David Walter Kuerschner, the fifth child of Reverend Edwin M. and Olivia B (Krueger) was born July 13, 1945 in Ladysmith, Wisconsin. 

His at-home baptism occurred on August 12 with confirmation of that vow on March 22, 1959, at Trinity Lutheran, North Morristown, Minnesota. At three years of age, Dave determined he would be a pastor. The majority of his formal education reflected this goal beginning at the Lutheran Day School, North Morristown, Concordia Academy and College (St. Paul, Minnesota), Concordia Senior College (Fort Wayne, Indiana) and Concordia Seminary (St. Louis, Missouri - Masters of Divinity degree, 1971) completed the pastoral education. His love of singing was evident in all of his participation in all of the Concordia choirs.

While at Concordia College, Dave met PeggyJean Holste. They were married on June 9, 1968, Ludell, Kansas. God blessed this union with three children: Jonathan Kirk ('75), Jeffrey Kristof ('80) and Jenienne Kim ('82). 

After completing his vicarage year at Bethel, Middleberg Heights, Ohio and seminary graduation, Dave was called to Holy Trinity, Lakeview, Michigan, where he served for nine plus years. Other parishes he served were Zion, Staunton, Illinois and Immanuel, Colorado Springs, Colorado. In 1992, Cargill Associates (a para church company) approached Dave to be a church consultant. Six years later he was asked to do this work for Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod as Vice President of Agency Services. As part of the "umbrella" of Lutheran Church Extension Fund, he later became VP of Capital Funding Services. During this time, he ministered to 41 congregations and 36 agencies, programs at 56 and 48 respectively. 

Retirement in 2011 brought many joys. First and foremost was time spent with adult children and grandchildren, siblings and friends. Other activities included still writing stewardship materials, wood working, gardening, fishing, puttering in the yard so he could visit with passersby, continuing theological discussions and sharing faith times with old and new friends. 

David was released from much pain to be with our Savior October 22, 2023. 

Those who predeceased him were his parents, his sister Doris, nephews, Michael Kuerschner and Bradley Meech and sister-in-law, Betsy Holste.

Those left to enjoy memories are PeggyJean, Jonathan, Jeffrey, Jenienne (Jason); grandchildren Jonathan II (Shalee), Joseph "Joey" Kuerschner, Lucas and Louis Gabathuler; great grandchild, Ben; god children Jan Flores, Joel Kuerschner, Bryan Meech, Nathan Kuerschner and Nikki Haas; siblings Victor (Dorothy), Vernon (Valeria), John (Shirley), Edwin (Patricia) Kuerschner; many nieces, nephews and spouses, relatives and friends.

&nbsp; Richard Royce "Rico" Casper, 56, of Brewster departed from this world on October 28, 2023, in Brewster, KS. He was born on April 13, 1967, in Hays, KS. 

He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a true friend to many.

Richard Casper is survived by his wife, Cherise; daughter, Tiffany and husband Jesse, of Missouri, and their children Rory, Aleczandyr, Temperance, Sylar, and Dorien; daughter Amanda and husband Dustin, of Loveland, CO, and their children Jude, Adriana, Serenity and Elijah; son Daymond and wife Shanel, of Colby, KS and their daughter Ava; son Nicholas of Colby; siblings, Harriet, Harry, Bruce and Brian; and many nieces and nephews.

His love and influence will continue to live on through his family. He brought joy and happiness into the lives of his loved ones through his caring and genuine nature.

Penny Rae Law, 59, of Hill City, Kansas entered into the arms of Jesus October 26, 2023. She was born September 11, 1964, at the Graham County Hospital in Hill City to Clarene (Haynes) and Randall Law. 

Penny grew up on a farm between Hill City and WaKeeney. She attended grade school in Hill City and furthered her education at Beamgard Learning Center in Atwood. At age 21 Penny began attending Kobler Center (DSNWK) and a few years later started a job cleaning at Pizza Hut in the mornings. Penny gained many lifelong friendships through these experiences. 

She retired from Pizza Hut in 2016 after 20 plus years and continued attending Kobler Center until 2023.

