Roy E. Dague, 90, died on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Garden Valley 
Retirement Village in Garden City. He was born on October 2, 1932, in 
Franklin County the son of John George Jacob &amp; Etta (Morgan) Dague. 
 He married Louetta F. Goss on June 16, 1957, at Prairie View Church Of 
The Brethren. 
Roy attended Friend Grade School and Scott City High School. After his 
schooling he returned to the family farm to be a lifelong 
farmer-stockman. Roy was a jack of all trades - working in the 
oilfield, driving a truck, hauling manure, and harvesting hay and silage
 for nearby farmers. He enjoyed tatting, crocheting, woodworking, 
welding and just being a mechanic and handyman. Roy was great at 
figuring out ‘how to’ when there weren’t instructions. 
Roy was active in the church for many years where he taught Sunday 
School, was a deacon and sang with his beautiful wife. Roy loved 
serving his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Roy was a jokester - teasing 
his grandchildren, playing Old Maid, and teaching them all his skills. 
He is survived by his Wife- Louetta Dague, 2 Sons- Tracy Dague of Garden
 City and Edward Dague of Ingleside, Illinois; Daughter- Julie Jones of 
Garden City; 2 Sisters- Dorothy Stiles of Scott City and Betty Dague of 
Garden City; 5 Grandchildren (Summer Garcia, Alexander Dague, Megan 
Saller, Katerina Dague, Shannon Argot); and 4 Great-Grandchildren 
(Jeremy Garcia, Mya Garcia, Sierra Garcia, Jacob Garcia). 
Roy will be missed by his family, but we have comfort knowing he is in Heaven right now with his Savior. 
Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 25th, 2023, at 
Prairie View Church Of The Brethren in Friend with Rev Jon Tuttle 
officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Church Of The Brethren

Aaron Matthew Beesley

Don passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on March 16, 2023, 
at Hester Care Center on the Wesley Towers Campus, Hutchinson, KS.

Don was born March 28, 1941, to Ted and Dorothy (Brenner) Brening in 
La Crosse, KS, where he grew up. Don graduated from La Crosse High School 
in 1959. He attended Fort Hays State University prior to employment with
 Kansas Power and Light from 1961-1965.

He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Catherine Herrman, on 
Sept. 4, 1961, in La Crosse, KS. They were blessed with 61 years of 
marriage. They had three children: Kimberly, Kevin and Kelli. The couple
 raised their family in LaCrosse. In 1993, Don and Catherine moved to 
Great Bend due to Don’s employment.

Even with a busy schedule, Don attended all of his children's 
sporting events. He enjoyed cheering them on and supporting them in 
every sport or activity they were involved in. This commitment carried 
over to the grandchildren’s activities. He was a very dedicated and 
loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Don acquired his insurance license and was employed as an agent for 
State Farm Insurance Co. from 1965-1969, where he received numerous 
awards for sales. He was then hired by the Home State Bank in La Crosse 
as an insurance agent before he transitioned into banking. He thoroughly
 enjoyed his 43 year career in banking.

In 1973, Don and his wife Catherine purchased controlling interest of
 the Home State Bank and he was named President and CEO, a title he held
 until 1986. At that time, the bank was acquired by Farmers Bank and 
Trust of Great Bend. Don stayed on as branch Manager in La Crosse, until
 1993, when he was appointed a position as a bank Officer in the Great 
Bend branch of Farmers Bank and Trust. There, he completed his career 
and retired in December of 2009. Don enjoyed his many years in banking, 
especially the friendships he made over the years, both with his peers 
and his customers.

Don was a dedicated member of the Boy Scout’s and he achieved Eagle Scout status at age 17.

In 1974, he began attending the Colorado School of Banking at the 
University of Colorado in Boulder, where he received his degree in 1976.

Don was a member of St. Michael’s Church where he also served as a 
board member. He belonged to the La Crosse Lions Club, LaCrosse Chamber 
of Commerce, and La Crosse Jaycees. He served as a member of the School 
Board of USD 395 for many years, as well as Rush County Industrial and 
Economic Development. Don also held a position on the Board of Directors
 for Young Bank Officers of Kansas.

