Grow Hays is thrilled to announce it has been awarded a substantial Capital Project Funds grant of $3,597,250 from the Kansas Children’s Cabinet and Trust Fund for the construction of The Grove Community Center in Hays.

The Grove Community Center is set to become a cornerstone of the Hays community, providing essential services and resources to improve the lives of local residents. Hays' Grove housing development receives $3.6 M grant for community center

BUNKER HILL – “The Dolly Madison Murders” is a new documentary which will air on Smoky Hills PBS on&nbsp;Saturday, October 28 at 8 p.m. and then re-air on October 31 at 10 p.m.

“We are able to bring another great local documentary to Smoky Hills PBS because of the support from our viewers!”&nbsp;said Betsy Schwien, Smoky Hills PBS general manager.&nbsp; “This is a must see for everyone as it takes a deep dive into an unsolved murder case right here in Kansas.”

This documentary goes back to September 2002, where two women were found dead inside the Dolly Madison bakery in Great Bend. Twenty years later, a filmmaker who grew up near the bakery, is determined to shed light on the case and find justice for the victims. With interviews, evidence analysis, and community involvement, the film investigates potential suspects, including someone who may be hiding in plain sight.

Smoky Hills PBS to air documentary on Great Bend's 'Dolly Madison' murders

The unemployment rate in Ellis County and across the region is down slightly for September, according to the latest labor report.

The jobless rate in Ellis County dropped from 2.4 percent in August to 2.2 percent in September. 

Rooks County unemployment dropped by .5 percent to 2.8 percent. Trego County unemployment dropped by. 6 percent to 3 percent. Russell and Rush counties' jobless rates were 2.7 percent.

No county in the northwest region of the state had a jobless rate of more than 3.1 percent.

Preliminary estimates reported by the Labor Market Information Services division of the Kansas Department of Labor and the Bureau of Labor Statistics show a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 2.8 percent in September.

This is an increase from 2.7 percent in August and a decrease from 2.9 percent in September 2022.

“The September unemployment rate was 2.8 percent,” said Secretary Amber Shultz. “This was a decrease from 2.9 percent a year ago and unchanged from the end of the second quarter.”

Seasonally adjusted job estimates for Kansas indicate total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 4,200 from August. Total nonfarm includes private sector and government employers. Private sector jobs increased by 4,000 over the month, while government increased by 200.

“Kansas nonfarm jobs showed little change over the month in September,” said labor economist, Nathan Kessler. “Despite relatively flat growth throughout 2023, Kansas has added 22,200 jobs since September 2022.”

Since September 2022 Kansas’ seasonally adjusted total nonfarm jobs have increased by 22,200. This change is due to an increase of 16,000 private sector jobs and an increase of 6,200 government jobs.

Unemployment rates down across northwest Kansas

A new Hays local liquor store seeks to offer a unique selection of wine, liquor, beer and cigars conveniently located near Interstate 70.

Lauren Mack and Josh Tanguay opened <a href="https://stonehousespiritandcigar.com/">Stone House Spirit &amp; Cigar</a>, 4320 Vine, in a 3,000-square-foot storefront at Tebo Village and hope to make their mark with a unique selection of regional and carefully selected brands.

The couple said they saw a need for a liquor store in north Hays with easy access to the interstate.

"That is one of the things that we're passionate about is the experience that liquor and cigars bring for people," Mack said. "For us, it is trying new things and experiencing those different pieces."

Tanguay, who has a continuing therapy practice, and Mack, who has an ongoing vet practice, said they have been working toward the store since spring 2022.

The store offers daily tastings of a variety of wines and liquors. The wine samples are in a special dispenser that features both white and red samples.

"We want to share a great bottle with a friend or as a gift, and that is where the inspiration comes from," Mack said.

She said the store focuses on creating a great cocktail or having a great bottle of wine. However, the store also has a walk-in beer cave and carries craft, domestic and imported beers.

"It doesn't have to be expensive to be great," Mack said. "Those are not synonymous things. We have many great bottles of wine. We have one that we have already sold a case of. It's a $12.99 bottle, and it's amazing. It would rival any red."

She said she wants to have quality across the price points.

"I want someone who is new to wine to find something that is approachable at the right price," Mack said. "All the way up to someone who is a really dedicated cabernet drinker."