Penny had an incredible zest for life and enjoyed bowling, cheerleading, participating in Special Olympics events and 4-H. She loved Reba McEntire and watching her favorite TV shows on DVDs. Her favorites were Little House on the Prairie, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman and The Waltons. Penny had a magnetic personality and never met a person she didn’t like. She had a joyous giggle and a smile that could light up a room.

Penny was preceded in death by her father Randall Law, her sister Kim Wagner, and her grandparents Clarence and Oda Haynes and Frank and Edna Law. 

She is survived by her mother Clarene Law-Wanker and stepfather Bob Wanker, Hill City; brothers Steve Law, Plainville, and Chad Law (Stephanie) Hays; nephew Sawyer Law, Hays; niece Nikki Wagner, Wichita; great-niece Alexis Wagner, Wichita; and many cousins. She had a special relationship with her uncle Gary Haynes, Hill City; aunt Korla Griffey, Norton; cousins Sheila Law, Fort Smith, Montana and Ashley Law, Loveland, Colorado; and many other family members and close friends.

Penny Rae Law

Louis Leroy Robinson passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023 with his family by his side. Lou was born on May 22, 1934 to Tom and Mabel Robinson near Bogue Kansas.&nbsp;

After graduating high school from Downs, Kansas he went to Emporia State where he met and married Barbara Moore in 1958. They moved to Hays in 1962 where he worked for Golden Belt Wholesale until he started his own business – Robinson’s Color Center which later became Hearth and Home Center. As a kitchen designer, he really asked questions to find out how the customers lived in their space to personalize his design work. 

After retirement he worked in the maintenance department at Fort Hays State University. In 2004 Lou and Barb moved to Hutchinson to be close to grandchildren.

Lou worked hard throughout his life and could fix just about anything. He shared his time and talents with family - traveling with his tools to complete honey-do-tasks during visits. He served his communities by participating on boards, coaching youth, and involvement in his church. &nbsp;He was always passionate about working with kids throughout his life as a father, uncle, coach, youth mentor and the best papa ever! He became Lucky Lou on a trip to India in 2012 and if you were fortunate enough to have met him, he passed luck on to you with a firm handshake and a smile.

Lou is survived by his wife, Barbara, of 65 years and his three children Mark Robinson (Stephanie) of Lawrence Kansas, Lisa Robinson Johnson (Craig) of Spain and Hays, Julia Robinson Johnson (Kirk) of Hutchinson; nine grandchildren, Lee, Alex, Spenser, Corbin, Walker, Claire, Lydia, Wyatt and Winston; and four great-grandchildren, Ariana, Jackson, Xander and Brigham who are a blessing and were blessed by their beloved Papa; and three sisters, Shirley Schoen, Fredrica Murphy and Rosalie Bliss. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Betty Robinson and Patty Jean Robinson. &nbsp;&nbsp;

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Wesley Tower’s Chapel, 3709 Asbury Place, Hutchinson, Kansas on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at 2 pm.&nbsp;

Survivors include two sons, Richard Garcia and Alex Contreras; a daughter, Hannah Contreras; a son-in-law, Jeremy Robinson; a daughter-in-law, Lindsay Hames; four brothers, Fred Contreras, Steve Contreras, David Contreras and Joe Contreras, Jr.; two sisters, Delores Munoz and Anita Cleveland; four grandchildren, Braelynn Contreras, Haven Hames, Rylan Robinson and Trevor Cline; five nieces and nephews, April Zendajas, Candy Contreras, Steven Contreras, Shawna Contreras and Dalton Contreras; three great-nieces and nephews, Reyna Zendajas, Alexandria Zendajas and Vicente Zendajas; and a great-great-nephew, Horacio Zendajas.

Richard Lee Ahlvers, 90, passed away October 27, 2023, at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kan. He was born at home on the family farm on May 19, 1933, in Mitchell County, Kan. to Leo and Eunice (Smith) Ahlvers. 

