Nadia C. Espinosa, age 45, passed away at
 her home surrounded by family and friends on October 10, 2022. She was 
born to Mayaolo and Ingrid Lopez Espinosa in Nayarit, Mexico, on December
 8, 1976. 

She was a resident of Leoti, Kansas, since 2003 having moved 
here from Ventura, California. She worked at Leoti Foods in Leoti, 
Kansas, where her outgoing personality touched so many people of the 
community.&nbsp;

Survivors include her two sons, Pablo Garcia of Hays, Kansas and 
Santi Garcia of Leoti, Kansas, her brother, Angel Espinosa of Leoti, 
Kansas, and her parents.

Marilyn Kay (Corwin) Adolf

Jerry “Jack” Dinkel, age 85&nbsp;of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on&nbsp;Thursday, September 8, 2022,&nbsp;in Lenexa, Kansas.

He was born&nbsp;January 8, 1937, in Victoria, Kansas, to Richard C. and Louise (Kuhn) Dinkel. &nbsp;He married Marian&nbsp;Rose (Sigler) and she preceded him in death on December 8, 1976.

Jack grew up&nbsp;in Victoria&nbsp;with five other siblings,&nbsp;and was a graduate of Victoria High School.&nbsp;At&nbsp;the age of 19, he joined the US Air Force, and served with them for four years before being honorably discharged in November of 1960.

Jack and Marian&nbsp;Rose&nbsp;had two children together,&nbsp;John and Tom Dinkel.&nbsp;In his free time, Jack enjoyed riding on his motorcycles, and spending time with his family or on the beach.&nbsp;Jack loved traveling and spent many years living in Southern Texas and New Mexico.&nbsp;He was an avid Kansas Jayhawks fan and would always call home to report on the games.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Survivors include his grandchildren, Thomas Dinkel and Lily Dinkel;&nbsp;his sisters, Bernadette Gottschalk and Marge Unrein.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his sons, John Dinkel and Tom Dinkel; his brothers, Francis Dinkel and Vernon Dinkel; his sisters, Marlene "Toots" Scheck and Jean Koerner.

A celebration of life service and Mass will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 22, 2022, at The Basilica of St. Fidelis, Victoria, Kansas, with Father Jim Moster O.F.M. Cap.&nbsp;officiating. &nbsp;Inurnment will be in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, Kansas.

A rosary will be at 12:30 P.M. Saturday at The Basilica of St. Fidelis.

 his home. He was born April 4, 1985, in Colby, KS to Melvin Kent and 
Rebecca J. (Weber) Pelkey.

Matthew grew up in the Atwood and 
Ludell areas. He attended Herndon schools and later received his GED. He
 worked as a mechanic and one of his hobbies was remote control cars. 
Matthew loved his big red truck, but more than anything he loved his 
kids and family. He had a heart of gold.

Matthew was preceded in 
death by his grandparents: Darrell and Deanie Weber, Truman “Butch” 
Pelkey, and Deanna McDougal. He is survived by his mother, Rebecca 
Morton of Norton; father, Melvin (Deanna) Pelkey of Herndon, KS; 
stepmother, Stephanie Pelkey of Atwood; daughters, RayeAnn and Maeve 
Pelkey; stepson, Landon; sisters, April (Rob) Fair of Newbern, NC and 
Megan (Ryan) Marvin of Atwood, KS; brother, Jasen (Lacy) Pelkey of

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — If you got an extension on the deadline to file your 2021 tax return, the IRS wants to remind you, your time is almost up.

"For those folks who got a six month extension, the deadline to file normally would be October 15," said Michael Devine with the IRS. "Since that's on a weekend, it goes to the next business day, which this year is Monday, October 17. That is the day that you need to file your tax return and avoid any chance of being tagged with a failure to file penalty."

The failure to file penalty&nbsp;is 5% of the unpaid taxes for each month or part of a month that a tax return is late.

"It needs to be in the system by midnight on Monday, so that you don't have to worry about any penalties," Devine said. "You can do it yourself. There's a lot of ways to do that. <a href="https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-file-do-your-federal-taxes-for-free">IRS Free File</a>&nbsp;is still available. Just go to IRS.gov. Right at the top, the first box you see is File Your Taxes for Free. If you made less than $73,000, you can pick a company that you want to do your taxes, put all the information in, and it will go."&nbsp;

For taxpayers whose AGI is greater than $73,000, there’s the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.irs.gov/e-file-providers/free-file-fillable-forms" target="_blank">Free File Fillable Forms</a>&nbsp;option. It provides electronic federal tax forms that can be filled out and filed online for free.&nbsp;&nbsp;

"If you owed money, that was due back in April," Devine said. "Penalties have been building up on that amount of money. The worst thing you can do is nothing. File your tax return. If you need help, contact the IRS."

