Nathan Carl Emmons, age 44,&nbsp;of Colby, Kansas, passed away&nbsp;on&nbsp;Friday, February 24, 2023,&nbsp;at &nbsp;Hays Medical Center after an extended illness.&nbsp;Nathan was born September 1, 1978, in Colby, Kansas, the son of Joseph W. Emmons and Marsha&nbsp;(Den)&nbsp;Berens.

He grew up in Colby,&nbsp;Lawrence, and Wasilla, Alaska.&nbsp;He graduated in 1997 from Colony High School in Wasilla, Alaska.&nbsp;

Nathan loved to travel, meet people, and explore new foods and taste sensations.&nbsp;He was quick to make friends, family, and even strangers laugh.&nbsp;Nathan enjoyed watching college and professional sports.&nbsp;He also loved movies of all kinds, but especially science-fiction, noir, and horror.&nbsp;Nathan was not afraid of hard work, and worked mainly in maintenance, construction, and landscaping.

Nathan is survived by his mother, Marsha Berens, Colby, KS;&nbsp;his&nbsp;father and stepmother, Joseph and Trish Emmons, Taos, NM;&nbsp;his&nbsp;stepsister,&nbsp;Erin Shaw (Jason), Decorah, IA; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.&nbsp;

Nathan was predeceased by his grandparents;&nbsp;Perry and Esther Emmons; and Ralph and Helen Den;his brother, Justin;&nbsp;and stepfather,&nbsp;Gary Berens.

A private&nbsp;family&nbsp;inurnment will be&nbsp;held&nbsp;at a later date.&nbsp;

Brian Lee Garza, 43, of Hutchinson, died February 23, 2023, as a 
result of a traffic accident near Haven. He was born March 31, 1979, in 
Satanta, to Caroline Garza.

Brian graduated from Hugoton High School in 1998 and attended HVAC 
trade school. He was a technician at Cheney Door Company. Brian loved 
being outdoors, going to the lake, and taking photos of sunsets, stars, 
and nature. He also enjoyed fixing things and doing home repairs, 
playing scratch tickets, and making people laugh. Above all, Brian loved
 spending time with his children.

He is survived by: his children, Trey Fink of Lawrence and Chloe 
Robinson of Garden City; mother, Caroline Garza of Hutchinson; 
companion, Cheyenne Gates of Hutchinson; and many extended family 
members.

Brian was preceded in death by: his brother, Marcos Garza; 
grandparents, Jose and Lidia Garza; uncles, Jose L. Garza, Carlos Garza,
 Elias Garza; and aunt, Shirley Hernandez.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Brian’s life will be held
 at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Riverside Baptist Church, 1100 
W. 21st Ave., Hutchinson. The service will be livestreamed on the church’s Facebook page.

Brian Lee Garza

Glenn Allen Miller, 92, passed away February 24, 2023, at Keepsake 
Kottage in Wichita. He was born July 7, 1930, in Great Bend, to Clarence
 M. &amp; Alverta J. (Gaunt) Miller. Glenn graduated from Great Bend 
High School in 1948. After graduation and turning 18, he enlisted in the
 United States Army and served in the Korean Conflict. His military 
service was later celebrated when he participated in an Honors Flight to
 Washington, D.C. After his honorable discharge in 1952, he returned to 
Great Bend and continued his career at Miller Printers as printer until 
his retirement.

He married Patricia Ann Ratliff of Larned, Kansas, on August 23, 
1951, when they eloped to Clayton, New Mexico. They were married for 58 
years until her death on December 31, 2009.

A lifetime Great Bend resident, having recently moved to Wichita, 
Glenn was a member of the Christian faith, American Legion, Kiwanis Club
 and past member of the V.F.W. Post #3111 and the Great Bend Cemetery 
Board. Glenn greatly enjoyed time spent with friends and family and took
 great pride in having a pristine lawn.

Survivors include, his son, Scott Miller of Harrison, Ark.; his 
daughter, Julie Straub and husband Larry of Andover, Kansas; four 
grandchildren, Christopher Hagler and wife Tracy of Kansas City, Mo., 
Vanessa Jeroue of St. George, Utah, Hillary Straub of Durham, North 
Carolina and Brantley Straub of Wichita, Kansas; seven 
great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and his brother, 
Richard Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, 
Patricia Miller; a daughter, Valerie Miller; two brothers, Carlos Miller
 and Merle Miller; and a sister, Rena Mae Miller.