He married Kathryn Deines November 19, 1961, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Otis.&nbsp;

Richard was a United States Army veteran, serving from 1955 to 1957 as a Signal Officer, earning the rank of First Lieutenant. &nbsp;

“Mr. Ahlvers” was a long-time educator and administrator in Kansas. &nbsp;His dedication to his career began as a science and math teacher at Stafford High School. He then transitioned to a principal and athletic director at St. Francis for 12 years. &nbsp;He served as principal at Mankato Elementary, and then superintendent at Pike Valley, retiring in 1996. &nbsp;Failing at retirement, he served as interim superintendent at North Central School District, before finally officially re-retiring in 1998. &nbsp;

A resident of Great Bend since 1998, Richard served as a volunteer for the AARP Tax-Aide Program until 2019.&nbsp; He was an active member of the Great Bend Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend Noon Lions Club, the County Planning Committee and served as a board member of the Boys Home. &nbsp;

Richard was an avid Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan and, as a Fort Hays State and Kansas State alumnus, enjoyed all Kansas college athletics, particularly after his daughters attended KU and Emporia. &nbsp;Never having an idle mind, he was a lifelong learner and enjoyed extensive conversation spanning everything from history to politics to agriculture.&nbsp;

While Richard was the ultimate professional at work, his passion was for his family, of whom he was immensely proud (especially his beloved grandson). Having children gave him both the perfect opportunity to indulge in his love of horses, and to spend time with his family.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife of 62 years Kathy; two daughters, Alicia Ahlvers of Henrico, Va. and Richelle Ahlvers-Dolphin and husband Wade Dolphin of Monument, Colo.; a brother, Rodney Ahlvers and wife Norma of Glen Elder; a sister, Pat Boyd and husband Jim of Beloit; a sister-in-law, Carol Ahlvers; a brother-in-law, James Deines and wife Marsha; a sister-in-law Vickie Riedl and husband Martin; a sister-in-law, Marcia Brewer and husband Lee; and a grandson, Jonathon Ahlvers and wife Dale Northrup of Colorado Springs, Colo., as well as a large extended family. &nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Bob Ahlvers and David Ahlvers, two brothers-in-law Robert Deines and Frank Deines, and one sister-in-law Elizabeth Deines.&nbsp;

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at Bryant Funeral Home, with family to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend, with Reverend Jay Welshonse presiding. Military Rites will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Michael Kemp Money, 84, of Hill City, Kansas, passed away October 26, 2023. He was born to Rex and Katharyn (Kemp) Money in Enid, Oklahoma, June 11, 1939.

Mike was raised in Pratt, Kansas, and moved to Hill City his senior year, graduating from Hill City Memorial High School in 1957. He graduated from Fort Hays Kansas State College with a bachelor of science in business. 

Throughout college, Mike drove home every weekend to work for his father at Money Chevrolet as a wash boy. 

While at Fort Hays, Mike met his lifelong partner Kay ImMasche, and they were later married in 1961 at the Methodist Wesley Foundation in Hays, Kansas.

Mike was a man of few words, but his loyalty to his community and family was unwavering. Though his first love was the automobile and truck business, he found true happiness in Kansas's greatest gift, its land. There was nothing Mike loved more than to take Kay out on evening rides through the country at sunset. But beyond everything else, the pride and love for his family was closest to his heart.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Susie (Money) Wessling. 

Survivors include his beloved wife and companion for over 61 years, Kay of the home; a brother, Larry Money (Dawn) Perryton, Texas; sons Michael Money of Salina, Kansas, and partner Annie Grevas, and Doug Money (Teri) of Penokee, Kansas; daughter Meg Money of San Diego, California and partner Bill McNamara; daughter Gretchen Elliott (Ben) of Lindsborg, Kansas; grandchildren Ashley Money, Michael John Money, Tayler Atkins (Casey), Clay Money (Katelyn), Beck Elliott (Kennedy), Cort Elliott, Karik Elliott, and Crew Elliott; great-grandchildren: Locke, Leighton, and Macy.

Cremation has been chosen, and a memorial service will be held in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hill City, Kansas, on Wednesday, November 1, at 11:00 a.m.

