning, Rachel and John Jones; seven 
great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren to carry on her
 legacy of love and faith. In addition to her husband, 
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Monica Walters,
 her step-mother, Rose Walters, all of her sisters, brother, 
step-brother and step-sister. Rosemary's faith was most 
important to her. Rosemary attended St. Pius X Catholic Church in 
Conyers, GA, volunteering in the St. Cecilia Parish Choir, The 
Resurrection Choir (funeral choir), money counting, as well as aiding 
whenever called for last minute needs of the parish. Once her 
children were in school, Rosemary worked for Internal Revenue Service 
during the tax season, entering returns manually, until something better
 came along: computers. She then trained on punch cards (remember 
those?). She moved on to training new employees and writing a training 
manual. After retirement, Rosemary became a hospital volunteer at St. 
Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta, until she and Ernest moved to Conyers. She
 continued her hospital volunteer work for Rockdale Medical Center (now 
Piedmont Rockdale Hospital) for 19 years. While Rosemary saw 
and experienced a lot of changes over her 100 years, she left an 
indelible mark on her family, friends, and church. A Funeral 
Mass will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 10:30 am at St. Pius X 
Catholic Church with Father Juan Areiza as Celebrant; interment will 
follow at Peachtree Memorial Park in Norcross. Family will receive

Rosemary Walters Gerstner

Brandon Lee Leiker, 32, Hays, died Monday, October 31, 2022, in Rural Rush County.

He was born December 26, 1989, in Hays, 
the son of Paul and Cheryl (Dinkel) Leiker.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was a 2008 graduate of 
Hays High School and a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church 
in Munjor.&nbsp;&nbsp;Brandon loved being a lifelong farmer, and he farmed south 
of Munjor.&nbsp;&nbsp;From little on up, every chance he had, he would ride with 
his grandpa or his dad on the tractor.&nbsp;&nbsp;He especially loved harvest, was
 so proud when he could finally drive the combine by himself, and looked
 forward to the delicious food his mom would bring out to the 
field.&nbsp;&nbsp;Brandon loved playing cards with family and friends, going to 
auctions with his brothers, and spending time with his little sister 
Brittnee, whom he was very protective of.&nbsp;&nbsp;Brandon became an uncle in 
May of 2021 and his little nephew Jayden was his pride and joy.&nbsp;&nbsp;He 
loved to hang out with him every chance he got and always had the 
biggest smile when he was with him.

Survivors include his parents: Paul and
 Cheryl Leiker of Hays, maternal grandparents: Delmar Dinkel of Hays and
 Arlene Giebler and husband Ivan of Hays, two brothers: Jordan Leiker

 Francis Cemetery.&nbsp;&nbsp;Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 on Friday
 and from 9:00 am until 9:40 on Saturday, all at Hays Memorial Chapel

 </figure>Brandon Lee Leiker, 32, Hays, died Monday, October 31, 2022, in Rural Rush County.He was born December 26, 1989, in Hays, 
the son of Paul and Cheryl (Dinkel) Leiker.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was a 2008 graduate of 
Hays High School and a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church 
in Munjor.&nbsp;&nbsp;Brandon loved being a lifelong farmer, and he farmed south 
of Munjor.&nbsp;&nbsp;From little on up, every chance he had, he would ride with 
his grandpa or his dad on the tractor.&nbsp;&nbsp;He especially loved harvest, was
 so proud when he could finally drive the combine by himself, and looked
 forward to the delicious food his mom would bring out to the 
field.&nbsp;&nbsp;Brandon loved playing cards with family and friends, going to 
auctions with his brothers, and spending time with his little sister 
Brittnee, whom he was very protective of.&nbsp;&nbsp;Brandon became an uncle in 
May of 2021 and his little nephew Jayden was his pride and joy.&nbsp;&nbsp;He 
loved to hang out with him every chance he got and always had the 
biggest smile when he was with him.Survivors include his parents: Paul and

Brandon Lee Leiker

Long Island, KS resident Lila Riemann passed away on Saturday, 
October 29, 2022, peacefully at her residence with her children by her 
side.&nbsp; She was 89.

She was born April 14, 1933, in Jennings, KS the daughter of Harry and Bertha (Chandler) Wylie.