Withco is a mixer line from the southeast. This month the store is featuring old fashioneds, which&nbsp;Tanguay said is still the most popular cocktail in America. Withco makes a mixer for old fashioneds. Simple Times is another mixer line the store carries.

The store also commissioned a Stone House Single Barrel Whiskey that was specially bottled for the store.

"We think a lot of people love great cocktails, but not a lot of people want to put in the patience and effort to be really good at-home bartenders," Tanguay said. "It's a lot of work, and it's kind of expensive.

"There are a lot of higher-end mixers out there that are really good."

The couple has tested more than 40 of the products for the store. If they would not buy it again, they didn't stock it in the store, Mack said.

If you need bartending accessories, Stone House has that too. This includes Lolita Glassware, which is handpainted.

The store has a large dedicated section of all local wine and liquors, as well as a beer-cave door dedicated to local beers, including Hays' Defiance Brewing.

Other Kansas names include Boot Hill, Shiloh Winery, Smoky Hill Winery and Grace Hill Winery.

"We want something you can't get somewhere else," Mack said. "When we travel we go look for products like that. I don't want the products I can get at home. I want to try something unique to the region."

The store has multiple cigar humidors, which are calibrated to maintain the correct temperature and humidity for the products.

Tanguay said he also wanted to keep the cigar selection accessible. The store also offers cigars at a variety of price points for beginners to connoisseurs.&nbsp;

The store buys its cigars directly from manufacturers. Tanguay said he believes this will allow Stone House to carry some labels other stores may not. The store also carries cigar accessories.

In the past, Mack said she would have loved to buy her husband cigars as a gift but never knew before what to choose. The staff at the store can help shoppers in their selection process.

In designing the Stone House space, the couple focused on a shopping experience that you might not find in other liquor stores. They widened the aisles and took advantage of natural light as much as possible. You also won't find a design cluttered with neon or alcohol branding signs.&nbsp;

The name Stone House was inspired by the limestone homes and buildings in Kansas. A portion of the interior is decorated in native limestone.

The store has a <a href="https://stonehousespiritandcigar.com/">website</a> and will be launching an app soon. The store will offer online ordering for pickup. A cigar loyalty program will launch with the app. The store also carries ice.

Store hours are 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and noon to 8 p.m. Sundays.

Stone House Spirit, Cigar offers diverse selection from local beer to speciality liquors, wines

Calling all space adventurers! Put on your Halloween costumes and join the Hays Symphony at its annual children’s concert on Sunday, October 29, at the Fort Hays State University Beach/Schmidt Center for the Performing Arts. The free concert has become a family tradition over the past seven years, offering an afternoon of music, drama, hands-on activities, and festivities for everyone.&nbsp;

“This year the symphony decided on the theme of space”, said Cathy Drabkin, publicity chair for the group. “We commissioned Hays playwright Catherine Trieschmann to create a musical drama with the prompt of “What would happen if an alien heard the music from Earth that was sent to space on the 1977 US Voyager I spacecraft?”&nbsp;

As a result, Trieschmann has written “The Golden Record,” an original musical comedy in which six aliens travel to our solar system in search of beautiful music. The production will be directed by Erin Renard, and features middle-school students in the alien roles. The symphony’s music which accompanies the story will include selections from The Planets, by Gustav Holst, the theme from the movie E.T., and first movement from Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto #2.

The symphony has also partnered with several FHSU departments and student groups and community organizations to offer a wide range of pre-concert activities in the lobby and the outside courtyard of Beach/Schmidt Auditorium.

FHSU students from STEM Education Club will be setting up several science education stations featuring hands-on activities with sound waves, with planetary orbits, and on the Voyager spacecraft.&nbsp; “We are so excited to share science activities and experiences with the community of Hays,” said Dr. Matthew Clay, assistant professor of teacher education at FHSU. “This is a great opportunity for our students to have a chance to experience working with so many children as they prepare for their careers as educators.”

The FHSU Science &amp; Mathematics Education Institute will offer digital planetarium shows for school-age children in the auditorium lobby. The shows require advance reservations through the symphony’s website.&nbsp;

The FHSU student chapter of the National Association of Music Educators (NAfME) is presenting Music in Orbit, a movement and music session featuring pieces performed in the concert, and offering a space-themed arts and crafts activity.&nbsp;

In addition, FHSU music education major Mackenzie Bowers and Associate Professor of Music Dr. Laura Andrews have created a comprehensive listening guide on The Planets which parents and students can use in advance of the concert to learn more about the music being performed. The guide which has been sent to general music educators throughout the region, is also available on the symphony’s website.