Janet Marie (Langer) Finke, 52, passed away on Oct. 19, 2023, with family by her side.&nbsp;

Janet was born to Arlene Langer and the late Alvin Langer on Dec. 3, 1970 in Ness City, KS. 

She grew up on a farm south of Ness City, graduated high school in 1989, and received her bachelor of science in education from Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS in May of 2023.

She was married to Kelly Finke on November 4, 2000. 

Janet is survived by her husband Kelly; her children Carson Finke, Kealan Finke, Hannah Finke, and Taylor Finke; her mother Arlene Langer; and by a host of many other close family members.

Janet was preceded in death by her father (Alvin), mother-in-law (Thelma Finke), and step-son (Nick Finke).

Janet started as a paraprofessional in 2010 and became the 4th grade teacher at Minneola in 2020. She loved teaching at Minneola Grade School and working with the children. She leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories and was cherished by many.

A rosary will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Friday, November 17, 2023, 6:30 p.m. with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m. A memorial mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, November 18, 2023, 10:00 a.m. with inurnment to follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be sent to St. Jude’s Memorial Hospital in memory of Janet.

Charlotte Eloise (Kopp) Kindall was born on June 26, 1944 at the Norton County Hospital in Norton, Kansas, the fourth daughter of six born to Alfred and Alice (Hadley) Kopp. She passed away in her home on October 25, 2023 surrounded by her family.

Charlotte was raised on a farm near the Kansas/Nebraska border along with her five sisters. She attended Dry Creek Country School Dist. #117 for first through eighth grade, graduating with classmates Lottie Hawk, Lonesa Wyatt and Bruce Colip. They also went to high school together and graduated in 1961.

On March 30, 1962, Charlotte was united in marriage to David Kindall of rural Norton. They made their home in Norton and were blessed with three sons, Chris, Kem and Kyle. The family soon grew to include seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Charlotte later attended Cloud County Community College and Colby Community College Outreach program to acquire an associate’s degree in applied science. She graduated in May 1993 with honors. She also attended and completed the classes of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organizational Management.

 During her seven years with the Norton Chamber of Commerce, Charlotte served on many state-wide committees promoting Kansas and tourism. She was chosen Business Professional Woman of the Year, “Who’s Who” for U.S. Executives”, and received the Governor's Historical Preservation Award for her work done to refurbish the Adobe Home along with Steve Mathes and Jim Ray.

Survivors include: her husband of sixty-one years, David,their eldest son Chris and his wife Meridel and their son Gaelan, middle son Kem and his daughters McKensy Schroeder and Savanah Horton along with her husband Russhad, and their children Elaina and Noah, youngest son Kyle and his wife Mindy along with their children, granddaughter Kylee Hammond and husband Ryan and her son, Sabastian Coulter, grandsons, Coleman West and Bailey Duvall and fiancé Shasta, and their children Shelby, Dailon, Dayton and Davias.

Also surviving are her sisters Claire Eppinger, Marlene VanMatre, Carolyn Briley, and Kathy Sell, and a host of nieces and nephews and their families.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Alice Kopp, David’s parents Kermit and Evelyn Kindall, sister Gretel and her born sleeping daughter, brothers-in-law Gilbert Janssen, LaDon Eppinger, Jerry VanMatre, Myron Kindall and his wife Peg, sisters-in-law Peggy Kindall, Ferne Demoret and her husband Charles, nephew Derek Pfannenstiel, granddaughter Crescent (Kindall) Elliot.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Norton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m. Monday, October 30, 2023 also at the funeral home.

Charlotte Eloise Kindall



Mary Beth Klippert, 76, died Monday, October 23, 2023, at Prairie Senior Living Complex in Colby, KS. She was born April 12, 1947, in Denver, CO, to Marvin and Mary Jean Westlake.

 She ran a daycare for many years and did home health in Colorado. 

Mary enjoyed playing bingo, doing crafts, crocheting, and quilting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Marvin Westlake, Jr. (Skip) and son Larry D. (Skeeter) Klippert.

