⚾ Monarchs roll past Colby to open season

HAYS - Thomas More Prep-Marian cruised to a couple of run-rule wins over Colby to open their season Tuesday at the TMP Field. The Monarchs took game one 13-2 in five innings then won the second contest 15-0 in four.

Game 1: TMP-Marian 13, Colby 2 (5 innings)
TMP took advantage of an error and three walks to score six in the second inning then added six more runs in the third.

Mark Rack had three hits and drove in a run. Nick Helget, Chet Irvin, Caden Morgan and Nicholas Herrman.

Starting pitcher Caden Morgan gave up one earned run and didn’t allow a hit over 2 2/3 innings with five striketout and picked up the win.

Mark Rack pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings with five strikeouts and no walks.

Game 2: TMP-Marian 15, Colby 0 (4 innings)
The Monarchs scored two in the first, six in the second, four in the third and three in the fourth.

Mark Rack had three hits and drove in four runs, Nick Helget had two hits and drove in three to lead the nine hit attack.

Jace Wentling pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing two hits with six strikeouts and two walks for the win. Nicholas Herrman allowed one hit over the final 1 2/3 innings with a walk and a strikeout.
