Carrol Lynn Walker, 89, passed away December 10, 2022, at Country Living Home Plus in Larned, KS.

She was born April 9, 1933, in Larned, the daughter of Raymond Edward
 and Florence Blanche Smith Johnson. Carrol was raised in Larned and 
received her undergraduate and graduate degrees in education and home 
economics at Fort Hays State College. On February 6, 1955, she married 
Duane Lee Walker in Larned, KS. After Duane joined the Navy, they were 
stationed in New Mexico, Washington State, California and Texas. 
Teaching was her first love and she taught in every place they lived. 
Carrol taught students from grade school to adults while raising her 
four children. They returned to Kansas in 1974 where she taught in the 
Hays school system, and then became the Director of Special Education in
 Stafford County. Carrol and Duane retired and moved back to Larned in 
1995.

She volunteered at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital Auxiliary and 
Santa Fe Trail Center, both in Larned. Carrol loved plants and 
transformed many gardens in her life.

Survivors include: two sons, David B. Walker (Cathy Comstock), Gig 
Harbor, WA, and Mark L. (Dani) Walker, Spotsylvania, VA; daughter, 
Judith Walker, Hays; two sisters, Rhonda Cooley, Fort Collins, CO, and 
Donnis Miller Shipley, Hutchinson; nine grandchildren and eleven great 
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; a daughter, Susan Michelle Walker; and a sister, Laurel Johnson.

Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Beckwith 
Mortuary Chapel, Larned.&nbsp; Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. 
Wednesday at the mortuary with family present from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.&nbsp; 
Burial will be the Larned Cemetery, Larned, KS.

Karen Otte, 85, passed away December 11, 2022, at Harry Hynes Hospice, Wichita, Kansas.

She was born February 3, 1937, in Ellsworth, Kansas, the daughter of Benton Ezra and Margaret I. Remley Rice.

A lifetime Larned resident, she was a farmwife and member of the 
First Presbyterian Church, Larned. She was a member of the Red Hat 
Ladies, Gem Gals, Pawnee County 4-H, Santa Fe Trail Center, Wet Dry 
Routes Chapter and past 4-H cooking leader. She loved taking mystery 
trips with the Heritage Tours, square dancing in her younger days, 
playing cards and dominoes with her friends and family, and was an avid 
reader. In her lifetime she served in many capacities at the church, 
volunteered at the Food Pantry and helped with the monthly birthday 
parties at Diversicare.

On September 16, 1956, she married Dale Otte in Great Bend, Kansas; he passed away on October 17, 2014.

Survivors include: two daughters, Lori (Rick) Blakesley, Hutchinson, 
Kim (Steve) Gevara, Larned; sister-in-law Lois Schimmels, Clinton, 
Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth (Matt) Fisher, Matthew (Janae) 
Finger, Jacob (Kat) Finger, Audree (Adrian) Senestraro, Emile (Dylan) 
Frantz, Tanner (Claire) Blakesley, and Bryce (Madison) Gevara; Thirteen 
great grandchildren, Jenna Fisher, Sarah Fisher, Grace Fisher, Emmet 
Fisher, Caden Finger, Jayce Finger, Kaysen Finger, Isabel Finger, 
Maddison Senestraro, Maia Senestraro, Maddex Frantz, Brynley Frantz and 
Avery Blakesley; and her beloved cat, Sophie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, daughter Jennifer Finger and sister Judy A. Kirby.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 2022, at 
the First Presbyterian Church, Larned, with Pastor Dennis Scheibmeier

Karen Fern Otte

Gordon R.&nbsp;Garrett, 67, of Russell, Kansas, went home to be&nbsp;with the Lord on Sunday, November 13, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas.

Gordon was born March 23, 1955, in&nbsp;Ellsworth,&nbsp;Kansas. &nbsp;He was the son of&nbsp;Duane A. and Joan L. (Kaufman) Garrett. &nbsp;He grew up in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in the Class of 1973. &nbsp;Gordon only missed one day of school from K&nbsp;–&nbsp;12.&nbsp;&nbsp;He then attended Colby Junior College where he played baseball&nbsp;and then&nbsp;attended Fort Hays&nbsp;State University&nbsp;where he obtained a&nbsp;Bachelor&nbsp;degree in Athletic Training. &nbsp;He then&nbsp;obtained a Master’s Degree in&nbsp;Sports Administration&nbsp;from Western&nbsp;Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois.&nbsp;After school, he moved to San Antonio where he remained to his passing.