Visitation will be held from Noon to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, 
2023, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 6:00 
to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March
 2, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home, with Reverend Dick Ogle presiding. 
Interment will be in the Great Bend Cemetery, with Military Rites

Pamela "Pam" Yvette Bracy, 69, passed away 
peacefully February 20, 2023. She was born on August 14, 1953, in 
Woodston, Kansas, to Warren and Janeva Jones, who both preceded her 
death.

Pam was the oldest of four siblings, which undoubtedly led to her 
hard-working, nurturing, and selfless personality. She was rarely still,
 and spent her life making sure that those around her were happy and 
taken care of.

In 2016, Pam retired from the Internal Revenue Service where she spent
 her entire career. Being the first one in her family to attend college 
and earn a degree, she was very proud of the accomplishments that she 
had made, but at the same time humble enough to never broadcast them.

Pam’s passion for life was infectious. She had a quick wit and a 
great sense of humor that always put people at ease and made friends 
everywhere she went. She loved spending time with her family and friends
 and was always up for a game of pool or a shopping trip.

Pam will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her kindness and 
generosity touched the lives of many. Pam is survived by her daughter 
Danica Bracy, and siblings Tammy Jones, Jerry Jones and Fred Jones.

Shelly Beth Shelton, 71, returned home to the heavenly Father and 
took her place once again by her husband on February 23, 2023, in 
Salina. She was born on April 28, 1951, to Ivan S. &amp; Betty (Eastes) 
Freeman. She married her one true love, Douglas Shelton on January 16, 
1970, in Great Bend. He died October 17, 2014.

A long time Great Bend resident, Shelly was the office manager of 
Farley Machine Works until her retirement in 2014 to be by Doug’s side 
during his illness. She also had previously worked for Sunflower 
Diversified Services and Tomlinson Oil Company. Family and her love for 
them were most important to her. Next was her love for animals. Shelly 
always had a houseful and room for more.

Survivors include her son, Jason Shelton and wife Jenny, of Stafford;
 her daughter, Tasha Di Loreto and husband, Dan, of Salina; seven 
grandchildren, Austin McGinnes of Hutchinson, Jarod Shelton of Stafford,
 Jena Shelton of Stafford, McKenzie Green of Wichita, Lexus Di Loreto of
 Salina, Trista Shelton of Stafford and Danny Di Loreto of Salina; and 
four great-grandchildren, Jensyn and Caisyn Smith, Aidyn McGinnes, and 
Hadley Green, with another great-grandchild on the way. Also surviving 
her are her sisters-in-law, Melody Cell, Rhonda Shelton, and Sharon 
Wondra, and husband Harold, all of Great Bend and Michelle Shelton of 
Salina; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in 
death by her parents; and her husband, Doug Shelton.

Lenora Mae (Boese) Stelter of Plainville, KS, passed away on 
February 23, 2023, at her home in Plainville. She was born on November 
14, 1933, to Walter and Minnie (Krug) Boese in Alexander, KS. She 
married Ralph Stelter on July 13, 1952. They were blessed with three 
daughters: Pam, Carol, and Kim.

Lenora grew up in 
Alexander and graduated from Alexander High School in 1951. She was a 
homemaker and kept busy raising three daughters. She enjoyed traveling 
all 50 states and going on many cruises.&nbsp;She also attended auctions for 
hours as she was a collector of many things. She loved spending time 
with her family and entertaining them – or them entertaining her! There 
were TikTok’s with her grandkids and she even danced for her kids once. 
She loved playing games –&nbsp;Pinochle, Bingo, and Pictionary were amongst 
her favorites. Lenora was a member of the First Lutheran Church.

Lenora Mae (Boese) Stelter

Leona Helen Boor, 89, Hays, died Thursday, February 23, 2023, at her home.

She was born September 24, 1933, in 
Hoxie, the daughter of William and Louise (Gaede) Rall.&nbsp;&nbsp;Leona graduated
 from Hoxie High School, and on October 8, 1951, she was united in 
marriage to Harold G. Boor in Grinnell.&nbsp;&nbsp;They celebrated 63 years of 
marriage before he preceded her in death on January 25, 2015.&nbsp;&nbsp;Leona was
 a devout member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church where she 
served as a Eucharistic Minister, helped with funeral dinners, and was a
 Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Adorer. &nbsp;She was also a member&nbsp;of 
Christian Mothers, Daughters of Isabella Circle #254, and the Extension 
Homemakers Unit.&nbsp;&nbsp;Leona was employed at Travenol and St. John’s Nursing 
Home, and a volunteer worker at the Community Assistance Center. &nbsp;She 
was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, and enjoyed sewing, 
gardening, and crafting.