Don and his wife spent countless hours on various golf courses around
 the country. They shared many excursions and travel adventures with 
their children, boating, water skiing, and snow skiing in the Rockies. 
The couple did extensive traveling, including to several European 
countries with Austria being a favorite destination, as their eldest 
daughter and two grandchildren are permanent residents in Vienna.

Following his retirement, Don and his wife, Catherine, moved to 
Hutchinson, KS, to be closer to three of their grandchildren where they 
could be a part of their active lives.

Don is preceded in death by his parents and an infant grandson.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Catherine Brening, 
Hutchinson, KS; his children, Kimberly Brening Solomon, Vienna, Austria;
 Kevin (Pat) Brening, Hutchinson, KS; and Kelli (Brent) Hirneisen, 
Frisco, TX; his grandchildren, Jerod (Laura) Solomon, Vallejo, CA; 
Jessica (Kyle) Martindale, Oak Park, CA; Julia (Ryan) Walton, Cottonwood
 Heights, UT; Caleb (Tiara) Brening, Fayetteville AR; Konner (Spencer) 
Truman, Overland Park, KS; Kyndal Brening, Roseville, MN, Nikola and 
Adrianna Negovanovic, Vienna, Austria; Jaden Hirneisen, Frisco, TX; and 
his great-grandchildren Myla and Margo Martindale, Juniper Solomon, and 
Parker Walton who will be born in June; and numerous cousins.

Donald E. 'Don' Brening

Marilyn Jo Frevert was born July 7, 1936, in Ellsworth, Kansas, the 
daughter of Lloyd B. and Emma (Dlouhy) Evans. She passed away Tuesday, 
March 21, 2023, at Villa Grace Nursing Home in Ellsworth, Kansas, at the
 age of 86.

Marilyn was raised in Holyrood, Kansas, and graduated from Holyrood
 High School in 1954. She then attended Fort Hays State College and 
received a two-year teaching certificate. On June 16, 1957, Marilyn was 
united in marriage to Benjamin Richard Frevert in Holyrood. They resided
 in Hays, Kansas City, and Topeka before moving to Wilson in 1967. Four 
children were born to their union, and Marilyn stayed home with them 
until all four were in school. She then returned to Fort Hays State 
University and earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. 
Marilyn taught at Dorrance Grade School for many years, then finished 
her career at Wilson Grade School. She loved teaching and loved her 
“kids,” taking a personal interest in them. She was a substitute teacher
 for several years after retirement.

Over the years, Marilyn was an active member of her church and 
community. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wilson where 
she had sung in the choir, belonged to Service Circle, and led the youth
 choir while her kids were growing up. Marilyn was a former member of 
Mother’s Club, planted and cared for the flower beds at the Lions Club 
Park for many years, and volunteered at the Wilson Senior Center. She 
performed with the Sweet Adeline’s Choir in Lyons and said it was the 
best thing she’d ever done for herself. After moving to Ellsworth, 
Marilyn attended the United Methodist Church with Daran.

Marilyn was a loving, supportive mother who was proud of her 
children and their accomplishments in life. One of her greatest joys was
 becoming a grandmother. She rarely missed a birthday party or activity 
they were involved in. Her grandkids spent many happy hours playing at 
grandma’s house, enjoying fun and games upstairs, good food, and 
grandma’s orange lemonade. She was proud of them and happy to see them 
grow up, graduate from college, and find their soulmates.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Ben; parents, Lloyd and Emma; and sister, Loretta Keyser.

Survivors include her children, Ben Frevert Jr. of Fayettville, NC,
 Daran Frevert of Ellsworth, Dori Pauls (Rick) of Divide, CO, and 
Stephanie Stoppel (Dave) of Wilson; six grandchildren: Ryan Stoppel 
(Randi) of Wilson, Zane Pauls (Tara) of Divide, CO, Emmie Pauls (Dale 
Clowe) of Fort McMurray, AB Canada, Kylie Keeley (Mitch) of LaCrosse, 
Adrienne Roehl (Garret) of Dighton, and Jake Stoppel (Kamri) of Wilson; 
six great-grandchildren: Charlotte Pauls, Ronni and Ray Stoppel, Riley 
House and Dakota Clowe, and Lainey Keeley, with one on the way in 
August. Marilyn is also survived by her brother, Loren Evans (Barbara) 
of Flower Mound, TX; brother-in-law, Melvin Keyser (Lucy) of Wichita; 
several nephews and nieces and their families, in addition to other 
relatives and friends.