Fred Robert Jennings, 81, passed away October 13, 2022, at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned.

He was born February 12, 1941, in Larned, the son of Melvin and Roberta Gibson Jennings.

A lifetime area resident, he worked for the City of Larned as the 
electrical production superintendent. He was a graduate of Rozel High 
School, a member of Larned United Methodist Church and Methodist Men’s 
Group. He was a multi-talented handyman of many trades; he had a passion
 for preserving the history of farm equipment and to this end he built 
one-sixth scale working antique farm implements.

On June 4, 1961, he married Judith A. Fox at Larned; she survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Mike (Andrea) Jennings, Great 
Bend, Philip (Tammy) Jennings, Belpre; brother, Leon Jennings, Burdett; 
two sisters, Linda Maddy, Larned, Cheryll (Kenneth) Meier, La Crosse; 
three grandchildren, Brittany (Tayler) Jennings, Larned, Mitch Jennings,
 Larned, Ian Jennings, Great Bend, and one great grandchild, Lane 
Jennings.

Memorial graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 
2022, at Larned Cemetery, Larned, with Pastor Tricia North presiding.

Brian Eugene Boy, 52, passed away October 12, 2022, in Great Bend. He
 was born April 22, 1970, in Sterling, Kan., to Lawrence and Frances 
(Fisher) Boy. He married Stacey Creed October 12, 1996, in Ellinwood.

A longtime area resident, Brian was a farmer and truck driver for 
Steve Gaunt Farms. He enjoyed playing bingo, watching Barton Community 
College sports, fishing and going to rodeos.

Survivors include, his wife, Stacey Boy and children, Jordan Boy and 
Marissa Boy all of the home; a brother, Gary Boy of Wichita; and three 
sisters, Janet Hutchinson, Carolyn Valenzuela and Anna Boy,&nbsp; all of Great
 Bend. He was preceded in death by his parents..&nbsp;

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 19, 
2022, at Bryant Funeral Home. Interment will be in Hilltop Cemetery in 
Raymond, Kan.

Rodney “Rod” Blickenstaff passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 
12, 2022, at Smith Center Health and Rehab in Smith Center, Kansas, at 
the age of 65.

He was born April 29, 1957 to Lowell and
 Ardyus (Lambert) Blickenstaff. Rod grew up in rural Smith County and 
graduated from Smith Center High School. He later graduated with a 
degree in Auto Mechanics from NCKTS in Beloit KS.

Rod 
worked multiple odd jobs before working for Piroutek’s machine shop in 
Smith Center then opening his own auto mechanic service. He expanded his
 services to include gun repair and sale as well as bait and tackle. 
Rod’s Repair served Smith Center until the early 2000’s after which he 
worked for the City of Smith Center and Jones Machinery.

Rod
 is survived by his mother, Ardyus Blickenstaff of Smith Center; 
children, Tony (Nikki) Blickenstaff of Smith Center and Angela (Travis) 
Hahn of Stockton;  sisters, Cindy (Warren) Ratliff of Glade and Carla 
Aduddell of Sunrise Beach, MO; 8 Grandchildren AJ, Mason, Jayten, Ayden,
 and Ainsley Blickenstaff and Coryn, Ashlyn and Haden Hahn.

He was preceded in death by his Father Lowell Blickenstaff of Smith Center.