Survivors include two sons: Doug Boor 
and wife Joyce of Hutchinson, Stan Boor and wife Cindy of Hays, two 
daughters: Cheryl Grabbe and husband Richard of Overland Park, Missy 
Gollhofer and husband Phil of Fort Worth, TX, two brothers: Kurt and

marriage to Harold G. Boor in Grinnell.&nbsp;&nbsp;They celebrated 63 years of 
marriage before he preceded her in death on January 25, 2015.&nbsp;&nbsp;Leona was
 a devout member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church where she 
served as a Eucharistic Minister, helped with funeral dinners, and was a
 Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration Adorer. &nbsp;She was also a member&nbsp;of 
Christian Mothers, Daughters of Isabella Circle #254, and the Extension 
Homemakers Unit.&nbsp;&nbsp;Leona was employed at Travenol and St. John’s Nursing 
Home, and a volunteer worker at the Community Assistance Center. &nbsp;She 
was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, and enjoyed sewing, 
gardening, and crafting.Survivors include two sons: Doug Boor 
and wife Joyce of Hutchinson, Stan Boor and wife Cindy of Hays, two 
daughters: Cheryl Grabbe and husband Richard of Overland Park, Missy 
Gollhofer and husband Phil of Fort Worth, TX, two brothers: Kurt and

Leona Helen Boor

Marvin Barnett, 82, of Gem, KS, died Wednesday, February 22, 2023. He 
was a Husband, Father, Grandfather, Farmer, Rancher and serial 
Entrepreneur. But first and foremost, Marvin loved the Lord. 
Marvin was born on January 12, 1941, to Ralph and Velma Barnett on their
 family’s farm north of Gem, KS, where he grew up with his older 
brother, Ron, and his younger brother, Bill. Their parents taught the 
boys the value of hard work, and how to work on a farm. 
But Marvin was also mischievous, such as the time he watched a movie 
about Mohicans, after which he gave himself a reverse Mohawk haircut and
 shaved his eyebrows, the day before grade school pictures. 
Marvin graduated from Colby High School, Colby, KS, in 1959, where he 
played football and was active in plays. He loved riding horses. 
Colby High is where he met the love of his life, Alberta Schielke 
“Topper," whom he married shortly after graduation, and with whom he had
 two strong, smart and successful daughters. 
Marvin attended Kansas State University, considering the study of 
veterinary medicine. So, Marvin and Topper moved to Manhattan. But his 
business and traveling spirit took him on another path. 
Shortly after Kansas State, Marvin owned and managed gas stations, first
 in Atwood, KS and then in downtown Wichita. He also attended trade 
school and earned an associate degree in drafting. 
While Marvin and Topper were in Wichita in the 1960’s, Marvin began to 
work for the Pinkerton Detective Agency. As part of this job, Marvin 
occasionally worked with Vern Miller, the Sedgwick County Sheriff, who 
eventually became the Kansas Attorney General. He also worked as a store
 detective for G.E.M., in Wichita and Wichita Falls, TX. 
Marvin went back into business, as a salesman for Speed King, selling 
agricultural related equipment, beginning in Dodge City, but eventually 
Marvin and Topper went to Georgia. Marvin loved sales. In his sales 
career, Marvin sold all over the Midwestern and Eastern U.S., plus 
across Canada. For example, he called on a Georgia farm, run by Billy 
and Jimmy Carter, who eventually became the U.S. President. 
Marvin was hired away by Kraus Manufacturing, again in agricultural sales, and was transferred to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. 
Marvin was lured back to Kansas by R &amp; R Manufacturing, in Pratt, 
KS, where he became the general manager of its manufacturing operations.
 While in Pratt, Marvin started farming again and had a hog operation. 
In the early 1980’s, Marvin’s brother Bill decided to begin a full-time 
Christian ministry, so Marvin and Topper moved back to Gem, to take over
 the family farm. Marvin was a very successful farmer. 
But Marvin still had his business spirits. Marvin and Topper started an 
over the road trucking company, M &amp; A Barnett Trucking, Co. The 
company eventually had multiple trucks, running over the road, coast to 
coast, all operated out of a converted garage north of Gem. Marvin and 
topper eventually sold the trucking company and for the last few years 
have been retired from farming, enjoying watching their daughters become
 strong professional women, and their grandson become an engineer. 
Marvin was predeceased by his father Ralph Woodrow Barnett; his mother, 
Velma Florene (Schiffer) Barnett; and his brother Ralph William Barnett. 
He is survived by his wife, Alberta Clara (Schielke) Barnett and brother
 Ronald Ray Barnett (Norma), of Eaton, CO. He is also survived by his 
daughter, Debra Lee Barnett (William Woolley), of Wichita; daughter, 
Deanna Louise Barnett (Tom Short), of Dodge City; Deb and William’s son;
 Tom’s children; and foster daughter, Kim Fiedler (Bill), of Lansing, 
KS.

