Kansas man accused of fatal hit-and -run crash

SEDGWICK COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities investigating a fatal hit and run crash have made an arrest.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers were dispatched to a fatal accident at the intersection of 47th Street South and South Hydraulic Avenue, according to Officer Charley Davidson.

The investigation revealed a black SUV was  eastbound on 47th Street South. The SUV then turned north onto Hydraulic Avenue and struck a westbound 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by 37-year-old Kenneth M. Ballinger of Derby.

EMS pronounced Ballinger dead at the scene from his injuries. The driver of the black SUV later identified as 31-year-old Jesus Manuel Olave, Jr., fled the scene.  According to Sedgwick County booking records, police arrested and booked him into jail Thursday evening  on requested charges of Operating a motor vehicle without a valid license, Failure to stop at an accident that resulted in death, Failure to yield to approaching vehicle when turning left,

At approximately 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers were dispatched to a fatal accident at the intersection of 47th Street South and South Hydraulic Avenue, according to Officer Charley Davidson.

The investigation revealed a black SUV was  eastbound on 47th Street South. The SUV then turned north onto Hydraulic Avenue and struck a westbound 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Ballinger.

He died from his injuries. The driver of the black SUV fled the scene. Police have not located the driver.  The SUV may have damage to the front right corner.