Pre-concert activities will also include a stringed instrument petting zoo organized by symphony musicians, a ukelele demonstration presented by Studio 809, a space-themed story hour with the Hays Public Library staff and bookmobile, a drumming circle set up by FHSU percussion students, Meet the Brass and Meet the Woodwinds sessions offered by FHSU music students, and a Halloween costume parade. The first 350 children to arrive also receive a free trick-or-treat bag provided by Werth Wealth Management.

Put on your Halloween costumes and join the Hays Symphony at its annual children’s concert on Sunday, October 29, at the Fort Hays State University Beach/Schmidt Center for the Performing Arts. The free concert has become a family tradition over the past seven years, offering an afternoon of music, drama, hands-on activities, and festivities for everyone.&nbsp;“This year the symphony decided on the theme of space”, said Cathy Drabkin, publicity chair for the group. “We commissioned Hays playwright Catherine Trieschmann to create a musical drama with the prompt of “What would happen if an alien heard the music from Earth that was sent to space on the 1977 US Voyager I spacecraft?”&nbsp;As a result, Trieschmann has written “The Golden Record,” an original musical comedy in which six aliens travel to our solar system in search of beautiful music. The production will be directed by Erin Renard, and features middle-school students in the alien roles. The symphony’s music which accompanies the story will include selections from The Planets, by Gustav Holst, the theme from the movie E.T., and first movement from Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto #2.The symphony has also partnered with several FHSU departments and student groups and community organizations to offer a wide range of pre-concert activities in the lobby and the outside courtyard of Beach/Schmidt Auditorium.FHSU students from STEM Education Club will be setting up several science education stations featuring hands-on activities with sound waves, with planetary orbits, and on the Voyager spacecraft.&nbsp; “We are so excited to share science activities and experiences with the community of Hays,” said Dr. Matthew Clay, assistant professor of teacher education at FHSU. “This is a great opportunity for our students to have a chance to experience working with so many children as they prepare for their careers as educators.”The FHSU Science &amp; Mathematics Education Institute will offer digital planetarium shows for school-age children in the auditorium lobby. The shows require advance reservations through the symphony’s website.&nbsp;The FHSU student chapter of the National Association of Music Educators (NAfME) is presenting Music in Orbit, a movement and music session featuring pieces performed in the concert, and offering a space-themed arts and crafts activity.&nbsp;In addition, FHSU music education major Mackenzie Bowers and Associate Professor of Music Dr. Laura Andrews have created a comprehensive listening guide on The Planets which parents and students can use in advance of the concert to learn more about the music being performed. The guide which has been sent to general music educators throughout the region, is also available on the symphony’s website.Pre-concert activities will also include a stringed instrument petting zoo organized by symphony musicians, a ukelele demonstration presented by Studio 809, a space-themed story hour with the Hays Public Library staff and bookmobile, a drumming circle set up by FHSU percussion students, Meet the Brass and Meet the Woodwinds sessions offered by FHSU music students, and a Halloween costume parade. Fort Hays State University’s next Science Café will be held on Oct. 30.

On Nov. 2, a Fort Hays State University Leadership 310 team will be hosting a 3v3 basketball tournament at the Hays Recreation Commission, 1105 Canterbury. 

All the proceeds will benefit First Call for Help’s food and hygiene pantry. This serves those in need in Ellis County.

We are working on getting teams signed up right now. We are looking for businesses/groups/student organizations to join in. Teams can either fundraise their registration fee of $100/team or the business they are representing can sponsor them. Teams will be asked to fundraise additionally on top of their registration fee. 

There will be prizes for both the top fundraising team and the winner of the tournament. We plan to start check-in at 5 p.m. and games will begin by 5:30 p.m. that day. There will also be concessions available for purchase during the event.

If anyone would like to sign a team up or sponsor a team, they can contact First Call for Help at 785-623-2800.

Top fundraising team will receive an office pizza party (up to 20 people).