Marvin Lee Barnett

Jeffery D. Munz, age 68 of Great Bend, Kansas, passed away at his 
home in Great Bend on Wednesday afternoon, February 22, 2023.&nbsp; Jeffery 
was born on March 30, 1954 at St. John, Kansas to Karl and Ruby 
(Lambert) Munz.&nbsp; 

He served in the U.S. Army, and received his Bachelor’s
 Degree in Accounting from the University of Kansas and his Master’s 
Degree in Accounting from the University of Missouri – Kansas City.&nbsp; He 
moved to Great Bend in 1983 from Westport, Kansas City, Missouri and 
worked as Accountant for Lee Turner and Turner Farms in Great Bend, and 
Dechant &amp; Taylor Chartered Accounting in La Crosse, Kansas, prior to 
his retirement in 2016.&nbsp; Jeffery enjoyed traveling and taking 
photographs, hunting, gardening, carpentry, and loved to play Bridge.&nbsp; 
He was an avid K.U. Jayhawks Basketball fan.

Survivors include one son, Samuel (&amp; Tayler) Munz of Wamego, 
Kansas and one daughter, Lucy K.M. Munz of Essex, Vermont; two 
grandchildren:&nbsp; James and Madeline Munz; his partner Janet Oberle of 
Salina, Kansas; two brothers:&nbsp; Juan (&amp; Belinda) Munz of St. John, 
Kansas and Rev. Jerry (&amp; Joyce) Munz of Lakeland, Florida; one 
sister Jodine (&amp; Douglas) Trout of Osceola, Missouri; one 
brother-in-law Chuck Theel of Olathe, Kansas; nine nieces and nephews, 
many great-nieces and great-nephews, and countless friends.&nbsp; Jeffery was
 preceded in death by his parents and one sister Julie Theel.

According to his wishes, cremation has been chosen and a Memorial 
Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at the First
 Congregational Church in Great Bend with Reverend Mike Munz 
officiating.&nbsp; Inurnment will follow at Trinity Cemetery near Hudson, 
Kansas. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, March 3,

A lifelong resident of Kanorado, Rickie Lee Windell went to his Heavenly Home February 22, 2023, at the age of 74.

Rickie was born April 17, 1948, in Goodland.&nbsp; He was the oldest of 
three sons born to Lester Andrew Windell and Naomi Ruth Mangus.

He attended school in Kanorado K-12.&nbsp; He graduated Kanorado High in 
1966 and joined the National Guard and attended FHSU for one semester.&nbsp; 
He returned home to do what he loved, farming.&nbsp; He was blessed to farm 
with his dad Les, and later his two brothers Mike and Rob.

He married Victoria Ann Denton on June 28, 1968.&nbsp; Out of this union 
God blessed them with three daughters.&nbsp; Rickie was a loving husband and 
dad.&nbsp; We cherish all the memories.

He was able to continue farming with his son-in-law Lee and grandsons
 with the idea of retiring next year, or next year, or the next.&nbsp; True 
farmers never retire.

Rickie enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.&nbsp; He was a born again
 Christian and loved to tell others about Jesus.&nbsp; He was generous and 
kind and was always ready to lend a helping hand or a smile to someone 
in need.&nbsp; He is celebrating his eternal life with Jesus, and for that we
 are rejoicing!&nbsp; We will miss him!

Donna Rae Crist passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at the Phillips County Hospital, Phillipsburg, at the age of 85.

She was born on October 10, 1937, in Belleville, KS the daughter of Clarence A. “Abbie” and Fannie (Bates) Williams.

On October 10, 1953, in Phillipsburg, KS, she was united in marriage 
to Garth Junior Crist.&nbsp; The couple was blessed with two sons, Mark and 
Daniel “D.C."

Donna was a homemaker.&nbsp; She and Garth could be found most evenings 
watching the world pass by at the square in Phillipsburg.&nbsp; She was known
 as a jokester to friends and family and was always looking for a way to
 put a smile on your face.&nbsp; Her grandchildren were her greatest pride 
and joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Wayne, Dennis, 
Bob, and Norman Williams; sister Nancy Banks; and her husband Garth in 
1996.