Marilyn J. (Evans) Frevert

Jessie E. Salley Jr., age 80, died Monday, March 20, 2023, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas.

He
 was born on June 3, 1942, the son of Jessie E. Salley Sr. and Wilma 
(January) Salley. Jessie was united in marriage to Wilma Jo “Jody" 
Schultz on May 19, 1961. She preceded him in death on March 23, 2011. 
Jessie raised three sons, Kurt, Kent, and Keith, and one daughter, 
Kelly. He graduated high school from Liberal High School and went on to

Jessie E. Salley Jr.

Diana Lea Naylor, 73, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 
21, 2023, at Select Specialty Hospital, Wichita. She was born on October 
25, 1949, in Liberal, KS the daughter of Leon and Loveyla (St. Clair) 
Wilson.

Diana grew up in Satanta was an active Girl Scout in her community. 
She moved with her family to Dodge City in 1966. She was a 1967 graduate
 of Dodge City High School. On January 25, 1969 she married Doyle Naylor
 at the First Church of God in Dodge City. In 1973, Doyle and Diana 
moved to Hays, Kansas where Doyle worked on his post secondary 
education. In Hays, Doyle and Diana were foster parents to more than 30 
children in the span of the two years they lived there. In 1975, they 
moved back to Dodge City where Diana worked various jobs while raising 
her family. Diana ended her working years as life skills instructor and a
 community living instructor for Arrowhead West. She worked at Arrowhead
 West for 15 years. She was an avid reader; collector of Antiques, and 
loved art. Diana also supported her children and grandchildren in all 
their sporting events and was a two time breast cancer survivor.

She was a member of the First Church of God in Dodge City and Christian Women’s Connection.

Diana is survived by her husband Doyle Naylor of Dodge City; a 
daughter, Sarah Alexander and husband Darcy of Satanta; a son, Chris 
Naylor and wife Crystal of Satanta; grandchildren, Sabrina, Logan, Seth,
 August, and Kade Russell, Maylea, Marshall, and Macklin Alexander, and 
Brooke, Beckett, and Brier Naylor; two brothers, Andrew Wilson of 
Belton, Texas and Michael Wilson of Pleasant View, Tennessee; and a 
sister, Kathleen Gleeson of Jamestown, North Carolina. She was preceded 
in death by her parents; a daughter, Robyn Russell; and a brother, Bill 
Wilson.

Funeral service will be held at First Church of God on Saturday March
 25, 2023, at 10:30 AM with Kevin Ritchhart and Lloyd Bowman presiding.&nbsp; 
Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation

Diana Lea Naylor

Don was born March 28, 1941, to Ted and Dorothy (Brenner) Brening in 
La Crosse, KS, where he grew up.&nbsp; Don graduated from La Crosse High School
 in 1959.&nbsp; He attended Fort Hays State University prior to employment 
with Kansas Power and Light from 1961-1965.

He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Catherine Herrman, on 
Sept. 4, 1961, in La Crosse, KS.&nbsp; They were blessed with 61 years of 
marriage.&nbsp; They had three children: Kimberly, Kevin and Kelli.&nbsp; The 
couple raised their family in La Crosse.&nbsp; In 1993, Don and Catherine 
moved to Great Bend due to Don’s employment.&nbsp;

Even with a busy schedule, Don attended all of his children's 
sporting events.&nbsp; He enjoyed cheering them on and supporting them in 
every sport or activity they were involved in.&nbsp; This commitment carried 
over to the grandchildren’s activities.&nbsp; He was a very dedicated and 
loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Don acquired his insurance license and was employed as an agent for 
State Farm Insurance Co. from 1965-1969, where he received numerous 
awards for sales.&nbsp; He was then hired by the Home State Bank in LaCrosse 
as an insurance agent before he transitioned into banking.&nbsp; He 
thoroughly enjoyed his 43 year career in banking. &nbsp; &nbsp;