Mary is survived by her children, Jeff (Becky) Klippert, of Colby, KS, Kevin (Trudy) Klippert, of LaVista, NE and Tracy (John) Koerperich, of Salina, KS; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and also the loving family she had at Prairie Senior.

The family will have a gathering of friends from 2-4 p.m., Monday, November 6, 2023, at the Holiday Inn Express Conference Room, Colby, KS.

Mary Beth Klippert (Westlake)

Bernita Imogene Sramek Beesley died on October 24, 2023, at Citizens Medical Center, Colby, KS. She was born July 29, 1923, in rural Rawlins County to William F. and Lillie K. (Henkel) Burk. 

She attended three county grade schools: Mayflower, Lone Tree and Prairie Dog. She was a 1940 graduate of McDonald Rural High School and attended Fort Hays State College at Hays, Kansas, earning a teaching certificate and taught at Lone Tree Rural School.

She married Alfred Anthony Sramek on February 24, 1943. He preceded her in death on March 24, 1972 at Rawlins County Hospital. She later married Ray Gorden Beesley on January 29, 1983. He preceded her in death on June 16, 2002 in Quinter, KS.

She was a farmwife, homemaker, mother and a community leader in 4-H Club, Farm Bureau association as a county chairman, district chairwoman, vice-chairman of State Farm Bureau women and state chairwomen. She also served eight years on the 10th District State board. She was a representative of the Agricultural Hall of Fame for NW Kansas. She was an active member of the Catholic Christian Mothers, Altar Society. She served as a Eucharistic minister and as a sacristan at the long-term care home in Quinter for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, parents, two sisters, Eilene Burk (stillborn) and Verna Poore; one brother William (Bill) Paul Burk, who was killed in service in 1950; Bill’s wife Viola, McPherson, KS; and daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Stewart Sramek in 2007.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Jo (Eugene) Schreiner, Mission, KS; Deborah Lynn (David) Henderson, Cabello, New Mexico; one son, Michael William (Shirlee) Sramek and, McDonald, KS. Other survivors include 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; three stepsons, Roger, Donald, and Phillip Beesley and wives; plus many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 9-10:00 a.m., with a rosary at 9:30 a.m., followed by the funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023, at St. John Catholic Church, rural Atwood, KS. Interment will take place in St. John Cemetery, rural Atwood, KS.

Bernita I. Sramek Beesley

Deborah Louise Gansel was born April 19, 1959, in Tawas City, Michigan, the first-born child to Alfred David, Jr. and Rebecca (Stoltenberg) Perry. She was later joined by two younger sisters Cheryl and Katherine. 

David was in the Air Force, which meant as a child, she and her family made several moves. After her father’s passing in the spring of 1973, the family moved back to Hill City to be close to family. Debbie cared for her younger sisters while her mom went to nursing school. 

While attending Hill City High School, she became best friends with Darla (Brandyberry) Goodrow. They have remained close throughout their adult lives. 

On March 10, 1979, Debbie married Michael Horton. They made their home in eastern Texas where he worked in the oilfield, and she was a stay-at-home mom and daycare provider. The couple was blessed with their first child on July 10, 1979, when Michelle Lee entered the world. A few years later, on January 12, 1983, Michael Linn joined the family. 

Debbie was very active with her children and was always seen playing with them, going fishing, and doing fun craft projects. She was also a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader. In October of 1990, Debbie and Mike were divorced and she and her children moved back to Hill City to be close to her mother, Becky.

Once in Hill City, Debbie quickly jumped into the role of a single mother. She worked long hours and nearly every day (often working split shifts) at the Western Hills Restaurant. The customers loved her, and she loved them. The guys at the round table quickly became like family and were often tasked in her children’s teenage years as informants of things that they were trying to keep secret. Debbie always joked with Michelle that she could find out about a mishap before Michelle had time to make up an excuse. Debbie was not only a great mom to her two children, but also took on the role as second mom to many of their friends.