Survivors include her sons Mark and wife JoAnn of McPherson and D.C. 
and wife Pam of Phillipsburg; 5 grandchildren: Renee Anderson and 
husband Mark, Erica Matyak and husband Luke, Travis Crist and wife 
Megan, Lucas Crist and wife Addie, and Tanner Crist and fiancé Rylea 
Rains; 5 great grandchildren; sister Catherine Derowitsch of Belleville,
 KS; and 3 sisters-in-law Alma Williams of Sedgwick, KS, Virginia 
Williams of Belleville, KS, and Carol Williams of Derby, KS.

Those that knew Donna, knew her faith in God was abundant, and her 
memory will be carried on through her children, grandchildren,

Douglas Dean Zimmerman of Fairbury, NE was born August 7, 1951, in 
Omaha, NE.&nbsp; His parents were Willie &amp; Laraine (Meyer) Zimmerman of 
Fairbury.&nbsp; He was baptized November 25, 1951, and confirmed April 11, 
1965, at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairbury where he was a lifelong 
member.

Doug grew up on a farm a few miles east of Fairbury attending 
District 63 and graduating from Fairbury High School with the class of 
1969.&nbsp; As a youth, he played little league baseball during the summers. 
He was active in 4-H &amp; FFA.&nbsp; In high school he was on the football 
and track teams.&nbsp; He enlisted in the National Guard in 1969.&nbsp; He left 
the guard in 1976.&nbsp;

Doug married JoAnn Ahrens on May 6, 1972.&nbsp; This union was blessed 
with the birth of 2 children, Korinne &amp; Riley.&nbsp; They were married 
for 50 years.

He began his farming career at the age of 9, helping with the daily 
farming and chores.&nbsp; He farmed for 48 years before moving in to town in 
2008.&nbsp; After moving to Fairbury he worked at the Thies Sandpit for 3 
years.

Doug enjoyed spending time outside hunting, fishing &amp; pistol 
shooting.&nbsp; He belonged to the Practical Pistol Association shoot out of 
Lincoln &amp; Omaha for many years.&nbsp; He was a history buff &amp; 
collected prehistoric rocks, bones, teeth &amp; tusks.&nbsp; He was always 
happy to give a quick history lesson to anyone.

Much enjoyment came from cars &amp; drag racing.&nbsp; He started racing 
in 1970 at Manhattan, KS and continued there until the track closed in 
2019. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix from a combine to a lawn 
mower. He was the owner of Doug’s Automotive for 20+ years, selling high
 performance car parts from his garage.&nbsp;

He loved spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.&nbsp;

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Willie &amp; Laraine 
Zimmerman and father-in-law &amp; mother-in-law Herbert &amp; Wauneta 
Ahrens.

He is survived by his wife JoAnn, daughter Korinne Zimmerman of 
Lincoln, son Riley (Krystal) Zimmerman of Phillipsburg, KS,

Valerie Lynn Faris, 61, of Oberlin, KS passed away February 20, 2023,&nbsp; at the KU Medical Center. She was born September 9, 1961, in Oklahoma 
City, OK to Claude and Ina (Scott) Pierce.

Valerie grew up in 
Oberlin and attended the Oberlin Elementary and Decatur Community High 
Schools. She married Roy Faris on February 16, 1991, in Oberlin. Valerie 
was the owner of The Re-Load Bar and Grill in Oberlin. She enjoyed her 
bowling leagues, darts leagues, and playing bingo. Valerie also enjoyed 
the public and ran the concession stand at the fair for several years.

Valerie
 was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy and sister, Wanda 
Farr. She is survived by her children: Yolanda (Jack) Cogburn of 
Glenwood, AR, Bruce King of Oberlin, KS, Megan Faris (AJ) of Manhattan, 
KS and Jessica (Ben) Lemmons of Manhattan, KS; siblings: Rhonda (Mick) 
Barth of Oberlin, KS, and Mitchell (Rhonda) Pickett of Glenwood, AR; 
partner; Jerry Stein; brother-in-law, Stann Hartzog of Jennings; half

Valerie Lynn Faris

David Charles Shirk, age 69, of Johnson, Kansas, died Tuesday, February 
21, 2023, at The Ranch House in Garden City, Kansas. He was born on 
February 8, 1954, in Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Clement Miles and 
Leona Margaret (Wilkerson) Shirk. 
David grew up in Friend, Kansas, and graduated with the class of 1972 in
 Scott City. He then attended Garden City Community College for two 
years and then served in the ROTC. He continued his education at 
Panhandle State University and received a bachelor’s degree in Ag 
Business with a minor in History.