In 1973, Don and his wife Catherine purchased controlling interest of
 the Home State Bank and he was named President and CEO, a title he held
 until 1986. At that time, the bank was acquired by Farmers Bank and 
Trust of Great Bend.&nbsp; Don stayed on as branch manager in La Crosse, 
until 1993, when he was appointed a position as a bank officer in the 
Great Bend branch of Farmers Bank and Trust.&nbsp; There, he completed his 
career and retired in December of 2009.&nbsp; Don enjoyed his many years in 
banking, especially the friendships he made over the years, both with 
his peers and his customers. &nbsp;

In 1974, he began attending the Colorado School of Banking at the 
University of Colorado in Boulder, where he received his degree in 1976.
 &nbsp;

Don was a member of St. Michael’s Church where he also served as a 
board member.&nbsp; He belonged to the LaCrosse Lions Club, La Crosse Chamber 
of Commerce, and La Crosse Jaycees. He served as a member of the School 
Board of USD 395 for many years, as well as Rush County Industrial and 
Economic Development.&nbsp; Don also held a position on the Board of 
Directors for Young Bank Officers of Kansas.

Don and his wife spent countless hours on various golf courses around
 the country. They shared many excursions and travel adventures with 
their children, boating, water skiing, and snow skiing&nbsp; in the Rockies. 
The couple did extensive traveling, including to several European 
countries with Austria being a favorite destination, as their eldest 
daughter and two grandchildren are permanent residents in Vienna.

Following his retirement, Don and his wife, Catherine, moved to 
Hutchinson, KS, to be closer to three of their grandchildren where they 
could be a part of their active lives. &nbsp;

The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to those who 
cared for Don at Hester Care Center, Wesley Towers, Hutchinson, KS since
 September 2022.

Patricia R. “Patti” Strickler, age 80, 
passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at the Good Shepherd 
Hospice Home in Manhattan, Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on November 1, 1942 in 
Ainsworth, Nebraska, the daughter of David W. &amp; Margaret M. Donahoe 
Berry.&nbsp; A lifetime resident of Scott City, Kansas, she worked for USD 
466 for over 36 years serving as both secretary and Clerk Of The Board 
before retiring in 2012.

She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Funds For Fun, Xi
 Delta Kappa Sorority, VFW Auxiliary Post #7773, all of Scott City, 
Kansas. Patti was also an avid KSU football and basketball fan and 
enjoyed attending her granddaughters events.

On November 22, 1974, she married Vincent J. Strickler in Cimarron, Kansas.&nbsp; He survives.

Survivors include her Husband - Vince Strickler of Scott City, 
Kansas, One Daughter - Suzette &amp; Chris Price of Scott City, Kansas, 
One Sister - Colleen Brand of Scott City, Kansas, One Brother - Peter

Patricia R. 'Patti' Strickler

Maurice C. Watson passed away March 18th, 2023, at the Cimarron Nursing Center in Kingfisher, OK at the age of 93. He was born April 15th, 1929, in Smith County, KS, the son of Austin T and Georgia M (Woodard) Watson.

Maurice served in the US Army in his early 20’s. He always enjoyed talking about driving for the officers and how they always appreciated his promptness and hard work. After serving his country Maurice returned to the States where he worked at Boeing Aircraft as a blueprint specialist, also working other jobs throughout the years. He then later married Dorothy Mashaney and they became parents to Bonnie and Connie. Later through the years they were divorced. The girls and their mother and stepfather moved to Oklahoma where Maurice would soon follow to be around his girls. He worked at Presbyterian Hospital as a Broiler Operator. He returned to Kansas later to help take care of his mother after his father had passed. He then worked for the State of Kansas for 15 years where he retired from. 

Maurice was a truly kind gentle and loving son, father, and grandfather. He always put his family first, sometimes working 3 jobs to make ends meet. His many relatives and friends enjoyed his humor, he always had funny things to tell. Everyone that met him always talked about how sweet a man he was. His daughters will tell you how wonderful a father he was and that he was the best father a girl could ask for. Maurice was a Christian man and had a heart like Jesus. He will be missed by his daughters and their families and friends. He was a very loved Man by all who met him!

Preceded in death by his father and mother Austin and Georgia Watson, one brother Austin Watson Jr and two sisters Marcele Hawkins and Celia Watson.