Hector was born March 12, 1969, in Durango, Mexico, to Arturo Fraire and Maria Silveria Montelongo. He married Rosario Ramirez in June of 1992 in Mexico. Hector operated Heavy Equipment along with other duties for Sporer Land Development Inc. He was a very proud and active family man and especially enjoyed his time with his grandchildren. Hector enjoyed handyman type work around his home as well as mechanic work on his vehicles. Hector is survived by his wife, Rosario Ramirez of Hays; a son, Ruben Fraire and wife Rosie Cubillo of Hays and their children, Donovan and Daleysa Fraire; a daughter, Perla Fraire of Chicago, Illinois and her son, Byron Banuelos; two brothers, Fidel and Apolonio Fraire both of Texas and a sister, Victoriana Fraire of Mexico. She was born October 30, 1923, in Hays to George and Anna (Witt) Benton. Mary Ann, in her early working career, worked in the Pentagon as a secretary. She then was a homemaker until her daughters were grown and then worked as a bookkeeper for the Athletic Department at Fort Hays State University. Mary Ann was dedicated to her faith and church where she was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hays and St. Francis of Assisi in Castle Rock. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella in Hays. Mary Ann enjoyed traveling which included trips to visit Rome and the Vatican as well as the Our Lady of Medjugorje site. She is survived by two daughters, Rosemary Anderson and husband Donald Mason of Georgetown, Texas, and Cathy Radloff and significant other, Rick Hisey of Kimball, Nebraska; four grandchildren, Steve Geving, Anna Geving, Chad Savage, and Amy Kostycz; She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Griffith; as well as two sisters, Georgine Olson, and Lucille Gerstner. Rita Lynn Scheideman, age 60, of Great Bend, Kan., passed away October 11, 2022, at her home.

Rita was born on November 18, 1961, to Herbert Edward Kerr and Lynda 
Lou (Walls) Kerr. At 10 years old, she was adopted by her stepfather, 
Thomas R. Weber. She arrived in Great Bend from her hometown of Wichita 
Falls, Tex. in 1988. She stayed in Great Bend until 1992, when she 
finished her education to become a Registered Nurse. On October 3, 1992,
 she married the love of her life, Bradley Ray Scheideman in Wichita, 
Kan. In 1994, two important events happened for Rita: she moved back to 
Great Bend, where she would spend the rest of her life, and Bradley 
adopted her three children, David Ray, Christopher Lee and Shannon 
Diane. She was proud of the adults their kids grew up to be.

Rita worked as a Registered Nurse in and around Great Bend for around 25 years.

She is survived by her husband, Bradley Ray Scheideman of Great Bend;
 sons, David Ray Scheideman of Reno, Nev., and Christopher Lee 
Scheideman and wife, Amber, of Great Bend; daughter, Shannon Diane Unruh
 and husband, Grant, of Great Bend; grandchildren, Emily Scheideman, 
Hailey Peterson, Aaron Scheideman, Kendra Scheideman, Gage Peterson and 
Kaylee Scheideman; sisters, Robin Weber of Dallas, Tex., and Betty Ham

Roland graduated from Great Bend High School in 1963 and received his
 bachelors in Business from Fort Hays State University in 1967. Roland 
worked as a buyer for Dillons, supervisor for Kwik Shop, and in sales at
 Collins Bus and Cabinet Connections. He loved the mountains, his 
Tuesday morning coffee group, Tuesday night tennis group, watching 
sports of all kinds – especially K-State and Salthawk sports - with 
Rita, and spending time with his family most of all. Roland was a 
long-time devoted member of Eastwood Church of Christ where he had 
served as a deacon.

On June 5, 1971, Roland married Rita K. Woods, in Dodge City. She survives.

Also surviving are: his daughters, Melissa Thorne (Gavin) of Windsor,
 CO, Jennifer Farr (Jamie) of Junction City; and grandchildren, Grady 
and Kinley Thorne and Mason and Colin Farr.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday, October 17, 2022, at Eastwood
 Church of Christ, 2500 N. Plum St., Hutchinson, with ministers Wayne 
DeWindt and Jimie-Wray Mead officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to
 5 p.m. Saturday and 1-8 p.m., with the family present to receive 
friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary.

Cremation will follow with a private family scattering in his beloved mountains at a later date.

Memorials may be made in Roland’s name to Michael J. Fox Foundation 
for Parkinson’s Research, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, 
Hutchinson, KS 67501.

Joel Michael Landis, age 36, passed 
away on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at his home in Leoti, Kansas.&nbsp; He was 
born on October 22, 1985, in Boulder, Colorado, the son of Christopher 
and Tamala Arnold Landis.&nbsp; 

Joel was a resident of Leoti, Kansas since 
2014 moving from Denver, Colorado and worked for Amerine Construction as
 an underground drilling operator.He was a member of the Operator Engineer Local #9 and Assembly of God Church in Leoti, Kansas. &nbsp;

Survivors include his One Son - Jayce Landis of Marysville, 
Washington, Parents - Christopher &amp; Tamala Landis of Leoti, Kansas, 
Two Brothers - Jeremy &amp; Andrea Landis of Arvada, Colorado, Anthony 
&amp; Sara Landis of Willow Springs, North Carolina, Three Grandparents -
 Dennis &amp; Ginger Arnold of Longmont, Colorado, Henrietta Vollmer of 
Larned, Kansas, One Niece and Four Nephews.