Following graduation, David worked at
 Goertzen Seed Research (a wheat research facility) as a foreman in 
Scott City; where he met his future bride. He married Elizabeth K. 
Stiles on November 29, 1980, in Friend. David and Elizabeth moved their 
family to Johnson in 1986. Through many mergers and acquisitions, he 
was the District Sales Manager for Triumph Seed Co., Northup King, 
Novartis, Garst, Syngenta Seeds, GoldenHarvest and Golden Acre seed 
brands. During this time he was inducted into the Honorary Sales 
Council. He retired at the age of 62. David and Elizabeth had the 
opportunity to take an Alaskan Cruise in August 2018, which he 
thoroughly enjoyed. He also loved nature, being outdoors, camping, 
hunting, star gazing, and spending time in the mountains. 
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth of their home; children, Mandy 
Adams and husband Tyson of Johnson, Nicholas C. Shirk of Garden City, 
and Myles C. Shirk of Liberal; brother, Layne C. Shirk and wife Barbara 
of Great Bend; sister, Karen A. Shirk of Garden City; and four 
grandchildren, Colton Adams, Addison Shirk, Kennedy Shirk and Harper 
Shirk. 
David is preceded in death by his father, Clement Shirk; mother and 
step-father, Leona and Glenn Cleveland; and brother, Robert Shirk. 
Funeral service will be Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 10:00 AM at First
 United Methodist Church in Johnson with Pastor Mary Courtney 
officiating. Interment will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery.

Ronald W. Quillin was born August 18, 1940, in Osborne, Kansas, the 
first of three children to Wayne and Marie Quillin.&nbsp; He died February 3,
 2023, at Mitchell County Health Care Systems in Beloit, Kansas, at the 
age of 82 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.&nbsp;

Ron graduated from Osborne High School, first attending Fort Hays 
State and then Kansas State University.&nbsp; It was in Manhattan where he 
met his future wife, Consuelo (Connie) Saenz.&nbsp; They were married in 1966
 with there being some good-natured disagreement as to whether that 
occurred in El Paso, Texas, on January 18th as told by Ron or Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, in the bride’s family church on January 23rd as
 preferred by Connie.&nbsp; None-the-less, they celebrated 57 years together 
and to that union were born two daughters, Marie and Jo Ann.&nbsp;

Ron ultimately earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Rockhurst 
University in Kansas City where he worked several years as an insurance 
adjuster.&nbsp; The young family moved to Beloit in the early 1970s where Ron
 managed Peoples Lumber Yard in Beloit and later operated his own small 
business, “Mitre Box”.&nbsp;&nbsp; Known widely as a skilled woodworker, Ron not 
only built customized cabinetry but also shared his knowledge and love 
for the craft by teaching evening courses in the 1980s at NCK Technical 
College.&nbsp; Community-minded, Ron was active in Beloit Rotary and never 
shy about volunteering his services when repairs were needed at St. 
John’s Catholic Church.&nbsp;&nbsp; He further enjoyed morning coffee, playing 
golf, and going fishing with his friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Ron is survived by his wife, Connie, of Beloit; daughters Marie 
(Al) Duhon of Lyons, and Jo Ann (Craig) Tomson of Wichita; grandsons 
Trent Jackson of Salina and Zayden Tomson of Wichita; and sisters Connie
 (John) Cyr of Beloit, and Dawna Quillin of Idaho Springs, Colorado.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Frank Lynn Bean, 72, died unexpectedly February 20, 2023. He was 
born July 14, 1950, in Hutchinson, to Frank Buford and Betty Berniece 
(Gennetten) Bean.&nbsp;

Frank graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1969, Hutchinson 
Community Junior College in 1971, Pittsburg State University in 1973, 
and received his Master’s Degree from Emporia State University in 1975.&nbsp;
 Frank was a passionate coach who lived and breathed coaching.&nbsp; He 
enjoyed all types of sports, but helping athletes excel in football was 
his favorite.&nbsp; Above all, Frank loved his family unconditionally.&nbsp;

Frank’s coaching career started June 1978 when he was the assistant 
football coach at San Francisco State University, until January 1982.&nbsp; 
He continued coaching in various locations and for multiple teams in the
 USFL, Los Angeles, CA, and at Hutchinson High School.&nbsp; Frank then began
 his coaching career at Garden City Community College and Garden City 
High School.&nbsp; While coaching at Garden City High School, he was 
fortunate to coach his two sons, Mitchell and Braden.&nbsp; Frank ended his 
coaching career at Wichita East High School and Kapaun Mt. Carmel High 
School, Wichita.

Frank grew up at First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson, and was 
currently attending Trinity United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.&nbsp; He had
 a strong faith, and a stronger sense of humor.

