KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident in Kansas City.
Just after 7 p.m. Wednesday police responded to a hit-and-run at 6th Street and Prospect in Kansas City, according to a media release.
Preliminary investigation revealed the operator of a scooter was westbound on 6th Street. At Prospect the operator failed to stop for the posted stop sign, entered the intersection, and traveled underneath the trailer of a southbound International semi.
The rear wheels of the semi ran over the scooter driver. The driver of the semi left the scene but was located a short time later by responding officers. The driver of the scooter, whose name has not been released, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
This is fatality #31 compared to #16 at this time last year in Kansas City, according to KCPD.