He was preceded in death by Three Grandparents, and One Uncle - Steve Landis.

Joanne Marie Barton, 84, Hays, died Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Via Christi Village surrounded by family.

She was born January 1, 1938, in Hays, 
the daughter of George and Angela (Staab) Koerner.&nbsp; On July 13, 1957, she
 was united in marriage to Jerry M. Barton in Russell and they 
celebrated over 47 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on 
November 9, 2004.&nbsp; Joanne was a homemaker raising her family in Dorrance
 for many years and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in 
Dorrance.&nbsp; After moving to Hays, she attended mass at numerous churches 
often accompanied by her sister Janet.&nbsp; She loved to read, enjoyed 
cooking and baking, her brownies with walnuts being a family favorite.&nbsp; 
She was a K-State fan, enjoyed garage sales, loved chocolate and 
attending all of her children’s sporting events.&nbsp; &nbsp;Joanne was a great 
mom and as much as her children and grandchildren loved her, she loved 
them more.

Survivors include two sons: Theron 
Barton and wife Vicki of Shawnee, Jerry Barton and girlfriend Debbie 
Fabian of Russell, two daughters: JoLana Schumacher and husband Bruce of
 Lakewood, CO and Melody Giebler and husband Mike of Littleton, CO, 
three brothers: Jim Koerner and wife Arlis, Danny Koerner and 
significant other Diane, and Robert “Rocky” Koerner and wife Janet, all 
of Hays, four sisters: Carol Hustead of Hays, Judy Dreher and husband 
Don of Hays, Marlene Dyke and husband Bob of Miami, OK, and Linda 
Hammerschmidt and husband George of Victoria, two brothers-in-law: Ron 
Hamel of Plainville and Rodney Barton and wife Vera of Long Beach, CA, a
 sister-in-law: Jean Koerner of Hays, eight grandchildren: Christopher 
Giebler and fiancé Angelica, Lindsay Giebler and husband JT Mengel, Jodi
 and Jordan Elam, and Peyton, Presley, Muunjiza and Tavia Barton, two 
great grandchildren: Castiel and Catalina Giebler, and numerous nieces 
and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her 
parents, husband Jerry, three brothers: Arlen, Kenny, and Melvin 
Koerner, three sisters: Mary Lou Hamel, Rosalyn “Rosie” Koerner, and

Joanne Marie Barton

Edna Mae (Bourquin) Hoyt loved life. She lived it fully from the time 
she was born on April 27, 1936, in Auburn, Nebraska, to Ted and Odessa 
Bourquin, to her last fighting breath at Swedish Medical Center in 
Englewood, Colorado on October 12, 2022. 
Edna grew up on a family farm north of Colby, along with a younger 
sister Gwen and brother Dan, as a typical farm girl involved in 4-H, 
farm and household chores. She graduated Colby High School in 1954, 
attended Kansas State University and graduated from Fort Hays State 
University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. 
Edna loved to tell the story of how Leon proposed. He said, “might as 
well get married” to which she responded, “might as well.” After the 
three-day engagement, they were married on December 25, 1958, at 12:30 
a.m. in Colby after the Christmas Eve program. They resided in 
Hutchinson, Kansas where she finished her first year of teaching. In the
 spring of 1959, Leon and Edna moved to the Hoyt farm 15 miles north of 
Brewster where three sons were born, Craig (1959), Scott (1961), and 
Keith (1962). 
Edna always documented events that were happening, probably because they
 were always so lively in the Hoyt household. After Craig and Scott 
witnessed Keith almost born in the car, Edna described the boys’ 
childhood as “A can of whip cream on the floor, honey in the toaster, 
and leaking pipes in the basement, courtesy of the boys, and the 
question “WHY?” over and over.” Leon and Edna endured events of mother 
nature a short time after, including a twister striking the Hoyt farm in
 1962 and the blizzard of 1975. 
Edna taught the sixth grade for three years in the Brewster school 
system, from 1969 to 1972. She was a farm wife, farm hand, mom, grandma 
and great-grandma. She always said, “we should write a book” due to the 
constant “organized chaos”. When she wasn’t helping move farm equipment 
and cattle, you could find her in the kitchen whipping up meals, many 
times with the help of her grandchildren, that may have sometimes looked
 interesting but were always surprisingly satisfying, including the 
“Candy Cane Casserole.” 
You could hear her whooping and hollering at sporting events for her 
children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren. Leon and Edna were 
always on the road, “Go, Grandma, Go!” we’d say. 
Edna always went to bat for her family. It came as a shock to her to 
learn just how ornery her boys might have been once they began telling 
their stories as adults. She recognized all her grandchildren’s friends 
as if they were her own, the go-to grandma for the whole team. When 
something was needed, you could almost always find it in her purse. 
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her mother and father-in-law,
 and infant sister. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Leon, 
sons Craig (Billie) and Keith (Chris) of Brewster, Scott (Shelly) of 
Eureka; grandchildren, Tabitha (Brenden) Ptacek, Amanda (Jordan) Reid, 
Audrey (BJ) Stephens, Kasey (Brandon) Rome, Dan Dewey, Jacie (Daniel 
Heflin) Hoyt, Corinna (Kellen) Adams, Terran (Braden Larcom) Hoyt; and 
19 great-grandkids. She is also survived by her sister Gwen Beauchamp 
and brother Dan (Shirley) Bourquin. 
Memorial services will begin with visitation on Sunday, October16, 2022,
 4-6:00pm at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby, with funeral services on Monday, 
10:00am at the Brewster United Methodist Church, burial following at 
Brewster Cemetery.

