Kansas woman arrested after crash that killed motorcyclist

SALINE COUNTY—Law enforcement investigating a fatal 2-vehicle accident that occurred just before 7p.m. Friday in Saline County have identified the victim as 30-year-old Riley Faris of Salina, according to a statement from the Saline County Sheriff. Deputies also made an arrest.

According to the sheriff's office, a custom 1986 Harley Davidson driven by  Faris was westbound on Kansas 140 Highway at Perry Street in Brookville.  A 2003 Subaru Forester driven by Kylie Barnett, 39, Kanopolis, rear-ended the motorcycle.

Faris was ejected from the motorcycle upon impact and pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies at the scene arrested Barnett and booked her into the Saline County Jail on requested charges of Driving While Suspended, No Proof of Insurance and Following too close.

Deputies determined alcohol was not a factor. Barnett is no longer in custody, according to online jail records.