Gordon was&nbsp;an Athletic Trainer/Teacher at&nbsp;Alamo Heights&nbsp;High School in San Antonio&nbsp;for over 35 years.

Gordon&nbsp;was united in marriage to Elsa Trevino. &nbsp;They made their home in San Antonio. &nbsp;He enjoyed motorcycle riding, helping friends and being involved with&nbsp;sports.&nbsp;He was an inspiration and touched many lives not only in the school district, but in everyone he met. &nbsp;He was a man of true grit, spirit, love and great determination.&nbsp;&nbsp;Gordon&nbsp;was injured in a motorcycle accident while returning home from school in April 2017. &nbsp;He was left paralyzed and spent many months in rehabilitation centers where he was an inspiration to patients and staff.

Gordon’s surviving family include his wife Elsa Garrett of the home; children, Kristin Schulte of Winfield,&nbsp;Alabama, Justin&nbsp;Garrett&nbsp;(Mandi) of San Diego, California and Jordan Garrett of San Antonio, Texas; step children, Jessica Morales (Jose) and Joshua Coronado (Megan); mother, Joan Weigel (Fred) of Russell, Kansas;&nbsp;brothers, Blaine Garrett (Janet) of&nbsp;Castle&nbsp;Rock,&nbsp;Colorado:&nbsp;sister, Diann&nbsp;Goodyear (Kenneth) of&nbsp;Manhattan, Kansas; step brother, Leon Weigel of Russell, Kansas; six grandchildren, Logan, Porter, Lexen, Sofia, Catalina and&nbsp;Julian.

Gordon was preceded in death by his father, Duane Garrett; grandparents, George and Eva&nbsp;Kaufman and Adam and Chloie Garrett.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 17, 2022, at Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell. &nbsp;Burial of Ashes will follow at the Dorrance City Cemetery. &nbsp;

Born in Downs, Kansas, November 2, 1952. Her parents, Alvin and Eileen 
Otte, were wheat farmers continuing in the tradition of Alvin’s family. 
Carol’s older siblings Linda and Ken, and younger sister Jan, moved to 
Salina, Kansas, in 1961. If you had asked Carol, this is where she grew 
up. She lived in Salina until she was 29. 
Along with her first husband Carol gave birth to her first daughter, 
Cari Anne, on March 14, 1972. With the help of her Mom, Carol returned 
to work at the investment firm IDS. For recreation Carol and Cari 
enjoyed motorcycle touring with her Mom and Dad, and other family 
members. (Her last bike was a full-dress, shaft-drive Honda CX-500 that 
had been modified by her Dad for one of his bi-annual Arctic Circle 
motorcycle trips.) 
Carol’s younger sister Jan, living in Lawrence, Kansas, set up a 
blind-date for Carol with someone Jan’s husband played with on a 
recreational softball team. That was May 9, 1981. Jeff Sanders was her 
date’s name. They were married just 4 months later on August 14, 1981. 
Several weeks after they were married, Carol moved to Olathe, Kansas 
where Jeff was employed. 
Carol gave birth to her second daughter, Arla June, on August 13, 1982. 
(This was one day short of their 1st Wedding Anniversary.) 
Carol was employed at Grinsted Products while residing in Olathe. In 
1991, Carol and Jeff agreed to a relocation because of Jeff’s work that 
took their family to Mt. Juliet, TN, just outside of Nashville. Cari 
chose to stay in Olathe to begin her own family with David Morgan. 
Carol enjoyed working at Mt. Juliet Chiropractic for the next 11 years. 
From 2002 to 2006 life meandered from Tennessee, to Kentucky, and then 
to New Hampshire in March 2006. They remained there until their 
retirement in July 2016. Retirement led them to again relocate, but this
 time it was not because of work. Instead the purpose of this move was 
to be near kids and grandkids. This brought Carol absolute joy! 
Starting in Tennessee Carol advanced her crafting skills, especially 
making Christmas cards for her daughters and herself using an 
ever-expanding collection of Stampin’ Up stamp sets. Not only was she 
really, really good at this, but enjoyed this as her 2nd favorite 
pastime, next to her grandkids and great-granddaughter! She delivered 
most of this year’s set of cards the day before she passed away. 
Carol is survived by: Her loving husband for 41 ½ years Robert Jeffrey 
(Jeff) Sanders, residing in Fortson, GA daughter Cari Anne Morgan, and 
husband David, residing in Fortson, Georgia, granddaughter Bailee Eileen
 Walsh, her husband Andrew great-granddaughter Elsie James Walsh 
granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Morgan grandson Adam James Morgan 
granddaughter Jillian May Morgan and Daughter Arla June Bell, and 
husband Jeffrey, residing in Seaford, Virginia granddaughter Lily Grace 
Bell and grandson Garrett Edward Bell; her sister Linda Struchen, and 
husband Don, residing in Marion, Iowa and her brother Kendall Otte, and 
wife Dixie, residing in Osage Beach, Missouri and sister Jan Henry, 
residing in Lawrence, Kansas.