Survivors include twin daughters, Bonnie Watson of Tuttle, OK and Connie Simmons of El Reno, OK along with their siblings Karen Finney and Paula Natarelli both of Sun City AZ, Larry Woodrome of Bartlesville, OK and Ginger Ashley of Weatherford OK, he loved them like his own girls. Four grandchildren, Dustin &amp; Wife Nikki Strong of Tuttle, OK, Angela Weiss of Phoenix, AZ, Marisa, and husband Joseph Jackson of Dover, OK and Stasha Turner of El Reno, OK, nine great grandchildren Justus, Zane, Kaci, Cierra, Rashelle, Reyse, Serenity, Lux and Symphony and six great great grandchildren Gracie, Paisley, Xzander, Layla, Hazel and Levlyn.

He was born April 15th, 1929, in Smith County, KS, the son of Austin T and Georgia M (Woodard) Watson.Maurice served in the US Army in his early 20’s. He always enjoyed talking about driving for the officers and how they always appreciated his promptness and hard work. After serving his country Maurice returned to the States where he worked at Boeing Aircraft as a blueprint specialist, also working other jobs throughout the years. He then later married Dorothy Mashaney and they became parents to Bonnie and Connie. Later through the years they were divorced. The girls and their mother and stepfather moved to Oklahoma where Maurice would soon follow to be around his girls. He worked at Presbyterian Hospital as a Broiler Operator. He returned to Kansas later to help take care of his mother after his father had passed. He then worked for the State of Kansas for 15 years where he retired from. Maurice was a truly kind gentle and loving son, father, and grandfather. He always put his family first, sometimes working 3 jobs to make ends meet. His many relatives and friends enjoyed his humor, he always had funny things to tell. Everyone that met him always talked about how sweet a man he was. His daughters will tell you how wonderful a father he was and that he was the best father a girl could ask for. Maurice was a Christian man and had a heart like Jesus. He will be missed by his daughters and their families and friends. He was a very loved Man by all who met him!Preceded in death by his father and mother Austin and Georgia Watson, one brother Austin Watson Jr and two sisters Marcele Hawkins and Celia Watson.Survivors include twin daughters, Bonnie Watson of Tuttle, OK and Connie Simmons of El Reno, OK along with their siblings Karen Finney and Paula Natarelli both of Sun City AZ, Larry Woodrome of Bartlesville, OK and Ginger Ashley of Weatherford OK, he loved them like his own girls. Four grandchildren, Dustin &amp; Wife Nikki Strong of Tuttle, OK, Angela Weiss of Phoenix, AZ, Marisa, and husband Joseph Jackson of Dover, OK and Stasha Turner of El Reno, OK, nine great grandchildren Justus, Zane, Kaci, Cierra, Rashelle, Reyse, Serenity, Lux and Symphony and six great great grandchildren Gracie, Paisley, Xzander, Layla, Hazel and Levlyn.A graveside service, officiated by Pastor Art Walker, will be held 
Friday, March 24, 2023, 1:00 p.m., at the Fairview Cemetery in 
Phillipsburg, Kansas.

Maurice C. Watson

Wyann Ellsworth Kaiser was born on March 5, 1947, to Ellsworth Herman
 Henry Kaiser and Bertha Elsie Kaiser in Phillipsburg, Kansas.

Wyann was baptized, confirmed, and married at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stuttgart, Kansas.

In 1970, he earned his bachelor’s degree in Instrumentational Engineering from Pittsburg College.

On September 1, 1968, Wyann married Connie Sue Stones at Emmanuel 
Evangelical Lutheran Church and between 1970 and 1974, Wyann and Connie 
welcomed two daughters, Deborah and Heather, into their lives.

In 1979, Wyann accepted an opportunity to take his family to Saudi 
Arabia, where he continued his engineering career in the oil refinery 
business. This opportunity allowed him and his family to travel the 
world numerous times.

In 1985, Wyann returned to the United States with his family. They 
settled in Chesapeake, Virginia, and served our Lord at St. Andrews 
Lutheran Church.

Between 2002 and 2012, Wyann and Connie welcomed four grandchildren, 
Raiden Oliva Phillips, Reese Lane Phillips, Paul Randolph Jones, III, 
and Roxi Sophie Phillips, into their lives. He adored his grandchildren.
 They called him Pop Pop.