Winner of the basketball tournament will receive their registration fee back.

🎙 Post Podcast: USD 489 Foundation's Project 489 Auction set for Oct. 21

&nbsp;On October 7, Jana’s Campaign hosted their annual fundraising event, "Empty Place at the Table." The evening was an extraordinary success, raising a total of $80,815.84. 

This remarkable event has rapidly gained a reputation as one of the premier gala gatherings in the Hays community. It serves a dual purpose: raising both awareness and essential funds for Jana’s Campaign's mission of preventing domestic and dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. 

The 2023 gala had an added layer of significance, as it commemorated the fifteenth-year anniversary of Jana’s death and the creation of Jana’s Campaign. 

The evening was a celebration of program successes and an acknowledgment of the remarkable journey the organization has undertaken. 

Moreover, it marked a milestone in our mission to prevent gender and relationship violence as we had the privilege of providing bystander intervention training programming to all freshman students at Hays High School for the eighth year, the same week of the event. This initiative aligns with our commitment to fostering a culture of respect and actively involving the community in this work. 

"To be in a room filled with individuals who understand the vital importance of preventing gender-based violence but are also wholeheartedly dedicated to making a difference is incredibly inspiring," remarked Kaiti Blackburn, Jana’s Campaign executive director. "With the funds raised during this event, we are poised to achieve remarkable strides in our mission." 

Jana’s Campaign, headquartered in Hays is a national education and gender-based violence prevention organization established in memory of Jana Mackey. Jana, a 25-year-old law student at the University of Kansas, lost her life in 2008 at the hands of an ex-boyfriend. Her memory fuels the organization's commitment to preventing such tragedies and fostering safer communities. 

The resounding success of this year's "Empty Place at the Table" is a testament to the unwavering support of this community. Jana’s Campaign extends its gratitude to all who volunteered, participated, and donated to this important cause. Together, we can create a world free from gender and relationship violence.

The evening was an extraordinary success, raising a total of $80,815.84. This remarkable event has rapidly gained a reputation as one of the premier gala gatherings in the Hays community. It serves a dual purpose: raising both awareness and essential funds for Jana’s Campaign's mission of preventing domestic and dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The 2023 gala had an added layer of significance, as it commemorated the fifteenth-year anniversary of Jana’s death and the creation of Jana’s Campaign. The evening was a celebration of program successes and an acknowledgment of the remarkable journey the organization has undertaken. Moreover, it marked a milestone in our mission to prevent gender and relationship violence as we had the privilege of providing bystander intervention training programming to all freshman students at Hays High School for the eighth year, the same week of the event. This initiative aligns with our commitment to fostering a culture of respect and actively involving the community in this work. "To be in a room filled with individuals who understand the vital importance of preventing gender-based violence but are also wholeheartedly dedicated to making a difference is incredibly inspiring," remarked Kaiti Blackburn, Jana’s Campaign executive director. "With the funds raised during this event, we are poised to achieve remarkable strides in our mission." Jana’s Campaign, headquartered in Hays is a national education and gender-based violence prevention organization established in memory of Jana Mackey. Jana, a 25-year-old law student at the University of Kansas, lost her life in 2008 at the hands of an ex-boyfriend. Her memory fuels the organization's commitment to preventing such tragedies and fostering safer communities. The resounding success of this year's "Empty Place at the Table" is a testament to the unwavering support of this community. 7th annual Hays Area Toy Run is Oct. 28; all cyclists welcome

A children’s song by musician Randy Sauer, Hays, wins in The Artists Forum Music Competition based out of New York.&nbsp; 

The song “Fits Just Right” was selected as a finalist with nine other songs from around the world and on October 15 it was selected as a winner in the Children’s/Holiday/Novelty Category.

In 2022 Sauer’s song “We All Have Feelings” was a finalist in the same competition.&nbsp;Sauer and his wife, Niki, traveled to New York for the awards ceremony last year but it did not win. 

“Fits Just Right” is a song about how being a grandparent fits Sauer just right and how he loves spending time with the grandkids. 