Leona M. Graham, 92, of Salina, passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022.

Leona was born on April 10, 1930, to Frank and Agnes (Herrman) Klaus in Liebenthal, KS.

She moved to Salina in 1950 to go to Brown Mackie College. She met 
and married Wilbert J. (Bill) Graham on June 26, 1951. Bill precedes her
 in death.

Leona first worked for KSAL radio. She then was self-employed working
 from home rebuilding and refurbishing furniture while her family was 
young. After her daughters were grown, she worked for St. John’s 
Military School and later St. John’s Hospital/Salina Regional Health 
Center where she retired in 2006.

Leona was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and avid golfer and
 taught/coached junior golf at the Elks Country Club for many years. She
 loved the game until her health no longer allowed her to play.

She is survived by two daughters Tari Piskac (John) Manhattan KS, 
Diane Jayne (Ron Dawson) Salina KS., and three grandchildren, Steve 
Wilson (Juli) Salina KS, Taegan Jayne, Salina KS, Tish Schneider (Evan) 
Kdena, Okinawa, Japan. One great grandchild Finley Wilson, Salina KS.

A private family memorial service will be held.

Thomas C. “Tom” Gatschet, 96, Hays, died Friday, December 9, 2022, at Via Christi Village.

He was born August 30, 1926, in Hays, 
the son of George W. and Agnes L. (Brull) Gatschet.&nbsp; In 1944, Tom 
graduated from St. Joseph’s Military Academy and in 1950 from Fort Hays 
State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education.&nbsp; In August
 1948, he was united in marriage to Irene Satterlee, and they later 
divorced.&nbsp; In February 1974, he married Neva (Bell) Haerich, and they 
later divorced. &nbsp;Tom was an instructor of band, jazz band, and orchestra
 teaching at St. Joseph’s Military Academy and the Hays and Denver 
Public Schools.&nbsp; While living in Hays and Denver, he played in several 
dance bands.&nbsp; He earned his pilot’s license and was an executive officer
 with the Hays Civil Air Patrol and a private pilot. &nbsp;His memberships 
included St. Joseph Catholic Church, the St. Joseph Third Degree Knights
 of Columbus Council #1325, and the Bishop Cunningham Fourth Degree 
Assembly #282.

Survivors include his three sons: Tim 
Gatschet of Andover, Steve Gatschet and wife Lisa of Franktown, CO, and 
Mike Gatschet and wife Dianne of Lakewood, CO, a daughter: Anne Luke of 
Wichita, a son-in-law: Tracy McLaughlin of Seattle, WA, two brothers: 
Paul Gatschet and wife Carolyn and George Gatschet, both of Hays, 11 
grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his 
parents, a daughter: Sarah McLaughlin, a brother: Francis Gatschet, a 
sister: Jean Winter, and a great granddaughter: Kelli Gatschet.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 
10:00 am on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 
with Fr. Fred Gatschet and Fr. Richard Daise officiating.&nbsp; Burial will 
follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. &nbsp;Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 
8:00 on Friday and from 9:00 am until 9:45 on Saturday, all at Hays 
Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.&nbsp; The Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus 
will stand honor guard from 6:00 pm until 7:00, a vigil service will be 
at 7:00, followed by a combined Third and Fourth Degree Knights of 
Columbus rosary, all on Friday at the funeral home.&nbsp;

Leroy G. Gottschalk, age 86, of Hays, Kansas, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2022, at Ascension Living Via Christi Village of Hays.&nbsp;

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, December 16, 2022, at Saint Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, 2901 E. 13th, in Hays. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

Carole Ruby Dunn, 86, longtime resident of Ogallala, NE, passed away Wednesday, December 7th, 2022, in North Platte, NE.