In 2002, Wyann retired from Amoco/BP Refinery in Yorktown, VA. &nbsp;Soon 
after retirement, he and Connie followed their dream of traveling around
 the United States in their “home on wheels.” Wyann and Connie enjoyed 
exploring and visiting family.

Wyann is survived by his wife of 54 years, Connie Sue Kaiser; his two
 daughters, Deborah Sue Jones and husband Paul and Heather Wynett 
Phillips and husband Rob; his sister Cheryl Loy Keesee and husband 
Jerry; his grandchildren, Raiden Olivia Phillips and Reese Lane Phillips
 Paul Randolph Jones III, and Roxi Sophie Phillips and a host of 
cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Wyann was preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Elise Kaiser 
Whitney, his father, Ellsworth Herman Henry Kaiser, and his uncle, 
Ludwig Kaiser, whom he loved very much.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2023,&nbsp; in the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stuttgart, with Pastor Lee 
Bennight officiating.&nbsp; Inurnment will follow in the Emmanuel Evangelical
 Lutheran Cemetery.

James L. Urbanek, 79, of Colby died Monday, March 20, 2023, in Colby. He
 was born August 25, 1943, in Lincoln, Kansas, to Benjamin and Margaret 
(Schroeder) Urbanek. He graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1961. 
Jim served in the United States Navy. On October 17, 1964, he married 
Cheryl Jimison. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joseph Urbanek, 
Donald Urbanek, David Urbanek, and Gary Urbanek; and his beloved wife, 
Cheryl. 
He is survived by his children, Jamie (Paul) Heskett, of Oakley, KS and 
Mitch Urbanek, of Plainville, KS; sisters, Rosemary Rathbun, of 
Ellsworth, KS, Theresa Richards (Les), of Sylvan Grove, KS, and Valerie 
Urbanek, of Houston, TX; seven grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and

Wesley James Gross III, of Russell, Kansas, died on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the Hays Medical Center in Hays, Kansas.

Wesley was born on July 1, 1945, in Langston, Oklahoma, the son of 
Wesley J. Jr. and Amanda (Franklin) Gross.&nbsp; He grew up in the Langston 
and Guthrie, Oklahoma, area and attended local schools.&nbsp; He met, fell in 
love and was united in marriage to Donna Dewberry on April 2, 2014, in 
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.&nbsp; She worked for Union Pacific Railroad for many
 years.&nbsp; He enjoyed working on cars, house remodeling and doing handyman
 jobs for friends and family.&nbsp; Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with
 his family.

Surviving family include daughters Anetra Gross of El Reno, Oklahoma,
 Dandria Trueluck and, Shalyn Law (Charles) of Russell, Kansas, Michelle
 Williams of Long Beach, California, and Tanisha Gross of Russell, 
Kansas; sons Ronald Groves of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Torrrance Cooper 
of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Wayne Neal (Shanita), and Devan Gross all of
 Russell, Kansas; brothers William Gross of El Reno, Oklahoma, and Calvin
 Gross of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 26 grandchildren, 25 great 
grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Donna, 2 sons 
Wesley Gross VI and James “Reggie” Gross; 5 sisters Viola Smith, Gracie 
Smith, Aljewel Lambert, Estellia Davidson and Slettie Dewberry; son 
in-law Dana William, Sr..

Cremation has been selected by the family.&nbsp; A private family 
celebration of Wesley’s life will be held at a later date.&nbsp;

2023 at his home with family present. He was born in Osborne, Kansas, on 
January 5th 1937. 

He married his high school sweetheart, Sharon 
Carlisle, April 28, 1956, in Russell, Kansas.&nbsp; They were married 64 years
 at her passing in 2020. 

Philip was a horse trainer and a buyer for 
Sheplers, after his service in the United States Air Force.

Philip was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sharon&nbsp; and daughter Lana.

He
 is survived by his daughter, Lisa Baxter (Russ); son-in-law Doug Clark;
 grandsons, Dallas Huebert (Brandi), Brett Baxter (Kristin) and Bryan 
Baxter; great grandchildren, Dylan Nobert (Audrey), Blake Huebert, 
Morgan Huebert, Brooklyn Huebert, Oakley Baxter and Walker Baxter; many 
other family and friends.