Lila was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters Janice Workman
 and Shirley White; her husband Duane Riemann; and a son-in-law Bill 
Alexander.

Survivors include her son Dallas Troutner and wife Bobbi of Fairbury,
 NE; two daughters Gayle Alexander of Almena, KS and Cynthia Hammond and
 husband Craig of Long Island, KS; 10 grandchildren; 7 great 
grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

Cremation was planned.&nbsp; A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Services, Inc.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Berta 
Beth Moss, 85, of Salina, Kansas. She passed on Tuesday, November 1st, 
2022, at her home in Salina, Kansas.

Berta was born in 
Beloit, Kansas on February 26, 1937, to Ethel O. (Margreiter) and Dwight
 A Timbers.  She was united in marriage to Dan Moss and together they 
had 3 children, Zan, Krista, and A.T.  Berta and Dan celebrated 66 years
 of marriage.

Berta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and 
great grandmother.  She and Dan loved to travel to visit family and 
friends and to spend time in many island destinations.  Her true love 
was to entertain by cooking and baking and sharing her meals with family
 and friends.   Her home was always a welcome and loving place to stay.

Survivors
 include her husband, Daniel "Dan" Moss; daughter, Krista Decker (Kurt),
 of Downs, Kansas; &nbsp;two sons, Daniel "Zan" Moss (Kerry), of Winnemucca, 
Nevada, Arden "A.T." Moss (Jodi), of Spring Creek, Nevada; 8 
grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and her sister, Bernita &nbsp;Eberle, 
of Glen Elder, Kansas.

She is preceded in death 
by her parents; siblings, Robert Timbers, Betty Timbers, Bernice Lilly, 
Roy Timbers, Bonnie Newell; &nbsp;brothers-in-law, Keith Lilly, Bob Eberle, 
Bill Newell; and sister-in-law, Dot Timbers.

Cremation 
has been chosen.  A memorial service will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, 
December 3, 2022, at First Baptist Church, 843 Lewis St., Salina, Kansas.

Berta Beth Moss

Candis Elaine Hale, 77, died Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at High Plains
 Retirement Village in Lakin, Kansas. She was born June 19, 1945, in 
Wichita, Kansas. 
 Candis attended schools in Wichita and Lebanon, Kansas and 
graduated in 1963 from Lakin Rural High School where she participated in
 band, choir, and cheerleading. She then attended Fort Hays State 
University. She married Stephen M. McCormick and they lived in Hays, 
Kingman, Emporia, and Lakin, Kansas. Candis later married Waldo W. Hale
 in February 1980. Candis worked for Jon Wheat, D.D.S., County 
Emporium, Kep’s Menswear, and for several years was a lead volunteer for
 Jeanne B. Corley Hospice in Garden City. Candis was also a longtime 
member of PEO Chapter FQ, the Lakin Booster Club, she always dressed as 
the Easter Bunny at Easter, and was extremely involved in Love Lights A 
Tree for the American Cancer Society. Her hobbies included decorating, 
reading, cooking, playing cards, and she loved to spend time with her 
family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. 
 Survivors include her husband Waldo W. Hale of the home; four 
children Shannon M. &amp; wife Kelley McCormick of Lakin, KS, Peter J. 
McCormick of Durango, CO, Jeff &amp; wife Pam Hale of Hickory, NC, and 
Sheri L. &amp; husband David Kvamme of Tallahassee, FL; a brother Kelly 
&amp; wife Jatrice Cowan of Cedaredge, CO; a sister Cathy &amp; husband 
Doug Flummerfelt of Shenandoah, IA; ten grandchildren Brittany 
Barnhardt, S. Brooke McCormick, Bode McCormick, Taylor Robert, Regan 
Hale, Ali Hale, Trey Hale, Jordan Kvamme, Madison Kvamme, &amp; Jeffrey 
Kvamme; and four great-grandchildren Sophia Kvamme, Parks Robert, 
Annabelle Barnhardt, &amp; Clay Barnhardt. Candis is preceded in death 
by her parents Hugh A. &amp; Geraldine (Maib) Cowan and three 
great-grandchildren. 
 A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November
 5, 2022, at the Lakin Cemetery in Lakin, Kansas with Rev. Rita Stockton