Carole was born June 25th, 1936, in Ogallala to Herb and Mary Davison. She attended Ogallala Public Schools, graduating in 1954.

On
 May 29th, 1954, she married Melvin W. Dunn in Ogallala, where they lived
 for many years before moving to their home in the country. She was 
employed at TRW, in real estate sales, and several local retail 
businesses before retiring.

Carole was a master seamstress, sewing
 clothing, Christmas pajamas, and quilts and rugs for all the family. 
She also enjoyed gardening and taking drives around the lake. She loved 
having all of her grandkids and great grandkids running around the farm.
 Carole will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.&nbsp;

Carole
 is survived by a son Melvin R. Dunn (Barb) of St. Francis, KS. Three 
daughters, Beth Hansmeier (Lonne), Laura Rivas (Luis), and Shiela 
Apolius all of Ogallala. A sister, Karen Green, of Ogallala, a brother 
Herbie Davison (Sunnee) of Lincoln, NE; fourteen grandchildren, Amber 
Faulkender (Tye) of St. Francis KS., Mandy Hovis of Plainville, KS., 
Dustin Dunn (Amber) of Wray, CO., Kelsey Dunn (Robert) of St Francis, 
KS., Zac Fornander (Nicki) of Sidney, NE., Molly Koehn (Kent) of 
Gothenburg, NE., Leon Hansmeier (Amanda) of Lincoln, NE., Martin Rivas 
(Neva) of Ogallala, Jeromy Rivas (Rene) of Sterling, CO.,&nbsp; Eric Rivas of

Tate James Martin, 17, died tragically of wounds suffered in a vehicle 
accident on Dec. 7th, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS. 

Born on 
June 26th, 2005, in Hutchinson, KS to parents Casey and Michele (Booze) 
Martin, he was a lifetime Ellinwood resident and current Junior at 
Ellinwood High. Additionally, Tate worked&nbsp;alongside his father and 
enjoyed farm work. Tate loved to hunt, fish&nbsp;and spent any free time with
 friends and family. He was greatly loved by all those who knew him. 

Tate was very involved with the Ellinwood Energizers 4H Club and FFA 
Ellinwood HS Chapter and will be missed at these organizations.&nbsp;&nbsp; 
He leaves behind parents Casey and Michele Martin; brother, Levi&nbsp;Martin;
 sisters, Haleigh Martin and Elizabeth Martin; grandparents, Steve and 
Terry Martin and Randy and Vickie Booze; and numerous aunts, uncles 
and&nbsp;cousins. Tate was preceded in death by his great-grandparents and 
uncle Bob Booze.&nbsp; 
Memorial service will take place Wed., Dec. 14th, 2:00 PM at First

(Larry) Lillibridge of Manhattan, and Roger (Janice) Mallory of Duncan, 
OK.; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild and many nieces and

Aaron Fletcher Kraft, 71, passed away on December 9, 2022, at Grisell Memorial Hospital in Ransom, Kansas.&nbsp; He was born on April 30, 
1951, in Cozad, Nebraska, the son of Harry and Eva (Griffis) Kraft.

Aaron was the manager of an oil reclaiming plant. He was member of 
the United Methodist Church in Utica. He was a member of the NRA.&nbsp; He 
married Candyce Smith on December 22, 1979, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Candyce Kraft of Ransom; 2 sons, Faron 
(Samantha) Kraft of Hoisington, Brannon (Marissa) Kraft of Houston, TX; 2
 daughters, Ashley (Chad) Stephenson of Little River, Vanessa (Tony) 
Gall of Ness City; brother, Samuel Kraft of Libby, MT; 3 sisters, Ruthie
 (Bert) Luallan of Liberal, Barb Moler of Grand Island,NE, Susan Para 
also of Grand Island, NE; and 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death

Aaron Fletcher Kraft

Barbara Ann McDonald, 82, passed away on December 10, 2022, at the 
Cedar Village Care Center in Ness City, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on 
December 4, 1940, on the family farm in Ness County, Kansas, the daughter 
of William and Barbara (Braun) Deiser.