After many declined invitations by her sister Kathy, Debbie finally agreed to go out one night to have a drink and do something besides work. It’s at this time that the romance of Greg and Debbie began. They each have their own version of who caught the other’s attention first, but anyone watching knew what was going to be. The two were engaged July 5, 1991, during a “wonderful” four-day vacation to the cabin in Woodland Park, Colorado. During that time, they traveled to Cripple Creek (before it was a gambling town) and drove miles along Ridge Road enjoying the scenery. The two were married February 14, 1992 at the We’ve Only Just Begun wedding chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Throughout their marriage Greg’s family often said that Debbie was the answer to their prayers and was the best thing that ever happened to him. 

In the summer of 1993, Greg and Debbie moved into Greg’s grandparents’ house following renovations. Debbie worked tirelessly in the yard making flower gardens, an herb garden, and an overall beautiful backyard with a pond to relax in the evenings. Greg was a devoted husband to Debbie throughout their 31 plus years of marriage.

Debbie started working at the United States Postal Service as a mail clerk and city carrier January of 1999. She had always dreamed of this job and had even tested for it while living in Texas prior to her move back to Kansas. So many of her customers remember her for her contagious smile and laugh, no matter how long the line was or how stressed she might have been. Many customers have mentioned during the time of her illness how they missed the TLC that she gave them at the post office. She enjoyed her co-workers just as much and was always excited to take them some sweet treats to enjoy. If there were too many sweets leftover at home, she took them to the post office, and they would disappear.

In May of 1999, Debbie started her journey in her favorite role, that as grandma. She was one of the best around and as she did with her children, she also became a bonus grandma to many of her grandchildren’s friends. She was known by everyone as Grandma Black, a name given to her by her granddaughter Gracie. While Michelle attended nursing school, Grandma Black took great care of Gabi so Michelle could study and work. After Michelle became a nurse, Debbie was often seen picking up her grandchildren from daycare at Tammy VanLoenen’s if work was keeping her late. Debbie often joked how convenient it was to have a backyard next to the daycare her grandbabies attended and often talked to all the children over the shared fence.

Debbie loved nature and enjoyed a good thunderstorm. She enjoyed the change of the seasons (especially spring and fall) but dreaded the cold of the winter. With each spring, she anxiously awaited the opening of the greenhouse so she could purchase more flowers and plants. She had a large collection of indoor house plants that she kept going all year long and seemed to be able to keep anything alive. 

She was also an amazing cook. She rarely followed a recipe but could make everyone’s day with her concoctions. The only thing she hated about cooking was figuring out what to make for supper. She enjoyed hosting Thanksgiving dinners with her family and taking multiple sides to any family dinners. Everyone knew if Debbie was coming, something good was going to be on the table. 

She enjoyed gardening and she and Greg had an amazing vegetable garden for many years. She had flats of tomatoes in the summer for all the family to grab from and then canned enough salsa to feed a small army. 

She was always an early riser, something she “blamed” on working at the restaurant. She was found each morning at the kitchen table drinking her coffee and finishing the crossword puzzle in the Salina Journal. She truly enjoyed playing games with her grandchildren and was often found playing Scrabble and Upwords. They were always excited if they won, as that was quite the accomplishment, although like most grandmas, the rules were a little different when she played games with them.

As winter settled in this past year, Debbie’s health took a turn for the worse. She and her family rallied to fight this illness through the face of so many complications. Debbie passed away October 19, 2023, at the Graham County Hospital.

Debbie was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

Deborah Louise Gansel

Marcella Marie Rohleder, was born July 6, 1931, at Quinter Hospital in Quinter, Kansas. She was the first child born to Edward and Goldie (Blackwill) Norton.

She met the love of her life Frank Rohleder in Park, Kansas in the summer of 1948. Their first date was a blind date to the movies with friends. 

Upon graduating from Park High School in 1949, Marcella attended beauty school in Salina, Kansas. 

Frank and Marcella kept in touch and once her schooling was complete, they married on August 30, 1950, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Park Kansas. They enjoyed 71+ years of married life.