Frank is survived by:&nbsp; daughter, Ashlee (Jose) Guillen of Hutchinson;
 sons, Mitchell Bean of Fayetteville, AR, and Braden Bean of Austin, TX;
 children’s mother, Rebecca Martinez of New Braunfels, TX; his mother, 
Betty Bean of Lawrence; sisters, Sharie (Dave) Mueller of Oskaloosa, KS,
 and Cindy (James) Nelson of St. Paul, MN.; and five grandchildren,

Perry Clingingsmith, 66, of Oak Ridge, Mo., unexpectedly passed away Monday, February 20, 2023, at his home.

He was born April 24, 1956, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., to Adrian and Mary Dell Lang Clingingsmith.  He and Carlene Dick were married May 24, 1979, in Nashville, Tennessee.  To their union, Carlene brought her daughter, Rachael, and together they had two more daughters, Ashley, and Deidra.

Perry was a 1974 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. His first job was hauling hay for his uncle, the late William Lang. His employment included Spartec, Dana, and Golden Cat. With over 15 years of service, he retired from Unilever as an ammonia specialist.

Perry was a devoted husband, dad, and pawpaw, and his family thoroughly enjoyed him. He loved to fish and was a master of many trades. He had the patience of Job and liked to invent and fabricate anything and everything, especially if it was for his daughters or grandchildren.

He was a member of Zion Methodist Church in Old Appleton, fulfilling multiple obligations and serving as a lay speaker.

To cherish his memory, Perry leaves his wife of nearly 44 years, Carlene Clingingsmith of Oak Ridge; two daughters, Rachael (Don) Larsen of West Plains, Missouri and Deidra (Zachary) Ruesler of Oak Ridge; former son-in-law, Drew Howard of Jackson; a brother, Alan (Glenna) Clingingsmith of Hays, Kansas; and grandchildren, Brock Larsen of West Point, New York; Carlaena Hornbuckle and Autumn Howard of Jackson; Chase Larsen of West Plains; Landon and Addilyn Burnett, and Adrian Ruesler of Oak Ridge.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ashley Clingingsmith, and his parents.

The Rev. Brian Anderson will conduct the funeral service at 11 a.m., Friday, February 24, 2023, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Interment will follow at Zion Methodist Cemetery in Old Appleton.

Michael Edward “Mike” Crawford, 68, passed away on February 22, 2023,
 at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. He was born on April 5, 1954, in 
McAlester, Oklahoma, to Earl and Joy (Pendley) Crawford. On October 25, 
1986, he married Nancy Keeler in Great Bend, Kansas. She survives.

A resident of Great Bend for over 40 years, Mike spent his career as 
Superintendent of the Street Department for the City of Great Bend. He 
was a member of the NRA, and enjoyed hunting, motorcycles, watching 
sports, and coaching his children’s teams, specifically softball.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Anthony and Alex 
Crawford, both of Great Bend; a daughter, Emily Crawford (Mike Beagle) 
of Great Bend; two grandchildren, Jayden Crawford and Maddie Beagle; 
mother, Joy White of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and two brothers, Stan 
(Laura) Crawford of St. Joseph, Missouri, and David (Rhonda) Crawford of
 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by his father; 
stepfather, Bob White; and an infant sister, Anita Kay.

Visitation will take place Sunday, February 26, 2023, from noon to 
8:00 p.m., with family receiving guests from noon to 2:00 p.m. at Bryant
 Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, 
February 27, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Vandenburg 
presiding. Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery North.

 have been designated to the American Cancer Society or Golden Belt

Michael Edward 'Mike' Crawford

Morris Clayton Talbert, 87, of Stockton, was born June 28, 1935, in 
Oakley, Kansas. He went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on 
January 21, 2023, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center while 
surrounded by family. He died suddenly and unexpectedly from a fall.

Morris
 was born to Arthur and Violet Talbert. He moved to Ellis, KS in 1937 
where he attended school. He was known as being a great basketball 
player. In 1954 he enlisted in the army and was stationed at Fairbanks, 
Alaska. He returned to Ellis and enrolled at Fort Hays State College 
where he majored in chemistry. He received a Bachelor of Science degree 
in 1959 and a Master degree in 1961. He married Dolores Erickson on 
August 21, 1960.

In 1963, they moved to Kansas City 
where Morris worked for the Food and Drug Administration. He began 
dental school at University of Missouri Kansas City in 1964.

After
 graduating he worked in Oakley for one year and then finished his 
career in Stockton, where he joyfully served his dental patients until 
he was 74 years old. Morris was very active in his local church. He 
served in The Gideons for 52 years and served as Kansas state president 
for 3 years. One of his greatest joys was passing out Gideon scriptures.
 He enjoyed leading Bible studies in his home.