Barbara was a LPN where she worked as a nurse at the Ransom Nursing 
Home and Clinic until her retirement at the age of 70. She was a member 
of St. Aloysius Church and Altar Society in Ransom. She married Joseph 
McDonald on February 4, 1961, in Ness City, Kansas. He passed away on 
November 27, 2010.

Survivors include her son, William McDonald of Ransom; 2 daughters, 
Cynthia (Steve) Maier of Brownell, Debra Hamilton of Ness City; 
son-in-law, Alan Mishler of Hollister, MO; sister, Ida LeTourneau of 
Black, AL; 16 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren. She was 
preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph McDonald; daughter, 
Susan McDonald-Mishler; grandson, T.J. Hellerud; 3 brothers, Eugene, 
William, Alban Deiser; and 4 sisters, Mary Deiser, Leoba Kinney, Hedwig 
Stegman, and Hilda Deiser.

David Mesa Gonzalez, 61, passed away on December 8, 2022, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, surrounded by his daughter and 2
 granddaughters. He was born on April 7, 1961, in Fort Stockton, Texas,&nbsp; the son of Gilberto and Rosela (Vasquez) Vasquez.

David graduated in 1979 from Del Rio High School. He loved music. He 
was in a band in his younger days. He worked for Lockhart for many years
 and then for Paragon Geophysical Services from January 2020 until 
present. He loved being a mechanic. Woodworking was his passion. He 
enjoyed being outside, watching his shows, NASCAR, golf and football 
with his family. He was a hard worker. He enjoyed his time with his 
grandkids. He was over all a loving and caring son, father, grandpa, and
 friend. He married Susie Richardson in 2004. She passed away in 2013.

Survivors include his mother, Rosela M. Vasquez, his sister Cindy 
Vasquez, and brother, Joey Vasquez, all of Del Rio, TX; 2 daughters 
Shanaya (Charlie) Hoopman of Ness City, Casandra Hoopman of Ashland, WI;
 3 sons, David “Tony” (Lynn) Hoopman of Proctor, MN, Jason (Denise) 
Richardson of Ness City, Travis (Becky) Richardson of Oklahoma City, OK;
 his grandkids, Lizzy, Tanner, Xoe, Tucker, Aurora, Kinley, Josephine,

Bradley Roughton, 27, died December 7, 2022.&nbsp; He was born in Salina on October 2, 1995, to Kristina Reasner and Brent Moses.

Bradley grew up in Concordia, KS with his grandparents Mary and 
Richard Roughton. Later moving to Hays, KS where he met the love of his
 life Alicia Johnson. They moved to Fort Collins where they had many 
happy years together. Bradley loved exercising, hiking and all 
animals.&nbsp; He touched many lives and was loved by everyone.

He is survived by his partner, Alicia; mother and stepfather, 
Kristina and David Reasner; grandparents, Mary and Richard Roughton; two
 sisters, Ashley Luther and Chelise Rich; aunts, Kathy (Shane) Bartlett 
and Karen (J.R.) Parks; and two cousins, Jeremy (Kaytie) Roughton and 
Jay (Trish) Bartlett.

Bradley was preceded by his brother, Brandon Moses.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. with family present from 5-7 p.m. on

He was born April 14, 1947, in Kensington, KS the son of Richard and Clara (Gremmel) Diercks.&nbsp;

Garen was united in marriage to Cathy Ann Baetz on June 9, 1974, in at the St. John Lutheran Church in Kensington, KS.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife Cathy of the home; son Brian and wife 
Sarah of Hoxie, KS; daughters Stephanie Lowther and husband Richie of 
Tecumseh, NE and Amanda Riesberg and husband Kyle of Carroll, IA; 12 
grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; siblings Dalyn and wife Carole, 
Wesley and wife Linda, Jeanette Stevens, and Carolyn Mott all of Agra, 
KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren Adam and

Richard Lee and Verle Louise (Tevis) Cain.

Penny&nbsp;was united in marriage to&nbsp;David Anderson until his passing in 
2016. She&nbsp;worked as a&nbsp;CNA at both The Manor and Trego Hospital. She also
 worked as a cosmetologist and a licensed day care provider. Penny was a
 member of the WaKeeney Eagle’s Lodge, and&nbsp;enjoyed crocheting, online 
shopping, camping, and most of all spending time with her children and 
grandchildren.