Marilyn Karlin, 84, of Salina, Kansas passed away 
peacefully on Sunday, March 19, 2023, surrounded by her family.&nbsp; She was 
born in Oakley, Kansas, on December 7, 1938, the second child of eight 
in her loving family. &nbsp;

In August of 1956, Marilyn married the love of her life, Norman 
Karlin.&nbsp; They were happily married for 66 years.&nbsp; Norman and Marilyn 
were blessed with two daughters, Deanna and Barbara.

Marilyn enjoyed helping others and shared her many talents.&nbsp; She had a
 knack for decorating, cooking, and making things special for everyone.&nbsp;
 She remembered all her family and friends’ birthdays and other holidays
 by always sending that special card. &nbsp; 
Throughout the years, she had numerous jobs including at Salina Vo-Tech, 
Salina Credit Union, and the Railroad Credit Union.&nbsp; Always a dedicated 
worker and making good friends along the way. &nbsp;

She enjoyed lots of fun times at their cabin at Cedar Bluff, 
entertaining friends and family, vacations and family reunions, and 
trips out west to Oregon and California to visit their daughters and 
grandchildren.&nbsp; She had a green thumb and enjoyed her time in her lovely
 flower gardens.

Marilyn was an incredible wife, mother, and grandma.&nbsp; She is survived
 by husband, Norman, of the home; daughter, Deanna (Greg), and Barbara 
(Mark); three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers; 
four sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews. &nbsp;

Marilyn will be forever missed and never forgotten.&nbsp; Memorial service
 will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 24, at Ryan Mortuary, in 
Salina.&nbsp; Lunch in follow. &nbsp;

He was born August 11, 1959, in San 
Diego, California, the son of Jack and Fay (Cordes) Northern.&nbsp; On July 
24, 1982, he was united in marriage to Patricia Dixon in Riverside, 
California, and they were married over 40 years. Before moving to Kansas
 in 2011, Barney and Patricia lived in California where Barney worked as
 a correctional officer until his retirement.&nbsp; He was a Nascar fan and 
enjoyed trips to Las Vegas.

Survivors include his wife Patricia of 
Ellis, three sisters, Sharon Northern of San Antonio, TX, Becky Bashaw 
and husband Joel of San Jacinto, CA, and Jackie Northern of Riverside, 
CA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Barney M. Northern

Fostine Kay Gardner was born on December 21, 1938, in Centralia, 
Illinois, to Carl Gene Britt and Iris Helen (Whitten) Britt. Fostine 
passed away on December 20, 2022, at the Phillips County Retirement 
Center in Phillipsburg, Kansas, at the age of 83.

She was preceded in death by her parents Gene and Iris Britt, her 
husband Paul Gardner, and her two sons-in-law, Leroy Cardenas and Jim 
Shields.

She worked several different jobs over the years. In the early 90’s 
she went to work at Robinson Implement, which later became Landmark 
Implement, for over 30 years before retiring at the age of 75.

Fostine was an original member of the “Haggled Hags” and enjoyed 
spending time with all of the other “Hags," whether they were camping, 
playing cards, or just having dinner together. She also enjoyed her 
children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as enjoyed attending 
their many sporting events and school activities.

Fostine is survived by her three children, Loujena Cardenas of 
Hawthorne, Nevada, Kimberly Shields of Phillipsburg, and Bradford Parker
 of Phillipsburg, as well as her brother Roderick Britt and wife Sandy 
of Wilsonville.

Friends may sign the book on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.&nbsp;

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church.

Louise W. (Hemman) Oelke

Linda Joyce Matson, 76, of Norton, KS passed away March 20, 2023, at 
the Norton County Hospital. She was born June 22, 1946, in Schenectady, 
NY to John L. and Dorothy A. (Cleiss) Quante.

Linda was
 a 1965 graduate of Wheat Ridge High School in Colorado. Most of her 
adult life was spent in Colorado. She worked at her church Our Lady of 
Fatima Catholic Church. Linda married Gary Matson on May 27, 1967. They 
moved to Norton, KS 20 years ago. Linda enjoyed gardening, flowers and 
traveling to Amish and Mennonite communities in Missouri with Gary.

Linda
 was preceded in death by her parents and brothers and sisters. She is 
survived by her husband of 55 years, Gary of the home; daughters, Brenda
 Kay Steel of Denver, CO and Darcie Jo Matson of rural Bennett, CO; 
sister-in-law, Bev Quante of Lakewood, CO; three grandchildren and many 
close friends.

