At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 21, officers responded to an unknown call for police at the Sports Complex.  Upon officers arriving, they heard multiple gunshots, and while on the scene, Nolen arrived at an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation revealed Nolen was at the Sports Complex, and a verbal argument ensued between him and Hall on the west side of the stadium bleachers.  During the argument, Hall pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots, striking Nolen.  Nolen was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle by two individuals with him at the Sports Complex, and Hall fled on foot.  No one else was injured.

This was not a random incident, and Hall and Nolen were known to each other.  Additionally, the incident was not related to games being played or officiated.

Through the examination of evidence, tips provided to Crime Stoppers, and tips provided to WPD from the community, investigators learned of Hall’s involvement in the shooting, according to Davidson.