Penny&nbsp;is survived by&nbsp;her son Jeffrey Brown (fiancé Roxy Ellis) of 
WaKeeney, Kansas; grandchildren Trenton Brown, Makala Brown, Kassi 
Brown, and Abby Brown; sister Twila Jo (Scott) Leake; nephew Keith 
Leake; niece Carol (Derrick) Crandall; many great-nieces, great-nephews,
 and other family and friends.

Penny&nbsp;was preceded in death by both parents;&nbsp;her husband David; son

Maxine (Keller) Berry was born November 3, 1922, at Page City, Kansas, to
 Oliver and Irene (Waldmeier) Keller, the eighth of eleven children. She
 had four brothers; Leo, Clinton, John and Walter and six sisters; Verna
 Wright, Eleanor, Letha Huntley, Sylvia Tate, Goldie and Freda Mason. 
All who are deceased. 
Maxine completed 12 years schooling at Page City then earned a Bachelor 
of Science degree from Fort Hays State University. She spent 36 years 
working and learning with delightful Kansas elementary and Jr. high 
students in Abilene, Wakeeney, Monument, Page City and Winona. Maxine 
retired in 1986 due to her husband's health. 
Maxine married Victor Berry on August 15, 1948. They built a home south 
of Page City and raised two sons, Mark and Milan. She enjoyed the good 
country life with Vic for 42 years. After Vic's death in 1990 she 
continued living on the farm. She spent her remaining years traveling, 
visiting family, doing various home and community projects and, with hoe
 in hand, spent hours enjoying God's wonderous works of nature. Maxine 
stayed on her beloved farm until three months before her death at age 
100, on December 9, 2022. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; husband; son Milan 
and two grandchildren, Mariah Berry Soderlund and Brandon Cyler Berry. 
She is survived by son Mark (Mildred Williams); daughter-in-law Deanna 
Ward Berry; grandson Clayton Berry (Maegan Horton) and their children 
Sadie, Jax, Jessa and Hadley; grandson Cade Berry and grandson-in-law 
Kevin Soderlund and his children Gage and Dallas Soderlund (Mariah's 
stepchildren). 
There will be a graveside farewell at the Winona Cemetery on Saturday

 Beverly was 
born July 8, 1961, to James Elbert and Rosa Lea (Trail) Farber in Hoxie,
 Kansas.  She graduated from Hays High School in Hays, Kansas, in 1979, 
and entered the workforce.  Beverly married her first husband, Mike, and
 welcomed their son Ryan in 1983.  In 1986, she married Rick and in 1987 
they welcomed their daughter Misty Dawn. 

 Beverly married Nick Heim on 
May 30, 1992, in Hoxie, Kansas and welcomed their son Mathew in 1994.  
Nick and Beverly raised their children in Hoxie, and enjoyed watching 
each of them participate in sports and school activities.  While the 
kids were younger, Nick and Beverly loved hosting barbecues with close 
friends and family at their home.  Beverly always enjoyed working within
 the community and connecting with those around her.  Many remember her 
as a special education paraeducator and cook for the Hoxie School 
System, cashier at Reds, and cashier at Joslyn’s Food Center.  Later in 
life, Beverly loved to spend her time doing crossword puzzles, coloring 
books, lottery tickets, and drinking cherry Pepsi.  More than anything, 
though, she enjoyed spending time with her family, her dog Lily, and her
 grandchildren.  Most will remember Beverly for her loving smile, kind 
personality, willingness to help, her perfectly decorated Christmas 
tree, and her honesty.

Beverly is survived by her 
husband, Nick Heim of Hoxie, Kansas; daughter, Misty Stewart of Hoxie, 
Kansas; sons Ryan Bellew and wife Kerri of North Platte, Nebraska, and 
Mathew Heim and wife Brooke of Hoxie, Kansas; brothers, Jeff Farber and 
wife Gloria of Hastings, Nebraska; Lance Fabrizius and wife Heather of 
Independence, Kansas; and Luke Fabrizius and wife Anne of Wichita, 
Kansas; mother, Rosa Lea Fabrizius of Wakeeney, Kansas; grandchildren, 
Maddie Custer, Avery Barnes, Brayden Stewart, Kasyn Stewart, Hudson 
Heim, Jayden Kruse, Brooklyn Deibert, and many friends and extended 
family.

She is proceeded in death by her father, James Elbert Farber; husband, Rick Farber; and sister, Barbara Farber.