To celebrate Linda’s life there will be a
 Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 am Friday, March 24, 2023, at St. Francis 
of Assisi Catholic Church, Norton.

Caiden Matthew West, age 16, of Hays, Kansas passed away March 12, 2023.&nbsp;

He was born September 30, 2006, in LaJunta, Colorado, to Randy and Shauna (Snyder) West.

Caiden was an avid gamer and skateboarder with a kind compassionate heart. His friends meant a lot to him.

Survivors include his parents, Randy and Shauna of Hays, KS; one sister, Swaizea West, Hays; Uncles Tom Blankenbecker, North Carolina; Ron (Jenny) West, Iowa; Matthew (Neray) Garcia, California; aunts Jennifer (David) Hulett, Nebraska; Bridgette (Kevin) Brumley, Hoisington; grandparents Ortencia, and Samuel Garcia, Hays; grandparents Rose and Robert Swank, Ottawa, Kansas; cousins Dalton, Megan, Madison, River, McKenzie, Mariah, Sydney, Adalyn, Alexis, Arian, Alyanna, Anthony and Kahleesis, and his beloved cat, Peaches.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his grandfather Ronald Dean West, infant sister, Nevaeh Rose West, and a cousin, Alyssa Ann.&nbsp;

Caiden Matthew West

James Dwight Noble, 79, passed away March 20, 2023, at his home, Larned.

He was born September 29, 1943, in Wellington, Kansas; the son of 
James and Dorothy Bruce Noble.&nbsp; A longtime area resident, he was a 
mechanic for John Deere Implement and USD 495 Bus Barn. He retired from 
the Army National Guard as a Staff Sergeant after twenty years of 
service.

Dwight was a master of many trades, Lock Smith, Plumber and Carpenter, was a Mason and a Shriner.

Survivors include; his common law spouse, LaVerna (Schaffer) Ochs, 
Larned; three daughters, Dana Noble, Larned, Danette Noble, Salina, and 
Dawnita Noble, Wesley Chapel, Florida; two sisters, Carolyn Prather, 
Peoria, IL and Judy Lauterbach, Oregon; six grandchildren, Trenton 
Barrett, Kelton Barrett, Mickiah Whaley, Shaughn Noble, Abbygayle Noble 
and Tiffany Bair; two great grandchildren, Johnathon King Barrett and 
Rocky Noble; a nephew Chance (Michelle) Noble, Larned, and numerous 
other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by; two brothers, his twin brother, Dwayne Noble and Merel Lauterbach.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 24th, at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel.&nbsp; Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday, March 23rd, at the mortuary.&nbsp;

Cody Alan Ragan, 34, passed away on March 19, 2023, at his home in 
Great Bend, Kansas. He was born on July 28, 1988, in Great Bend, Kan., 
to Kenneth Ragan and Staci Hammer-Ragan.

A lifelong Barton County resident, Cody was a hard worker, 
immediately starting work after high school at Larned Correctional 
Mental Health Facility prior to becoming a driver for UPS. He loved 
spending time with his children, family, and friends, cheering on the 
Kansas City Chiefs, and being outdoors – specifically fishing and 
hiking.

Survivors include a son, Dace Alan Ragan; three daughters, Kylee 
Elizabeth, Mia Jade, and Madelyn Mae Ragan; mother, Staci (David) Moore 
of Sherwood, Ark.; father, Kenneth “Ken” (Joni Carr) Ragan, of 
Milberger, Kan.; two brothers, Jonathan (Jessica Michael) Ragan of 
Auburn, Wash., and Tanner Ragan of Silverdale, Wash.; a sister, Ashely 
Jackson of Sherwood, Ark.; nieces and nephews, Joseph, Austin and Hunter
 Ragan, Adaline Ragan, Jonathan and Jozlyn Bohl, Elijah Ragan, Mike 
Leiker, Korban and Logan Bain; grandparents, William and Marietta Hammer
 of Montrose, Colo., and LaVon Rosell of Wamego, Kan.; and lots of 
aunts, uncles, and cousins.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A 
celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date. Memorials have 
been designated to Cody Ragan Memorial Fund or Children’s Education 
Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