Edna Mae (Bourquin) Hoyt

Augustine “Francis” Vonfeldt passed away on October 10, 2022, in the 
Anthology of Olathe Assisted Living in Olathe, Kansas at the age of 90. 
Francis was born on November 13, 1931, to August and Celestine 
(Kinderknecht) Vonfeldt in Gorham, Kansas. He was united in marriage to 
Shirley A. (Robben) Vonfeldt on August 22, 1951, in Gorham. The couple 
was blessed with four children: Roger, Karen, Keith, and Alan.

Francis
 grew up in Gorham where he graduated from Gorham High School in 1949. 
He worked as an oilfield mechanic for many years and eventually owned 
Oilfield Engine Services in Plainville. He was hard working, enjoyed 
people, and never turned down a time to lend a helping hand. Francis was
 highly involved in Alcoholics Anonymous as a recovering alcoholic 
sponsor, and also a member of the Knights of Columbus as a 4th degree 
Knight. There was always coffee to be drank and friends to visit with at
 Crawford’s, Fish Frys to assist and enjoy at the K of C, and cards to 
be played at the Ponderosa. Francis also enjoyed being in the outdoors 
enjoying a round of golf, fishing, hunting and boating across Kansas and
 Colorado, or soaking up the warmer winters in Rio Hondo, Texas.

Francis
 was a man who loved his Lord, Jesus Christ, and passed that love on to 
his family so it would continue to grow and be nurtured in their lives. 
Let Matthew 22:37-39 be a constant reminder, “Thou shalt love the Lord 
thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy

 </figure>Augustine “Francis” Vonfeldt passed away on October 10, 2022, in the 
Anthology of Olathe Assisted Living in Olathe, Kansas at the age of 90. 
Francis was born on November 13, 1931, to August and Celestine 
(Kinderknecht) Vonfeldt in Gorham, Kansas. He was united in marriage to 
Shirley A. (Robben) Vonfeldt on August 22, 1951, in Gorham. The couple 
was blessed with four children: Roger, Karen, Keith, and Alan.Francis
 grew up in Gorham where he graduated from Gorham High School in 1949. 
He worked as an oilfield mechanic for many years and eventually owned 
Oilfield Engine Services in Plainville. He was hard working, enjoyed 
people, and never turned down a time to lend a helping hand. Francis was
 highly involved in Alcoholics Anonymous as a recovering alcoholic 
sponsor, and also a member of the Knights of Columbus as a 4th degree 
Knight. There was always coffee to be drank and friends to visit with at
 Crawford’s, Fish Frys to assist and enjoy at the K of C, and cards to 
be played at the Ponderosa. Francis also enjoyed being in the outdoors 
enjoying a round of golf, fishing, hunting and boating across Kansas and
 Colorado, or soaking up the warmer winters in Rio Hondo, Texas.Francis
 was a man who loved his Lord, Jesus Christ, and passed that love on to 
his family so it would continue to grow and be nurtured in their lives.