He was 
preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Clinton. Survivors 
include: his wife, Dolores, of the home; son, Tim Talbert (Elaine) 
Olathe; daughter, Becky Talbert Lenexa; daughter, Tami Nichols (Mike) 
Olathe.

Grandsons: Andrew Talbert (Chloe, son Noah), 
Isaac Talbert, Ezra Talbert (Meegan, daughter Eden), Josiah Talbert, 
Gabriel Santilli, Isaiah Santilli, Jacob Nichols (fiancée Charlotte 
Doyle), Elijah Nichols.

A Graveside Services was held on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in WaKeeney.

A
 Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023, 
at the Stockton Church of Restoration (formerly the United Methodist 
Church). The family invites everyone for fellowship and refreshments 
following the service.

Allen Arthur Finkbeiner, 78, passed away February 21, 2023,&nbsp;at the Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell, Kansas,&nbsp;surrounded by&nbsp;his&nbsp;family.&nbsp;

Allen was born June 2, 1944, in Wilson, Kansas, to Reverend Arthur A. and Ellnor (Schoenberger) Finkbeiner. He grew up in Wilson, Gaylord, Rush Center, and Smith Center - graduating with the Smith Center class of 1962. He also graduated from the Wichita Technical Institute in the years following.

Allen met and married Margaret Hulstine on June 4, 1977. They were blessed with and raised three children,&nbsp;Tim from Allen’s first marriage to Wynona Koker, and Amiee and Holly from his marriage with Margaret. Allen and Margaret celebrated their 45 years of marriage this last June.

Allen worked very hard to provide for his family. He worked at the Co-Op Refinery in Phillipsburg, ran an auto parts store in Ellsworth and transported crude oil in Russell.&nbsp;

Allen enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies including racing cars, participating in the local demolition derby, singing barbershop, restoring classic cars, playing cards and supporting his children in their many activities. Allen was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed&nbsp;following Kansas State athletics, Chiefs football and Royals baseball.

Allen also greatly enjoyed his six grandchildren. He hurried to meet each one upon birth and was at many of their events where they lived in Kansas, Montana and Minnesota.

Allen is survived by his wife, Margaret, of Russell; Tim and Janella Finkbeiner (children Jake and Kallie) of Monticello, Minnesota; Amiee and Dusty Decker (children Jack and Julia) of Clearwater, Minnesota; and Holly and Laran Steele (children Danen and Delanie) of&nbsp;Tribune, Kansas. His surviving family also includes his sisters, Elaine Eller and Gladys Woods, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Allen’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at the St. John Lutheran Church in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp;&nbsp;Burial will follow at the St. John&nbsp;Lutheran Cemetery in Russell.&nbsp;Visitation will be from 10 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Monday, February 27, 2023, at the mortuary with family greeting guests from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. Monday evening.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Memorials may be given to the St. John Lutheran Church and sent in care of the mortuary. &nbsp;Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell, Kansas, is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.

Sandra Sue “Sandy” Ochs, 82, Hays, died Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Ellis Good Samaritan Society.

She was born December 27, 1940, in Hays,
 Kansas the daughter of Eldred A. “Pete” and Louise (Turner) Ficken.&nbsp; 
Sandy lived in Bison until the age of six when her family moved to 
La Crosse where she attended grade school and graduated from high school.
 &nbsp;In 1961, she graduated from Dominican School of Nursing in Great Bend 
and worked as a registered nurse in La Crosse, Colby, and Hays.&nbsp; She 
later worked for USD 489 as a library secretary.&nbsp; On October 28, 1961, 
she was united in marriage to Richard J. “Dick” Ochs at St. Michael’s 
Church in La Crosse.&nbsp; They celebrated nearly 57 years of marriage before 
he preceded her in death on August 5, 2018.&nbsp; Sandy was a member of the 
S.O.S. breast cancer survivor group, enjoyed crocheting, and was a 
wonderful cook.&nbsp; She loved her beloved dogs and fishing, camping, 
cruises, and traveling with Dick.

Survivors include her son: Jeff 
Ochs-Kisner and husband Steve of Olathe, daughter: Kenda Fischer and 
husband Rodger of Ellis, three inherited grandchildren: Janet Schebaum 
and husband Derick of Concordia, Nicole Bollig and husband Tom of 
Lawrence, and Brianna Myers and husband Nate of Hays, and five inherited
 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dick, and her sister: Mary Lou Alberti.
