SHAWNEE COUNTY —A Kansas teen died in an accident just after 9p.m. Sunday in Shawnee County.
A 2010 Toyota Tacoma driven by a 16-year-old was northbound on SW Valencia Road near SW 53rd, according to Deputy Abigail Christian. The driver failed to navigate the curve onto eastbound SW 53rd Street. The Toyota left the road and struck a tree.
The front seat passenger identified as 19-year-old Killian J. Vincent of Topeka was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to Christian. EMS transported the teen driver and an 18-year-old male back seat passenger to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver was the only occupant wearing a seat belt, according to Christian.