MANHATTAN — The Kansas Department of Agriculture’s Division of Conservation has partnered with the Kansas Groundwater Management District 4 to offer funds to assist landowners in that district with irrigation efficiency technology.

The GMD 4 Irrigation Technology Initiative is designed to promote irrigation efficiency by providing cost-share assistance to landowners who invest in conservation practices by purchasing technology including automated soil moisture probes, mobile drip irrigation systems, autonomous pivot systems, remote monitoring systems, and more. This project is funded through the Kansas Water Plan with additional funding from GMD 4.

Applications for the cost share funds will be accepted beginning October 17, 2022, and will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis through February 2023 or until all funds have been allocated. Only land located within GMD 4 will be eligible for this initiative.

GMD 4 includes all or parts of 10 counties in northwest Kansas and comprises nearly 5,000 square miles. It is governed by a locally elected board representing land owners and water users. GMD 4 has actively worked toward water conservation in the district, including establishing a Local Enhanced Management Area (LEMA) to set goals and control measures to aid in water conservation.

DALLAS - For the second time in three years, Baylor was chosen by the league’s head coaches to win the Big 12 men’s basketball regular season title. The Bears were also the preseason favorite in 2020-21 and went on to win both the Big 12 and NCAA championships.

Baylor received five first-place votes and totaled 77 points to edge out Kansas for the top spot. The Jayhawks had four first-place nods and 73 points to place second. Texas was picked third with the final first-place vote and 64 points. TCU was chosen fourth followed by a tie for fifth between Oklahoma State and Texas Tech. The remainder of the poll included Oklahoma in seventh, Iowa State eighth, West Virginia ninth and Kansas State 10th.

The Big 12 has won the last two national championships as Kansas brought home the 2022 trophy following Baylor’s title in 2021. Big 12 teams have played in the last four Final Fours and the last three national championship games. The Big 12 is the first conference to win back-to-back national championships since 2009 and 2010 and is the only conference to have three different teams play in three consecutive championship games. Sixty percent of Big 12 institutions have advanced to the Final Four since 2002, the highest percentage among conferences.

🏀 Baylor chosen Big 12 men’s basketball preseason favorite

Chase Garrett Ehlers, the son of Ted and Marcia (Dunn) Ehlers, was 
born on June 12, 1996 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He passed away on October 10,
 2022 at Manhattan, Kansas at the age of 26 years, 3 months, 28 days.

Chase was baptized in the Webber United Methodist Church. 
Growing up, Chase attended many schools including Mt. View Elementary in
 Mt. View, Hawaii; North Polk Elementary School in Fort Polk, Louisiana;
 Stowers Elementary in Fort Benning, Georgia; Chapman Middle School in 
Chapman, Kansas and was a graduate of Lawrence/Nelson High School in 
Nelson, Nebraska. After graduating he attended the University of 
Nebraska for a time before enlisting in the United States Army on June 
22, 2015 earning the National Defense service medal and Army service 
Ribbon. Chase was honorably discharged on December 20, 2017 and 
continued his education at the Kansas State University where he 
presently was enrolled.

Throughout Chase’s life, he lived in the communities of Helemano,
 HI, Fort Benning, GA, Mountain View, HI, Fort Polk, LA, Chapman, KS, 
Nelson, NE, presently living in Manhattan, KS.

Chase was preceded in death by his grandparents Duane and Pat

Donald J. Kober, 79, La Crosse, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, October 
11, 2022, at Rush County Memorial Hospital, La Crosse, Kansas.

Donald was born November 16, 1942, in Bison, Kansas, the son of Frank
 J. and Viola (Krestin) Kober.&nbsp; He was a lifelong resident of Rush 
County, Kansas.&nbsp; He was employed for the Kansas Department of 
Transportation (KDOT) for 35 years before his retirement.

On September 5, 1964, he married Dalene F. Million at Rozel, Kansas.

Survivors include:&nbsp; his wife, Dalene Kober, La Crosse, Kansas; two 
sons, Franklin Kober, La Crosse, Kansas, and Randall Kober (Julie), 
Wichita, Kansas; two daughters, Tammy Proffitt (Joe), La Crosse, Kansas,
 and Sandra Davis (Kelly), Great Bend, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Adam
 Kober (Cortney), Hays, Kansas, Alex Kober, La Crosse, Kansas, Josie