This is the second award for this song.&nbsp; In 2022, “Fits Just Right” won Best Children’s Songwriter in the Indie Music Channel Awards out of Hollywood, California.&nbsp;

Presently, Sauer is a music teacher in WaKeeney, and teaches 6-12 instrumental music, guitar and an audio/video technology class. He was selected as the 2013 - 2014 and 2019-2020 Outstanding Elementary Music Teacher by the Northwest Kansas Music Educators Association. Randy has won over 50 children's songwriting awards.&nbsp;

The Artists Forum Music Competition is open to musical artists of all genres seeking to gain exposure in the New York City and international music and media markets.

Its mission is to provide an accessible platform for songwriters and composers to present their best work for juried selection, increase artist communication and business contacts, provide career advancement opportunities, and publicly acknowledge talented artists in an industry-saturated arena.&nbsp;

Each submission, reviewed by a panel of industry professionals, is rated upon its individual merits. Finalists in each category are judged against one another and a winner declared.

The Artists Forum, Inc., now in its 25th year, is a New York City-based non-profit arts service organization specializing in events, juried competitions, and media for artists. Hays musician wins national contest with song about being a grandfather

More information will be shared with the Hays city commission today on the plans for a new travel plaza to be built north of Interstate 70 at the west Exit 157.

Triplett, Inc., Salina, is requesting tax increment financing,&nbsp; a community improvement district, and industrial revenue bonds as outlined in the city's economic development policy.

Kim Rupp, city finance director, will discuss a public hearing date and ordinance establishing the tax increment financing district.&nbsp;The primary effect of passing the 0rdinance is locking in the base year assessed valuation of the project site.

Due to the planned reconstruction of the interchange at Exit 157 by the Kansas Department of Transportation, a waterline will have to be relocated. 

Collin Bielser, deputy city manager, has more highlights of this afternoon's work session.

🎥 City to hear more about financing plans of new travel plaza north of I-70  

Midwest Energy has been named as a selectee of a $97 million U.S. Department of Energy Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships grant, to provide upgrades in substations and to rebuild 150 miles of transmission lines across seven western Kansas counties.

Under the terms of the grant, Midwest Energy will address $145 million in transmission system and substation protection upgrades, with $97 million in grant funding from DoE. 

Projects must be completed within five years and will focus on several 115 kilovolt transmission lines primarily in Rush, Ness, Ellis, Graham, Sheridan, Thomas and Rawlins counties, as well as upgrades to relay and protection equipment in substations in Hodgeman, Stafford, Ness and Ellis counties.

“This grant will help keep rates affordable for our customers as we address projects where assets are nearing the end of their service lives,” said Patrick Parke, Midwest Energy’s CEO. “Our customers and our communities will benefit as our system is improved through better reliability, increased line capacity to facilitate renewable energy access, and mitigated wildfire risk.”

The grant to Midwest is part of $10.5 billion being made available through DoE under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, to improve the resilience of the power system against growing threats of extreme weather and climate change, and to ensure American communities have access to affordable, reliable and clean electricity.

Parke noted that several organizations wrote letters of support for the grant application stating how they would be positively impacted by the project’s goals. These included the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 304; the City of Hays; the Rush County Commission; Kansas State University and Fort Hays State University; High Plains Mental Health; the Citizens Utility Ratepayer Board, and ENGIE North America, a renewable energy developer.

“Having support for our application from such a broad spectrum of labor, educational, local government, community services and renewable energy groups underscores the impact these projects will have on Kansas,” Parke said. “We also thank Senators Jerry Mora and Roger Marshall for their strong support of our application, and for ensuring Kansas received consideration for these historic grants.”

Midwest Energy is an electric and natural gas cooperative serving 50,000 electric and 43,000 natural gas customers, located in 40 central and western Kansas counties. Midwest Energy also provides transmission services to several other electric cooperatives and municipal utility systems.

I love finding a great read. The more books I finish, the harder that seems, but thanks to the Kansas Room Director at the Hays Public Library, I found a book to buy for my personal library so I can revisit it any time I want.

Local history buffs meet in the Kansas room every Thursday, and this director overhears discussions that cover everything from Volga German and Bukovina immigration to The Flippers to fossils to where’d the bones from Boot Hill get relocated. Apparently, he observed I love wildlife topics past and present so one day he handed me Dan Flores’ "American Serengeti: The Last Big Animals of the Great Plains."