The happy couple moved to Aurora, Colorado in November 1955. Marcella worked from home raising their family and contributed by ironing and doing hair out of their home.

One of Marcella’s passions was volunteering which she did for St. Therese Catholic Church, Aurora Presbyterian Hospital and Christian Women’s Club, to name a few. In 2003, Marcella was honored by the city of Aurora for her outstanding and lifelong commitment to volunteer work. 

Marcella led by example loving her family and friends unconditionally. She never turned anyone away that needed help. Her greatest joy was in having a house full of family for special occasions or holidays. Her bright light and love will be missed and cherished by all.

Marcella went to heaven to join her devoted husband Frank on October 8, 2023. 

She is survived by her five children, Marylyn Young, Gary Rohleder, Randy Rohleder, Sharon (Terry) Andrews, Lyle (Julie) Rohleder and dozens of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as her sisters, Louella Sullivan, Armella Wetig and Verdella Lewis and their families.

Graveside services will be held Monday, November 6 at 11:00 a.m. at the WaKeeney Veteran's Cemetery followed by a reception from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the WaKeeney V.F.W. Her favorite color was purple, so you are encouraged to wear that color if you have it.

 </figure>July 6, 1931 - October 8, 2023Marcella Marie Rohleder, was born July 6, 1931, at Quinter Hospital in Quinter, Kansas. She was the first child born to Edward and Goldie (Blackwill) Norton.She met the love of her life Frank Rohleder in Park, Kansas in the summer of 1948. Their first date was a blind date to the movies with friends. Upon graduating from Park High School in 1949, Marcella attended beauty school in Salina, Kansas. Frank and Marcella kept in touch and once her schooling was complete, they married on August 30, 1950, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Park Kansas. They enjoyed 71+ years of married life.The happy couple moved to Aurora, Colorado in November 1955. Marcella Marie Rohleder

Viola “Vi” (Moeder) Prosser, 90, loving wife, mother, grandmother and faithfully devoted to her Lord and Savior, was welcomed to her heavenly home on Thursday, October 26, 2023. &nbsp;

Viola was born December 23, 1932 and was one of ten siblings. &nbsp;

Vi married Francis Prosser on June 2, 1956 in Odin and they raised five children. They were married for sixty-one years. Following Frank’s death in 2017, Vi continued to live on and operate their family farm.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Altar Society. Vi was passionate about her work as a volunteer for the Knights of Columbus, Pawnee Valley Hospital Auxiliary, Pawnee County Fair Board, Zoning Commission, Red Cross Blood Drive, and as a CASA Advocate.

She is survived by her children, Kim (Kurt) Breitenbach of Wichita, Patty (Michael) Minear of Wichita, Ed (Kelley) Prosser of Omaha, Nancy Baker (Steve Tatum) of Wichita, and Mike (Wendy) Prosser of Omaha; Grandchildren Annie (Zach) Lahn, Steven (Georgia) Jones, Alex (Molly) Breitenbach, Elizabeth (Drew) Prosser, Sam (Sarah) Breitenbach, Luke Minear, Avery Shepherd, Grant Shepherd, Maggie Prosser, Joe Prosser and Katie Prosser; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Rich Moeder, Great Bend, Eddie Moeder, Hutchinson, Larry (Jan) Moeder, Great Bend and a sister, Mary Ann Fisher, Plainville

Viola 'Vi' (Moeder) Prosser

Tylor John Schultz, aka T.J. or Too Tall, 33, lived in Jetmore, KS. He was a 2008 graduate from William S. Hart High School in Newhall, CA.

On October 20, 2023, Tylor passed away in his home, due to a pulmonary embolism.

Tylor was born on April 26, 1990 at Fort Lewis, WA to Mark A. Schultz and Lorie D. Schultz. Tylor grew up as a military child, going here and there. 

After graduation, Tylor joined the Army and served si years. He did two deployments overseas. After Tylor was discharged, he went on to be a sheriff's deputy and a correctional officer. Tylor loved to spend time with his family and friends. 

