NEW YORK (AP) — Prosecutors say R. Kelly, the R&amp;B superstar known for his anthem “I Believe I Can Fly,” deserves at least 25 years behind bars for sexually abusing women and girls. 

They demanded the sentence on Wednesday in advance of his sentencing later this month.

 A New York City jury found Kelly guilty of racketeering and multiple other counts last year at a sex-trafficking trial that was seen as a signature moment in the #MeToo movement. 

Kelly’s lawyers have argued that he deserves only a maximum of about 17 years.

(AP) A New York woman searching for her lost dog got a surprise when it was found by Oscar-winning actor Hilary Swank. 

While filming a movie in Albany, the actor reunited a lost pooch with distraught owner Chelsea Blackwell. 

She was searching for her missing dachshund, Blue, on Monday when she came upon a film crew. 

She began asking if anyone had seen her dog. 

The crew told her one of the stars had found her dog. Soon, a car pulled up and there was the missing the dog happily sitting on Swank's lap. Swank has a history of adopting dogs.

NEW YORK (AP) — Foo Fighters will honor the rock band’s late drummer Taylor Hawkins with a pair of tribute concerts in September, with one in London and the other in Los Angeles.

The twin shows will take place Sept. 3 at London’s Wembley Stadium and Sept. 27 at The Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, featuring “his bandmates and his inspirations playing the songs that he fell in love with, and the ones he brought to life,” the band said in a statement. 

Lineups for each show will be announced at a later date.

Drew Brees is officially done at NBC Sports after one year. 

NBC Sports chairman Pete Bevacqua says in a phone interview with The Associated Press that Brees will not be a part of the network’s NFL and Notre Dame coverage this year. 

The New York Post reported last month that the former quarterback would not be coming back as a studio or game analyst. 

Brees took to social media following that report and said he had not decided his future. 

Bevacqua says conversations with Brees have centered around him wanting to spend more time with family.

The Chrisleys were initially indicted in August 2019, and the trial began three weeks ago. 

The U.S. attorney's office in Atlanta said a jury found the pair guilty of all charges Tuesday. 

Prosecutors say the stars of “Chrisley Knows Best” submitted false documents to banks to get loans and failed to pay federal income taxes for multiple years. 

An accountant who worked for them also was found guilty. Sentencing for all three is set for Oct. 6.

NEW YORK (AP) — A specially commissioned, unburnable edition of Margaret Atwood’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” has been auctioned for $130,000, Sotheby’s announced Tuesday. 

Proceeds will be donated to PEN America, which advocates for free expression.

 The 384-page book consists mainly of Cinefoil, a specially treated aluminum product, and was announced last month at PEN’s annual fundraising gala. 

To help promote the initiative, Atwood agreed to be filmed attempting — unsuccessfully — to incinerate a prototype with a flame thrower. 

“I’m very pleased that the one-of-a-kind Unburnable Book of ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ has raised so much money for PEN America,” Atwood said in a statement.

NEW YORK (AP) — Jim Seals, who teamed with fellow musician “Dash” Crofts on such 1970s soft-rock hits as “Summer Breeze,” “Diamond Girl” and “We May Never Pass This Way Again,” has died at age 80. 

His death was announced Tuesday by several people including John Ford Coley, who had formed the ‘70s duo England Dan and John Ford Coley with Seals’ older brother Dan. 

Seals and Darrell George “Dash” Crofts were Texas natives who had known each other since they were teenagers and had previously been in the Champs. 

They formed Seals and Crofts in the late 1960s.

But until recently she had spared herself the nightmare of trying to burn one of her own books.

On Monday night, during PEN America’s annual gala, Atwood and Penguin Random House announced that a one-off, unburnable edition of “The Handmaid’s Tale” would be auctioned through Sotheby’s New York. 

They launched the initiative with a brief video that shows Atwood attempting in vain to incinerate her classic novel about a totalitarian patriarchy. 

Proceeds will be donated to PEN, which advocates for free expression around the world.

OAK BLUFFS, Mass. (AP) — A man who as a child had a brief but key role in “Jaws” has been named police chief on the Massachusetts island on which the 1975 movie was partially filmed. 

Jonathan Searle was offered the job of police chief in Oak Bluffs on Martha’s Vineyard last week. 

Searle was a sergeant with Edgartown police. 

He told the Vineyard Gazette he is elated, humbled and honored. 

The movie centers on the efforts of a police chief in a fictional resort town trying to rid the local waters of a killer shark. 

Searle played one of two boys who send beachgoers into a panic with a fake shark’s fin.

NEW YORK (AP) — The folks who hand out Tony Awards believe five is not enough for Angela Lansbury. 

The Tony Awards Administration Committee announced Monday that the legendary actor will receive a 2022 special Tony for lifetime achievement in the theater, making it her sixth. 

Lansbury made her Broadway debut in 1957 in “Hotel Paradiso” and won Tonys for “Mame” in 1966, “Dear World” in 1969, “Gypsy” in 1974, “Sweeney Todd” in 1979 and “Blithe Spirit” in 2009. 

Other Broadway credits include “A Little Night Music,” “Gore Vidal’s The Best Man” and “Anyone Can Whistle.”

Martin Freeman stars as a deeply troubled English police officer in “The Responder,” debuting Tuesday, on the Britbox streaming service. “Navalny,” the riveting documentary about Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, has been making the rounds in theaters and on CNN, but starting Thursday it’ll be available on HBO Max as well. 

And the weekend’s big movie is also a place for new music: The soundtrack from “Top Gun: Maverick” features singles by Lady Gaga and OneRepublic.