There wasn’t any magic in figuring I’d love this book. I’m an avid Great Plains and natural history student and conversations regarding these topics grab my attention. It doesn’t hurt to toss in archeological and paleontological details. Bless my parents and later my husband for numerous side trips leading to Indian ruins, museums, petroglyphs, dinosaur tracks, mammoth, fossil fish, and other prehistoric beast digs, and wildlife sightings.

I happily report Flores takes readers through Great Plains natural history from before the Pleistocene to the present. His solid research logically debunks myth and supports points with evidence. While I felt he pushed uncomfortable boundaries involving reinstituting an American Serengeti, Flores makes me think and explore additional sources to develop those thoughts.

Reading his chapters on the pronghorn, coyote, horse, grizzly, bison, and wolf had me repeatedly flipping pages to revisit interesting points. For instance, in grade school, I learned about dawn horse and how it began in North America. Somehow, I forgot equines are native to North America and followed the narrative that Spaniards introduced them to the New World. Flores’ horse chapter reminded me these creatures actually began on this continent’s grasslands and grazed alongside bison herds once they returned.

Years earlier, I learned how pronghorn eye placement and speed resulted as they evolved to escape large, swift cats like saber-tooth tigers that haven’t lived in North America since the Pleistocene. Flores reminded me that despite a lack of serious predators, speedgoats see and outrun any perceived threat.

As a 6th generation Kansan familiar with historic buffalo ranges, I read and reread the bison chapter, which altered several of my pre-conceived notions. Flores focused on statistics involving climatology, economics, cultural practices, disease, and more regarding this population’s repeated waxing and waning. Text books and popular culture had drilled into me the simple reason for the species’ near demise—the U.S. government wanted them wiped out to destroy natives’ resources. After reading and reviewing the author’s citations, I see that, like much history, explanations are more complicated than they initially appear. 

Citing numerous reliable resources, he debunks the theory that the government via the military supported destroying all buffalo. Flores’ citation of General Sheridan who wrote, “I consider it important that this wholesale slaughter of the Buffalo should be stopped” forced me to rethink what I’d learned about him. Flores’ research reveals multiple players and rationales in this tragedy.

While this book won’t interest all readers, anyone who loves the prairie and seeks natural history and wildlife knowledge will find new tangents to explore. It’s not too academic—but--you can’t watch Guardians of the Galaxy and follow this text at the same time.

For myself with 4-H work, partnerships with our local recreation centers, libraries, and school districts are invaluable. Our Family and Community Wellness agents also partner with health departments, medical providers, and day care facilities to provide a wide variety of services. Our ag and natural resources agents work with ag cooperatives, livestock producers and facilities, and many others in the ag service industries. 

We partner to provide programming for a wide audience across the Cottonwood Extension District.&nbsp;Extension is literally the extension of research from and for the land-grant university. As our community, you have an opportunity&nbsp;to participate in regional community visits with administration from Kansas State University.

The regional community visit initiative focuses on the people of Kansas and their communities. K-State is visiting multiple communities throughout the state to listen to and learn from the Kansans who live here.&nbsp;

Visits for the Cottonwood Extension District include a community open forum on Tuesday, November 7th, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Great Bend Events Center. On Wednesday, November 8th, a water management session will be held at the Kansas Wetlands Education Center from 9-10 a.m. Also on Wednesday, November 8, child-care partnerships will be a focus of a discussion in Hays from 11:30-1. Fort Hays State University's National Student Speech-Language Hearing Association will host its 3rd&nbsp;annual Soup Fest fundraiser Oct. 20 from 5-7 p.m. in the Albertson Hall Lobby. The association is a student organization in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. 

Proceeds from the event will go to offset expenses of families with children receiving services at the FHSU Herndon Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic.

The clinic’s primary purpose is to provide undergraduate students in communications sciences and disorders and graduate students majoring in speech-language pathology hands-on experience providing services in speech, language, and hearing.

Soup Fest is open to the public. The cost is $10 for three samples and one bowl of soup, dessert, and drink. Attendees are encouraged to vote on their favorite soup and tour the Herndon Clinic.

“Soup Fest has been a great way to reach out to the community in a fun and friendly way, while providing awareness of the Herndon Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic and fundraising for our client scholarships,” said Ciara Kern, graduate student and National Student Speech-Language Hearing Association member. “As a student, it is an exciting time to interact with the community while enjoying some wonderful soup.”