Tylor had recently re-committed himself to the Lord and was going to be baptized Sunday, October 29, 2023. Tylor loved his country and community with a huge heart. He was the kind of guy to give the shirt off his back to those in need and he will be forever loved and missed.

Tylor was a part of the VFW, NRA and the Three Percenters. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Scott City, KS.

Tylor John Schultz was preceded in death by his father, Mark A. Schultz, grandmother Gloria Schultz, grandfather John Schultz, grandmother Loretta Johnson and aunt Paula Henderson.

Tylor is survived by his mother, Lorie Westbrook of Idalou, Tx, his stepmother, Wendy Price of Parker, Colorado and grandfather, Donald Morlan of McClave, Colorado;&nbsp; his children, Tylor John Schultz, Jr., of Pensacola, Florida, Emmalyn Rose Schultz and Eveleigh Michelle Schultz of Jetmore, Kansas and Jarrod Wade Kingan of Jetmore, Kansas.

Siblings are Amanda and Steven Seig of Temple, TX, Cannon and Kayla Schultz of Tacoma, WA, Chelsea and Shamus Smith of Scott City, KS, Thomas and Danielle Carney of Scott City, KS, Justin Schultz of Parker, CO, Matthew Schultz of Parker, CO and Bryten Westbrook of Idalou, TX.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Scott City, Kansas. Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. with military honors at Kansas Veterans Cemetery at Fort Dodge, KS.&nbsp;

Janice Elaine Stoppel, 89, of Russell, Kansas, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, in Russell, Kansas.

Janice was born on September 27, 1934, in Russell, Kansas, the daughter of Albert E. and Amelia C. (Meier) Strecker. 

A lifelong resident of Russell, she graduated from Russell High School in 1952.

 </figure>September 27, 1934 - October 25, 2023Janice Elaine Stoppel, 89, of Russell, Kansas, died peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, in Russell, Kansas.Janice was born on September 27, 1934, in Russell, Kansas, the daughter of Albert E. and Amelia C. (Meier) Strecker. A lifelong resident of Russell, she graduated from Russell High School in 1952. She married the love of her life Bennie Dean Stoppel on October 20, 1957, in Russell. Janice and Bennie were blessed with three sons Brad, Blaine, and Mike. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church and was an active member of the Women’s Circle and Altar Guild.Janice was dedicated to her family and loved cooking for her family and creating a home where everyone was welcome. Janice was happiest when her house was full of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Most of all her sons loved her wry sense of humor and sharp wit. Over the years, the boys brought home many of their friends and judging team buddies, some of which were known to stay at the house for weeks at a time. They loved meals with the family and their conversations with Janice. She was a master organizer and the four men in her life tested those skills every day. Everyone knew that once Janice made a decision or commitment, she followed through with dogged determination. Janice and Bennie never missed a game, a 4-H meeting, the Russell County Fair, the FFA banquets and the FFA state convention. Janice and Bennie enjoyed the Young Farmers Group and spending time with other ag families in the community. They played cards with friends, and loved attending the fair convention in Topeka. She loved to dance and claimed that Bennie was the best dancer in the world, a fact she was not hesitant to point out to her sons.While working at Home State Bank and the county treasurer's office, she was known for being able to strike up a conversation with anyone. Those who encountered her, got to know her sense of humor and sharp wit well.Surviving family include her sons Brad Stoppel and wife Sherri and Blaine Stoppel and wife Kim, all of Russell, Kansas and Mike Stoppel (Charlene Rein-Murphy) of Paola, Kansas; grandchildren Brooke Whitney (Brandon), Blake Stoppel (Jessica), Brady Stoppel (Kaitlyn), Payton and Garret (Kylie) Stoppel and Lily Higgins; seven great-grandchildren Ainsley, Chloe, Colt, Coy, Reata, Brantley and Reinhardt Stoppel. She is also survived by her brother Richard Strecker and wife Judy of Wichita, Kansas.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bennie, her parents Albert and Amelia Strecker and her brother Kenneth Strecker.A celebration of Janice’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 30, 2023, at the St. John Lutheran Church in Russell, Kansas.