A
 funeral service is planned for Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at 10:30 
A.M. at the Hoxie Christian Church in Hoxie, Kansas.  Immediately 
following the service, interment will take place at the St. Frances 
Cabrini Cemetery, Hoxie, Kansas.  A visitation will be held Monday, 
December 12, 2022, from 1:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., with family receiving
 friends from 5:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

 suggested to the Sheridan County Health Complex Long Term Care Unit, 
Sheridan County Benefit Walk, or the Hoxie Christian Church, and may be

Beverly Jo (Farber) Heim

Rhonda Miller, 60, died Sunday, December 4, 2022, at her home in Garden 
City, Kansas. She was born September 10, 1962, in Hays, Kansas, the 
daughter of Carroll &amp; Donna (Russell) Knoll. 
 Rhonda and her family lived in Hays and Salina, before moving to 
Garden City in the late 1960s where she attended Garden City schools 
and graduated from Garden City High School in 1981. A homemaker, Rhonda
 also worked for several years as a secretary. She enjoyed spending her
 time fishing, reading her Bible, watching religious shows on TV, 
writing in her journal, and playing dice games. Rhonda was very 
athletic and excelled in swimming. She also loved to spend her time 
with her family and decorating for family events. 
 On March 16, 1990, she married Tim Miller in Salina, Kansas. He 
survives. Other survivors include three children Christina Hernandez of
 Garden City, KS, Tiffany &amp; husband Josh Purvis of Bonner Springs, 
KS, and Amber Miller of Overland Park, KS; a stepson Brandon Miller of 
Syracuse, KS; a sister Jeris &amp; husband Brian Newcomer of Wildwood, 
MO; her twin brother Richard &amp; wife Janet Knoll of Woodland Park, 
CO; ten grandchildren; and ten nieces and nephews. Rhonda is preceded 
in death by her parents. 
 A Celebration of Rhonda’s life was held at the Seventh Day 
Adventist Church in Garden City. Burial will take place at a later date
 at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas. There will be no 
calling hours.

 The family suggests memorials given to St. Dominic 
Catholic Church or to the Seventh Day Adventist Church, both in care of

Rhonda Miller

Scott David Conklin Sr., 62, died December 8, 2022, surrounded by 
his family at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born February 17, 1960, 
in Hutchinson, to Stuart “Joe” Frazier and Mary Ann (Kaaz) Conklin.&nbsp;

Scott graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1978 and Kansas 
University with a Bachelors of Business Administration. He grew up 
working in the family business, Conklin Cars, started by his 
grandfather.

After graduating from KU, he returned to Hutchinson to work in the 
family business alongside his father and brothers, becoming a partner in
 1982. On July 23, 1983, Scott married Kathryn Meeks of Kirkwood (St. 
Louis), MO. They enjoyed 39 years of marriage.

Scott became the “face” of Conklin Cars around 2005, taking over the 
advertising after his father passed away, though never becoming 
comfortable with the attention that brought. He served in various ways 
in the community, most recently serving on the board of the Hutchinson 
YMCA. While the family had a dealership location in Kansas City, MO, he 
served as president on MainCor, a revitalization and economic 
development board in the area. Gardening was a passion of Scott’s; he 
loved all kinds of plants and landscaping. Scott was an active member of
 Grace Bible Church, Hutchinson, where he led the ministry of Grace for 
Orphans. The church was where he most desired to serve due to his strong
 faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.&nbsp;

Scott is survived by: his wife, Kathryn “Kathy” Conklin of 
Hutchinson; children and grandchildren, Sarah Lill (Jeremy) and their 
children, Genevieve and Kate of Lawrence, KS, Mary Hoover (Tony) and 
their children, Emme and Penelope of Hutchinson, Scott Conklin, Jr. 
(Paige) and their children, Scott David III, Eloise, Josephine, and 
Arthur of Hutchinson; and Ann Conklin of Bentonville, AR; mother, Mary 
Ann Conklin of Hutchinson; siblings, Stuart F. Conklin (Fran) of 
Hutchinson, Steven A. Conklin of Watertown, WI, and Susan Fangman (Joe) 
of Houston, TX; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless friends.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Stuart “Joe” Conklin, Jr.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Grace Bible Church, 1221 E. 33rd,
 Hutchinson.&nbsp; Private family burial will take place following the 
service in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 
9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, with the family present
